This is my go to bar/restaurant every Thursday for after work drinks. The drinks And especially food just never disappoints! Over the years I have tried almost everything on the menu and love everything! But my absolute fav would be the Mac and cheese and the fish and chips. Too good to be true!
Headed here to try the roast that everyone's been raving about, but as luck may have it, its available only on the weekends (our mistake for not checking this ahead). We did however have the fisherman's pie, poutine, fish n chips and filly cheese steak. Everything was 'magnifique'. Tip: Monday is quiz night. We won a round of beers for topping the first round.
We wanted to have a traditional roast and it was yummy! Generous quantity with all the traditional sides and a delicious Yorkshire pudding! The meat could have been a bit more flavourful though, but all in all it was a satisfying meal.
A variety of draft beers. Nice place to watch matches on TV.
Chicken wing went very well with draft beers. All the sports lover will gather around here.
The staffs are very welcoming, it is the restaurant to go after a lengthy workout at Zayed sports city! The food there is amazing love the lamb chops that I had, cooked perfectly! Love the pool table for the families and friends! It is very tidy and clean!
I went there to watch the World Cup game and I have nothing to complain about!
They have many TVs and two big wall screens. I ordered salmon and draft and everything was good. My friend ordered fish and chips (I just think the tartar sauce is scarce. They could be more generous as the fish is so big). And the best about it, it’s non smoking on the tables indoors, so you don’t need to be smelling that awful smoke like in the other bars!!
Fast delivery, tasty food.
The food is actually pretty good and the drinks are good too. The service wasn't bad when we went and we didn't have to wait long at all for any of our dishes. Price is good too. The ambiance is super sports pub like, but my kids came and still enjoyed it. Its a good size restaurant too. Sometimes they run out of certain kinds of alcohol which kind of irks me, but its not that big of a deal. The events they have too, especially the kid friendly ones are super nice and there i a lot to do.
If you are planning on watching sporting events at Zayed Sports City and are looking for a good meal and drink to get ready for the event then you should definitely go to Sportsman's Arms. Atmosphere was good, with a live band playing some great music. The place was busy without being too crowded. Had the Reuben poutine which was OK, not bad but nothing too special. Service was friendly and quick.
Love the drinks. Sweet staff. Please keep this vibe go on and on. I ordered a short rib the last time I came, it wasn't enough for me. Thought of it could be more meatier next time I hope. Happy being on this venue, next time with a date😊😊😊

The Sportsman's Arms is the embodiment of what our beautiful city needs more of - good, honest home style cooking served unpretentiously in an environment designed for its target market. Don't get me wrong, fantastic food is to be had in the multitude of five-star hotels around the city, but sometimes you need less of the style and more of the substance.
Substance is what makes this place. It's menu has options and although there are a few hit and miss items, you generally get what you pay for. Food arrives quickly from the kitchen with attentive waiting staff who are knowledgable about their menu.
Of particular note are the pulled beef croquettes, a good starter let down slightly by an unimaginative aioli sauce, but nevertheless cooked well with a crispy fried breadcrumb exterior encapsulating succulent beef packed with flavour.
On the main course front, the Shepherds Pie packs flavour in every mouthful. Initially it looks like it may be a little small, but by the end you will be struggling to fit in desert. A rich beef sauce with lovely creamy mash potatoes are expected but particular attention should go to the delightfully seasoned carrots which with their slight sweetness add a welcome texture to the dish.
The New York Strip is a steak. It is not the best steak you will have in Abu Dhabi, but certainly not the worst. The hand cut chips are thick, fluffy and a pleasure to eat, however this is one of the instances where a little more refinement is needed, particularly the need to serve such a dish on a plate rather than a board.
So why 3.5? If I was reviewing The Sportsman's Arms in the context of Abu Dhabi restaurants only I would say that it is one of the best in its class. The class however is small, with few other venues giving a social gastropub experience. Therefore I can only really compare it against the fantastic gastropub in Dubai "The Scene" at Marina Mall Pier 7. It is an altogether more enjoyable experience food and service wise and is worth a special trip, especially if you need a dose of the British pub classics.
A word of warning - as the title suggests, the Sportsman's Arms is about sport. There are screens everywhere, and the atmosphere is fantastic especially during rugby matches. If you are looking for a quiet night out, this might not be for you.
We tasted the traditional roasts at The Sportsman’s Arms recently. They are available from 12pm-11pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Yes, they are now even offering the same on Friday due to customer demand. The extra day means more beef, lamb and turkey options will now be available at this family-friendly venue. Due to huge popularity we decided to give it a try to this offering as we really enjoyed our previous venture of Jacks Terrace Opening party.

