I feel obligated coming here to zomato and reviewing Afiya because they gave me and my mom such an amazing and pleasant weekend evening !
I got them through Groupon and decided to give them a go for the Friday BBQ night, I made a call early morning to make a reservation and the Indian gentleman was delightful and polite, that was a good start !... We arrived around 7 and were welcomed by the young lady at the reception in the outside seating area, she was delightful too and extremely helpful, she showed us to our table and was so pleasant and polite.
We headed to the buffet and I wasn't really expecting many of the things they had that night and it was no short of Amazing !... They had a Leg of Lamb, Beef Steak on the carving station, Assorted BBQ (Beef Kofta, Shish Tavook, Beef) and they all tasted absolutely great and better than many other places especially the steaks and the Kofta ! Apparently due to the fact is was being cooked Live on top of charcoal so that must be a great factor !...
Moving towards the end of the bar Beef and Roasted Chicken was always there but I didn't try neither but the chicken looked great for that matter.
Some Arabic Biryani or masnaf was there too with beef and looked and tasted amazing for my mom !...
A fresh Lasagna but that was mostly it for their Non-Beef Main dishes. Moving forward a huge bar with Potato Wedges, Onion Rings and 5 other kinds...
I must admit there was no Pastries of Pizza as announced on groupon but for the price we got and the amazing outdoors atmosphere WE CANT COMPLAIN !...
There were Hotdogs, Freshly prepared, and Beef Patties and a few sea food options including Oysters,
The salad bar was decent but it didn't hold my interest with Coleslaw, Potato, Green Salad (No taboleh for that instance), Hummus (which tasted amazing) and other options too...
The Waiters were extremely intuitive, the place was better and nicer than I had in mind, the seating area was clean just not the high moisture/humidity as we were next the the beach, but the weather was amazing and even while were jackets you dont feel hot, AMOF it felt kind of cold, and thumbs up for the amazing management keeping ALL grills hot and on charcoal most of the time so you can't complain food was cold (except the cool salad :))
There was one final stand with hot Asian food, noodles, crabs, more rice options etc...
Finally, the desserts were WOW, just WOW (as demonstrated in my attached screenshot) A very wide selection of desserts, cakes, and even Ice Cream !! (Are you kidding me ?!) for the amount we paid that felt too much !!..
Some reviews tried to emphasize on how bad the place will be and it was a total mess due to people ! And TBH I wasn't totally dismissing that possibility due to the Bargain Groupon deal we got, also I had that experience in the past and it was terrible, but I was really happy and thrilled this was NOT the case in Afya, probably due to the fact the places was not Over crowded and jammed with tables, the intuitive staff and overall management decision, make no mistake Afya is a really large restaurant and kitchen and seemed like the Main restaurant operating in Traders Hotel, so its certainly not a bad experience, we just can't understand what a great deal it was on Groupon we got !...
I should be fair though, they need to have SOMEONE scooping icecream to the guests as the icecream was self-served and was kind off awkward scooping on your own, but surprisingly that was well maintained by the guests which kept me wondering lol !...
Also there were No labels next to the food or the desserts which kept me thinking what's what the entire time and it would be great to have labels next to the food, we weren't served the complementary large water (I believe) so I had to ask for that, it was brought to our table in no time.
Overall we were extremely happy and satisfied that evening and thank god the place wasn't crowded as feared and we will DEFINITELY give them a visit at least twice with larger party the next time and I do recommend them for anyone into these things !...
Thanks for such an amazing evening, awesome food, and great memory.
Quite a nice seafood night. Not a very big spread but definitely reasonable for the price. The staff is patient and treat you so well. Will highly recommend this place
The staff is friendly; the food is good but the salad bar needs more options;
Pricing is fair but the menu options are limited
The speed of service is good when the resturant is not crowded
Best breakfast buffet ever! There's a wide selection of breads, pastries, and freshly sliced fruits and juices. Staffs are very approachable and attentive. Would definitely come back and try their lunch and dinner meals.
