So after reading a lot of reviews about this place, finally I selected it as our valentine's Day dinner venue. I was not disappointed however I was just hoping I was informed about the fixed menu option or minimum spend option while making the reservation. There was a minimum spend of AED 300 per person on the valentine's Day or we could go for fixed menu. I chose to go ala carte. We ordered gingerbread mojito for drinks which was up to the mark. Kebab grill platter became our starter was good too. Their tomato soup is a must try. We ordered tandoori shrimp biryani which was delicious. The superstar was their dessert jalebi caviar which not only looked amazing but it's taste is unforgettable. I would really appreciate our server for that day BoBo who recommended all the dishes as per our tastes and likes. He was great at his job. Good place for special days.
Ever since Jiggs Kalra’s Masala Library opened at JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, it’s a restaurant I had always wanted to visit. I have never been to any Masala Library’s Indian outposts, so I had nothing to go on except for Jiggs Kalra’s reputation, hype and hearsay. So when a foodie friend and I were going to meet for a long waited catch up – the choice was made simple by the fact that both of us wanted to go to the same place.
The ambiance is very luxurious and beautiful.
Food is good and also presented beautifully. The only thing is their portion sizes are very less.
I loved that they surprised me with a sweet platter on my anniversary and also a card wishing me my day which was signed by all the staff members.
Good place to celebrate your special occasions.
Well its an amazing place for fine dining. Courteous staff. Niket attended to us and gave the best suggestions. Enjoyed the food to the max. Would definitely come back!!
Fantastic food, flavors and service. The space is large in the restaurant and the ambience is sophisticated with a modern
Indian theme. Very cool
We were served by Rutendo. An excellent host, who knew what was happening. She guided us through the menu selection and through the 12 courses of the experience menu we finally ended up taking. The food portioning was good and adequate. The flavours were excellent. And yes, it did take us a shade over two hours to finish the meal. The chicken tikka 3 way was unique for me...as was the ras malai. The selection of the dishes in the menu were good. The breads were very good. The one thing which may be improved is the temperature of the food...it can be made to serve a bit more hot than it was. Else, overall, it was a very satisfying experience.
One of the best fine dining restaurant in town.. and their 12 course meal is a must have.. i was super impressed with the quality of food and the way presentation is done.. kudos to Chef Vaibhav Sawant for recommending it to us..
Right portions for the set menu. Could try all the items on the set menu and still not feel bloated. To me personally the haleem was the best I ve ever had.
We had a great experience at the Masala Bar restaurant, with a 12 course meal that took us through a journey of India! The highlight, besides the amazing dishes (each one of which packs a flavorful punch), was this levitating dessert! Highly recommended!
If you like than better go and try value for money. Mouth watering with innovative style of mixing ingredients to sound cool. Love the way they presented food on table special all crew member who make us feel delight. Sure try
Masala Library by Jiggs Kalra, is not a restaurant but a complete luxurious fine dining gastronomic experience!! The restaurant is in the beautiful J W Marriott Marquis Hotel and welcomes you with plush interiors and beautiful views of Dubai Canal. The service by super courteous staff is impeccable. Our whole experience was just wonderful!!
We had Innocent Passion, Reberry Shrub and Gingerbread Mojito for Mocktails. All were refreshing.
For starters we had Pea Puchka, Corn poppers and Pesto kebabs.
For mains we jad Chestnut kofta, Rasam curry and breads.
Desserts took my heart away. We had Jalebi Caviar and Rasmalai tres leche. I can go again and again for the super scrumptious Jalebi Caviar. A must must try dessert.
Highly recommended place for a truly gastronomic experience.
Masala Library by Jiggs Kalra is probably the first fine-dining molecular gastronomy Indian cuisine restaurant to be fed to India. This exceptional brand is heralded by the food entrepreneur Zohrawar Kalra who has been rapidly launching his food empire all over the world...and rightfully being awarded for it.
Their 'Masala Library Experience' (Chef's tasting menu) is definitely one to try. All of the dishes in the massive menu were spectacular, but I wanted to highlight one that I really appreciated - the Ashen Kulfi with candied nuts. Ash taken from banana leaves is part of the ingredients used to prepare ice cream that tastes amazing and very different. It's a taste that can't be described easily and also one that doesn't leave your palette that easily because of its uniqueness.
Well worth going to this fabulous restaurant and experiencing a true gastronomical delight.