When a friend of mine invited me to have a dinner here, the first thing I thought of is if I can bring my kids along. Since it's a gastropub, I was surprised to know that kids are most welcome. And that there's even a play area for them to have fun. Customers have options if they want al fresco dining and enjoy the relaxing views around Zayed Sports City, or dine inside, and get some drinks while watching live sports on the huge screens.
We were excited to try the food, so we opted to have the tasty All Day Roast (which is quite a big serving), Chocolate Brownie, and Apple & Rhubarb Crumble to complete our meals.
Overall, my friends, my kids and I enjoyed our once in a while bonding time in The Sportsman's Arms over good food, and relaxing ambiance.
The Sportsman’s Arms is Abu Dhabi’s first gastropub and a welcome addition to the cities thriving dining scene. A versatile venue that caters for breakfast. lunch, dinner, live sporting events and now brunch. Taking inspiration from the American/Irish pubs of Boston and transforming the concept into a casual dining experience for the entire family.
We visited on Saturday afternoon. Their current happy hour starts at Midday to closing so definitely worth making your way there just for the 20dhs pints of icy cold Heineken! (This promotion is on over the course of the Olympic Games). Service is top notch, friendly wait staff and is a rare Abu Dhabi pub that has big windows to bring in loads of natural sunlight. Kids are more than welcome. Kids menu is a little on the pricey side (compared to other places) but the meals for them are a good decent size, especially for pre teens! I ordered the fish and chips served with mushy peas. I requested the 'skin on fries' as my chips as the fish is served with hand cut chips which are (delicious) but VERY chunky! My husband had the weekend roast which he said he very much enjoyed and our friend ordered a BBQ chicken pizza which he said he'd have again. We will be back...

This place reminds me of a bar in the states. Good atmosphere. Decent food. Just a good basic sports bar. It's a little weird though; kind of two restaurants in one. There is a different menu for the outdoor and indoor area.
Outside, the chicken wings and sweet potato fries are awesome! Try the sweet potato fries with a bit of honey on the side. The fried calamari is well seasoned and some of the best I've had in this country. The mac n cheese is also pretty decent considering it's not homemade. I had the burger outside and I didn't love it. The BBQ sauce was super sweet . The short ribs outside also had the same sweet sauce.
Inside, the chili had nice flavor but doesn't resemble chili at all. It's more like a meat bolognese. The burger inside was very good although a bit overcooked for the medium I requested. The salmon and BBQ chicken pizza were also quite good. They also have pretty good desserts so give them a try.
Overall, the food is good quality, especially for a sports bar. The atmosphere is nice. I love that it's not filled with smoke like every other bar in the city! Service could definitely use some work. You might have to wave your hands in the air for a few minutes but once you get a server's attention, they are nice and helpful. Finally, when all else fails they have a great happy hour with a decent selection of beer, wine and cider for 20dhs and select 2 for 1 cocktails from 4-7pm.
Lovely ambience. Happy hour from 20.00 till 23.00. Servers are amazing, attentive and charming! The best chocolate brownie I've tasted so long in Abu Dhabi, served with a pistachio ice cream.
We visited The Sportsman's Arms for the England v Wales Euro 2016 match. Now, considering it was at 5pm during Ramadan, there was still such a great atmosphere throughout the place. Perfect for sports fans with so many screens.
We both tried the steak and hand cut chips - which was cooked perfectly to our tastes (both different of course). We will definitely be back to try more, and looking forward to the cooler months where we can enjoy the terrace!
Just re-opened and I can't really complain to be honest. We went down for the roast, having read nothing but good things. No starter as we wanted to save room. One beef and one turkey. The food was served quickly, and was nice and hot. The meats were incredibly tender and plentiful. The Yorkshire pudding was as dense as it should be, and the rest of the sides were ideal roast companions (cauliflower, roast potatoes, green beans, mashed root veg...). The gravy was also top notch.
Service was excellent and very attentive. If I'm being fussy, there was a slightly funny aftertaste with the drink I ordered (pipes just back in use?) but overall very happy. Great discount available on this occasion too. With not much competition in immediate vicinity they should do well here.
This afternoon I had a late lunch here and I had a good experience. I ordered the salmon fillet and it tasted amazing, it was filled with great flavours from the tomato and onion on the bed of potatoes. The place was filled with a good atmosphere and staff very friendly.