Thursday shack night was away from my best expectations.
The outdoor seats ,live grill stations, the arrangements, Organisation was excellent 👌👌👌👌.
It was really sea food night, we enjoyed the couple of hours we had there.
Shesha was amazing on full stomach 😂😂.
I'm definitely not so keen at all day dining restaurants simply because they cater to the masses with their buffets. There are a few exceptional restaurants which also serve great ala carte options such as this urban chic restaurant Afya in tradershotelad .
Wasn’t expecting much but each of the dishes that I ordered tasted so delicious. The kingprawns and lambracks were flawless with the finest ingredients. What caught my attention was then braised hamour fish which came in a tabouleh and tomato broth over a bed of couscous. Yum indeed.
As posh as it gets! This signature burger made from 100% pure wagyu beef promises good levels of juiciness in every bite. The charcoal bun really adds up to making it so instagram worthy. You’ve to do a little bit of squeezing to make it into your mouth though 😂 .
The burger also boasts beef bacon with peri peri mayo giving it the right amount of spicy!
Traders Hotel has a whole new outdoor BBQ concept available every Friday at the Afya Restaurant. Guests indulge in an expansive dinner buffet with live kitchens, dessert stations and unwind by the beach with drinks and games. Bring the whole family! Read on further for my experience at their Friday Smoking Vibes BBQ.
I and friends had a stayover at this place called traders hotel where this restaurant is located.
One of the best places to have breakfast. They have a live counter for the kind of omlette you would like to cook. They have both options to eat outside in front of brach or indoors. A wide array of selections for food was available.
Had breakfast buffet during my stay at the hotel and found food, service, and overall quality up to the mark. Creek views from the restaurant are also awesome. Restaurant manager ensured constant floor walking & checkin at almost all tables.
During ramadan this is one of the best place to have iftar.
They are giving 50% discount. Food is superb. I could not eat everything. 🤣
The staff is very polite and super friendly.
Surely will recommend!
I have made my review on the basis of my experience during breakfast, which capped off an ideal stay at your hotel for my birthday.
The breakfast selection was substantial, tasted really good, and was made even more commendable by the very friendly and accommodating service - so kudos to everyone! I will definitely be back someday to try the barbeque buffet night , and partake of the wonderful hospitality in your hotel once again.
This place had good food and The staff were very nice. Although the atmosphere inside is not that great and could have been better however the atmosphere outside was a lot better
Really enjoyed their Mamma Mia Italian themed night! From their soup and bread selection to their desserts, everything was quite good! They even have a chocolate fountain which always gets me super excited! I was really glad as they had quite a few veg options as well! They even have a live pasta station, however I was a little dissapointed with the pasta prepared. The veg lasagna however made up for that. All in all, it was a good and satisfying buffet. I recommend sitting outside for a great view.
We love this venue at Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi. As the weather has started setting off this place is set to become the most popular place to enjoy Fridays in the capital with its lavish new beachside BBQ. Yes! There are some major better changes from last year we have experienced. First impression of this property is breath-taking, I admire the stunning lobby of Traders Hotel upon each visit. It is one of our favourite destination to enjoy the weekend staycations, and visiting their F&B outlets mainly Afya is always a pleasure.
Lovely place in the evening. Had to give it five ratings. Fantastic ambience. Hukka - drinks - snacks is awesome. Water - sand facing . Just unbelievable.
One of the better shisha cafes in town. Usually people bother you with the quality, but this one's not that bad at all. We had a lovely nook to ourselves, the staff was polite and respectful, and we had some really good food!
Loved the outdoor area! The service is amazing and the staff is very friendly. I've tried the open buffet breakfast, it's good but nothing special. Needs work on the cold cuts and cheese section.
The quality F&B service gets that extra 0.5
The nicely themed restaurant in the GF is a visual treat for your eyes.
The breakfast buffet starts with a series of cheese and arabic mezze with lots of arabic and std breads.