I went to Masala Library for my anniversary. The service is top notch. Our sever Jensen helped us order the dishes and was very friendly. The view is amazing, as you can see Business Bay and the creek fountain. Food portions are ideal for 2 or 3 people. Prices are extremely high so this will be a special occasion place.
A complete luxurious Indian dining experience in the heart of the city!
Absolutely love the interiors & the music definitely sets the mood right.
They recently opened a bar and I visited to try out some of their signature drinks & dishes. My whole experience was brilliant. Starting from the service, we were attended to by cheerful staffs who explained the story behind each dish & drink.
I'd highly recommend trying their signature cocktails & creative drinks. Very smooth drinks. We also loved their food menu. My top recommended would be the Lamb biryani, Umami mushroom kofta curry & Beef kebabs. They also have a lot other options to choose from.
The view from the restaurant is beautiful too!
Highly recommend for a good fine dining experience.
What. An. Experience. If you are a foodie and you have not eaten at the Masala Library , you are definitely missing out on life. Had the chance to experience the tasting menu and it was absolutely an experience worth having. Each dish , while being served , was explained in detail by the employees on how it is made and what is the history behind the dish. I cannot stress enough on how mesmerized i felt after this meal. It is totally a VFM place in my opinion.
We had celebrated our anniversary at Masala library last week, I have to say even after having to book the table last minute, the restaurant accommodate us also made it really special for us to celebrate, they helped us the menu selection, We had umami crumbled paneer, chicken tikka and roasted cashew nut paneer with some breads. All of which was just amazing We were hosted by Mr. Gerald who gave us amazing service.
Thank you to entire team of masala library..
Food is really good, meantime this whole concept is getting a bit overused in Dubai. Infact all places, be it Tres ind, Jodhpur, Farzi cafe, serve the same kind of food.
Went to celebrate a birthday and wasn't disappointed...amazing starters and main course..
Masala Library has found itself a beautiful spot in the JW Marqui hotel and welcomes one with its very vibrant and beautifully done up decor. Went there for a special occasion and the wonderful staff made the evening even more special. We both tried the set menu which served a variety of taste buds tingling dishes. Their concept is to serve dishes from various states of India so you get a bit of north south east and west India. The dishes are an prepared artistically and are flavorful. Definitely worth a visit and definitely worth trying their set menu.
Masala library is a pretty cool nouveau Indian restaurant with an interesting decor and friendly service. I thought the restaurant was a bit dark and too large, but the food was quite good and reasonably priced for a celebrity chef-driven restaurant.
Visited Masala Library for a dinner date with my husband and came back super impressed with the ultra modern molecular gastronomical take on the Indian culinary tradition.
We went for the indulgent set menu which offered 12 course meals( one veg and one non veg) combining bite sized appetisers and generously sized portions of main course. The first dish served a was a perfect visualisation of birds eggs within a nest which was actually an amuse bouche of mango pulp floating on a vase of coconut water. Executed with sheer perfection they had us with the first serve itself :)
What followed was a series of various appetisers served on unique crockery. Mushroom tea which was prepared in front of us in a mini tea service ceremony was a highlight. Dehydrated mushrooms and truffle oil dried in crumbs were put into a cup as a clear stock was poured. We loved it. Among the many others were jhaal muri cookie, a deconstructed samosa, corn Khees popper, caviar malai prawns etc. After we finished with the appetisers, we were given a palate cleanser which tasted superb.
Then came the main course with dishes like bhindi jaipuri, rajasthani mutton curry with shell kachori, gujrati kadhi risotto, dal and a lamb and grain stew. Every dish tasted so good that it delivered the best of what Indian cuisine has to offer.
The desserts just blew our minds away: Jalebi caviar- jalebi pearls with condensed milk and saffron foam, dehydrated charcoal kulfi and makkhan malai with sugar glazed crisp :)
A visit to Masala Library is a must as it will revive all your senses and create an impression that will last for a lifetime.
(This is my longest review on Zomato )
One of the best indian restaurants in town. Loved their chicken tikka and salmon appetizer. Great staff but the waitress wasn't as helpful in explaining the menu.
Masala Library is a replacement of Rang Mahal. Has a new fantastic menu all done by Jiggs Kalra.
Awesome place and best staff
We had the chief taste menu, 12 course meal (vegetarian and non vegetarian)
it was a good experience
Lovely food ,Anand made sure we had a great experience !

