(التعليق الأصلي) Very unique cafe/bakery. You could tell it’s well taken care of. My very first order was a pecan tart and it was honestly perfect. Recently went back got another tart and what looked like “lazy cake” and it was superb :) The only downside is the location; no parkings right outside.

إجمالي 10/10 💯 (التعليق الأصلي) Was a great experience... i personally never in my life thought of trying the portuguese cuisine... it was recommended to me by my professor so we went and tried it out... The menu is interesting to the fact you dont know where to start and what to choose. I know codfish is a staple in portuguese cuisine but im not a fan of this fish so we picked 1 beef stoganoff with fries and rice on side with paõ de queijo its some sort of a cheese bread that is soooo good. The portion size was enough to feed 2. The place is small so you might not find you a seat when its busy. Overall 10/10 💯

(التعليق الأصلي) Gosto bastante desse restaurante, o a massa do pastel é sempre sequinho e crocante e sempre bem recheados.
E V
(التعليق الأصلي) Lovely decoration, friendly staff and delicious coffee. Make sure you grab your "pastel de nata" (custard pie) when you go there. Some cakes tend to be too sweet, they would profit from a reduction of sugar (around 20% or even more).

What is the point of having such restaurant on Zomato App if they neither have the option to order online nor have a menu to display !

This hidden Portuguese gem is a great place to get some traditional pastel de nata and other treats. The savoury snacks are also worth a try!
Fran Girotto
The owner is so proud of his brazilian cheesebread recipe (pão de queijo), it is really delicious. You must also try the Pastel de Frango com Queijo (fried pastry with chicken and cheese filling) - its fresh and crispy. For drinking: Guaraná (soft drink made from amazonian fruit). Great place!

The Manager here is extremely rude. He yelled at us for trying to sit while waiting for takeaway. When my wife tried to say ‘ok we understand’ he started yelling at her.

Good restaurant nice deseart and
the owner is good and generous
Oh what a gem we discovered!

Al Ulya is definitely an excellent destination for Portuguese food. The overall experience was definitely good although there are a few areas that need attention.

First of all the food. I must confess I know the Portuguese cuisine well. And hence I may well have been a bit too particular. The bacalhau was excellent; just the way my wife cooks it. The Francesinha com fries were above average. We found the taste a bit too sharp. The bitoque was really above par. The steak was lean and well seasoned. The fries were excellent.

I was a bit dissapointed with the pastéis. They were good but not as good as the ones I am familiar with.

The service is a bit clunky. There is lot of opportunity to improve the service. For the size of the restaurant and pax, the owner / manager should make an attempt to engage with the guests. Specially given the unique cuisine.

Having said that, this is a must visit spot for Portuguese food. The prices seemed a bit on a higher sidem The restaurant provides a good value proposition for overall experience of food, service and ambience.

A must visit place for exploring different kinds of Portuguese desserts and steaks!!!! Really loved their tiramisu, for 15 dhs it was worth every penny. Loved the hospitality of the owner and his recommendations. Also do try the Nattas (Egg Tart) and that coconut dessert. Everything was perfect!!!!

The food is beyond delicious ! They do require a few more staff because when it gets busy, they tend to a bit slow.
Shabeel Kt
The staff was hesitant and arrogant when asked about the dishes . This leaves a bad remark even though the food was tasty.
Amr I. Salem
One of the waiters seem to be having a tough day, I understand that ... yet I do not appreciate the rude attitude

While food is average, I like that it’s an in-line outlet (not in a mall)
Quite and cozy

I would still recommend it
But the management need to check on their staff coz it’s serious

