We went there on Friday afternoon and they were a bit overwhelmed, so the service was not ideal as I am used to from Ocean Basket. The fish, calamari and shrimps were all good. The spiced rice was delicious.
If you’re a fan of sea food then must try ocean basket. Initially they served bread with some sauces and butter. We ordered salad, their famous Fish & chips and cajun prawns which comes with rice and their peri peri sauce is just amazing.

It’s one of the best seafood places I’ve ever been to, not a bit of exaggeration. I know the place from Cyprus where I believe it started and I was surprised when I found out about the Dubai branch. Although I had found out about it a couple of years back yet I only got round to paying it a visit only last week and realized how much I had been missing out. Their menu is quite diverse with a wide range of seafood plates and sushi selections. I ordered the mix seafood platter which in turn has a wide variety of seafood combination and everything just tastes amazingly good, just heaven in my mouth. Loved everything in the plate, the shrimps, calamaris, mussels, fish and even the rice and chips. I also ordered the shrimp in butter and garlic sauce appetizer I used to get in Cyprus which was unfortunately taken off the menu, yet they were kind enough to serve it. I also loved the bread they serve at the beginning with different sauces that you can spread on the bread, the sauces were truly amazing. Very highly recommended to all seafood lovers out there.

We had the Prawns/Rice and Limefish/Prawns combo as suggested by Tej, our host. Loved the flavors and overall service. Fish was perfectly cooked to our taste. Would highly recommend for the seafood lovers. Ask for Tej if you need the best recommendation.

My brother got me amazing sushi and calamari and we will definitely go back again not only because of the food but mainly for the amazing and pleasant service by the lovely host (jacklyin) she was just amazing, friendly, smiling and recommended the best sauces. I was the happiest when Ocean Basket opened in UAE... I used to go there all the time when I visited South Africa... I went there with my family and in Mauritius as well. I can tell you it is the BEST to go if you love seafood... I fancy their bread and butter which just opens your appetite... and the platter which has everything is just amazing, flavours of butter and lemon... I went there for a date with my now husband and we enjoyed every moment of it.
Ocean Basket is having good option for sea food lovers... Located at south side in mirdiff city center near vox, it is nice option for its sea food soups and fish and chips.
It’s a super value for money even without the entertainer , the food is delicious , fresh and the portion are fair for the price . Overall , a very good restaurant all in all. Our waiter Musbau was the best , so attentive to our needs , Thank you ! I removed a star as I think menu could use some improvement like many more dishes and options , the sushi as well could use more variety.
Place is a wonderland for seafood lovers. Being a loner diner most of the time ...bar counter seat was an add on and swift responses to the requests. The rice served was slightly undercooked which required extra effort to chew on. Otherwise it was spotless.

Apparently this restaurant has a cult following in South Africa! Like the name suggests this restaurant offers seafood served grilled or fried... it also offers Sushi but I didn't try it.
The fish, calamari and shrimps we ordered was very well cooked and the portions were generous. Service was efficient and friendly. Their prices are fair!

My favourite back home and it was spot on.
Served with half rice and chips; cajun and Lemon butter prawns; grilled calamari and fried calamari heads; creamy mussels and fried fish.
Ordered a top up of spinach and butternut to go with this and it was so yummy.
Bread as a starter was fair but can be improved with something much softer.
Mussels was not prepared the same way like how we have it back home and I didn't like the seasoning on it in the creamy sauce.
My overall experience was a great one.

We stumbled into this restaurant and were happy to have accidently found it. The food was so fresh and authentic coming straight from the grill in unique silver serving pans. The flavours were just perfect and we loved the lemon butter sauce that was served with our meals, it tasted divine. We ordered some fresh halloumi and salad as a starter with the additional complimentary bread. The waiter was very helpful in giving us a background to the restaurant and style of each dish. Their portions were big and filling so if you would like to taste some fresh seafood then we suggest you check out this gem.

Ocean Basket is a great place for seafood meals, even if you’re not a fan of seafood, you have to try it, it will change your perspective on seafood. Everything they have is so delicious.
Good environment and really friendly staff. Menu selection is really complete. We tried sushi options and combos, everything was outstanding quality even wasn’t expecting to much about sushi and was really good and super fresh!

We ordered the platter and it was awesome. There was baby octopus, shellfish, shrimps, fish fillet and fries. The lemon butter sauce was yum.
They had a good supply of bread.
Also had a platter of sushi. It was okay. We've had better.
For dessert we ordered a funny names dessert which I didnt really like. The consistency was too gelatinous.

Ocean Basket is one of true hidden gems of Dubai. Me and my second half really like OB fish and chips which is only 39dhs, and I have the fish grilled whereas my bf has it fried. Our favourite sides are butternut squash mash (it has a bit cinnamon in there which is so yummy) and creamy spinach. Fish comes with yummy lemon butter sauce on it, and the staff has been kind enough to bring us extra tartar sauce. Staff is very good - friendly, knowledgeable, confident and very attentive, also sincere and practical, one of the very best in Dubai. We keep wondering when we go why are there not more Ocean Baskets in Dubai (ideally somewhere closer to JVC :)). Thank you very much, OB team!
As a seafood lover i was interested to try this restaurant and it didnt fail me overall. The taste of seafood was fresh, sauces were very good and sushi was good too. But i didn't like fried fish. That was too mushy inside. However the prawns, calamari, sushi, and oysters were very tasty and fresh...the price is a bit high but not bad for once in a while.