A new indian cuisine in town. From the same owner of Farzi Cafe. I call it the fancy sibling of Farzi. Ordered the set menu, modernized indian food, looks so simple but very delicious. every dish was mesmerizing in it’s own way.
this resturant is located in ( business bay ) and they serve great food to their consumer with great service and ambience over there is also good fome of the dishes i like there are as follows:
Loved their food their ambiance what I really didn’t liked is the masala mocktail with Indian spices rest all the food was outstanding we ordered mouthwatering daal makhni with amazing malai paneer and their chicken tikka was amazing in staters I really liked everything their ❤️ would highly recommend this place this restaurant is in JW Marriott downtown
Last night we celebrated our friends birthday at Masala. The staff was amazing especially Pankaj and the food is too good especially the Gujarati Khichdi. A must visit place for Jain and veg lovers.
I've been holding on to visit Masala Library, with certain surveys I knew about their Mumbai restaurant. With now it being in Dubai, it was a simpler reach :)
Worth the visit, as Indian food is bright and lively with the almost the same titled dish can be played such a great amount with flavors, the way its presented and much more. Masala Library exactly does only that for you. It is anything but an any customary Indian restaurant with an extraordinary taste and some great taste to look inside. They make a point to focus on all the minute details and do take care of with personal requirements.
It's genuinely extraordinary and coziest spot i've anytime been to. The staffs are kind and very satisfying, and explained everything that we ate. The food itself is yummy and rich in flavor, they have a separate vegetarian menu which was very appealing and appreciating. I will never forget the way they helped me celebrate my dads birthday making it really special for him.
We ordered the corn khees poppers with masala challi, bhindi jaipuri with hand pounded churma and the almond crusted water chestnut with the masala library bread basket. In the drinks i ordered the innocent passion. The cherry on the cake was the chocolate mousse for my dad!
I'm going back again.. Whose joining me the next time I'm here!!

I’ve been waiting to visit Masala Library, with some reviews I heard of their Mumbai venue. With now it being in Dubai, it was an easier reach :)
Worth the visit, as Indian food is so vibrant with the same titled dish can be played so much with flavours, textures, presentations and more.
Masala Library does just that for you. Not an ordinary Indian restaurant, great taste and some good variety to explore within.
My top picks were:
Mutton seekh Kabab with the green mango chutney
Chicken tikka done 3 ways, interesting with the chicken based dip and chicken curated papad/ crisp
Malai Prawn
Rajasthani lal maas
Thokku Chicken
Jalebi Caviar was fun too :)
Dark chocolate ganache with mousse, for choco lovers like me..who need the touch of choco to wrap up :)
For those who have been to the earlier restaurant in the same venue, may not get a new look as such, but would enjoy again the high ceilings and the grandness of those pillar set ups :)
Much like the proliferation of Greek restaurants in the city at the moment, even non-foodies can recognize the market for upper-end Indian/Indian molecular gastronomy in Dubai is a complicated and saturated market. Residents of the city are spoiled for choice, with numerous restaurants making the list. So, how does the relaunched and rebranded Masala Library by Jiggs Kalra stack up against the competition?
Ventured into this joint at a friends recommendation and certainly walked out as a happy foodie. The aerated dahi bada is a must have for chaat lovers. Don’t miss the soft shell crab and their lamb chops. If u r a fan of duck I recommend the kashmiri chilli duck aloo bukhara. Ended the meal with a delicious jalebi caviar. Portions were better than I expected and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Service was quick too. Would love to go there again and try more stuff off their menu.
Visited this place for a family birthday. Overall a nice place which has retained the interiors of Rang Mahal. Their set menu is true value for money with wide variety of items.
I would rate this place 10 on a 5 . This place is so amazing. I have had their food in Delhi also. I love their chicken tikka and keema mutton in main course. It is a perfect fine dine place
The real taste of Indian in the middle of the desert.
Wonderful atmosphere, great facility very calm and quite, perfect for a romantic night. Reasonable price for a good quality food. Waiters are a little too slow to bring menu and didn’t change our plate, just under specific request. You would expect perfection from such a place. Overall experience has been very pleasant. I suggest naan bread and chicken tikka Masala !
Food is brilliant ,set up is brilliant ,the idea of the set menu is brilliant.however the main issue is not serving when asked for .that was extremwly frustrating ,we went for the set menu and we had to keep asking for starters amd appetisers but the woman kept resisting, when one pays 225/- aed per person and not able to eat what they wAnt then its not cool.my only request is to offer generously specially when one has paid.
