Usually order Masala Dosa and Channa Batura. It has always been consistent and good. Keep up the good work.

I have ordered Onam Sadhya from Madinat Zayed branch at 11 in the afternoon today It's 2 o'clock still not received the order. I tried calling them for one hour. Still they are not receiving my calls n kept the phone busy. They didn't even confirm my order.Highly disappointed with service.Never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Saravana Bhavan is a goto place for amazing dosas and other Indian delicacies.

I personally like their variety of dosas and paneer butter masala with Jeera rice.

Rava onion dosa & Ghee masala dosa is a must try.

Staff are kind and attentive.

If you order- delivery takes too long because the delivery is done by restaurant themselves. So make sure to order at least a hour before. Also, dosas get soggy and not a good option for home delivery.
Dr Saimegha Menon
We ordered our usual ghee masala dosa which was excellent. Idli sambar was good. Vada was cold. Delivery time was slightly delayed.

Please don't ever order any North Indian dishes there. They have all the dishes but don't know at all how to prepare.
Bhaji in pav bhaji was just dry smashed potato with capsicum. Kadai paneer gravy was not even eatable, fulkas were uncooked.
To top it all they charge as if they are a five star restaurant.
Sangeetha and Vasanta bhavan are far better than this.
Fairouz Shamid
An excellent option for authentic South Indian Cuisine... They have a variety of Dosas... Must try item is their Masala Dosa

Located in the center of the city in madinat zayed shopping centre. It is a resteraunt with pleasent interior, spacious dinning hall, Serving the best of south indian cuisine.
.
.
I personally loved the idly, medu vada, paper roast masala dosa, upma, neer dosa and kids favorite cheese masala dosa. In the main coarse. We also tried their Afghani paneer tikka and dal makhni. For dessert we had gulab jamun it was not to sweet and soft. Everything was perfect and served on time. To finish it off we had their speacial filter coffee.
Pretty affordable.
Frendly staff.
Clean and hygienic surrounding
Just make sure to arrive early or Make reservations earlier as its quite busy.
Overall experience 4/5.

Their delivery is always late. I have ordered from here twice and both the time they delivered after 90mins or more. The food was cold as well. When it happened the first time, I thought it was one off, but after the second time, I am not going to order from here.
Sanket6780
2 hours for food delivery 😤. Imagine food quality now my recommendation please don’t order from this restaurant. They don’t care about customers also. Please make sure everyone before something order from this restaurant
Vivek Krishna
The ghee masala dosa was a bit too big, and Pav bhaji was bland. Chutneys were good
Syed
Pretty average food. Only the idli and dosa are somewhat good. The thali has disappointed more often than not.

This place has ample seating area. It’s typically crowded and buzzing with customers wanting to relish South Indian food. Must try: Mysore masala dosa, masala dosa, idli-Wada sambar and the amazing filter kaapi (coffee)
Being a frequent customer, the wait time has never exceeded 15min even on the weekends where you’d typically find big groups or families catching up over breakfast/ brunch.
A must visit place in case you’re missing out on your South Indian favourites.
Ambience: 3/5
Staff: 3/5
Food: 4/5
FoodSnobbery
The problem with this place is they promise faithfully to deliver at a particular time. Delivery is not even close to estimated time.
We enjoyed the food thoroughly. The dosa’s were delivered so they weren’t as crispy as they would have been if we had eaten at the restaurant. But they tasted great. The masala dosa and onion dosa both were fresh and not too oily. The aloo globi was delicious and so was the butter paneer masala. Would highly recommend. Total cost was 60 AED for 3 of us.

Nothing beats the South Indian taste than this home-like restaurant. Just a bite and you will feel the warmth of your home cooked food which will definitely take you back to India. In fact better than many restaurants in South India itself. Idli, poori, dosas, vada...you name it, they get it right...Though it's hard to communicate with their staff due to their local hires, I ignore just because of the taste of their chutneys. Lots of love as they cook exactly like my mom ❤️

Be prepared to recieve your order after 2 hours with restaurant and #ZOMATO not helping you out... With you getting answers we are unable to reach the delivery guy... And blaming him...rather than taking ownership
Trupthi Rai
We ordered food and waited for two hours to get delivered.

My fav place for breakfast. The service was fast. We tried the dosa, poori and gobi-65. The taste was amazing. It’s located at the 2nd floor madinat zayed.

Saravanaa Bhavan is one of the vegetarian joints in Madinat Zayed Shopping center.I have popped in today morning to try out their breakfast.Their menu has vast options that you get lost into it. We ordered the sada dosa and masala dosa. It was very hot when they brought it to our table. We also tried their puri bhaji and porotta korma. And the best was their filter coffee and tea.It was a nice experience but felt everything was a bit pricey especially for breakfast.
Foodbrois
Honestly this place is my favorite South Indian Vegetarian restaurant and has the best Masala Dosas and Ghee Roasts i’ve tried till date. The Idly and Puri is also good. And the staff are pretty sweet too. This place is highly recommended!
—————————————————
Food: (3.5/5)
Staff: (3.5/5)
Ambience: (3/5)

What's not to like here. I go to this place specifically for masala dosa they have best sambar and chutneys in town.

Choley bhaturey are just OK not north Indian style but still with the economical prices, they are doing good.

Clean and nice ambiance, kids high chair is provided, the staff is prompt.
I visited this restaurant with my family recently during eid. I was really disappointed with their service. In spite of the thali being there they denied to give us one. Later they took our order down. It seemed like the servers were not interested in giving us food. The restaurant was a mess and our table was also not cleaned properly. Because they didn't serve us we had to leave from half our meal and go. I have been a customer of Sarvana in Dubai for over 15 years, and their food and service is always impeccable, but this branch really needs someone to turn it around to make the service better.

I tried the North Indian thali and tea here . The food was great , rotis and daal were great . The tea was super amazing and the people were nice. If you are in Abu dhabhi and are a vegetarian then you can trust this place. For more reviews don’t forget to follow me on Instagram ID: @mybohovoyage

If you are craving for South Indian vegetarian food, then this is one of the best option... I usually order online... I love their dosas and idlis... Recently tried kaima idli which is really good and that made me to write review now... I always love saravanaa bhavan's sambar and chutneys (especially the tomato one)
Sheba Sam
A standard family friendly restaurant for south Indian vegetarian food. I usually come here to dine in with my family. Since it's located in a highly residential area, finding a parking spot is challenging.
I've tried the:
-Mini Ghee Sambar Idli
-Masala Dosa, Plain Dosa and Rava Dosa
-Poori Bhaji
-Gobi 65 and Cauliflower Manchurian.
Service is a bit slow but the food served is definitely pleasing.

I ordered my food around 19:25, i rang the restaurant 5 minutes later requesting for a Pepsi as they did not have it on the menu and told them I would pay the cash for the Pepsi as my food was already paid for via the app. I asked politely when the food would be ready and was told I should have my food delivered 45 minutes later. Around 20:01 the food was dispatched from the restaurant, I was chasing for the food from 20:35 as it had already been 1 hour and 10 minutes since I placed the order. I received my food around 21:15 after being told that I would receive my food in 10 minutes around 20:35. By the time I received my food it was extremely cold. The bin enjoyed my food than I did due to it being very cold. Zamato is also losing its credibility as I have had many issues from them now. I am using zamato every day but it is time to change.

Today we dined in at Sarvana, I am a Dilliwala so Sarvana has always been my favorite outlet suiting my palette.. Food tickled the taste buds here as well but unfortunately ambience was poor, FUrniture wasn’t very clean..
Rohith Nair
Have been to their outlets in Chennai before.
Tried the one in Madinat Zayed and was a nice experience. They have a variety of dosas (nice, hot and crispy) and absolutely loved each one of them.
One of my favorite places for dosas, specifically the rava dosa. Will definitely keep visiting.
Siddharth Jain
I was FAN of SB food and always recommended it around the world. Madina Zayed - you need to get back to quality and courtesy.
I visited last week with my wife and kid- the server and waiter were very funny- i felt they were trying to make me feel i came to wrong place to eat S.Indian food.- Customer should feel respected.

Online ordering- I ordered some food via Zomato, I ordered Rava idli (which had greenchili for some reason) and no sambar and chutneys were sent. i tried to call them BUT both landline numbers are NOT working. Guys RAMP UP.

Midhun Roy
Very nice place to have south indian food. Very well prepared amd tasty food.
The mysore masala is very nice, and also the cofee is so tasty
Shazeaa Alam
This is a nice place if you have been craving south indian food. Usually not being a fan of dosa, I love it here. I have tried their dosas, idlis, vadas, thali, chole bature and few of their chinese dishes. Everything is good. I am a big fan of their batura since it’s not too oily or it doesn’t become too stretchy after it cools. However their chinese dishes are strictly ok. Ordered a gobi manchurian once and it so thick and lumpy- too much of corn flour. Now I stir clear of chinese food there. The service is great too!
Deepa Shetty
The food is quite good and so is the spaciousness of the restaurant. Most of the waiters are courteous too. However, what bothers me is that the uniforms of the waiters seem to be unwashed for long , there are food splatters all over. I wish they would be clean in this respect, it would do much to improve customers’ perception of the hygiene of this restaurant .
Manoj
Service needs to improve , no smiling faces from the staff. Ordered the Tahaali , we needed to remind each time that we were there 😞 and bring the dishes
✔️ My Honest Review For Saravana Bhavan ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Have tried their other outlet but this in particular am not a fan very mediocre service & food quality is just ok .. Coffee was normal filter they didn’t add sugar to it we had to remind them .. Food Was Just Down the Hill ..

Would suggest yo hire a trained team to handle on rush hours ..

Overall experience ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nishana Sujith
One of our weekend breakfast places. Their dosas are the best, and always come out crisp and golden, and is enough to fill you up with a single one. Pooris are yum too, and if you haven't already, ask for their kuruma with pooris which is plain delicious. Try the filter kaapi to round it all up.

We are regulars there and rarely have had any problems with service.