The Sportsman's Arms is essentially a sports bar cum restaurant but surprisingly, their food is quite good and goes beyond the usual nachos and burgers one would expect.
It's our second visit in this month and we can't wait for the next one. The food selection is varied and so far, all that we tried is satisfyingly great. Nothing pretentious but definitely straight up delicious.
Another winner here, is the sweet potato fries !!! Crunchy and really complements whatever grill or burger you order. A great side order for sure.
Their English roast is spot on. Yorkshire pudding is fluffy and not too spongy ... Goes so well with the gravy. The lamb roast we ordered is not too dry or raw and is cooked just right. The yummy trimmings (sweet potatoes mash, French beans and cauliflower) really completes the dish. I can seriously do with a second helping of the mash and cauliflower.
Nice seating both inside and outside when the weather is great. Abit short staffed when we were there for the afternoon but otherwise, great meals we had both times.
Already looking forward to our next visit !!
Found a flyer in one of Abu Dhabi Week's magazine and decided to invite some friends out.
It was a nice breezy weather so we decided to sit overlooking the tennis court/beside the grill rather inside where it was warm.
The staff were friendly but being a Thursday evening, they were busy.
We ordered the slow and low pulled chicken bap, jack's burger, and new england seafood bake. The chicken bap came with pickles and their homemade slaw. The combo was delish. As for jack's burger, it was good too, especially with the sweet potato fries! It was addicting and to be honest, I wanted to order an extra of those fries.
Maybe would come back and try the platter next time which has more choices.
The Sportsman's Arms have recently launched their Sunday Roast and Mr. D and I were invited to try it out. Sunday Roast is basically a traditional British meal where family and friends gather around the table and enjoy a scrumptious roast. Well, in the UK its served on a Sunday, which is a weekend ... hence the name Sunday Roast/Weekend Roast. In the UAE however, Sunday is not a weekend. But ... do not worry, because at The Sportsman's Arms they serve their Traditional Weekend Roast not only on a Sunday but on Saturday as well. You can either choose to end your week with a bang or begin it in style.
Well the outlet was such a wonderful surprise for us! Just recently opened in Abu Dhabi, this place has definitely a great potential.
The welcoming experience by Tebo was super personal to the moment when we got seated on our table.
Staff are friendly, they know exactly what they have on their menu.
He kept, passing by in a friendly way while we were waiting for our order.
Food hits nicely the three criteria of quality, quantity and price.