We went to Masala library for our anniversary. We ordered traditional seekh kebab for starters and Nizami haleem and Rajasthani mutton curry(laal maas) which they very innovatively served with shell kachori for main course. The food was cooked well and was delicious.I really liked the Laal maas. The ambience was lovely and the service was good. Our server,Rotundo took really good care of us.She gave us complimentary dessert which was jalebi caviar pistachio rabri. It was quite interesting. She even gave us a chocolate mousse slice for our anniversary which was really sweet of her.Overall, the experience was good.
I absolutely loved this place. In terms of food, ambience and the staff!
I tried the tasting menu as recommend by the staff bot veg and nonveg. Amazing presentation and the menu is absolute stunner. Loved everything.
I highly recommend this place!!
What can I say about this perfectly set ambiance with a highly recommended food choices that will surely spoil your appetite and taste buds 😋 a well planned blend of taste and trend .. their cocktails are must try !! Not only that , it’s one of the very few places where you get “fever tree tonic water “ (low calories) ... amazing experience with a top notch service 👍🥂🍾👌
A newly open restaurant in JW Marriott, very impressive ambiance a combination of Red and Black is dominating.
Staff is very trained and service rated 5, so that its ambiance rated 5.
Mushroom Tea was served in tea cup, freshly brewed it was a soup.
Wagua Pather Kebab was delicious. It was glazed with Indian Masala and walnut creme.
Chicken Tikka was good
Rajasthani mutton curry with shell kachori was very good.
located at the JW Marriott Marquis this place has a class of it's own and as the name suggest as walking down the corridors of this restaurant gives a relaxing feeling of entering a calm & quiet place Wonderful ambience with artistic wall paintings and a huge seating space including the private seating / dining enclosures with colourful upholstery makes the place standout from the rest!
We had a unique experience of the Chef's tasting menu prepared with the masterpiece recipes created by the famous Jiggs Kalra
Among the starters we tried Wagyu Pathar Kebabs with walnut cream
Chicken Tikka prepared by three different recipes
Lamb Chops and Mango chutney
Malai Prawns & Pepproni cream
had a wonderful demo of mushroom chai. ...more of an appetizing soup and the refreshing berries mocktail
The main course we had included:
Scallops Mailee with potato puree and coconut sauce
Radhuni Toothfish
sides served included
Rajhdani Mutton Kachori thats a crispy shell lentil puff
Mutton Malai Daal
Nizami Haleem
the above served with especially prepared portions of freshly made parathas
All food had a lovely presentation
above dishes are a combination of Indian traditional food blended with a touch of modern recipes
Highly recommended for large groups dining in an artistically done Indian cuisine
Masala Library By Jiggs Kalra
Food n service 5* for both. Top notch service, the staff is very very friendly n deserve a shout out. They not only took care of our food n drinks., also pampered n took care of our kids. Served omelet for my little one on special request n entertained them too.
Now coming to food, everything tasted perfect with right flavours n taste. Aloo dum is a must must try, its the best I have ever had.So was the dal makhni.. I liked the main course more than the snacks n appetisers. Highly recommend this place!
One of the best and coziest place i've ever been to. Walking through the vicinity give me some traditional vibes and stuff. The staffs are friendly and very accommodating, explaining everything to us the food we ate. The food itself is very delicious and rich in flavor, they have vegetarian and non-vegetarian set menu which is very good. I will never forget their wagyu beef and those cute delish snack. Before I forgot to mention we sat in the corner with the bridge view and that is so romantic and lovely. This place is highly recommended!
An awesome experience! I did not expect this JW marriot to be so happening. Ofcourse, easy to locate, valet parking available, so no trouble getting there. Dim lit ambience gives a cozy warm feeling however, you may not be able to get that perfect picture of your food in all its glory. The service was extraordinary. We tried the veg sampling menu. It had things from deconstructed Samosa to deconstructed jalebis. Taste 5/5. In my main course I had bhindi, being my favorite vegetable, and I had never tried such a version if it, simply amazing. So having heard from friends of similar experiences, I expected to be fed one bite sized item at a time, with extremely long intervals. However, to my surprise, it was a perfect 5 course meal with 12 items. I'd recommend to all! It's a must try for everyone.
Had a great time @ Masala Library and tried their tasting menu.