The dinner is ok. If you'd really like to catch Saravana at it's best, be there for their breakfast or lunch thalis.
Charit
Spoil your beautiful weekend morning at Sarvana Bhavan. If you want to start hating dosa please visit this restaurant. The staff will make you also feel terrible and super uncomfortable as if you are visiting the restaurant to have food for free.
What do you have to say about this beautiful ghee masala rava dosa. Looks like scambled dosa 😂. New form of dosa just invented by sarvana bhavan.
Promita Mukharji
Love the food here. The service is quick and the food is lip smacking. My go-to for South Indian food in Abu Dhabi. My complaint is, wish they would also serve idlis and vadas during lunchtime.
Anuraag Mehta
Worst restaurant.
Worst services
Worst north indian food
Save ur money.
Total waste and unfriendly staff.
Really a big joke to a multinational chain of restaurant
Vinitha Deepak
Best vegeterian lunch meals- very good - highly recomended :-)
Porotta - worst
Cofee - good
Staffs good.
Tamil restaurant..
Tried several times.
Overall 3.75/5
Saravanan my all time favourite. Specially for their breakfast. I like their idil vada and the chai. They have really good Pulao rice as well. I would also recommend their Thali as well. Saravanaa is a must visit restaurant in Abu Dhabi for idli vada lovers.
FunFoodieFriend
Feel like they reduced their quality and quantity. It used to be good before but now it's satisfactory. Gobi mancurian was nice👌. Service is good and friendly
Imran
I have been to this place with my family as well as my colleagues. Since this is one of the few Dosa places with a decent ambience, I can bring my western colleagues to this restaurant as well.

We ordered Gobi 65, Paneer Chilly Dry and one Potato dish for starters and all were extremely delicious. We ordered a variety of Dosa’s, Idly and medu wada which was served with a few variety of delicious chatni. The Mysore Masala Dosa was way too spicy to handle. Everything else was just perfect.
Famidha Ashraf
Our first visit to this outlet in abu dhabi. The mini tiffin was of good quantity for a hungry tummy. The vadas were soft and crispy! The sambar was thick and tasty. The chutneys were all tasty. Only drawback I noticed was the masala was less in masala dosa and even when we ordered poori the masala was the same and served less quantity than required. The service was ok. But I guess people come here for the food and don’t care much about anything else.
Rahul Krishnakumar
The best part of this place is their consistency, in being arrogant and lackadaisical of the customer. It is honestly surprising that with their attitude, they are still in business!
Had Calicut Notebook and Ruchi been less crowded, I don't think anyone would want to go to this place by choice!
Geo Foodie Vincent
A fantastic South Indian vegetarian thali for lunch and planner 65 an add-on

Taste was Wow....
Very spacious seating...
Fantastic interior...
humble staffs...

I recommend and a must try 👍🏾

For comfort food, usually Sravanaa Bhavans are the final word. I didn't feel exactly comforted, however. I was sated, doubtless, but the food was average at best, with none of the complexity and lacking much of the flavours associated with traditional Madras veg cuisine. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't earth shattering. For this Saravanaa Bhavan, that is not a good sign.
Reeju Thomas Mathew
Classic south Indian... tasty.. but the masala dosa masala is what you get for the baaji if you order poori baaji.. your dishes are perfect for breakfast..
EyeSid
I love trying different countries' cuisines and I was introduced to and fell in love with South Indian cuisine because of Saravna Bhavan. Simply the BEST South indian restuarant in Abu Dhabi !
Darryl
Food was not that special and definitely not worth what i had paid for as the quantity was too less. If such a restaurant has to charge high prices then they have to atleast increase the quantity. Very disappointed.
Zubair
Very good south Indian restaurant, neat & clean, friendly staff
food is very testy** but bit expensive
Thali is testy but 1 small problem they will not give poori's quickly we need to wait very long
Blogger Bae
Tried their puri bhaji and masala dosa which was really tasty. Sarvanaa bhavan is the place for the best breakfast.
Overall a very good experience.
Ankita.b.nair
An authentic South Indian restaurant which will never disappoint your South Indian cravings...
Bisibille saadam (Hope I spelled it properly) was simply finger licking....
Looking forward to some new dishes for my next visit
Avinash
Very Poor Delivery service! The food arrived almost after 2 hours and wasn’t even warm enough. Really disappointed . I wouldn’t recommend this place for home delivery. There better places who can deliver within time and serve hot n fresh food.
IFkhan IQbal
I have ordered 20 mins ago and got this message after ordering and I’ll post this everywhere.
I don’t care about the refund and how can they decline.
What if I don’t have money to order some other food ?
I’ll take this as a serious issue and will not leave this.
Shaik Abdullah
Its was very very bad service ever seeing in Saravanan Bhavan hotel before . We had lunch today at madinat Zayed SB they take 46 mins to take order for us and after 45 mins they take 30mins to place the order and they we have wait for 20 mins to get rich on the plates. Over all very very bad service. Rate 0/5

This is our favourite place so far in abu dhabi to have south indian breakfast. Love their dosa’s; miglai podi (with gunpowder)is great in taste, masala dosa, rava masala & maysore masala are also good. I feel their Paneer masala dosa is overstuffed; better to order only if u prefer too much stuffing inside your dosa.
We are a FAN of their mango lassi, looks great and tastes heavenly. We are yet to find a place that serves better mango lassi than this.
-Seating space is big
-usually crowded on weekends
-service is quick
-staff is nice

Premjith Raman
I ordered veg pulav at 1 PM and the order came to to my home at 3PM. And they want me to accept the cold rice.

When asked the delivery guy says there is only 1 person to deliver everywhere and the hotel also does not seems to give any care when we call them. They are least bothered.

Very bad experience.
Mohamed Shanil
I love the Paneer Dosa here. They are better than the one at Sangeetha. Their Chilli Gopi is spicy and add a good kick to everything else that will be on the table. They also have really good ghee Mysore Pak, after which you will fall asleep or get high.
Manikandan Sivalingam
Dinner menu is very good. Their variety chutney and sambar are best. I would have given 4* if their lunch business meal was good. It smelled like it got spoilt when I ordered around 3pm. Couldn't eat it. Packaging is very good. Dinner or breakfast menu is awesome. I will go for that always. Do order 1hr 30mins before you are hungry as they always delay in delivering eventhough they are 5 mins away frm my place.
Kunal Kumar S
Can you guys imagine south Indian restaurant in a place like abu dhabi serving authenticate taste must go if you are in abu dhabi feels like you are in india
Maah E Rooh
After a very long time we got a chance to try their food. Ordered masala dosa and ghee roast. Both were good. We saw them serving refill food to some people and it felt very nice. Their service was very good.
Parvathy Krishnakumar
I have been here more than a couple of times. Being an enthusiast for anything non veg, Saravanaa Bhavan was one of a select few restaurants which showed me that veg cuisine can actually be as entertaining and flavourful. Their masala dosas are all goods but the Channa Batura exemplary and is an all time favourite for me. I would strongly recommend this restaurant for anyone who has an inclination for South Indian cuisine. The decor is comfy, the staff are very friendly and the price is also reasonable . All in all it is definitely worth trying.
Prajwal Jagdish
Food is awesome...but only one thing I didn't like was me and my brother had gone at 1.30 pm on afternoon we asked for dosa the head waiter suggested that dosa is over after we saw a guest was served with dosa ..How can it be unfair for not to be served dosa which was not served to us as it was said during lunch time no dosa served..and when we ask for explanation they don't have answer to reply
Reena Soni
I just entered this restaurent while checking the menu out for options the waiter just closed the menu from one side literally banged it on the table and repeated puri dosa parotta 4 times literally and dint even let me see the menu its 1845 hrs and i think on the menu it says most of the dishes are available after 1830hrs ... wht kind of hospitality is this ? I feel like i m in some school canteen where i have been told what to eat ... guys from this place need serious training on how to behave with their guests !!!!! Zero thumbs down!!!! P.s thts how he jst banged like my hand .. and just now while taking a picture he snached it again ... god bless you man!
Mapleberry
Oh I loved the dosa and indian dessert at this place.. I loved South Indian food especially dosa and they have the best I’ve ever tasted it is well blended with chutneys they served with it
Rohina Salem Masood
We've had their tiffin items before and have liked the taste but today in the mood for a proper meal, we ordered the business meal. Priced at 14 dhs it's a steal! 3 varieties of rice (Sambhar rice, curd rice, tomato rice), poori-kurma and 1 side dish, along with papad n pickle, wash it down with sweet payasam!
The meal was so filling that I was finding it difficult to finish it. Loved the taste!
Gokul Nath
Ordered breakfast from saravanaa bavan.. the order was delivered on time.. and was tasty as well.. would recommend for some nice south i dian veggies...
Taste:8/10
Quality:7/10
Delivery time: 6/10

Delivery issue still same like before , late delivery, food pack was not so good the food was not hot , why I give 4* because today I get good taste , all the ingredients was nice , sambar taste was awesome, chutney was also very delicious
Arman Ibrahim
Very late response, delivery very poor, the Order was not look freshly cooked , tasteless sambhar
Gregorie John Ranin
This is my 1st indian restaurant and my 1st thali and dosa, i cant comment about the food because im not expert to indian food, the place is average, waiter could not speak fluent English i had a small trouble asking him about the menu.

Will not recommend. Ordered poori masala but it was not great at all.
Khusboo Baid
Don’t know if review matters! I ordered food and after they accepted they called and said they will deliver only after 2 hours even though it was showing 55 mins.. after 1 hour 20 mins they realised that they do not have one of the items I ordered and shouting on me when I questioned them! Pathetic service when it comes to delivery.. I have faced issues with them earlier too related to deliver!

After a lazy Saturday evening on beach. We ended up at saravana bhavan .
One of the largest veg restaurant chain in the world 🌎 and my go to place for authentic South Indian veg dishes🍴 .
Food is nice and perfect for casual dining or get to gather.
Prices💰 are reasonable and the ambience is average.
Food served here brings back smell and memories of local South Indian restaurant back home in India 🇮🇳.
We ordered
Mini idli- 4/5
Ghee roast dosa-5/5
Kara dosa- 4/5
Rava dosa -2.5/5
Vada sambar-3.4/5
Dahi vada -0/5 😷🤕🤢🤬
Falooda- 3/5

Overall I had a good experience and would come back again.

