There are so many affordable restaurants in and around Fujairah City. In this new feature we seek out some of these restaurants and try to give as positive a review as possible. Our reviews are conducted anonymously whenever possible, and our reviewers pay for their meals.
afghan 4 a gifWe decided to visit this restaurant as we were hungry. I suggested this particular one as I had seen it in passing when driving through town the day before and the word ‘rice’ in the restaurant name had caught my eye.
Rice dishes are usually quite filling….
In fact, this restaurant did not disappoint because the rice was delicious!
But let’s start this review with a few pieces of information: this restaurant is situated near Choithram supermarket and it is basic but clean and it has a friendly vibe.
If you do not expect five star surroundings, cloth napkins or glasses from which to drink, then you will not be disappointed. For those people who like to eat good food and who enjoy seeing a large variety and a large amount of it spread all over the table, then this is a decent place to come.
As my mother said “you should go to this restaurant when you are hungry”; the food is served very fast and the portion sizes are very generous indeed. We liked the individual salad portions given at the start of our meal, the complimentary flat bread was soft and very tasty, the rice dishes were delicious, the meat and chicken was well cooked and my father thoroughly enjoyed the kofta and mixed vegetables dishes and he was pleased with his order of ‘special bread’ (1 dh).
The service is efficient and friendly and the waiter returned during the meal to ask if everything was alright, the whole restaurant is unpretentious, there is a family area to which we were directed, which is screened off from the rest of the room and which has its own entrance (men who dine on their own in this restaurant sit on raised platforms and are surrounded by cushions against which to rest while they eat their food) and you can choose your food from a menu which has useful pictures, even though the dish names are written in both Arabic and English.
As a rough guide, the variety of dishes available includes: hummus or Arabic salad (5 dhs), chana dal or tabouleh (7 dhs), lamb chops or Afghani seekh boti (17 dhs), fish with rice or pashawari Karachi chicken (20 dhs) or a mixed grill (35 dhs for a half portion). For some dishes you are able to choose half or full portions, such as the chicken charcoal (13/26 dhs), the pashawari Karachi mutton (30/60 dhs) or the chicken with rice (20/40 dhs). A large water is 2 dhs and a soft drink can is 1.50 dhs.

My mother believes that this restaurant is very good value for money and for appetites and I must say I agree with her. We arrived feeling very hungry and we left feeling totally replete.
We enjoyed the experience and we would definitely dine there again. When we left we asked for a take away menu and we received both it and a business card, both of which had clear contact details and a decent map on them.
If you are looking for an affordable meal, are willing to eat a lot of good food in plain surroundings and do not mind eating off plastic plates or being given a thin table cloth which you spread out yourself, then this is a good place to try.

Zamarod Al Afghani Rice Bukhari Restaurant 09 2233260
Its one of our favourite place. The staff is so friendly that they almost force-feed you. They have special place for family with huge curtains for privacy. Their meals are soooo delicious and fresh. Simple flavours, less spices, decent portions, inexpensive and authenticity are their key words.
The meat in Afgani Pulao is the star!
This place is our favorite!!! They served the best food. We loved their bukhari rice match with chicken charcoal served along with french fries, vegetable and ohh the tomato salsa - everything is just perfection. Aside from that you should order the bread 😋