The service was fab and the courses all came out in the right now. Special shout out to Arun, who was very informative and friendly!
The food here is good but some of the dishes were not to my personal liking the kadi risotto and the base of the bhindi were very sweet and I wish I had known earlier as wouldn’t have ordered these.
Would go back for the a la carte menu possibly!!
Great service, superb food, innovative. Will definitely be going back soon to try the rest of the menu. Love the wagyu beef achari (spicy) style.
Got a chance to dine at this place day before. Great interiors! Awesome Biryani, amazing selection of cocktails. My most favorite of all however is their butter chicken and menu! Great job guys and standing ovation for coming out with this concept here in Dubai!!!
We went to try out Kalra‘s new outlet in Dubai after having been to his Delhi library with our Indian friends.
We had the vegetarian and non-vegetarian menu. Our whole experience was outstanding - even for Dubai standards!
The hospitality and service was absolutely impeccable and as perfect as it gets, the food really amazing combining classic Indian dishes and tastes with new textures and amazing presentations!
Every plate that arrived was fantastic, the speed was not too fast or too slow, the portions well balanced so we could manage to eat all 12 courses.
The wagyu was one of the best non-vegetarian dishes.
Thumbs up, it does not get better than this and we will be back soon!!
great experience at the Masala Library! Very tasty Indian food with a twist ! Such fun staff also, ready to fulfil our every gastronomic wish . Many thanks - see you again soon !
Recently been to Masala Library by renowned Jiggs Kalra and quite impressed with this newly opened restaurant. This restaurant is located on 4th floor in J W Marriott Marquis Hotel. The interiors and ambience is quite bright and subtle. I love the orange and black Interiors combination. The staff is quite welcoming and courteous. We tried Vegetarian Chef's Tasting Set Menu which is priced at 215 AED. Started the whole new molecular journey with Amuse - Bouche which looked like real eggs. Not to worry it was just the presentation. We were served Deconstructed Samosas to start with. It was an open samosa and a whole new concept. Charcoal Bhajias were really yummy and crispy and also loved the Jhal Moori Cookie. By then i was totally impressed with the concept of Masala Library and their unique Presentation. Then comes Mushroom Chai. Honestly i was not so keen to even try that but believe me its one of the best Mushroom Soup i have ever had and that too in a Cup. I tried Corn khees popper and Bihari Daal Peetha and it was worth trying. Then we got palette cleanser Sorbet before our mains and it was as good as Kala Khatta Gola in a sorbet form. I loved it. For our mains we tried Malai Paneer and chonka mustard baingan with crispy favorite and then what i tried is my most favorite which is Gujarati Kadi Risotto served with khakra and multan moth dal. Simply mindblowing. One must try this and this is my best comfort food ever. We tried Jalebi Caviar for the desserts and just loved it. Crushed crispy jalebis with pistachio rabdi. Simply wow!!! Just loved the food and entire gastronomical journey with impressive presentation at Masala Library. #DeepikaLoves highly recommend this place. Next time i am going to try their A la carte menu.
Incredible experience in every way, Masala Library has to be on every one’s list of places to visit and quite likely, fall in love with. The restaurant is located centrally, at the Marriott Marquis, and easy to reach any day and at any time. The décor is beautiful, spacious and regal, high-ceilinged with massive opulent carved pillars, and with excellent views of the Business Bay creek and skyline. The walk to the main restaurant area works its way through plush and cosy private dining and sitting chambers and the bar, which has as good a collection of cocktails as you’d get anywhere. The service is excellent, the staff are polished, polite and very helpful. The restaurant, after impressing you with the décor, ambience, and staff, raises the bar so much that it would require a miracle for the food to be in the same realm or better. And that is precisely what the restaurant provides. We had the 12 course non-vegetarian tasting menu, an eclectic and creative set of dishes served one by one (paired with wines if you choose), and each effectively designed to impress royalty. Every dish was at least a few rungs above extremely delicious, with some (mushroom chai, caviar malai prawn, braised lamb chops, wagyu kebab, scallops) reaching insane levels. The price (AED 245) is laughable compared to what is pretty much a perfect dining experience.