My go-to place for vegetarian, south Indian cuisine!! Whether it is in India, Sri Lanka or UAE. Love their masala dosa, chole bhature and uttapam followed by their famous filter coffee of course. Wish they had more dessert options though :(

Food served here brings back smells and memories of Tamil Nadu.i ordered plain dosa and mini idlies.the mini idlies were well upto my satisfaction.Sambar was fantastic. The service and ambience are pretty decent with a total family and friends atmosphere. All in all, other than the cost factor, everything else about the place was great.
MOHAMED MUSAMMIL
Idly too small
Arun
The order was delayed by 30 mins ( almost 90 mins for delivery). Which means the food was cold, and have been famished by then. The delivery person was non apologetic, saying that the other delivery person went somewhere... Real bad service.

the order is on time. ..

very good restaurant for people who loves south Indian dishes, dosa, pongal, vada everything i tried here is good taste and good quality with great service and freindly staff
Take Me Out To
One of my favorite vegetarian South Indian restaurants in Uae to get the most mouth savory Indian dishes.
My fav includes puri Bhaji, ghee roast and their most famous filter coffee.
The poori bhaji is soft and crunchy just perfect poori.
They have wide variety of selection for dosa’s all of which taste amazing.
Their service is very quick and the staff are quite welcoming. The restaurant manages to keep their ambiance up to the point. The view from the restaurant is really great to catch a glimpse of madinat Zayed area.
SS
Good for dosa especially Rava... the thali was sumptuous... in its category of light South Indian food it was ok ... they need to focus on ambience and cleanliness less though...
Naeemahmed Fatiwala
food was great but just for not doing accordingly to comments 2 stars i gave less
Mohammed Ali
Nice food and environment for family dine in their chole batura and dosa everyone will fall for derives was upto the mark and good restaurant of u have plans of having. A vegetarian Tamil Nadu cuisines

I ordered for 1 ghee roast and 2 pcs vada but received 2 ghee roast and 1 pc vada. Moreover food was so cold when it reached here. This service is not worth the price.

The best food to try at Sarvanaa Bhawan is Dry Fruit Rava MasaLa Dosa.
Afnas Pallithodi
Very nice ambience and very nice food ..prices are not high..cordial staffs also..one of my favorite restaurant...don’t miss their special tea...my favorite
Pathetic restaurant and service. Ordered from Zomato at 5.45pm and was told the food will be delivered by 6.26pm. Waited till 7.15pm and called the restaurant to check and was told that delivery starts only after 6.30pm then how can they accept an order with a delivery time even before they start delivery. Finally the delivery guy arrived at 7.38pm a leisurely 2 hours later. I did not accept the order and returned back the food. Never again from this place and a lesson to use cash on delivery option always on Zomato.

my favourite Indian restaurants in town ,
Best dishes that I would recommend- dosa, Puri with choley ,ghee pongal, vada, mushroom fry ,paratha, chapatti and one thing that is a must to have is their FILTER COFFEE 😍 , I don't like their juices and neither their Pani Puri ,One more suggestion would be that if u plan to have breakfast here try to go early 8-9am max 10 am to get the best of experience.
Balaji Gopinathan
Review based experience that I had 6 months back.

Based on a recommendation from a friend we had driven from Sharjah to Abu Dhabi just to have their dry fruit dosa..... Ohh bwoy and I should say it was worth the ride

Simple, Wholesome,Nourishing and absolutely tasty. I can easily say that this is the best place for a proper South Indian feast. This Unpretentious restaurant is only here to serve the best South Indian cuisines. They got everything just spot on in terms of flavours and spices and heat. Our favourite is the Special Thali which has a variations of different curries offered with Roti and rice. And I'm not even exaggerating, If you go there everyday and you order the special Thali you be pleasantly surprised that the curry's changes every single day and you'll be trying something new. it's just such a wonderful meal. We also love the paper dosa and the gobi 65 which tastes like chicken but made with cauliflower. (pics not added) but please do try that. it's so delish. You can't beat this place when it comes to South Indian food.

Great Thalis! One of the best places for South Indian Thalis either mini or otherwise. Full speed service usually, good service too. The best Filter Coffee too if you're into that.

A nice place for having South Indian food. I like the sequence of the chutneys depicting the Indian colours. The food and ambience are average though. Filter coffee was good. Wouldn't recommend Pav Bhaji and Chinese food which was quite a disaster and lacked taste and quality.

This restaurant is one of my favourite for authentic south indian vegetarian dishes. When you enter the restaurant you will get nice aroma of Sambhar which immediately tickles your taste bud. Service is very prompt.

Tried their special meals & diverse masala dosas on different occasions. A must go destination for anyone who loves South Indian vegetarian cuisine.

The USP of Saravanaa Bhavan is not exactly its taste but the ingredients. It is believed that they use the best ingredients and not cheap alternatives. For example they use only pure ghee (North Indians call it desi ghee) for their Pongal and not the vegetable oil (also known as vanaspati) mostly used by other South Indian restaurants. South Indian vegetarian restaurants still provide drinking water free of cost whereas most restaurants insist on your buying the costly bottled water. In fact here you can even ask for hot water, which is served free. But of late, the taste of most of the food items has been going down. The sambar served by them is never tasty as it seems they grind the lentils which is not done in a good sambar. Sometimes they don't check the items before serving, whether a dosa is burnt or an adai is half-cooked. Items which are supposed to be available at 7 PM may not be available till 7.30 or 8. The menu has been the same dull one. Highly bureaucratic as they require Head Office instruction even for providing simple saunf (fennel seeds), which is taken as a mouth freshener after food. They serve only the heavily sugar coated ones. Every time I go, I ask them to keep the simple plain ones too. They are still waiting for their Head Office approval apparently. But I keep going to these restaurants due to lack of choice for vegetarians and all said and done, Saravanaa Bhavan is one of the safest bets for South Indian food of reasonable standard.

Food
Nice south Indian food try dosa that's the best thing you can ever get in sarvana bhavan
Very clean Restaurant
Nice ambient
Staff is Asso good
Price is high compare to near by restaurants

Service provider like these assume that customers would accept anything they do if brand is established. Do some advertisements back home and set up one good branch elsewhere and the legacy carries.
Last time when I ordered masala dosa the guy brings normal dosa and then when asked he brings aloo masala in a cup. I didn’t know how to react but felt like laughing.
Expected things would be better now but even after 1 hr of order food doesn’t arrive.
This will be my last order with this restaurant.
The best vegetarian restaurant in Abu Dhabi. Whenever we go for shopping in madinat Zayed we used to go here for the dinner.

Our special request always here are Ghee Roast and pongal vada

Nice ambience but loud songs some time annoying.

Services are OK and recommended for families.

Your restaurant sucks in delivery ... Your delivery guys are not professional enuf to find the place when other restaurants can find and deliver us the food on time... please hire someone whom customers can depend and rely on...

We tried thali on friday and it ws really good. The quality and the taste ws very nice. The best part is even in afternoon they provide dosas which very few south indian restaurants provide at that time. The staff were courteous and friendly. Overall experience ws very good. Highly recommended

I do not understand why do restaurants accept online orders when they clearly cannot meet the set delivery time.
A delay of 10 minutes Is acceptable! But a restaurant which is 1block away from you takes 1.5hours to deliver your food that too ice cold!!

Upon calling the restaurant the person answering the phone says home delivery food will always be cold
U can either eat it or throw it and if you want hot food come and eat at the table.

Ashita Rathod
Whether eat at a Chennai outlet, Bangalore one or this Abudhabi one, one thing is common I.e bad lethargic service!!!😤😡
The staff now seems like everywhere behaves as if they are doing you a favor by taking your order.
Lack in common courtesy. And if your waiter vanishes and you call another waiter, he will tell you “not my table”.
To all this common behavior, on my this visit the waiter graciously forgot to place half of my order and we kept waiting and waiting and waiting.
Every time someone drags me to this restaurant saying, it’s a big chain n all and I say you will be sorry.
And 2 hours later the person walks out with 🤬 and me grinning by the side saying “told you so”.
The food is good, but the bad service is not worth it.

After having lunch from Madinat Zayed food court, we decided to go here to get Indian Sweets for dessert. When we entered it wasn’t crowded at 5:15 Pm on a weekend. First impression was it looked very clean & fresh & pretty good decor. There was No1 to welcome the customers. The sweets are displayed at the main cash counter. Prices are not mentioned along with the names of the Sweets. One cashier was present who was busy with his own work. We chose one Milk Peda type of sweet & one of my favorite which is Jalebi. He placed both the items on a weighing machine & when was the priced, he face went full on guessing mode & said “Uhhhhhhhh 6 Dhs” by looking up, which didn’t seem professional at all. Nonetheless, it was well packaged & tasted fine.

Update: Went here for lunch and had the Masala Dosa and Business Meal. The business meal had two different types of rice (Tomato Rice, Sambar Rice and Curd Rice) which I feel is a bit too much of rice. Maybe just two rice items would’ve been perfect. One chapati and one dry curry which tasted great! Good portion for 14 Dhs.
The Masala Dosa was good too and great portion for 11 Dhs but unfortunately there was a strand of hair in the sambar which was such a put off.

The decor is simple yet elegant and lots of space!

They seriously need to work on their delivery time, most of the time the order comes waaaay tooo late.
Almost one or one and half hours late
if one is ready to adjust with that, then go ahead and order

Located at the Madinat Zayed mall, it can be easily located by the locals as well as tourists.

It serves variety of South indian dishes.

It was a pleasure to find a dosa being served with 4 different chutneys innate of its origin with the flavorsome sambhar. A wide range of dosas to select from. My personal favorite being ghee roast.

There are south and north indian thalis too being served here.

An absolute pleasure for any Indian to discover this place.

Ambience could be better but acceptable.

Service is quick and friendly.

Overall, an above average place.

I wish there was a negative rating. My order was declined 3 times after waiting for 5 minutes each time. The vada duo was tasteless. The service was pathetic. They need to work a lot on their customer service.

Definitely a place to head if you are looking to grab a quick South Indian breakfast ! The restaurant located in Madinat Zayed is a fav if you are craving dosas and some good filter coffee ! This place is usually packed on Friday mornings ! And if you can't make up ur mind what to orde, you can go for the mini tiffin which has mini idlis dosa and kesari and try the diff items. You get your order quickly which is the best part.

I usually order poori bhaji and Masala dosa over here. I like the taste. It would be better if they would serve one more poori!
The waiters here seem to speak only one language? Tamil!

We had a very bad experience from saravanaa bhavan. We are just opposite to the hotel(al badar exchange building),it took them 1 hour 30 mins to deliver the food, and that too after calling them 3 times. They delivered very cold food too. We ordered cheese masala dosa but i didnt find any cheese in it, they delivered normal masala dosa and charged for the cheese dosa. We will think twice before ordering from here again.

Food is good but do not order for home delivery via app. they taken more than 1.5 hrs for my delivery..... too much time for delivery. Most of other restaurants, that i tried via app. the average delivery time ranges from 20 to 30 minutes.