Great place after the game or with the family on the weekend. Lot's of room, delicious food with BBQ and the best part no smoking inside! Wow what a difference it makes to not be choking or tearing with smoke while you eat. Highly recommend this place.
Really liked the place. As i work nearby, this has become a place where i frequent a lot. Staff are super friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and accommodate your request.
Dishes I tried so far:
Breakfast: try their croissant / pain au raisin. These are freshly baked when you order them so when it reaches your table, it is still warm.. and so buttery and flaky.. just YUMMY!!! The pain au chocolat - not enough chocolate in my opinion. So would stick to the croissant and pain au raisin.
Lunch:
- Burger was good and fries - delightful!
- Tried the risotto as well - huge portion and though didn't popped but wasn't bad.
Overall - just loved this place for its overall atmosphere, service and food

Great pub in Zayed Sports City with both indoor and outdoor seating. Nice big screen for watching sport. General drinks and pub bites. Great atmosphere and friendly service.
Great place, very new sports bar the setup is good large screen for live games and events, great choices of drinks with a traditional pub menu, the food quality is superb i highly recommend the pizza and chilli bowl, wings and calimari are great also but small in portions, also thumbs up for the nonsmoking policy indoors, the outdoors area is also great with the tenses cort view.
Great place, always nice and quiet to grab a drink and meal and watch the sports events on TV. The manager Teevo is very nice to chat to. Wants to hear what he can do to make your experience better. It's a little tucked away place but once word is out, it will be a great hangout.

This restaurant is fine, but nothing knocked our socks off. The cocktails seemed really pricy compared to other restaurants. When we got our bill, we noticed the price of the beer had been reduced, but we hadn't actually been told it was happy hour. We probably would have had one or two more drinks if we had known. I actually had been hoping for a non-alcoholic frozen drink, but I didn't see any available so I had no beverage at all. Our daughter (14) had a lot of trouble finding something to eat because the menu has so few options, so I'd suggest anyone with picky eaters in the family check the menu before you go. On the way out my husband noticed there had been sandwiches available on a different menu we didn't know about. (He said he saw something written about a deli menu during lunch) The food we had was fine, but if you don't like fish and chips, pizza, shepherds pie, or risotto, you may have some trouble with the menu. If they expand the menu, we would probably come back, but probably not otherwise.

A few days ago we drove to Abu Dhabi to experience the Pre Season Menu of the newly opened pub and restaurant called The Sportsman's Arm located at Zayed Sports City. If you're in Abu Dhabi and looking for a place that serves some of the best quality pub food around, then this is definitely the place to be. With a laid back and calm vibe, The Sportsman’s Arms protrudes the classic sports-bar energy that you relax and enjoy after a hectic day or week. The food of course was extremely comforting and fuss free, satisfying all our taste buds.
For the Pre - Season Menu launch, we were lucky enough to sample some of Sportsman Arm's best dishes. We began with Snack and Small Plates, among which we had;
- Heritage and Beetroot Salad with Goats Cheese and Aged Balsamic Vinegar. The classic combination of beetroot and goats cheese is always a win. The vinegar added a good punch and the beetroot was perfectly al dente. We definitely recommend this salad if you're looking for something that's not too heavy.
- Wings on Fire with Ranch Dressing. You can really never go wrong with wings, especially wings that are packed with extra heat that make you salivate. The ranch is a perfect accompaniment if you want to tone down the heat of the wings, maintaining its flavor.
- Beef Tartare with Capers, Worcestershire, Fresh Herbs and Dijon. Best Tartare we've had! The quality of beef used was premium and the season was done perfectly. We loved how the Dijon mustard didn't overpower the dish but added a good amount of heat.
- Slow and Low Beef Chili with Sour Cream. We loved the warmth of this dish. Although the flavors didn't stand out, it was delicious nevertheless.
With our appetizers done, we were more than ready for round two - pizza! Among the pizzas we got to sample;
- Buffalo Mozzarella and San Marzano Tomatoes.
- Grilled Barbecue Chicken and Caramelized Onions.
- King Prawns, Squids, Mussels and Cherry Tomatoes.
Our favorite definitely had to be the seafood pizza solely because we know how difficult it is to cook seafood perfectly in a wood-fire oven when making pizza and Sportsman’s Arms had done it faultlessly, with the seafood being juicy and not at all overcooked.
The best part however of our entire tasting had to be the mains. We got to sample some of the best pub food we've had in a very long time. Probably not the healthiest food we've devoured, but then again it’s not like we strive for healthy eating.
The mains we had included;
- USDA Black Angus Burger in a Brioche Bun with chips. What we loved about this burger was you can have it cooked to your preference. Since we like ours medium rare, that's what we went for. It was seasoned well and juicy and the bun was soft and sweet. Probably not the best burger we've had but it’s definitely a favorite.
- Sheppard’s Pie with Slow Cooked Minced Lamb and Cheesy Mash. This dish was comfort food at its best. The lamb chili had the perfect flavor of heat, sweetness and spice and mixed up into one perfect dish. This pie will definitely be a hit during the winter season when all you're looking for is warmth and deliciousness.
- New York Strip with Grilled Tomatoes, Mushroom and Hand Cut Chips. Here again, Sportsman's Arm did not cheap out when selecting the quality of meat. The steak was melt in your mouth delicious and the chips were perfectly crisp. The portion was enormous too, making it a typical dude food dish.
- Atlantic Cod with Chips, Mushy Peas and Tartare sauce. We loved how Sportsman’s Arms stayed true to the humble fish and chips dish, by only focusing on the quality and cooking technique of the fish. The fish was flaky and tender and had that decent outer crunch to it. The peas were sweet and soft and complemented the fish very well. Definitely a winner dish!
To wrap up our meal, for dessert we tried the sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. The pudding was dense but not too rich or heavy. And the toffee sauce moistened the pudding further, making us lick our plates clean!