Exceptional Service the food is amazing loved all the dishes special thanks to Chef Sadiya Khan and team as one of my friend tried Indian food for the first time and she loved it, Twist in taste#deconstruction of dishes#ambience@amazing Wazyu by Chef Gurender so tender and fabulous service by Ms. Rutendo and Ms. Gauri and Thank you all Kitchen Team.. ❤️🙏
Absolutely 5 star Food in a 5 star setting , hard to think of one thing I didn’t like . We tried their chef selection menu and everything on it is a must try . Perhaps the desserts in the end the deconstructed jalebi was the only thing that we didn’t enjoy as much everything including the service by our lovely server Gauri was spot on !
The soaring JW Marriot Marquis hotel in Dubai’s Business Bay has already become a dining institution in its own right thanks to an array of food and beverage outlets that include Thai specialty restaurant Tong Thai, the ever-popular Weslodge Saloon, Latin American hot spot Hotel Cartagena and trendy nightclub 1Oak. With restaurants spread throughout the vicinity of the five-star hotel’s two towers, the property is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to Dubai dining.
Last Saturday I had the absolute pleasure of dining at the much talked about Masala Library. Founded by culinary legend Jiggs Kalra who is fondly referred to as the Czar of Indian cuisine, my expectations were literally sky-high. Jiggs Kalra is a living Indian culinary legend who has penned. 11 books including ‘Prashad’ which is considered to be a chef’s bible for
Masala Library will hit you with all the aroma of spices, colours and flavours from India. For the best Indian fine dine Iftar this place is perfect. You can enjoy scrumptious Indian cuisine with a breathtaking sunset over looking Dubai water canal.
You can choose from non-veg or vegetarian options just for AED 230 per person. I choose NV and here is the glimpse of what I had.
Starters: I loved the way they have put all the best snacks of India in a single plate, in a mouth watering fashion.
🔅Palak patta mille feuille
🔅Curry leaves and pepper prawns
🔅Smoked tandoori lamb chop
Main: Most flavoursome and delectable Indian cuisine presented in a most exquisite way.
🔅 Tawa boti
🔅 Lahori chicken
🔅 Ghee roast lamb biryani
🔅 Dal makhani
🔅 Tadke wali dahi
Dessert: Kunafa and chenna nest topped with rabri and Ramadan juices 🙈

So get your reservation today and enjoy the Indian joy ride 😉 🇮🇳
I went few days ago to try the Iftar at Masala Library by Jiggs Kalra located on Level 4 at the JW Marriott Marquis. The Iftar Set Menu is priced at 230 dhs per person including Ramadan Juices. The service was top, our waiter Hosea made sure that we spend an amazing time at Masala Library. The food. was outstanding!
Loved the ambience of the place. Lighting & interiors very awesome. Excellent service. Yummilicious food. Good selection of beverages as well. Highly recommended.
Ambience - 5/5
Quality - 5/5
Quantity - 5/5
Service - 5/5
A friend of mine told me about this place. Later my husband. So I had to review it. Located in JW Marriott Marquis. This place has been replaced by another restaurant. The interior is so calm and relaxing. The staff is beyond friendly. They took care of us like a family. For iftar we had the date platter after which we were given a serving of date granola. It tasted divine. With softness of date and crunch of granola. I ordered non veg iftar menu while Omar veg. The starters were a platter with three different options. Spinach layered with sweet potatoe for both, lamb chop, curry leaf and pepper prawns, curry leaf and pepper asparagus, corn khees popper. The flavours of each item presented stood out. When the mains came I thought they were less but they were just a perfect quantity. Biryani both veg and non veg, daal makhni, lahori chicken masala, tawa boti, almond crusted water chestnut kofta. Amazing food cooked with heart and served with love. Thats what a customer want. Topped it up with kunafa.
The price of iftar per person is 230 which is worth everything.
As usual the best, loved the food and what an ambience. So nice to meet Zorawar Kalra. Keep it up Sir! This is gonna be huge hit after Mumbai and Delhi.
A lot has already been said about their much talked about 12 course tasting menu!!! I need not say more about how amazing and top notch it is.. it’s an out of the world culinary experience when it comes to flavours and presentation! Full marks to both.
But what’s worth mentioning is the extra attentive, courteous and friendly staff.. we were attended by Ms. Karuna! And I must mention here that she was a fabulous host! She was prompt in explaining the ingredients and origin of every dish and made sure we chose the right options as per our taste palate. Kudos to her we enjoyed our experience thoroughly here!