During Ramazan I had a craving for vegetarian food, so i walked in to Saravanaa Bhavan. It was iftar time and we reached 10 min before iftaar. Apart from us there was one more family in the restaurant. we order Palak,Dal and Bhindi Cuisine, they took around 20-25 minutes to serve in-spite of the fact that there were very limited customer at that time. I don't know how they have make all the cuisine so horrible, food was very very hot and without any taste, what we can feel on our tongue was a tasteless hot food. Terrible experience!!! We will not come again :(
AbsolutelyFabFood
We ordered 2 special meals food was below average and unhygienic. The banana leaves used under was dirty on which they served food. When I was calling authorities for complaint staff started apologising by saying they will loose their job. I thought at least I should post it here for awareness!

Very rude person at desk . Suggest never order for this Resturant through the Zomato app as outlet have not briefed Zomato team with exact information of timings and availability of dishes . I received the order confirmation and after my order went to kitchen for preparation as per the Zomato app I felt like adding some more dishes in the order and I called up the outlet straight away and after giving my order number to the operator I get to know half of the dishes which I order they are not available at that time ...!!😡 and same time I told operator I have the confirmation of the order 15 min back and I didn't get any notification for the same . Operator didn't even apologise and then I want to cancel the order but he didn't even answer my question back just kept the phone down , after that I shared my concern with Zomato help desk they immediately responded and helped me in resolving my problem. I think SARAVANAA BHAVAN team needs big time training in customer service as ...!!! now days competition is so much and you can get food and beverage easily and every where , the only difference is about the service and that's the only key to a successful hospitality business .
I'm Yas
The world famous veg tamilnadu restaurant. I like their pongal and medhu vada. Really nice quality foods and quantity are less.

Prices are reasonable and services needs to improve.

If someone asked me to eat vegetarian food for dinner, I would refuse usually as I love meat but my Bestfriend assured me that this is worth the diet change for the night.

Located at the foodcourt near the Filipino restaurant Hot Palayok, this resto has a very huge space for seating numerous guests so no complains and a large option for vegetarian dishes all originated from India. The waiters are very polite and helpful especially with the menu items.

We ordered two kinds of Gobis - Gobi 65 (cauliflower) and Gobi Paneer (a type of fresh cheese),Poori Bhaji and Butter Roti with dip.

The Gobis were absolutely delicious, both are coated in spiced orange coating and deep fried. The result was crunchy and tasty starters.

The Butter Roti was a bit oily but tastes great especially with the dip made of spices, chillis and paneer cubes.

The Poori Bhaji was crispy and HUGE. Just one is enough for two of us. The chickpea dip that came with it had spices but was mild compared to the roti dip.

Overall, It was so good that I did not even care that I ate no meat for dinner. Will surely come back.

The taste of south Indian in the desert land was unexpected. The taste was nice, so was the ambiance. It's pure veg so it is quite uncommon here.

So unhappy with the quality of food that was delivered. I stay a building away from this place and it took them one hour to deliver. The food was cold and tasted really bad

Good place...nice ambience...vegetarian...helpful staff.
Ordered rava masala dosa...it was yum and crispy.
I have already visited their branch in CP, India...same taste and same quality.
I highly recommend this place.

It is very disappointing and embarrassing that they don't accept cards if the bill is below 50 AED. Not sure if this is legal(To not to accept cards), however it is a pure inconvenience for the costumer. If two people are having a masala dosa and 2 teas, it wont cross AED 50. MAde this recommendation to staff and they seems quite rigid on the policy and did the favor to us by charging the card for less than 50AED. Would try to avoid this restaurant in future.
On the other note the ghee roast masala dosa was best i had in Abu Dhabi

This is my weekend breakfast location almost once in every month.. located in Madinat Zayed Shopping Mall food court area, there is plenty of seating options..

Personal favorites - filter coffee, puri bhaji and kesari bath

Not so fond of their idli's a bit too big/ fat for my liking.. however, their mini tiffin is awesome and worth the price..

Lots of adulteration in d food items, esp
Coconut chutney is mixed with some flour nd after 1 hour it smells different. Price charged is not met by quality. So sad. We should send it for laboratory checking.

A cozy dining place in the busy Madinat Zayed shopping centre, they serve vegetarian dishes which are worth the try. The price are a bit pricey than the usual indian food, but it's worth

I think the chef has been changed ... previously the taste was extraordinary....now recently the food taste is horrible...the standard has been reduced ....very disappointing on taste now a days ...

a vegetarian restaurant shop inside madinat zayed shopping center at foodcourt area. my husband and i been curious on this restaurant for a long time, to what this place has to offer that can satiate our palate. not until today when we decided to dine here. servers were so assistive and helpful especially upon ordering, since its an indian cuisine. The server ensures to explain all our query regarding the foods we ordered. but without any regret, we enjoyed all the food we ordered which had been so cheap and worthy of its price.
Ajay Ramachandran
Saravana bhavan...a name...a brand very famous for its vegetarian dishes....i have been ardent fan for its branches in chennai...i was expecting similar taste for its abu dhabi branch...but for my disappointment it was not to expected mark...dishes were too salty, flavours was missing, and ofcourse crispiness of dishes were not there....and i stopped there..but again being a foodie i tried lately with them last week and i find them improving..but still way to go compared to other brand restaurants and i still believe they can improve....and for variety they have a lot to choose from but on taste still needs improvement.....

Usually most of us skip such places or don't think of giving a review as we take them for granted. Or may be its just me. I come here for traditional dosa idli vasa sambhar. You come , you order, food is banged in front of you in seconds, you eat you go. Mostly done in 15 minutes at most. Ambience is avg. staff dont talk much. But the decent traditional taste of dosa makes if for lack of service. Nothing much to write about!
Ajit Singh Bawa
Pathetic Service and no body is bothered, you come - don't come to their place, u sit u don't sit... u order u don't order... waiters here are busy in their own world... truly disappointed...! U need to be a SOUTH INDIAN only, to get noticed here... SAD...
Ankur Gulati
The owners need to really look into this seriously, the people working there are spoiling your reputation. So WAKE UP...AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT ASAP
Kirti Veluri
Extremely poor food and the waiters were least interested in the feedback! Will never come back and will urge my friends to never visit this restaurant.

Excellent dosas and lovely mango lassi. Lots of good places for dosas in this area, but this one the best so far for the dosa itself! Sauces that come with the dosa also excellent. Highly recommended and lots of other yummy looking dishes and specials.

Saravana Bhavan one of the Best Veg Restaurant. They still make the best of dosa's and sambar. Afternoon meals really tasty and good.
They need to improve their service.
Ppl who are new to this restaurant you guys need to try it out.

The staff was very rude and unprofessional. The served food was cold and stale. The waiter reluctantly replaced it with another stale plate. Pathetic.

Been to quite a few locations, in UAE and outside as well.
Like this place - decent portions, food tastes good (i judge South Indian restaurants by their dosas andrhe masal dosa was great), huge area so seating is generally not a problem.
Very popular place, sometimes you have to wait a bit for your food.
Recommend.

A friend and I were came here for thalis. The thalis came really fast and was delicious, moreover it was unlimited. Would definitely like to try some of their other dishes.

This place has the authentic taste with great varieties. Though the Service is the worst. Once have been served cold food and had to leave the place because the staff was really rude.Been here more than 4-5 times.. and always received extremely poor service and management. The orders are always wrong, cold and not prepared well.
They prefer south Indian customers over others, very inhospitable staff.

Ordered for
special thali. I love the spicy dal the most amongst other varieties.
Poori bhaji
Onion uttapam
Plain dosa
Filter coffee
The taste is outstanding. I wish I could start to like this place as I am a big fan of South Indian food and this place makes it right but unfortunately doesn't serve it right.
Popular restaurant for simple, good and wholesome south Indian food. Their dosas and filter coffee are highly recommended. Service is a bit slow though.

Food: one of the best location to have south Indian food. Quality and tastes are authentic.
Location: Located at mall so good for shopping and entertainment access
Service: can you please start prepaid service? I was not done with my food and table was not cleared and the guy was presenting the bill. Not at all good gesture.
0 points for service.

Claimed as world's no. 1 veg restaurant, this chain has many branches all over the world. Basically a Tamil Nadu restaurant, which serves south & north Indian and Chinese dishes. Specialist in south Indian food, don't expect much from other two.
Mostly visited by those who want to eat south Indian meals or dosa.
Shanid64
I have visited this place couple of times, i can say they don't even know how to treat their customers, staffs were rude and their service was bad. Their food was kinda okay; Only Palak dosa was good, vadai and masala dosa were cold, sambar was salty. And they took 40 mins to bring all these items to table. Overall it was a bad experience for me. Hope they will improve.

A south Indian vegetarian restaurant , specially for all dosa lovers , its the heart spot for many south Indians living near by Madinat Zayed Mall , we been to dinner ,and for us it was the first time so unknowingly I ordered Business Meal , i was the only one who ordered rice that time had to wait some time to get the food , but my brave hubby ordered dosa which came in no time ; crispy, delicious dosa with generous amount of ghee and the sides too was good .
TIP : better visit on weekdays to enjoy your delicious food in a calm atmosphere, on weekends the crowd will be too high .
Melron Lewis
This place gets a 4.5 rating from my side only for their ghee masala dosa...its one of the best i have had anywhere in abu dhabi...Well made with 3 different varieties of chutney...and ofcourse the ghee on the dosa...the best part is they serve it anytime you go there unlike other restaurants where its only for breakfast and then evenings....One ghee masala dosa is enough to fill your stomach...If you happen to visit this place dont forget to try it out.

Average food with a low quantity at the price of two dishes elsewhere. Very high prices charged for even the nominal of meals. Hygiene and quality is good though

My Top spot for a South Indian Breakfast.. I was a regular to their Dubai Al Barsha outlet on Fridays and Today I took my wife for 1st time to their outlet in Abu Dhabi... you never feel soo good when you see those yummy, crispy and soulful masala dosa in front of you...
Pravin Monickaraj
I am big fan of Saravana Bavan in Chennai, India; my friend I visited the Madina Zayed branch with all excitement, but was very disappointed, the sambar was salty, the Vadai was bad, we had ordered the days special palak dosa and mysore masala dosa, both were dry and taste less... They are spoiling the name of the franchise.
Saniha Aysha Ajith
Conveniently located in Madinat zayed shopping center, this place is ALWAYS crowded. We havee visited this place several times and have tried the staple foods like dosa, idly, etc. Recently, we tried their gobi manchurian and kothu paratha and it was good. No complaints. Its a bit on the pricey side compared to other restaurants serving the same food, but its not bad overall.