Wanna have some 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗲 Food ?? Here is the place for you in Abu Dhabi - Al Ulya Portuguese Flavours. As it was my first time they recommended to have Bitoque.
.
Bitoque is a traditional Portuguese dish which consists of a lean fried or grilled steak, that is usually accompanied by fries, rice, various salads and topped with an egg. This recipe has its origin in Beira’s, Portugal.
.
Amazing place, with a cozy environment. A hidden gem in Abu Dhabi. I believe this place is not known to the public yet.
.
Knowing Iam an Indian as first time, owner asked me to try their sweet Pastel de nata for FREE 😋. Oh God I love this Portuguese sweets..its superb yumm..👌🏻👌🏻 and the price is is really cheap. Other than this they got pastel, coxinha, bacalhau, francesinha, caldo de cana, guaraná and lots of authentic Portuguese Brazilian sweets.
.
Price :
Bitoque : AED 50 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Morelli Sparkling Water : AED 12 🤭
.
Location : Al Nahyan, Behind Old Aramex Office, Abu Dhabi
.
Taste - As it was first time, I felt its good
Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Presentation ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Value for Money ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
.
Please follow me for more food Pictures @wanderingg_foodie
•
•
•
@zomatouae @timeoutabudhabi_food @timeoutabudhabi @amazingabudhabi @abudhabi @keralafood
.
#aluyla #travel #iphonephotography #food #f52grams #uaefoodie #foodie #instafood #foodporn #foodphotography #foodstyling #foodiesofinstagram #foodiegram #livetoeat #wanderingg_foodie #eatingfortheinsta #foodaddiction #myabudhabi #abudhabifoodies #mallu #abudhabifoodblogger #mydubai #myuae #foodgasm #foodlover #ilovemyfollowers #follow #uaefoodbloggers #portuguese

Quiet place, food is nice, steak, fish, and pasta. Dessert is also nice but a bit too sweet but if you drink it with coffee you will be fine. Thanks for having us! Definitely try the nata / custard pie 🥧

If you're looking for authentic Portuguese food - you'll find it here. It's like a hidden gem in the city, with a fantastic bakery section. Freshly baked treats. And I can vouch for that, a variety of treats to satisfy a sweet tooth.
Great mains as well, with fries that taste home-made, lovely. I especially love their cane sugar juice, bacalhau gomes de sa (codfish, potatoes, eggs, olives) and the creamy mushroom dish. Wasn't a big fan of the açorda de camarao (hollowed bread, filled w a mix of shrimp and bread). The texture put me off, but the flavour was alright. Ambience was good, and they seem to attract some regulars. Overall, lovely experience and would recommend for anyone keen for some Portuguese flavour.

A must when visiting Abu Dhabi.

The main dishes are cooked in the typical Portuguese style. The portions are just right.

All codfish dishes (bacalhau) that I tried are simply amazing. For a quick bite, I always get the steak sandwich (prego em pão) which is perfect with a little mustard.

The sweets are also like the real stuff that you can get in Portugal. I can’t decide for a favourite one since they do not disappoint at all. The custard tart (pastel de nata) is probably the best in the whole UAE.

Highly recommended.

A decent place with decent food. I didn't find the food impressive, but cannot judge because I have no clue about authentic Portuguese fare. However, the coffee here is one of the best I have ever had and their desserts are good.

The place is quaint and pleasant, and we really enjoyed the time we were there.

Clean and cozy. I am a fan of Portugese cuisine, so I was excited when I went here. But the customer service was lukewarm. I ordered Botique, the fires came in too soggy and salty. I politely asked if they could give me small portion is salad instead. They told me you can add ketchup if it's too salty because they cannot give me anything as replacement. So I asked them to remove the fries because it spoilt the whole meal. Which they were very rectuant to do as well. I left with half finished food and too much salt on my taste buds.

A belated post but still as good.

Coffee, savouries and desserts at an authentic Portuguese bakery cafe. A family owned cafe where coffee is real, everything is baked daily on site and the owner fully explains his foodstuff to the uninitiated and adventurous. Thanks to dear friends Sonia and Jose Fernandes for pointing us here and introducing us to your Portuguese treasures.
The owner was hands on and gave generous complimentary tasting samples. #alUlyaPortugueseCafeBakery

Very good for Portuguese food, especially desserts. Its location is a bit hidden, but public parking is available paid by the hour. The ambiance is calm and the place shows a bit of history about its name. Try a "bacalhau" dish and for dessert, the "pasteis de nata". I believe they also have chourico, roasted over flame and then sandwiched in a "papo seco" bread.