Moving to food, we had ordered a veg and a non-veg tasting menu! We also ordered their Masala Library Margarita which was out of this world again! Must try.. they have carefully segmented all their courses and all their dishes are so innovative and well thought about! The taste of each item was so unique and mind blowing that I may not be exaggerating if I say that it’s nothing that I have had before .. However I would like to mention that their appetisers/ snacks and desserts were much better and superior than their main course!
Ambience was equally good and royal to suit the lavish themed spread..
overall quit rationally priced and the entire experience is total value for money! Recommended for special occasions as I had been for my Anniversary celebration and it was totally worth the hype!!!
This is one of the best Indian restaurants in Dubai. They are so innovative in their cooking concept which sets them apart from other restaurants. The ambience is perfect for a family/friends dine out for special occasions. The staff is just so helpful and friendly suggesting different varieties of food. Overall I am super impressed with the food.
The first Iftar of the season and I was at the newly opened Masala Library at the JW Marriott Dubai.
The Iftar menu is definitely a lavish spread which is wholesome as well. We opened our fast with the amuse-bouche - the dates granola and a selection of the favorite Ramadan juices followed by the Mushroom Chai - a mushroom soup served with truffle. This one was irritable.
Then came the starter platter after a little break. This platter had three beautifully presented dishes, each very unique in its own way. There was the Palak Patta Mille Feuille, Curry leaf and Pepper prawn and a Tandoori lamb chop.
The palak patta mille feuille, an Indian version of the French pastry that has three layers of puff pastry alternating two layers with cream, this one has palak crisps alternated with sweet potato and topped with melon caviar, this one was brilliant ! A very South Indian culture, the curry leaf and pepper prawn was served with the thayir satham or curd rice. With a burst of flavors and extremely fresh prawns, this one was my fav. The succulent lamb chop served with a burhani dip is a meat lovers dream.
It was a relaxed Iftar, the mains were served after a little break again. There was the Tawa Boti, Lahori Chicken, Ghee Roast Lamb Biryani and Dal Makhni. The Tawa Boti was a huge chunk of meat and was extremely soft and tender. This and the Dal Makhni with the assorted breads were simply delicious ! The Lahori Chicken was served with a masala butter sauce. The chicken was very well marinated and the sauce added to the flavor. Biryani at any Indian restaurant is a treat, this Ghee Roast Lamb Biryani had some soft pieces of meat.
We ended the meal with an Arabic-Indian fusion dessert, the Kunafa and Chenna nest. Served with rabri - a sweet, condensed-milk-based dish, this was a perfect end to the meal.
When it comes to seeking molecular gastronomy in the Dubai food scene, Indian celebrity chefs seem to be doing a mind blowing job with their culinary art masterpieces. One such latest addition to the city’s fine dining concept is Masala Library by Jiggs Kalra, which is located on the 4th floor of JW Marriot Marquis. Chef Jiggs Kalra is popularly known as the “Taste Maker to the Indian Nation” and flawlessly combines the grandeur of centuries old Indian traditions with modern cooking techniques, presenting each dish with such uniqueness that you’re going to love the entire incomparable gastronomic experience while indulging in the authentic flavors at Masala Library. The venue itself is so gorgeous consisting of a premium dining space, a live kitchen that is concealed within floor-to-ceiling glass doors and highly professional staff at your service.
We tried the Chef’s Non-Veg Tasting menu that consisted of 12 beautifully crafted dishes, and equally delicious.
First to arrive on our table was Amush boushe – the date granola with which we commenced our Iftaar. We also had some soothing Mushroom Chai before moving towards the pretty starters that included Tandoori lamb chops glazed with chutney , Palak Patta, Curry leaves and pepper prawns. For the main course, we helped ourselves to the very aromatic Ghee Roast Lamb Biryani and the Lahori chicken which was perfectly juicy and bursting with delectable yet unique flavors. There was Daal Makhni too, and it tasted even better than it looked. Also, for those who prefer bread over rice, Masala Library serves a good selection of piping hot breads to go with the delightful curries. The starters and main course lived up to our appetite generously, a wonderful Iftar experience indeed; however it was the dessert that completely stole our heart. The beautiful Kunafa and chenna nest was the star of the show, so make sure you save some space for dessert while devoring the irresistible meal at Masala Library or else you’ll surely regret it later when your friends won’t stop raving about the sweet goodness.
Overall, the entire Masala Library experience turned out to be pretty lively and if you’re a fan of artistic Indian Cuisine, this is one place that you should definitely try out!