Being a true chicken lover I rarely visit this place ,but whenever I visit this place I do not regret coming here . Whenever we have a craving for having South Indian food , this is where we reside ! It's an authentic tamilian restaurant and the food here gives us a feel of being in Tamil Nadu ! The quality of the food is good ! It has a very confined menu but the things available are good in its own way ! We had the South Indian thaali this time and it was good ! It was truly a pleasure to have the thaali and I cannot deny from appreciating it !
Sruthi Venkat @the_iyer_kitchen
Being honest here. I AM A TAMILIAN. I COME from the LAND OF SARAVANA BHAVAN. and i have probably been to this restaurant in malaysia, dubai, chennai(several branches) and many more that i dont remember of. But sadly, this BRANCH IS THE ONLY ONE THAT DOES NOT KEEP UP TO THE STANDARDS OF OTHERS and it hurts me to day this... Since i know what the true taste of this brand is. So pleeeaase try to improve the taate and service especially. The waiters have forgotten to smile, even while tipping and our happy faces were quite disappointing when we got done.
Manuvmathew
Hi , here the food , I can say it's good quality ,
But the home delivery is a disaster ,pls double check the order always , because you may get half items only at the time of delivery ........that too late .....
Pankaj Jamwal
Saravanan Bhavan at Madina Zayed is a pure vegetarian Indian restaurant, quality of food is good and food here taste same like food in the streets of India. Pricing is very economical and offer a great value for money. A great option for low budget vegetarian Indian meal.
Mehnaz Yasmin
Had to wait for a while to get our table. But after we got it, the waiter came to take our order after so long. Ordered the sweet corn vegetable soup, puri masala and porotta meal. We got our meal real quick. Puris and porotta were brought fresh and hot . I love the simple potato masala along with the puri. The sweet corn was average. To finish it of, we ordered for a chai. I loved the bubble foam on top of it. But tasted really bitter and of evaporated milk.

Love the food, they should open online orders. Their dry fruit milk shake is to die for! Always a great place to have a good veg thali. Pls have online bookings

The restaurant is located on the top most floor of the Madinat Zayed complex, above Lulu hypermarket. It's pretty easy to locate on the floor.

They are usually open early for breakfast and have the usual vegetarian fare served fresh and hot.

Service is acceptable, as it is almost never crowded during breakfast so there is always someone to take your order and look after the table without delays.

We visit regularly (at least once a week) for a dose of excellent vegetarian food.

The vades are served crispy, fresh and hot whilst the dosa range is not extensive, they have a reasonable variety of the regular variants. All of which are quite filling and great for breakfast.

They do a seriously good Chai and milk coffee, served the traditional Indian street way! With a small cup and another to cool your tea down to drinkable state! Loved it.

Prices are quite reasonable and are good on the pocket too.

Definitely recommended

Saravanna Bhavan used to be good! That is until the competition showed up next door/close-by. Whilst many perhaps still prefer their food, that unmistakable taste has gone down. Equally sad that their charm of food has mysteriously disappeared. Hope that the other Saravanna Bhavan's (world over even) have maintained that quality and taste.

We came here after work..So was really hungry and exhausted . To start off with the service was not good..The server just bluntly said (without giving menu) ,only three types of dishes are available. We felt it was a bit rude . I really wanted to have mini Tiffin 🙍

The food came in pretty fast ..We ordered Ghee roast dosa, Paneer Dosa, Wada set and Tea. Paneer dosa , my friend didn't enjoy it , since he had the same dish from here before and it looked and tasted different, which was a disappointment. Ghee roast was good , I felt the sambhar was a tad bit salty. The tomato chutney was really good. Wada set was crisp and soft , perfect . Tea , a bit too milky and sugar-free for my taste , and I didn't mention that I didn't need sugar . The overall experience was not enjoyable for me or for my friend. Don't think I would come here again.

Nice south Indian food some of are we authentic test of South India Maysure Masala Dosa, Idly, Bisibalibhaat, Mix dryfriut shake too good.... When ever I came Abu Dhabi I like to this place to have south Indian food...

We love Saravanaa Bhavan everywhere. They have a variety of south Indian dishes to offer. Most of them are good. They have a few chinese and north Indian dishes too. But they are good at the South Indian fare.
Ambience is good however the tables are set very close and gives a congested feel. The service is very quick. Staff mainly converse in tamil but they manage to understand what you want.
Sastry Tadepalli
I have visited this place for breakfast, the service is terrible. After 20 minutes of ordering Idly was told it's not available. Single poori comes WITHOUT BHAJI when asked was told to Enjoy it with Coconut chutney . So I would never ever recommend this place
Vaibhav Mittal
Never been to saravanaa. Always heard of it. But i got the chance to eat my sunday breakfast here. Everything was beyond expectations. Just yum.
Vivek Ramanathan
Today we had ONAM sadya meals here..unfortunately we found poori and other unnecessary items in our plates..it was not at all authentic ONAM sadya....service was poor and staffs were rushing to finish the turns only.......volunteering was not there......overall not pleased with the experience....need more effort to maintain the tag...
Abdul Rafeeq Rafeeq
Really disappointed both quality of food and service .waiters are behaving as we are there to eat for free .they took nearly 25 minutes to take our order.i am sure I won't go there again and I will not suggest anybody to go to the "no.1 vegetarian Indian restaurant in the world".
Neil Motiani
This restaurant was descant we ordered the samber vara there was onions on top of the samber and we ordered the paper masala dosa it was thicker then the regular dosa my mom got some skin problem because of this food.
This outlet ruins the image of the franchise !
Nimisha Khandelwal
Bad experience..they dont provide masala with the dosa. When asked for the manger he appeared after half an hour. Staff is not at all helpful. In Fact they serve food as if they obliging you
Waste of time
Sana
Yummy dosas..and filter coffee jus awsome...! I love only 2 places in abu dhabi for typical good indian food- Saravana Bhavan and The Favourite Restaurant in Abu dhabi. Best food and no regret!
Ahmed Thahir
Nice restaurant located in mussafah also first time I know about dry fruit dosa in this restaurant & eat it quiet different taste. good for vegetarians.
Food Addiction
For the veggies this one of the most reliable stop, they have a tamil nadu touch of love to their food..very decent price..i would a say more of a breakfast snack stop..

Bad
We ordered breakfast for home delivery today
Idli vada and pongal vada
Old charm of Saravana Bhavan is gone quality
I remember 15yrs before having breakfast in chennai Saravana bhavan

Their quality and taste has gone away as the brand value has increased
Nadir
This is one of the very few places in the area to have good vegetarian good. The place is nice, quite and cozy. Food and service is of regular saravanaa bhavan standard.
The Happy Foodie
The best South Indian veg restaurant in Abu Dhabi. Ghee roast and vada is delicious. Must try filter coffee. big dining area. very good and clean service.
Sam M
Used to love this place. But now every hing has reduced in size. Dosas have shrunken, vadas have become small pellets may be next time will be served in capsules! Even chutneys have dwindled and at times missing altogether! What happened??? I'd rather pay a buck more here n there than have to eat micro portions.
Sudheer Jai Krishnan Sasidharan
The worst people who are having a very high ego and doesn't know how to speak with the people.. They started a restaurant in mussafah, abu dhabi and all the three times I called them, for one or other reason they don't want to serve the customer..moreover they are telling to go to the head office and they will be arrogant only.. Keep up the same ego and you will shut down your branch very soon
Manoj Rajan
One of the best ever South Indian veg restaurant I must say. Even its breakfast, lunch or sweets they serve I am quite satisfied by the taste. Been to this chain of restaurants from last 10 years right from Ooty days.

Being a South Indian once in a while you definitely get the cravings for South Indian delights and the goto place is Saravana which a house hold tradition back there in your place.
Well we all know they have spread their wings globally and it was not hard for us to find one on Abu Dhabi . So this time it was Gobi 65 , idly and Mysore Masala Dosa, Spinach Dosa.
The food was heavenly, No doubts everything was perfect and well balanced, Idli's were soft, Sambar was amazing and Dosas were crispy and well done. So all said and done one believes this place I'll deserve a 5 on 5 for their food which apparently is but their service is a different question.
Our starter came first then the next dishes didn't appear and after inquiring twice we are told they were waiting for us to finish the starter which makes me think what if we are slow eaters and decided to finish the starter for hours, makes me wonder if there is rule book to finish the starter ASAP. I also found arguments on few other tables and the people who were serving food were not at their best behaviors.
Along with the excellent food if they pay attention to the customer service then they will be on top of their game.
Smriti Sudish
I love south Indian food. Any my reviews will be biased over here.
Saravana is a huge brand back home and I am glad its here .My go to place to satiate my rasam & sambar cravings.

I always go for the meals , and have tried the dosas as well. I love all the items in the meals and the chutneys they provide with the dosas.
One thing to highlight is their interiors are done well. Where it doesnt look like a typical Indian eatery. I have taken a punjabi friend of mine and she couldn't stop raving (Her first south indian cuisine experience).
The sarvanaa bhavan at Barsha 1 and this was visited by me. Not much change in the standard or taste.
Its value for money and a must must try for south Indian food.
Chandrasekhar Ganesh
One of the highly rated restaurant back in India that serves really bad food spoiling its reputation. It's competitors are serving better taste.

Good: nothing. Even South Indian dishes tasted average.

For god's sake please send your chef to taste FALOODA from Gazebo or Lazeez. Let him learn how to make it. FALOODA was the biggest mistake we did and it had frozen hard noodles for semiya.

For everyone with high hopes, this restaurant definitely gonna disappoint you.
Sundara Gurushev
Breakfast lunch and dinner outing for authentic South Indian food, your go to place is here! The most famous chain of restaurants back in India, they've stayed true to their roots. The food is always amazing at this outlet. The service depends on how crowded the restaurant is. If you're eating at Saravana Bhava, make sure you have something with the Sambar here. Their sambar is delicious. Also the kesari you get here, has an amount of ghee but at the same time it's rich and soft.
Overall, pocket friendly, good service and good food.
Akhila Anand
My favourite South Indian restaurant chain, I've tried this place out in various cities in UAE and India, but the quality never varies.

It's quite ordinary ambience wise, but this branch had particularly nosy waiters, and they weren't very efficient either.

Food wise: all the dosas, and the different kinds of chutney, are a stand out! Filter coffee enthusiasts are definitely in for a treat. Everything else is pretty good too, but I'm not the biggest fan of their uttapam.