The juice station(one of the highlights) consisted for 5 fresh juices and 2 freshly mixed fruit blenders rich with anti oxidents.
The main station had beef and chicken sausages(both ok), turkey bacon(awesome), eggs (different forms and a live cooking station - all standard).
There was poori and some curry plus some soups, porridge etc...etc.. which i didn't even bother to try.
After the hectic attack on the main course i tried some wheat bran and chilled milk with honey and somr dried fruit topping(awesome combination and tasted good).
There were cut fruits, cakes, fruit yogurts.. again which i neva bothered to try and my stomach was not just full but i couldn't even get up and walk.
But irrespective of all this it was our waitress Arlene who has earned this extra 0.5 rating. She was right there from the moment we entered the restaurant, escorting us to our table and afterwards offering all the F&B services we required without any haste.
The best thing about this place is the location, especially in the good weather, and when you can sit right by the beach side.
The food is labelled as mostly Moroccan (as is most staff). But frankly, I always feel it is more international cuisine than Arabic or Moroccan. And definitely not of highest quality.
It is an ok place to hang out, but don't go there for a proper meal, as it is not worth it. Excellent shisha and drinks though.
I only go to this restaurant for one item: "The Traders Burger".
It's basic, but full of flavor and consistently good.
Food is great specially if you will use Entertainer Coupon(one complimentary main course every one main course)... :)
Good food and kindness staff
Since Chris already reviews the Friday night BBQ theme, I will limit my review to the "regular" nights à la carte
I will start by admitting that child-friendly places automatically get a higher rating from me, because unless its a romantic dinner out with the wife where we want to be alone, my kids generally tag along with us when we go out for dinner; its a firmly established "family time". Although almost all restaurants are child-tolerant, my definition of child-friendly is where establishments actually make an effort to target a good time even for the younger ones while the adults can relax with good food in a good setting. Afya is one of those establishments.
The interiors of the restaurant itself is good, but the jewel of this place is the beach-side seating alfresco area. When the weather permits, watching the sun go down and then the lights come on the Ritz that is just across the canal, while a cool breeze drifts in, with the adults enjoying the food and drinks and the younger ones are being entertained by child-friendly activities, creates an atmosphere of pure relaxation where the stress of the week just melts away.
The service is attentive, with friendly staff looking to please, and the wait for orders to be bought to the table is reasonable even on busy nights. The Tandoori chicken pizza is rather unique at this eatery, and if you venture there, I recommend you give it a try. Other than the pizza, the food options are typical and ranges from acceptable to good, and I have never disliked anything I have tried here.
Afya is one of my regular hangouts, and also one of my family's favourites.
The review will be covering the Trader's Beach BBQ Night held seasonally on Friday evenings.
For those looking for a fun night out with friends, particularly those with children, this is a great evening filled with food and fun. This beach BBQ is located along Grand Canal overlooking the new Ritz Carlton and the party starts at 5pm with food served at 6pm.
Included:
BBQ Buffet including seafoods and meats - 150 AED per person
Drinks - Soda (10 AED), Water (10 AED), Alcohol (25-40 AED)
Sheesha
Children's Buffet - free under 6 years old
Music
Children's movie area
Children's entertainment
Clown and balloon animals
If you are looking for a night out with your children then this is a must do event. The atmosphere and set up are fantastic for socializing with friends while your children participate in events, play at the playground or lounge for a movie. The food is also quite good for a buffet with fresh grilled prawns, calamari, whole fish, chicken tikka, beef, hamburgers, hotdogs and a plethora of other buffet selections. Granted, the food will not blow you away, but it will satisfy you BBQ needs and helps add to the fantastic ambiance and location. The deserts left something to be desired as did the small selection at the children's buffet (chicken nuggets and french fries only), but this is still a must visit for those in Abu Dhabi. I will be returning soon to bring out of town guests so they can enjoy the great weather and a BBQ all while enjoying the fantastic location and atmosphere.
