i am a bit disappointed. Majority of restaurants around you seems easy to book table with, except yours; i have been trying for over an hour to call the number at multiple time i had a dead line, no other alternative can you please look at correcting the issue. i can say previously i had a good experience in your cafe restaurant i wanted to return for Iftar but didn't want to be refused a sit with my guests therefore going elsewhere .
One of the best places to taste Morrocan cuisine. I always recommend this place as the food is absolutely delicious and the staff are incredibly warm and helpful. We have had the Chicken Pastilla, Chicken Tagine, Lentil Soup, and Mixed Grill which were all beautiful dishes in their own right! I heard that the restaurant is closed but I really hope that is not true as I was really looking forward to coming back soon! :)
This was my first time ordering from La Passion and I have ordered their lamb tagine with potato and olives, the food was excellent and the delivery was fast! I was really satisfied with their food, a bit expensive but the food was really worth it which makes me want to order again and very soon! Perhaps will start trying other dishes.
So here's the scoop on this (sort of) hidden gem. Does it taste like authentic Moroccan food? Yes and no. Through no fault of theirs, fillo pastry does not make for perfect pastilla or breiwat. To be honest they were like samosas stuffed Moroccan style. HOWEVER, the couscous was phenomenal and so was the lamb tagine with caramelized onions and raisins; not to mention the hot and toasty bread served before the meal. The harira was pretty decent, although a bit lacking in the meat department. Although what's really missing at La Passion is the ambience, being inconveniently located at a corner in a café like setting doesn't give you the homey feeling you get at other places.
So would I come here again? I'd order some of their yummy tagine to my house, but i doubt I'll physically eat there again.
I like marocon cuisine a lot and this place has good food .. I ordered beef couscous and harera soup (one of my fav soups ) and it was great choice but the service took some time
Bravo! The food tastes just like you are eating in Morocco, authentic recipe, authentic ingredients and taste. You can feel the love that went into the food. The name says it all, "La Passion".
Really really love the harira soup, all tagine plates and vegetables couscous, we live nearby and we keep coming back for these!! Recommended
The best Moroccan restaurant in UAE and the best Moroccan food you can ever have in UAE. Very delicious and fresh food, outstanding service and quiet environment in open space will give you the feeling that you are overlooking the whole place. The tagine are so delicious that you will always like to come back. The owner are very friendly, it is highly advisable to book before going there as it is always crowded.
Excellent food quality and hospitality, great tasty marocan Tagen and Couscous, in my opinion it's the best Marocan food in Abu Dhabi. Advise every one to try.
Good Moroccan food, you can tell that the chef knows what he is doing. Tried the lamb couscous with vegetable, it's a must try. Location is just a bit far from downtown, but it is worth the journey.
As someone who spent 4 years in Morocco, is passionate about their food and is married to a Moroccan, I can totally recommend this place. We were craving Rfissa but unfortunately that needed to be ordered ahead. We went for Zaalouk, Chicken Bestilla, Lamb prune Tajine and Chicken Mhammer and it was all equally delicious. Even the appetisers were authentic. The taste of the olives and the olive oil took us back to Morocco. The chef was very friendly and so was the serving staff. We will definitely go back there whenever we are in Abu Dhabi.
I am moroccan, and I must say that this restaurant is one of the best, the food is very delicious and it tastes like a home made tagines..
The service is very good and the portions re quit big comparing to other places.
The place is small but it offers authentic moroccan cuisine. The Moroccan breakfast portion is enough for 1 individual, and it is delicious. The service is good and the ambiance is welcoming.
The closest thing to authentic moroccan food available in Abudhabi. Breakfast took me back to my holiday in marrakech. Along with the music in the background. This place feels like it has been taken from Alfana mosque square in marrakech and put in Alreem island Abu Dhabi.
The service is a bit slow, however the food is worth the wait.
Food is amazing... Though, 3rd time I come and they are out of the chilly mix Harris, too bad :(
Prices are quiet above average but the value and quantity are more than enough :)
Recommend Harira, Kofta Tajin, Couscous
Wawwww !! I had heard about this restaurant some time ago but didn't take time to visit. Well until last week when I visited a friend living in Sun tower. We went for an afternoon tea and it was so yummy. Everything from the tea, to the moroccan sweets. It was really good. My friend's child was a bit hungry so we ordered a margarita pizza, it's apparently not yet on their menu, but if you ask them to do it they will make it happen. It was nice, the cheese they're using is top quality (President French brand) so I guess that's why the taste was so authentic. The small bite of pizza kept me asking for more and we ended up chatting and having dinner there, I ordered a chicken tagine and my friend got the chicken pastilla. They were both yummy, the chicken pastilla is a bit sweet, it's more for the sweet sour lovers. My tagine was tangy, with tender chicken, the bread was unlike any other I've tried in Abu Dhabi so good !
La passion hit a spot with me, and will probably visit again this weekend, I'm already eyeing the seafood pastilla and the konafa ! Overall, highly recommend.
PS : On my way out I ended up buying the moroccan argan oil, have been trying it and it really soothes my dry hands! Beauty bonus ;)
We live on Reem island and are regular visitors to this wonderful restaurant. The food is delicious, service is great and it is great value for money. Unlike most places in abu dhabi they do not charge a fortune hence why we visit at least twice a month. Highly recommend!
Although Moroccan may not be our first choice of dinner option, having La Passion in the building is good - I order the chicken pastilla alone from time to time. It is delicious. That's it and that's all. 2 of them will fill you up.
The tagine is good. As it should be.
Recommends for a change of taste.
The food is good. The price is right. The environment is very nice. The staff is friendly. The service is quick. I will definitely come back here.