For any South Indian food cravings ever, just go here, it's the best place for a good budget meal.
Rushikesh
Authentic south indian snacks served by very own south indian staff..
Service is bit slow but food quality and quantity are both good..
Idli, dosa and aviyal were excellent..
Wada was stone cold..
Coffee at the end made the day..
Be prepared to wait in que on thursday night and fridays..
But if u are longing for South Indian snacks then the place is worth the wait..
P.S. please enquire whats hot before ordering
Binaifer Fitter
Good place for breakfast and snacks. The masala dosa is good but can't figure out why the medu varas are served with a sprinkling of raw onions. Service is slack and sometimes the food is pretty cold.
Sherina Khan
Went for dinner with friends as we were in mood of Chat and Thali. It was a little early so the restaurant was empty. We ordered a papdi chat and thali for ourselves. The chat was ok, not too good as it only had papdi and less amount of chickpeas in it. It would have been much better if they had added dumplings (pakode) in it. The thali was bang on. We instantly fell in love with the thali as it arrived and our love only grew as we took the first bites of everything on the thali. From the fresh hot puri to the tasty sabzi and rasam and what not. Everything was delicious. The halwa too was good. Our thali cravings met justice. Can't wait to visit again. Keep up the good work👍

They only deliver from 6pm onwards. have eaten in the restaurant couple of times all good no complaints, my favourite are the devilled potatoes and their juices are nice.
Aman Khetan
The ambience is normal and the menu is fine the food is OK but the service is really horrible ..... wasn't very happy with the service .....
Foodaholic🍴
One of the well known south Indian restaurants across the world. However i would rate it a 3.0 coz of the poor service. Food is good, the restaurant setup is good.Delivery of food is fine. But the attention they give to customers isnt upto par. Many a time we would have to wave out to staff to catch their attention and for a person like me with less patience, it isn't pleasing. When you have an option like Sangeetha restaurant in Abu Dhabi where u get really good food and real quick service, this restaurant definitely doesn't score above 3.
Guys, go and try out Sangeetha Restaurant!
Nowfal IG
5 out 5 just for the Sambar.. And it's not a one time wonder.. Consistently good.. Will try to have a recurring calendar event - Friday breakfast till I get bored..
Reji Babu
Saravanaa Bhavan needs no introduction to South Indian food lovers. the hospitality here is at par with what the tamilians are known for. It's not just the Masala Dosa, for a change you can try their excellent mix veg porotta. Please refrain from ordering any North Indian Dishes. I tried their aloo paratha and I wouldn't recommend it. Service is quick. Be very clear of what you order as language is definitely a barrier between you and your steward/ attender.
On the way out your may also want to pack some Sweet ( like ghee mysore pak) or savoury ( like muruku)
Aj
food is good and tasty price is reasonable not very clean but ok
Sanjay Nair
We thought the restaurant will be as of the same standard as of chennai branch but to my disappointment it wasn't the same. We ordered ghee dosa, masala dosa and tea. All were average not as per the expectations.
Abhisek Ghosh
I have visited sarvana bhavan in Delhi and also in dubai. Today I visited their branch in Abu dhabi madinat Zayed. It was late afternoon and considering the size of the outlet there were very few guests. Given that lunch hours are usually busy I guess the service staff were a bit worn out, nevertheless, it still doesn't give an establishment like them to be appearing sloppy to their customers. There was a bit of a challenge on the language front however we had to ask for the menu since we didn't know what was available at that time. The waiter just came to our table asking for our order without presenting the menu. I was quite disappointed with the way they were responding to our additional requests as well. I have zero complaint about food. The food was just awesome but I will not go back to this location just because of the service. I prefer dubai outlet any day.
⭐foody⭐
Nice place to have south Indian food.
Loved their masala dosa very crispy and filter coffee👌👌👌
Their uttapa and meduvada are OK.
I liked their sambar and chutneys which were available in different flavours ....
But one disappointment is that their staffs roam around you unnecessarily
Mahesh Iyer
I rate them low on service quality. Went for a breakfast at 10:30am with family. The order is taken and after half an hour they tell us some of the items are now not available since breakfast time closes at 11am !!! I would anyday prefer to go to Sangeetha Restaurant compared to Saravanaa Bhavan.
Archana Rayamajhi
If I want some decidedly superior quality dosa, puri the size of a basketball 😂 and some masala chai for all under Dhs30, i go to Saravanaa Bhawan.
N S
My friend and I were craving dosa so we decided to hit this place up as none of the other outlets in the food court looked that appetizing. We ordered a Masala dosa and one plain dosa. The dosas were quite good.

Service was quick and friendly. Also, I really like the classy furniture this place had. We got a nice seat by the window. I wouldn't say it was the best dosa I've tasted but it was pretty good.
Rahul
Worse place to go...zero customer service... Waiters suck in this place...rude and get a feeling food is served here for free...strongly recommend to starve than going to this place.
Lovely.foodie
I went this restaurant alone.because i was too hungry n tired of eating outside food.i made plan in madina zayed sarvana bhavan n i order rice thali.had some lentils n curries with that.i enjoyed poori n rasam.price was 18 aed.n i was full.it is good restaurant i will go again
Vanrick Zuzarte
By far the best south Indian restaurant in Abu Dhabi. .. don't let anyone else tell you different. .. their dosas are the best and the thalis are among the best... my weekend breakfast place...

A very good place for a family outing and if a pure vegetarian restaurant. Saravanaa bhavan has quiet a reputation and hence didnt have to think twice to eat here.
The idli and medu wada here are very good and idlis very soft, do try all its chutneys which they offer with your idli or dosa.
Apart from the idli and dosas one of my favourite here is the sheera-loaded with ghee (good enough to send your diet out of the window) but definitely worth a try.
They also offer chinese but its best if you just stick to the indian side of the menu.
The service is very quick and not too heavy on the walet too.

Cost for 2-50AED

Ambience-3.5
Service-4
Staff-3.5
Food-3.5
Value for money-4

South india foods choices are pretty less... This is one good place for that

Ghee roast is my personal fav.... N their masala chai...

Bru coffee is pretty strong...

I had also tried their paneer dosa... But it was way too heavily stuffed with paneer... So all i cud taste was paneer n no dosa..
Deepak Sewani
A fairly gud place to eat. The parotta with chana was really nice. Ordered chana at least 3 times. The chutneys were really nice but they need to improve on their sambar. The masala dosa was ok..needs to be cooked well..the tomato onion uthapa was gud to have too. The filter coffee was not so strong but was pretty gud.

Was pretty excited to know that saravanaa bhavan was opening a new outlet here in abudhabi. Their outlet in karama is very famous and the food you get there is class. This out let is a complete let down when compared to their branch in karama. Food is oily, they are supposed to be oily, but here I can actually drain the oil and use it for some where else. Anyone who has not visited their branch in dubai might love this place , else it is a total let down.
Dipon Dutta
Great location, great food, great service. In short, must visit for all south Indian food lovers. Lots of variety. I tried different dishes every time I was there. Most of the dishes are teasty.
Dru_monk
I had the best dosa of Abu Dhabi here. Their kara dosa and faluda is lip smacking good. I also ordered paneer 65 but that was not upto the mark. They have great variety of idlis too. Except South Indian they also serve chinese, pav bhaji, chole bhature ,biryanis and amazing filter coffee. This place is really crowded and hence sometimes the service is slow.
Renjan
The last restaurant I'll go in the food court of madinat zayed is saravana bhavan. Worst service and the food is not that great too. I guess the customer base of this particular outlet has reduced recently.
Naveen Kumar
It is one of our regular haunts for South Indian food .its rava masala soda and Mysore masala dosa are really yummy .the place is clean and now a days service is also quick #bbcgfsdxb #inuae
Definitely recommended for veg south indian food

Was in abu dhabi on work purpose and visited Sarvanaa Bhavan (SB) during lunch time. Since we went after 1400 hrs the place was not very crowded and seating was instant. My colleagues ordered veg meals and i wanted to avoid veg meals (so that i do not doze off in the post lunch meetings) & hence ordered rawa dosa masala. Surprisingly my order came in prior to the meals & the dosa was well prepared and the chutneys were yummy and went for second helpings for the chutneys. My colleagues were in full praise for the meals and it reflected during the meetings we had post lunch :)Service was just ok & pricing was reasonableSuggested to visit if you are in the vicinityTill then Happy Eating & Happier Living ...

Good for vegetarian varieties. Simple and delicious. Meals are very good. Love the curd vada and filter coffee. Puri and other normal food prepared in a delicious way.
Mehnaz Zulfikar
I am fond of dosas but i have realized that each time i eat here i have stomach ache and uneasiness all day. The taste seems to be okay but my personal experience has not been good by far. Will not recommend

We had been here for South Indian breakfast last Friday. I have been to Saravana Bhavan in Tamil Nadu and have always enjoyed their idlis and dosas.

We ordered a plate of pooris, ghee masala dosas, vadas and coffee. The flavours were definitely missing. The dosas were dry, probably from too much resting. The pooris were hot and nice. The bhajji was delicious. The vadas were crispy. The coffee was hot.

Everything we ordered met expectations and that was a problem. Saravana Bhavan is a popular brand, especially among people from Tamil Nadu and Bangalore. The flavors I remember are missing and the food is ok.

The service seems to be hurried even though there were hardly any people in the restaurant. The food is mediocre, and a bit overpriced considering Saravana Bhavan is a big brand.
Mayank Sharma
Indian, authentic, vegetarian. Visit only if you have a ample time to wait for the order. True south Indian cuisine. Try special thali. It's huge and tasty.
Jawad Haider
Great Food, Great Ambiance, Good Service and Value for Money. Even a meat-o-holic like me loves the joint for its authentic south Indian dishes.
The must try is the Ghee roast Dosa and their Filter Coffee. (sometimes I feel their coffee is better than Starbucks and Costa put together)

Must try for every one all their options re vegetarian but almost all dishes are tasty.
Vikas Syal
Simply done up place with practical seating. We had ordered Saravanaa special meals & Masala Dosa . The meal /thali was nice especially Rasam & cluster bean poriyal . The color of all gravy items was same which could be changed to make it more eye appealing. Masala Dosa was nice especially the chutneys accompanying it. Worth going for veg south Indian meal
Attitude Freak
the best veg restaurant u feel like having anytime u go out..... i loved the thali here with varieties of gravies and sweet dish at last should try the coffee completes the meal.... me and my friend even tried the paneer manchurian semy gravy liked it too.... good one for snacks as well an evening chat would be best

I'm a bit torn writing this review. Previously I enjoyed this restaurant for its crispy dosas and sweet filter coffee. I dealt with the surly waitstaff and very slow "we're here to stand and socialize, not serve customers" attitude because I liked their thalis and dosa enough to overlook it. However, at my last meal I sat near the open kitchen and saw multiple instances where the cooking staff was not hygienic. When I ordered juice and watched a man put the broom down and start slicing fruit without washing his hands or putting on gloves, I was not happy. I also watched as he added tap water directly into the fruit juice. They should not be adding water to start, secondly, I don't even want to imagine the state of Madinat Zayed's water cysterns. These observations on one visit have made me lose faith in the sanitation and hygiene of Saravana Bhavan's kitchen. Apparently the attitude the front of house staff has towards customers extends to the kitchen as well. There are other crispy dosa to be found in this city.

