Muallim Hassan is one of the oldest Turkish restaurants in Abu Dhabi.
The restaurant has been renovated a few years ago and is the better for it.
They serve an assortment of grills including mixed grills.
They are also very famous for their Turkish Shawarma which is basically a shawarma rolled in a large Turkish bread which resembles an Indian Naan. A choice of Mutton or chicken is available.
An assortment of other sandwiches like liver, meat and vegetables are also available.
Their falafels are also extremely delicious and most visitors to the restaurant will get a complimentary felafel or two or three.
They also serve a refreshing buttermilk which is brewed in-house.
One of the main problems with this restaurant is that there is very limited parking available, and the restaurant is good to quickly grab a sandwich or two or to pick up your order.
Their taste has remained consistent over the years and serves arguably one of the best shawarmas in Abu Dhabi.
Prices have increased slowly over time, but is still good value for money.
My go to place to appease shawarma cravings as it's very close to where I live. Never been disappointed with the food. Service is good.
Parking might be an issue as it's located in a prime area.

A pocket friendly restaurant that serves yummy Shawarma. The waiters are really sweet and they do give you a free falafel while you are waiting for them to prepare your shawarma (take away). I usually order there mixed grill , fattoush and hummus Beiruti. The place is mostly crowded so getting a table is quite difficult.

We often order their mixed grills platter for family lunches. Everything is delicious, portions are generous and prices are very reasonable. On the other hand, I think their Shawarmas are average and somewhat dry. It could use more work.

One of the old restaurants in Abu Dhabi maintaining good standards, it’s conveniently located for those who can park at a distance. Pocket friendly, great old style Shawarma and grill and daily dish are all to be tasted. Friendly staff and prompt home delivery makes it a great place to eat from. Recommended!
Have heard a lot about their shawarmas so went there to try that only.. tried their Mexican and chicken shawarma.. the bread used was different than many other outlets selling shawarmas. Loads of chicken filled in each along with French fries and some kinda white sauce maybe garlic sauce( it should have been more) . This time also I dint find Mexican shawarma to b spicy. Overall the shawarma was of good size and taste.
I had Beef Shawarma and Mixed Grill. Both were superb especially the Shawarma. Their Turkey Bread is also awesome. The staff is very friendly.
But please avoid the broasted chicken, its very very salty plus they will have only wings only always
Went their first time for a charcoal chicken take away.Staffs are very friendly.They give complimentary falafel while waiting for food.Falafel is crisp and tasty.Charcoal chicken was tasty and juicy inside.
Waited there for about half an hour which gave me privilege to watch staff making wraps of different varieties.They listen to the customer very nicely.

Best shawarmas EVER, period.
There is something unique about the meat and garlic sauce here that I do not find in other shawarma joints. It is so mouth wateringly delicious that I am salivating right now, lol. It is no surprise that the size of a shawarma can fit in our pockets as compared to before, however it is well worth the 6 bucks. Even their falafels are crispy and served fresh ( complimentary - while you wait on your shawarmas to be packed:) )
I always get my shawarmas packed for takeaway but the restaurant has quite a decent space for dining in. The staff is also very polite and serve with a smile.

When in Abu Dhabi my craving is only to have Shawerma. Always have a visit here. Chicken and Mutton Shawermas are lip-smacking and authentic to taste. Falafels are must have staying to its crispiness and yet fresh munchiness. Mix grill is also must have as each and every piece is delicious and fresh. Avocado juice is the best milkshake i ever had.
Price is very reasonable but Quantity is always served in plenty 💝💝💝💝

I drove specially from Dubai to this place to eat some Shwerma , Its very Authentic and reminds me of back home Shawerma that is made to taste like a shawerma , not like a salad .

I specially drove from Dubai to muallim Hassan as I was craving for it.
Finally after 2 hrs drive reached and it didn't disappoint at all.

Their shawarma was ok. The garlic paste was lacking a bit of sourness which makes their chicken shawarma a bit bland. Even the beef shawarma was lacking some taste to me. Maybe in their sauce? Perhaps i'm comparing it to other best tasting shawrmas that i had.
Favorite shawarma location.. Even though some staffs aren't friendly, the food is great.. After all who cares about staffs when the food tastes awesome!! 😋

muallim hassan is just along passport road/ al falah street nearby wearmart. we usually pass by this place and loved their charcoaled grill chicken..place is fine with some tables and staff are warmth and accomodating. they also served great shawarmas with their special bread and loved their other sandwiches such us liver and felafel..while u wait they also give some complimentary felafel..

The shawarmas from here are great. So are the falafels. We ordered mix grill once from here. It took a bit of time but they brought it to our car. The mix grill was great. It came with fries, kuboos (arabic bread) and fries. Would definitely be going back for some more authentic arabic food.