This is a great cafe/restaurant for those that love and miss Portuguese food. The staff is friendly and the owner always comes to the table to make sure you were happy with the service. They also have some Brazilian snacks and deserts like pão de queijo, pastel and brigadeiro.Give it a try,you won’t regret it!
Renz.taurant
*Renz.taurant Rundown:
*The Rave: Al Ulya being the arabic term for Loulé, is a town in South of Portugal with very strong Arab influences. This nook by far “representa bem a comida portuguesa”. A perfect “pasteleria and paladeria” in our humble opinion. A hidden gem in Al Nahyan Camp.
* The Rant: A bit too pricey although it’s worth the money and the servings are good for sharing. They have a no photography policy (on the pastry counter) and menu is not available either on zomato or their social media. However, I was allowed to click some but as a form of respect, I removed the prices on the photos taken from the pastry display counter.
* Recommendations: From Mains to Desserts, everything for me is “uma delicia”, with an exception of Francescinha (Portuguese sandwich with ham, sausage, roast meat and covered with melted cheese). This is too heavy for my liking😵 but the Bacalhau Gomes de Sa(Codfish casserole with potatoes, eggs and olives), Açorda de Camarão (A shrimp dish in a bread bowl), Rissóis de Camarão (Croquettes with shrimp fillings) are all “saboroso divino”. The pasteis de nata, quindims and pudims are all “deliciososamente doce”.

**They specialized in custom made cakes and portuguese sweets for special occassions.

Great place to try out Portuguese pastries. The variety and freshness are unmatched in the UAE. Cozy space, reminding us what it’s like to be in a Portuguese bakery, not too loud and the owner is nice and welcoming. The coffee is great as well. Highly recommended.

We love the food in here. We will drive all the way from Al Reef to savour the Pastel (any of them). Coxinha, brigadeiro and Pastel de Belém, to name a few. Food is delicious and always fresh. The owner of the place is super warm when receiving us. He makes us to feel special. Would have given 5 stars if the staff was as much as nice. Unfortunately he is not. The gentleman behind the counter is always moody and makes us feel unwelcome. What a pity. I will keep coming back in despite of it, because the food is great and the owner is a very nice person.

Situated opposite to Al Wahda bus stop,
One went for breakfast with friends...small but awesome place. Nice crew...have variety of products they prepare...and same goes for their desserts...
They have a good variety of portugese desserts and pastries. The nattas (egg tarts) and the dulce de leches are a must try.. sweet, delicate and heavenly! Good coffees too!
Den Buelva
Egg tarts were amazing, soft, tasty, superb yolks used and pastry was crunchy with great layers on it. My drink was the Chocolate Frappe, quite sweet for me, I was not able to finish it, wish they have dark chocolate. In addition, interiors were homey and warm, well-lighted, ideal for an office lunch or snack or after dinner coffee with friends.
Zeinab Ataya
Just went there for the nattas and they were less than average - a bit too eggy and the base was not thoroughly cooked. The place looked crowded so maybe their other pastries or food are worth a shot.

I may say that is one the best portuguese bakeries I have ever been. The cakes are amazing, as well as the bread! The "açorda de camarão" is a most try. We can really get a Portuguese tasting experience here. The owner is always very friendly and the staff is improving the quality of the service, although the may seen quite stressed when the place is full. Definitely, one of my favourites places in Abu Dhabi!

The place and the food are really great!!! Very taste and delicious.. the customer service was not good .. the young man who attended us has very bad attitude with customers ..

Lovely quaint Portuguese cafe . The menu seemed very traditional , and the dishes turned out to be just that . Authentic flavours and inviting ambience . The owners were very generous - offered us a traditional dessert to try . Was too hungry to take picture of my lunch . Here are few pictures - not doing justice though . :)

Mouth watering, delicious, creamy desserts!
Must try the caramel filling tarts, coconut cookies. They are simply delicious, definitely recommended :)

This 5 is purely for the pastries and coffee. I haven't tried the food yet, but I hope to soon.

It's a challenge finding good coffee in Abu Dhabi, and this place delivers. As an added bonus, their pastries are so, so, so delicious. We had the Torta de Laranja, which was lovely. It was done to perfection - sweet and satisfying by not heavy.

The owner is a real sweetheart and is happy to make recommendations. After being in the UAE for so long, it's nice to get a recommendation from someone who actually cares about the food they are making.

Will be back soon, inshallah. 😍
Fernanda Porto
The quindim and the pudim were delicious! They sell Portuguese cooking supplies and play traditional music.. Certainly made us miss home! :)

Maravilhoso - amazing!! Portuguese / brazilian pastries wonderful. Coxinha de frango, risoles de camarao, caldo de cana, pastel de feira....