I went to sarvana Bhavan a couple of days ago with my husband. We ordered a Paneer dosa, a Rava Masala Dosa and Medu vada.In drinks I ordered a mango lassi. The food is exceptionally good, all the items were very yummy. The Chutneys accompaining the dosas were also very delicious, infact i asked for more tomato Chutney. The service is very fast. The lassi however tasted like a mango shake instead of lassi. The only thing which I disliked is that they brought our bill even before we had finished with our😐. To sumup I would say that, its an economical, vegetarian restaurant with yummy food. I will definitely be going back to try more food.

A very bad experience today morning. This place has constantly lost its charm. Odered breakfast with couple of ghee roast and puri bhaji. Staff serving us Krishnamoorthy looked like he was doing us a favor . Food was literally slammed on our table. Not going back ever.
Mohamed Naeem
Saravanaa is a well known name for south indian cuisine. Hence I am not surprised that the service and quality of the food is upto the mark. I'll highly recommend their Paper Masala Dosa with a hint of Ghee or the Business Lunch.
Meghna Ananth
Very Bad experience. Pathetic so called "chilly parotta" . It was filled with raw cabbage. It was so sweet with all the ghee and carrot. It was neither chilly or kothu parotta. The vada we ordered was cold n oily. How can they go wrong in idly???? It was rough Idlis. The saving grace was the Rava Masala Dosa. They don't have the concept of mini tiffin here. A big Let down!!!!!

This is not my first instance . Saravana Bhavan in Dubai is also not worth it. I recommend Sangeeta Veg , much better than this restaurant.

Can Let it go .... you won't miss much.

I'm die hard fan of sarvana bhawan. Be it be Delhi or london, they never disappointed me....infact always made me walk out with utter satisfaction of eating amazing South Indian.

I often crave for delicious South Indian delicacies. While my recent visit to Abu Dhabi, I visited sarvana bhawan and with my surprise, they were not up to the mark even!

Food was tasting no where close to authentic & delicious South Indian what sarvana bhawan serves. Their badam milk was also no where close to what they usually serve in UK or India.

I hope this review make some difference and whosoever is managing the place do the needful as its review from their true patron!

PULSED PROTEIN PUNCH: UTTAPAM is South India's prequel to Pizza made with protein rich Urad Dahl, topped with tomatoes, onion, chillies, capsicum and cabbage; accompanied with a variety of lentil based sambar; quenched with a tall cool glass of Lassi - Yogurt drink. രുചികരമായ ആഹാരം !!!

Great Food, Great Ambience, Good Service and Value for Money and of all a great range of choice for vegetarians makes Saravanaa Bhavan a Vegeterian Foodie's Paradise.

The Dosa's and Thali are the best and is a must try.
To be honest, I just love the variety of chutney's you get when you order even a plain dosa. The chutney is definately Saravanaa Bhavan's trump card.

The Thali is Filling and has many dishes and the rasam is OUT OF THE WORLD.

THIS PLACE IS A MUST TRY FOR ALL VEGETARIANS
Meha Prem Sankar
I love South Indian food and have friends who are not Indian and enjoy it as well. I was with with a female friend at this place at about 10pm during Ramadan. They said they had no rice for the Thali. It was over. We asked for masala tea they said that it was not part of the day's menu!
The waiter actually said that there is a specific menu for specific days and we can only eat that.

Last they were all in a rush to clear our plates even though we wanted to take our time, they were also standing very close to our tables and made us feel extremely u comfortable. Will never visit again
Sinitha Abraham
Just the second time here and ordered masala dosa. The food was delicious and so was the tea. This is our go to place to satisfy our masala dosa craving. The mixed vegetable porotta was also good.
Senthil Kumar Chan
The very worst quality of service ends with unpleasant experience. A reputed South Indian hotel branch not able maintain a quality of service in Abu Dhabi.
Gargi Chakrabarti
An authentic south Indian joint with no nonsense ambience! If you are looking for anything else...not the place to be. The dosas idlis uthapams are all delicious in every variety! Love the different chutneys they serve other than the regular coconut chutney. Not a big fan of the sambhar though. With the north Indian fare..it's sheer luck..plus can get a tad bit oily. Great for quick attentive service best if you are short on time and there for a quick breakfast / brunch or evening snacks! I wish they opened another outlet in Abu Dhabi though!
Saurabh Menon
Went today for a much needed South Indian dinner. Like always, their ghee roasts are amazing! Saravanaa Bhavan has never let down their customers on the quality of the food served. The vada's were unusually steaming hot. A very scrumptous meal, to be honest. The only downside is the long queues and the shortage of seats.
Manish Maryada
Talk about South Indian food in abu dhabi and sarvanaa bhavana will surely knock your mind. This famous chennai based restaurant serves the best south indian food out here in abu dhabi. The thali was absolutely a top notch meal and the taste, flavour and everything just reminds one of south india :D So visit this place and grab a bite :D
Mittals
Best place for south Indian food. they have excellent variety of dosas, vadas are greats to have. Coffee is excellent. Service is good, great value for money.

Had been there last Friday as a regular Friday brunch. For the start the place was busy as always. However this cannot be an excuse for a pathetic service.

Upon several requests to clean the table, our request was ignored for long time. Again after repeated calls to take our order, the person incharge was not any different. He spoke to us in Tamil/ Malayalam and when we Did not understand he just walked off giving us a feeling of racial discrimination.
Again no body came to take our order after almost a wait of 30-40 min.

I used to enjoy their food but this unpleasant experience has left me rather disgusted. Won't recommend this place on the basis of service.
Rohan Vaidya
I have been a regular here for a long time now.But on this Friday afternoon it was probably last time I will be there because we waited there for minimum 20 min for someone to note down our order. When we called the staff to take our order no one responded. Finally we left after atleast 25 min of waiting.Even at that time nobody noticed we left.We went upto cashier paid for water and left.Even that guy didn't try to ask us the problem. It was never known for service but food was always good.Sadly they set a new benchmark in bad service.
Mohammad Athar
Food is good.but service is too much worst i have seen in any restaurant....i had waited for almost 45 mins for somebody to take an order...
When u r tired of shopping and rats running in ur stomach.. its a plc 2 be.
It wasnot much crowded when v reached dr bt stil order took time..
We ordered unlimited thali , masala dosa , rava onion dosa and chai.. masala dosa was ok kinda.. nothing so special abt it. I liked its rava dosa .. it ws crisp nd well cooked... chai was ok. You can actually avoid it if u r a tea lover.
Thali.. aah.. crisp poris.. ample rice.. so many vegatables.. what i loved was the chach or butermilk along wid u and best part is u can order it again nd again.. i think v had arnd 8 to 10 buttermilk shoots..
Though i didnt try chole bhatura dr but looking at the size of bhatura.. i wuld go again just 2 try it..
If you want to try a place where the dining tables are very sticky, service is too poor, rates are costly, food is below average then you can worth try this Saravana Bhavan Madinat Zayed branch. I am a big fan of Saravana Bhavan and had many times in India & Dubai branches. But I tried here several times in this branch, every time I go back with some disappointment & dissatisfaction. I feel they can probably change the restaurant name to some other, without disturbing the real brand value.
Preethi Shivanand
So far... Good healthy breakfast ... actually surprised to find same taste as home .... keep it up ... opted for home delivery... Good packing of food.. Overall it's good.
Nilesh Udeshi
They have a huge language issue. Seems like the waiters don't know English or they are too dumb. Food is good. Even the guy who seemed like the manager behaved pretty rudely
Vishal Manek
Yesterday I been Sarvana Bhavan to have some south Indian food and i had Paneer Dosa really amazing and chutneys were so tasty.

Must go and eat south Indian food ..

South Indian food at its best ! Had a masala dosa and filter coffee .. Oooh the feeling of satisfaction :) u cannot go wrong with saravavaa Bhavan
Nice ambience , quick and efficient staff

Perfect place for the best vegetarian south indian food. Had dahi papdi chaat. One of the best chaats I ever had. Good service. Reasonable price. They serve the best dosas in town

Fresh food, fast service, excellent south indian filter coffee.
south indian food at its best.

can't go wrong!

PS-recommend the ghee roast masala dosa and onion utthapam.

Just tried this once. Like the Dosa and uttapam they serve. The chutney's alongside are delicious, and one would like to eat them more. They should also serve Chinese food during lunch hours
Shaan K
The restaurant looked too crowded especially because of the uninterested and extremely slow staffs and they were not able to manage properly. Most often the waiters were not anywhere in the vicinity. It took 15 minutes for the waiter to attend to my table and after 45mts when my order came they brought me the wrong item. I didn't expect to wait 45mts for a cold masala dosa. Though i ordered some more dishes i had to cancel them as i didn't want to wait another 45mts with my kids who became restless by the long wait. This spoiled my whole evening. I'll think twice before dining here again.
KUMAR
The only reason to visit was food since the service and attitude of the service staff anyways is arrogant and bad. However this time, we observed that the service staff is making DOSA's in kitchen. This is not only allowed by food control authorities but is unhygienic and unacceptable as well. On raising concern, the order takers says" he will inform management".

Probably that was the last day for me stepping in that restaurant.

This is the place to avoid..................

I have never dined at the Abu Dhabi outlet of Saravanaa Bhavan, but I often go here to have their special coffee (I get take-out). My entire family loves it, it's simply amazing! Definitely worth a try if you're looking for a post-meal drink.

The restaurant looks nice and clean. I can't comment on the service as I haven't experienced it. The menu is the same throughout all their locations.

Frankly speaking, the quality of the food is not as good as it used to be. We visited in the hotel in the evening few weeks before, ordered Parata and it was not hot and told this to the waiter and he said usually they made paratta in the afternoon and make it hot while delivering to the customer. Oops this time, I think they forgot to make it hot it seems. The onion rava dosa ordered was almost black, when we told about this to the waiter, he asked if he can replace with a new one so doesnt matter for them if the customer likes it or not, only when they complain they think about the quality. The waiters are not attentive most of the time and have wave my hands so many time to grab their attention. They really dont care about the customer. Since we are accustomed with south indian food, once in a month or some time we visit quarterly just for a change.