Still one of the best grilled chicken(35aed) and shawarmas in the city and only at 6aed. After all these years and a short closure for renovation which caused a lot of frustration for the regulars, they are still the best and consistent in flavours . The shawarmas are still just as yummy and tasty. It tastes even better the next day when the flavors have soaked through. The machine and charcoal grilled chicken are throughly cooked but tender and juicy. The flavors simple and clear. (I would love some more salt rub on it ☺) and the standard set of garlic paste,hummus, salad and bread just right for a take away or a picnic out in the park. At 35aed its a fair price. I visited yesterday at around 10:40 am but the chicken was just starting and the shawarma stack just loaded. No chance. Chicken starts getting off the grill at 12noon. I obviously returned at around 1 pm to satisfy my craving and came out with much more than I came for. The resto boss/owner was so happy to hear about an old customer coming back after a long time and reminiscing about the old arrangement and traffic the customers in cars made that he made me drink up a bowl of warm creamy tomato soup, sent me off with a free take away platter of flavored rice (lamb yum!) and some warm minced meat with tomato sauce. And more free hummus. I love Muallim Hasan and not because I went home happy . It felt like coming home to your mum's kitchen and being welcomed warmly. The space downstairs is bigger now and so is the 2nd floor, the loo clean and the kitchen an open design. Food is simple, unassuming, warm or hot as you wish off the kitchen and very filling. I'm still more comfortable for take away though. And dont expect that this is a fine dining, upper scale resto. It has a cafeteria atmosphere specially now with the downstairs seating and better for a no nonesense meal. Come to eat and to get full with satisfying food. Not for the ambiance. I'm not giving them a full five as they are doing more changes but flavor wise, It's a keeper on my list.
Now this place is too too good !!! It's a Turkish restaurant which serves amazing grills abc shawarmas!!! However reading all the previous reviews I couldn't see anyone recommend their lunch. Their lunch is out of the world a must do on a lazy sat afternoon especially when u have a big appetite !! They have a set menu which is displayed(mouth watering to look at) but they serve it along with a fresh salad and soup and traditional pulao or rice!!! Word of caution :Better be hungry as a bear 😝

Muallim Hasan Restaurant has been my go to place whenever I've had cravings for chicken or kabab.
I have tried their Sheesh Tawook sandwich and their Grilled Chicken which is one of the best I've had. Their service is pretty good as well. The restaurant is pretty neat, clean and tidy. Everything is good about this place except for the serving size and the price point which I feel is not really worth it. Though I would just go again and again for the taste of their delicious sandwiches.

Summary : Good and average tasty food
On a recent visit to Abu Dhabi, we felt like having Lebanese Grill for iftar. So we ordered a Muallim Hassan Special Grill. There was a variety of meat in the grill along with a generous amount of salad and dips.
The seekh kababs were tender and surprisingly flavourful - One of the best I have tasted in the UAE. The hummus,tabouleh and garlic dips were extremely tasty and well-prepared. The only complaint I had was that the stuffed pita bread was a little too burnt at the edges and left a bitter taste in my mouth.
Over-all the grill made for a perfect iftar without us feeling way too stuffed or drowsy by the end.
Muallim Hassan is just close to my house. The home delivery is also fast It takes only 15 minutes for me. The shawarma is also great but it's a bit zesty cause of the garlic sauce. Their grills are great too and even their fresh rocket leaves! I do recommend this place…
If u want a try a shawarma in abu dhabi.then this is the place to try.Try the Especial Shawarma from here......Also the Cocktail Juice is a must try.......

Watch out, it's like an addiction. The shawarmah juices will somehow get into your bloodstream and you subconsiously will pull over for a shawarmah every time you pass the restaurant, which a person living in Abu Dhabi has to drive by the restaurant at least twice a week. (This only applies for people who grew up on the island and not newbies who deserted the Abu Dhabi island for Al Reem, Al Bandar, etc)
To sum up - Its crazy good, but its crazy addictive.

Mualim Hassan Special Mixed Grill!!! What other reason do you need to visit Mualim Hassan? The best mixed grill in town I'd say. It is a bit expensive compared to other restaurants, but its worth it!
One of the best shawarmas in town too. You can't find spicy shawarmas though (unless you dont mind having hot sauce in your shawarma).
This place is another personal favorite of mine for genuine Arabic Cuisine, Grilled Chicken, Arabic Mixed Grill, Shawarma and Filafil in town. The Grill Chicken is mind blowing with some Hammous.
Parking spaces the only issue that might effect you. Thumbs up to this place anytime, any day.

My parents say I had my first shawarma at the tender age of 11 months - which makes it one of the first ever solid food to enter my digestive tract. It might probably because of this reason that shawarmas have been an inevitable part of my life ever since. I can proudly say that I have had shawarmas from almost every place they serve it in the city of Abu Dhabi. And if you ask me where did I find the best, I wouldn't take a millisecond to answer Muallim Hassan. All Lebanese Flower and Rousha shawarma fanatics, may I please ask you to take a bite into this pita bread-garlic paste-chicken in all its glory. You're all welcome. They also have a variant called the special shawarma, with the longer Turkish pide (pita bread) instead of the traditional one. It has always been one of the most satisfying and fulfilling 10 Dhs I have ever spent on anything.
Shawarma aside, they do have the mixed grills, and the usual arabic menu - but I rarely think of anything else once I get there. Would be worthwhile to even give their fresh leben (buttermilk/strained yogurt) a try. Refreshing in the summers.