I went in Portugal one time in my life and I fall in love with their food. And now I found in Abu Dhabi the same amazing food.
First the place is so nice and so traditional, second the owner is very kind with all the clients and third the food is simply amazing.
I advice NATA (dessert) that is really tasty, even the others dessert are very nice. I always go for lunch and I tried soups and sandwiches. Usually I take even bread to bring at home because it's always fresh 😍
You have to tried at least one time 😍 and ask always to the owner because he will advice you in the best way! 😍
Critiqué Culinaire
A disappointment on my first visit today! Staffs (2 of them), were unskilled in food service (except to their regular customers) and lacks communication skills in articulating their menu. They seem to be very uncomfortable at their workplace. Food I tried today (grilled sandwich) though has an average taste, it could be made better, the presentation is unappetizing, boring that is. Shrimp salad am told is their best, sadly, it's the worse salad I ever had, the dressing is nothing to crave for and a home kitchen can do better.

Nothing of its interior reminds me of Portugal contrary to what I was told. Photos on the wall may speak where Portugal is, but it shows no more than a picture- lacks the language to convey the message of 'what' Portugal is.

I find the entire place 'unrelaxing'- feeling unwelcomed: (i.e,- whilst having the menu on my table and reading them, another customer came in, and waiter attempted to take the menu from me to give it to the customer who came after me. I was petrified, to say the least!

The owner himself has virtually talked to everyone except me! Not sure what to think of that considering he was behind my table where I was.

As to price, though I spent more than 200AED, it's not worth it.

A lot of improvements to be made if this truly wanting to be a gem in Abu Dhabi!
Fullbellynomads
Off the beaten track this little nook is a hidden gem in Abu Dhabi. Unique in its decor, stepping through its doors and you've travelled 3 thousand miles West to the streets of Portugal where you can enjoy some of the most quintessential tastes of Portugal. A must try for the coffee and pastry aficionados but also for those looking to find a relaxing spot that will tantalize your tastebuds. We will be returning ... every weekend .... :)

The food is amazing. Best bakery in town, everything taste homemade. A lot of options for the sweet people and all of them flawless.

Dont forget to ask for sandes, the bread is superb.

Only thing to improve, smiles of the staff!!!

Nice sandwiches ,
Loved the bread 👌
Rich espresso
Attractive decoration 👌
Super service 👍🏼
The desserts are different than the usual 👍🏼

Já lá fui várias vezes e é incrivel! Representa bem a comida portuguesa.
Nuno Quintela
Wonderful bakery with delicious Portuguese pastries! All items manufactured daily in the shop! Very cozy and relaxing place with Portuguese music as background chill out!
Try it. You won't regret it 😉
Christa
Authentic Portuguese coffee shop with great coffee and pastries. Off the beaten track, but well worth the effort to find. Friendly owner and staff, cafe has comfortable couches to spend time and relax.
Leila
Not friendly staff, looks like they are "walking dead", since you come in the shop looks like you are disturbing their peace. Shop was empty, very clean and well decorated. Service is very slow even if the shop is empty, they have a gorgeous display but you are not allowed to take pictures to post on your social media to tell your friends about the place, I guess they have enough customers and refuse free advertising is a way to avoid sales increase. They have a superb food but need to work a lot on customer service since it can ruin all your experience. Definitely will come back because the food is worth of it, price is very cheap, place looks like brand new, but don't expect a good welcome since you are not. Just pic up your food and go.
Ângela Fortes
Wonderful Portuguese cafe!! Very extended menu, great service, super tasty food with good presentation! Quick tip: try their Al-Ulya pizza and their cakes/sweets😍👌
Sofia Santos
This coffee shop is really a piece of Portugal in Abu Dhabi. From the cakes, the sweets or the bread. Everything reminds Portugal. It's a must try.
Eating My Way Around
Great excuse to get off the mall beaten track and into a hidden treasure...and it really is hidden! Delicious Portuguese bakery with a relaxed cozy feel. We went for brekkie hoping for some unique items and although there was a lot of choice in the baked cabinet, the meal choices were slim. Sandwiches (although v yummy) and pizza wasnt what I had in mind. Maybe more of a lunch/tea and coffee spot