I go there every weekend fr breakfast and the food here is amazing. Love the masala dosa and pongal vada. D mini tiffin is also very good here. If you go there you must try the filter coffee. But make sure u tell them no sugar or less sugar. Their North Indian food is also of great quality. The prices are affordable. It is a must try food joint and has a wide range of options.

Been here 3 times to be exact, I love the Dosa, one of my Indian cuisine faves, they also serve Pani Puri, I love, too! Good place to dine with your family or friends.

The masala dosa is good but the service needs to be improved. ...................................................................................

Best place to have south indian food especially the dosas and chutneys are simply superb. Their taste remains the same irrespective of their outlet in any country which is their trademark.

All i can say about Sarvanaa Bhavan is the best south indian food you can get in Abu Dhabi.

Superb is the right word to describe.

Filter coffee typically south indian style which my favourite.
Raisten Fernandes
Excellent place for enjoying South Indian snacks and food. Extremely reasonably priced.

They are specially good with the dosas.
My favourite being the paneer dosa. Love the chutneys it was served with.

We usually follow this up with a tea.

They could do a little better with the quality of service though. Most of the servers have difficulty understanding English.

Food is tasty and healthy
Good ambience, service can be improved so that we can eat regularly. For those who are concerned about health this place is not suitable.

Ate there twice with an upset tummy both times. Very dirty seats as well. Disappointed as the one in India is pretty good

It's almost the 10 th time I have been to sarvana Bhavan.. As usual I took a friend from a different nationality this time from Ghana to let them taste the authentic South Indian food and filter coffee.. The spread of meals was good .. Rasam more like sambar which was a lil different.. And after this wanted to have filter coffee... Sad it came not as hot as expected.. N also not as strong and tasty like how it used to be.. Had to ask for extra decotion.. Overall was lil unhappy this time...

Finally got around to visiting this place, have been contemplating it for a while

The location - As others have mentioned, its a proper sit down outlet in the food court area, with a decent decor, although the furniture did seem dated. Do not expect a lot of privacy when dining here, the tables are very close together and despite being at different tables, you will get the feeling of rubbing elbows with the people sitting next to you

On to the food - To start, Sev Puri and Pani Puri were both below average; Wada Sambhar, Idli Sambhar and Gobi 65 were ordered, and all three were adequate. The Chole Puri comes with a very impressive and soft HUGE puri, but the accompanying chole left a lot to be desired.

The disappointment of the evening - Was the thali. While the taste of the accompanying curries was average, the food was lukewarm (except for the Sambhar which was hot). The rice I got was almost refrigerated. The thali is supposed to be unlimited, but getting replenishment for anything you run out of is a mammoth task, having to flag down one of the staff repeatedly, and ask them for a refill, which they will eventually bring to you in a small one off portion. Ultimately you just give up and make do with what you have on your plate because getting a refill is such a hassle.

The pro's - Two things that did stand out from our visit - the juices we ordered were excellent - mango, orange and pomegranate. Also on a whim, we ordered a plain rava dosa to share, and the dosa was outstanding, soft and perfectly seasoned batter.

The service - uninterested staff wandering around in no rush to get to the tables, with a significant wait to get the food to the tables. When they do interact with the customers, they are polite enough, and what I would expect from a place such as this.

Cost - frankly, pretty cheap. Total damage at the end was a lot smaller than I expected considering the number of items we ordered (including second orders of all the juices)

Decent food, haughty service sums up the place. Conveniently located in the Madinat Zayed Lulu food court, it has spacious seating, but you rarely get the chance to choose your seating unless you are visiting on a week-day for an early dinner. Standard fare of idlis and dosas are good. Lunch thali is also nice. If the staff stop acting so dictatorial and haughty, the experience would be a lot better.

Best South Indian breakfast! A must to try.

Lovely South Indian food. Best part is that their chutneys and sambar are all thick and flavourful unlike many other restaurants where it is so watery. I love the masala dosa and tomato onion uthappam. The mini sambar idlys are also a delightful snack. The prices are also so reasonable. Weekends are super crowded which is why I prefer coming here during the weekdays.

I was one of the first bloggers in the UAE to interview the co-founder of Zomato. And finally I have now got around to writing my first review here.

Saravanaa Bhavan can be crazy busy on weekends so we visited on a weekday and early for dinner.

You see the live kitchen through a glass wall so we sat where we could get a good view.

I asked the server what he would recommend and he pointed to the most expensive item in the menu - the Saravana Special Thali.

The waiter could hardly explain in English what the contents were so we took the plunge anyway. It turned out to be quite enough for my better half (see photo). The sabzi and the pooris were delicious.

For our little girl who is 4+ we ordered Idli as per her request and she liked it. Idlis (steamed rice cakes) were soft and delicious. She got to the food before I could take a photo.

I asked for a dosa that has some spice and got 'Kara Dosa' which had was also soft and full of spicy mashed potato filling - triangular in shape.

We also ordered Onion Uttapam which was ample too, and had I loads of onion chunks sprinkled over it. Enough to satiate one person.

The dosa, idli and uttapam came with their own set of chutneys - which were superb and added a zing to the taste.

To top it all up, I ordered Madras Filter Coffee hoping to show my wife how it is served in a glass upside down - but it arrived in a glass inside another bowl, not upside down. And dripping too. Not classy at all. The taste of the coffee was 'wokay'.

Now, the service. Many issues. The waiter we got had a very hard time understanding us in English and in answering our questions. Another one just kept standing or hovering right next to or table which makes a family dinner very uncomfortable.

While leaving, I asked at the cash counter if they had a Facebook page and the cashier kept insisting I should tell him what the problem is. There was no problem - I just wanted to check them out online. But it seems he is only used to customers asking for these things if they want to complain.

We had their special thali loaded with stuff, idli, dosa, uttapam, coffee and a bottle of water and it all cost just around 50 dirhams.

If one ignores the weak service, and the less than squeaky clean cutlery and crockery, the food is good value for money.

The really good stuff was the sabzi in the thaali, and the chutneys!

For a peaceful experience, try to go on a weekend.

So there... I have just completed my first review at Zomato and look forward to your feedback and comments.

Great place for a quick South Indian Thali meal. excellent food and amazing value for money.

Most of the stuff in the menu is good but the Thali is the star.

Gets packed and extremely noisy on weekends. good wait staff and friendly service. @⚽

With no clue on what to do for dinner, i was taking a walk. Walked through the Madinat Zayed as there was a food court there. Saw Saravanaa & wanted to check it out - the quintessential south Indian chain. I should say this - it is one of the best chains for south indian food with standardization levels exceedingly good across locations.

I was there on a week day and fairly early in the evening. The place was empty and the service was very good. Having seen a horror review about the service, it was a pleasant surprise that the service was good and in line with the usual Saravanaa standards across other locations (have been to at least 4 outlets in chennai plus in qatar, kuwait, dubai and bahrain).

The quality of food was good and it was great to have attentive service. My personal favourite is Masala Milk which I thought was a bit lower in standard compared to other locations. The smaller pieces make it difficult and led to a coughing fit as some pieces got stuck in the throat.

Any day, one of the best joints for quick, clean, tasty and standardized south indian fare. They also have buffets for breakfast and lunch on week days which is a big plus.

The ambience of this particular outlet was very good. More outlets should be of this standard for saravanaa.

Best place for 'veg' South Indian, if you can manage the indifferent staff and practically zero service.

Make sure your plates are clean and so are your glasses. Better hustle the Chief of Staff, else you won't be able to place your order in time.

And they adhere to their timings for thalis and other food items like the army.

But it's worth it? Why? Coz the softest Dosas i've ever had (and I've eaten in a lot of South Indian joints) are here. I've even had food at the SB in Chennai and the one in Delhi, but the food here is much much better.

Do visit for the Dosas and Super soft idli. The Filter coffee is good, but if only they gave an option of serving it without sugar.

I had been here number times in year 2012-13.
I had dosa,sambar-vada,idly.The food is ok not great for south indian flavour.
The ambience is good.

I used to go there literally everyday since my friend is a vegetarian.. And moreover I office is nearby too... Restaurant is on the top floor of madinet zayed shopping center located differently from the food corners... Food is good ., typical Tamil food .. Good customer service and really fast food .. We didn't had to wait for long to get hot thali meal .. Price is ok too . I truly recommend if you are looking for some Indian vegetarian food.
Sriram
Though located in a good place, the staff taking orders are very lethargic and lacking in enthusiasm. They walk towards like slower than a tortoise and it doesn't reflect that we are welcomed to their restaurant.
Bibi Prasad
you order Dhasa it is OK. But if you ask for some other authentic vegetarian dishes you are a looser. More over if you ask to some thing after the first order you get half cooked vegetables and warmed dough. Very bad experience.

I recently went to Saravana Bhavan for the first time on a Friday for breakfast with my family. Recently, I have developed an immense liking for Idlis and Dosas. I am not extremely familiar with other varieties of south Indian food so I usually limit myself to only the numerous kinds of dosas. I found Saravana Bhavan quite neat and clean. I ordered my usual - masala dosa. My parents ordered upma, pongal and idli. Generally I don't like upma but that day I quite enjoyed it. Overall their food was really yummy. What I loved the most was their chutneys, especially the green one. I have never tasted a green chutney that was so good. It was very different from all the other kinds of chutney I have had. One thing that I really didn't like was the fact that the food was not hot when it came to the table. Dosas and Idlis are nicer when they are hot and fresh. Their service and staff is very good but sometimes it makes you feel that the server is standing and watching you eat. He doesn't move away from his assigned location. That is a good thing when you need something but get's quite irritating when you need a little privacy. But apart from this, I really enjoyed the south indian food and I am definitely going to go here again.

This is by far the best veggie/vegan restaurant in the capital. If I were to dine or order, I was never disappointed. The diversity on the menu has always been confusing but it's maybe because I'm not very familiar with the cuisine.
Sushma Suryanarayan
They do a good job with what they are good at. Sooper South Indian food. However if u order North Indian food here, it's your mistake :) wud frequent this place whenever the taste buds crave for some idli vada dosa and sambar.

Overall awesome food. if ur craving for your filter coffee fix..this is the place to head to.. or order home!!

I used to love this place. The location is great. It is neat. The food is very tasty. All these even though the price was at the higher end when comparing other Veg restaurants. But, recently they increased their prices by around 25% which I think is not worth. Hence the average rating. The menu posted here has to be updated.