The Sportsmans Arms is a great place to dine in, though the prices are a quite high. All two menu options that I chose were extremely tasty and worth it.
I chose the Shepherds pie as well as the barbecue pizza for lunch. The pie was 70 dirhams for a portion the size of a medium bowl however it was very tasty. The cheese toppings and mashed potatoes were piping hot, the beef was tasty and well cooked too.
The barbecue pizza had quite generously portions and cost 80 dirhams. The pizza itself was good too. The chicken was a bit dry, but the sauce, cheese and crust were great.
So overall, it was a great experience, but the cost is slightly too costly and the service was slow (because it was a full house). The taste itself and presentation was great, and I look forward to going there again.

LETS TAKE A TRIP TO ABU DHABI
Just 55 minutes from my front door in Dubai Marina, The Sportsman’s Arms - a new American Irish gastropub has recently opened in @zayedsportscity. Located on the first floor of the International Tennis Stadium this is a perfect escape from #planet_dubai for a fuss-free (and exceptional) meal.
The Sportsman’s Arms is open from breakfast to late night sherbets 🍻 and offers a relaxing, easy vibe. I'm especially looking forward to their family friendly Friday brunch. Expect typical pub fare on the menu such as honey treacle chicken wings, USDA black Angus burgers, Atlantic cod and chips and possibly the best pizzas I've had in the UAE.
Large screen televisions and projector screens can be found in the bar and lounge areas so check if your favourite team will be aired before you go.

Nice Pub, with clean classy atmosphere. Large screens for watching sports and a nice terrace for overlooking the tennis stadium. Friendly people and good service. There is a large drink menu from whiskey to wine, and they are the only seller (so far) of Sam Adams beer here in the Abu Dhabi! The food is nice simple pub food from pizza to chicken wings, and even steak and fish and chips. A nice place for friends and families. Impressive! All wooden look, TV screens with whatever sports you like, great bar food and friendly crew makes Sportman's Arm a great place to just chill with your friends. They have a great alcoholic beverage selection. I haven't tried any from that menu. Yet!
Chef Ivan's cooking is on the money! Chicken wings are nice and spicy. The goat cheese and beetroot salad is soooooo good.

Really great place! The quality of food is top! They have great deals too! The staff is really friendly and professional! The crowd is really fun and in my opinion it’s the place place to do fun bdays or watch sport matches with ur friends !