Always good fresh homemade style food ... service is attentive and cheerful staff... beautiful ambient atmosphere .... and the pots really make u feel u r in morrocco
it's all about the breakfast. When one is really starving in the morning this is the right place for a huge breakfast. No other place I tried so far is worth La Passion for breakfast. Other than this the pastilla is also good.
I go here strictly for the Konafa- it's so unique and delicious. It's more of a hard-shelled Konafa, unlike the traditional one. I have this along with Moroccan tea. Both are great. The ambiance of this cafe is very nice and the servers are also great. Sometimes they have provided us with complimentary sweets as well. Would love to try their Tagine some day.
really tasty Moroccan cuisine. Love their Couscous & their chicken pastilla with cinnamon. The decor is average but the food & service make it all worthwhile.
La Passion Cafe - I thought this was a nice French cafe, but it turned out to be a Moroccan cafe that served some really wonderful food - arguably one of the better meals I had while in Abu Dhabi. Located on Reem Island, on the ground floor of Boutik Mall, La Passion Cafe, or LPC, is pretty open - meaning there's no glass facade or walls that 'cover' the restaurant. The restaurant isn't very big in terms of seating capacity, but decently sized. The manager is very friendly and is always ready to help and make suggestions.
We started off with an order of fried calamari. The flavouring was a complex mixture of lemon, garlic, coriander, pepper, and some other herbs. The calamari was fresh and tasted really nice, and the aioli dip went very well with it. The order dish we ordered was a seafood pastilla. No, this isn't even close to being a pasta of any kind. It's a Moroccan filo pastry that's filled with a mixture of vermicelli and spicy seafood. This was an awesome snack. I truly wish I could have had more of this, but my friend didn't want to as he wanted to try some other dishes for our mains. However, in case anyone does visit LPC, please do try the pastilla - they also have a version in chicken in case seafood isn't appealing enough.
For the mains, since this was a Moroccan place, we just had to have tagine. Now the tagine is actually a dish, or a vessel, in which the food is cooked. I went for the kefta (or meatballs) tagine, and my friend opted for the chicken tagine. But dishes arrived in style. Well ok, not really, but the fact that the tagines were places on our tables and the top was taken off, allowing the aromas of the dish to waft up to the olfactory system, making us get lost for a moment in the delightful aromas of the food that had just been cooked. The base of the tagine dish (the reddish-brown plate-like dish in the picture) was hot - like super hot, so you'll have to be careful. The food - heavenly. The meatballs, with a fried egg on top with the sunny side up, was striking in appearance, and also delicious on the palate. The meat was soft, well flavoured, and the sauce it was simmering had such a lovely flavour it reminded me of sitting on the shores of Nice and staring out into the blue at the Mediterranean. The chicken tagiine was equally good. Accompanied with olives and a citrus (lemon) flavour, the chicken was absolutely tender, and literally falling off the bone. And yes, it was still juicy, not dry. Simply brilliant.
When you order food and it hits the right spot straight away, you're always gonna remember such meals. My meal at LPC was one such meal. Although I have had Moroccan food before, this took the whole experience to the next level. Absolutely recommended if you're in Abu Dhabi - make time and visit LPC.
La Passion Cafe has been on my mind since the past 1 month. Though I honestly wouldn't even know about this place had it not been for the voucher I was gifted, reason being, it’s located in Reem Island and I haven't really discovered much in Reem Island as yet.
In fact I also tried visiting this place about 2 weeks back but ended up losing my way and did not reach the destination.
Finally last weekend I decided to go here and try out Moroccan cuisine for the very 1st time with my family.
The manager of the outlet recommended the buffet they were serving, but that did not seem to impress either of my family members and hence we decided to go with a la carte. We ordered for chicken breast in mushroom sauce, chicken tagine, seafood tagine and brochettes chicken.
Tagine, I believe is referred to as a pot which is served with a semi-gravy dish. The chicken tagine was marinated in lemon and olives. This was very appetizing, however it wasn’t boneless (And just a reminder, I can’t stand chicken with bone)
As for the seafood tagine, this was basically fish tagine and the fish was so soft that it almost melted in my mouth. The spices used in this dish tasted very Indian and masale-dar, in fact what’s funny is that my mom thought it tasted exactly like this ‘Punjabi Machli’ she has had before. But nonetheless, it was flavorsome.
Moving on to the Chicken in Mushroom Sauce and Chicken Brochettes, both these dishes had one thing in common; they lacked tenderness, it was almost impossible to break the chicken into pieces. The mushroom sauce was mouth-watering and really blended well with the chicken. The chicken brochette on the other hand could have been a little juicier.
We also ended our meal with Moroccan tea that was simply out of this world and was one of the best I have ever had.
The interior of this place is slightly random but not bad either, it's like any other ordinary cafe in a mall. In fact the mall this is located in, i.e. the Boutik mall is filled only with cafes.
The manager Mr. Taib was attending to us and he was extremely sweet and friendly. He also spoke to us quite a bit about Moroccan food and culture.
The prices are average; it’s about 45 - 50 per dish.
Overall it was quite a good experience trying out this new cuisine.
I would rate this place a 3.5/5
If you haven’t been out to Reem Island and visited the Boutik Mall located between the Sun and Sky Towers, you might want too sometime soon. Though there are not allot of stores open yet, there are several coffee shops, a grocery store, a couple of ice-cream shops and a quaint little Moroccan restaurant called La Passion Café that are. I went here last night with a friend just to check out this restaurant that serves up, from we have heard, some awesome traditional Moroccan cuisine. My friend and I were not disappointed, the food was good and the prices were reasonable for what you get. We each had a starter/appetizer and a main course meal and the price was about 100 Dirhams each. I can see this place becoming very popular when the mall finally gets the remainder of its stores open. This place was definitely worth the trip.