Taste - The food was amazing as I'm a big fan of seafood and they were also cooked properly as the fish had a thick coating and the grilled prawn was also topped with a creamy sauce. The rice and the fries tasted superb as the sauce really helped to make the whole food flavourful.
Final Verdict - Overall an amazing place to have seafood with a bit of British touch. The pricing seems to be slightly on the higher side but still being manageable as the seafood quality and taste is superb.
Yes to well seasoned tasty seafood platter for 2! The tiny fried octopus and small calamari rings are addictive. Recommended while you in mirdif craving for a tasty lunch or dinner. The shrimps are juicy with a tasty lemoney rush.

This is one of those restaurants hidden in the corner of the mall and one of its kind. There’s literally no other ocean basket around and none of my friends have heard about it, but it is just so delicious and fresh and it’s South African. They have nothing but seafood but you wouldn’t want to order anything else. I had the privilege of trying the most fresh and tender steamed calamari ever. The staff are very friendly and the service is good. It really was a great first time experience. I didn’t try their sushi, only the platter for 2 with fish, shrimp, calamari, mussels with rice. I will definitely be back to try other menu items.

*family platter with all grilled shrimps, calamari, 2 cajun fish and 2 grilled fish. - we were only two people so the portion was a bit too much for us. we ALMOST finished it tho.

We went for breakfast to mirdif city center, when we passed by this resturant we found out they had special offer for breakfast, so we went in, but I was surprised with the mix they made between seafood and the egg omlate and fried eggs, we order 4 kinde of breakfast plates, the fish cake was the best it was a fried eggs on two hash brows mixed with fish on red souc, and the egg with fish friettata was very delicious too, and the fried eggs with hallomi was good and the scrambled eggs with salmon was good too.

A seafood lovers joint, expect to get fresh seafood that tastes good. The platter for sharing was enough for our group of four and reasonably priced too.
Some of the best seafood in town. Go for the kajun flavouring which brings about a slight spice to the whole food mix. They also have monthly specials that keep rotating.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant’s food to be of the same high quality as of their outlets in South Africa (where Ocean Basket originates from). The menu selection was good and this outlet offers a business lunch option on selected items. The calamari I ordered were slightly soft and perhaps a little more sauce would have been welcomed but they were very tasty nevertheless. The service was spotless: friendly and attentive and the manager came round to ensure the food was up to our expectations. Prices are very competitive. Recommended
We were at Mirdiff city centre for movie,it was dinner time hence my cousin decided to have dinner, we sat in a restaurant but then while discussing what to order we concluded it will be sea food hence we skipped and jumped into Ocean basket.

I am big fan of sea food and I turely enjoyed the sea food at ocean basket. The food quality is to the mark and the price is also adequate. I recommend to have their lemon garlic grill prawns.
Nice restaurant with friendly staff,quick service and pleasant ambience. Ordered platter for two (175 aed), was prepared quickly, food was average, thought felt it could be better for its price, for this platter they use the smallest shrimp can be upgraded for bigger shrimps. Good place if you don't like to wait too long for your order, but seafood taste can be improved.

Let's start with the sushi platters for two. Well done lads, great sushi and great artistic work. I would definitely have that next time. The sushi is fresh and tastes absolutely magnificent.
The family fish platter. Usually I take mine grilled, but I decided to try the fried. I felt it had a little too much oil, but otherwise it isn't bad at all. The fish was great, yet the prawns and calamari were a little oily. So I think I'll give the grilled a try next time.
This restaurant is reasonably priced and has a really rich set of seafood platters. Service is great, everything arrives on time, and waiters are well-presented and friendly.

General Overview: If you live nearby u're such a lucky person! Since I live abroad, I sometimes envy you! This restaurant serves the best Grilled Calamari I've ever tasted ! Their Spicy Sauce is Heaven ! I definitely recommend this place for seafood lovers.

Seafood lovers will absolutely love OB. This place offers great service and especially great food. It's perfect for sharing and anyone who like seafood. The venue is perfect for anyone wanting to dine quietly as well and the decor is really nice with wooden floor finishes and very comfy seating.
The crew is particularly good and quick when it comes to getting orders to tables so wait time is really good.
We ordered the starboard platter and relished it. We got our prince prawns grilled and the rest of our items batter fried which all were perfectly cooked.
OB is definitely a great choice for seafood lovers and must be tried out. Only wish they were in other malls or had other outlets to visit.
I first became fan of this place back in Europe, so it was a delight to be able to dine in UAE as well.

Whenever we visit mirdiff we always eat at ocean basket... i love almost evrything here. The service from the staff is absolutly great,which makes it even better. I come along with my 3 yr old daughter,they always have something entertaining for kids, so kids are occupied with something.
Service was a bit slow. We had to wait a looooootttt. Food was very good. Worth waiting. Starters are must to go. I have tried Ocean Basket in Capetown as well. So i was expecting similar service. I felt it to be a bit pricey here in Dubai.

Grilling prawns is really tricky, you don't want to serve it raw nor dry! At Ocean Basket you'll have the grilled juicy prawns! The mussels and fish were perfect too! Deep fried squid heads were a bit over fried and their size is a bit small. Calamaries were a bit hard, the fork was not penetrating through it.
The waiters were friendly, smiling, and attentive. The environment was very good! Prices are good compared with the quality and quantity they give.

The tender squid and mussels with the white was was my favorite, that is a must try from the menu. Had such a great experience, the service was also really good. We had the platter which included all kinds of seafood including prawns and fish. Also had the village salad which was just simply topped with oliveoil and herbs.
