Great place, food is wow, sushi is one of the best sushi in Dubai, stafff are great and friendly.
Had the lobster on the teppanyki table. It was simply divine. The staff are great. It's the perfect place to take a date or a colleague when you don't want anything to go wrong service wise and you want to impress them with great food.
This Jap joint saved my weekend!!! :-) Everything went south by the time I left home all the way from Abu Dhabi to go mall-strolling, and wind up watching a highly-anticipated movie which didn't really lived up to it's hype. 'Thought everything was ruined until I decided to drop by Crowne Plaza Sheik Zayed road. I was greeted with an ever-welcoming crew (I know for real coz it's probably my nth time eating there). And time and time again it never failed to make my day. Seafood feast at its best!!. I indulged to an array of selections a foodie can wish for. Their Maki's and Teppanyaki's are Legends. Im just overwhelmed with the service and the quality of food I had to share it!!. Sakura is still my fave food joint un Dubai and I won't stop visting there anytime soon!! :-)
The place where your family and friends will enjoy setting in teppanyaki table very much interesting chef is very talented showing some tricks the food is very tasty fresh service is fantastic staff is very friendly we enjoy our night.. we will definitely comeback
What a fabulous experience. We are from South Africa and were celebrating my son's birthday. The staff went out of their way to make the evening so enjoyable for us all - especially the birthday boy (man). The food was exceptional, our chef was entertaining , the hostess was so wonderful and it just was an all round wonderful evening. Thank you all!!
I love it the best place to have fun with friends and family yummy sushi and tasty dishes
#SakuraDxb is a place like no other, and also the place where you should go.! It's very accomodating, and staffs were also giving #1 service to their guests... Excellent food and service. The staff even remembers the favorite drinks i am ordering. The taste is consistent and fresh.
My all time favorite Japanese restaurant in Dubai! Amazing staff who's always smiling and truly make our dining moments memorable. Can't wait to be back soon!
Loved every bit of it. Specially the entertaining live cooking.
Hands down it is One of my favourite Japanese restaurant is #Sakura. Pleasant evening with a lot of drama but exactly where I like it, in the live cooking with no compromise on taste.
Entertaining live cooking and theatrics made the experience something to remember for.
My rating - 4.5/5
Cost for 2 - AED 700 of you go for love cooking and some sushi which again is to die for. This is one place every Japanese food lover must visit

If you've not visited Sakura for Teppanyaki Night on a Thursday, you're not starting your weekend well!
I had the opportunity to visit with a friend and it was one of the most enjoyable days this month, along with the delicious live cooked food.
The chef comes to your table of 9 (you will be sitting with other customers on the same table) and shows his cooking tricks and cooks everything from stratch - starters to main course. It was a lovely experience and worth the price paid.
For desserts, we had a choice of various flavors of ice cream. We chose Chocolate scoop which had a little spice to it that made it better.
Great service and lovely experience. It can get very loud with three live cooking stations / tables.
I'm craving for good sushi for too long and looking for this place for a long time. And now I finally found it! I was very satisfied. Superb! I love it so much!
Very decent #Teppanyaki. Good chef very entertaining. Staff are attentive without being intrusive. Friendly and Accommodating. Good value for Money. Will definitely come back and recommend to others to try.
Lovely dinner at Sakura with both my parents. Our teppanyaki chef was Hernandez. We ordered the steak, chicken and jumbo tiger prawns. We also ordered some tempura to start things off. Food was great, steak was done perfectly and the staff were incredibly friendly.
Visited with colleagues last week and was a fantastic place. Food was great and lively. Had food from live cooking station, enjoyed the experience truly.
What an amazing night!
The teppanyaki is a hoot, the chefs are fun and so creative with their food prep.
We ordered the salmon and scallops, I highly recommend this meal accompanied by a glass of wine.
The team are so friendly and welcoming. This is a great place for a relaxing dinner away from the hustle and bustle.
Very good food and lots of variety.. chef was very nice with good skills..Thank you Christa for warm welcome and great hospitality.Very humble and kind .He recommend us special drinks too. We will visit sakura again ...
You
Went last Thursday. And it was simply amazing. They have sushi buffet and other Japanese. Try to get a seat at the Teppanyaki table. Nothing beats the taste of fresh food out of the grill. And the chef show some out of the world cooking skill, with a great outcome ofc. Their seafoods are fresh and steaks will melt in your mouth. The staffs were very attentive, helpful, as well as friendly. Thank you for an amazing dining night.
Wanted to eat Japanese food , so went #Sakura in Crowne Plaza. The restaurant staff is very friendly. The napkin and chopsticks were kept very nicely on each table (couldn't resist to click 📸). We ordered tempura prawns, toriterriyaki, rice and tempura icecream. The food was awesome and tasty. Service was fast. Definitely will visit again.
Very hospitable staff- chef sandesh is a super star and the manager lei such a kind lady, despite our bad experience last week - the food the staff and the happy customers made it up - its an enjoyable place do visit Sakura————————————-
Such a let down- heard so Much of this place and the hospitality that I chose to have my specia day celebrated here - called the hotel for reservation got the confirmation and then its cancelled
Despite the fact the took down my details and my birthday still they couldn’t deliver
Never looking forward to this place
service was really good. attentive but not over friendly. booked the teppanyaki table and everyone esp my kids were entertained. the beef, giant prawns and scallops were all tasty. pork katsu curry was all good.
We went to visit crowne plaze for a brunch. I tried their makimonos and it was superb. I love how fresh their ingredients are and they have live cooking station aswell.
It's the second time we have visited this restaurant and is always a great place to eat.
Thanks to Lei and to Aaron for such amazing night. Delicious food and warm service!
The teppaniaky night was amazing yesterday.. the chef was delightful and the staff was cheerful thank u as well for the green tea 🍦 it was so fresh ♥️
Gooooooood sushi...simple clean and fresh...
It was a set menu with unlimited sushi, the only way to to eat sushi 😍
Started with the meso soup and a salad, off to the counter where the chef was making them fresh.. can’t remember how many servings I had.... no regrets 😎
O yea desert was ice cream.. guess i was already full 😁
We went for sushi night. The ambience is cosy. The service was exemplary. Quality of sushi was good. Although there wasn't any prawn/ ebi sushi included that night, our server and the chef were kind enough to provide some prawn tempura sushi for us. My husband and I love sushi and had chosen the place for a child free night out- this place did not disappoint. We will go back for teppanyaki!
I dont know why the hell i cannot tag it in Sofia bulgaria where i am now but at least same menu and same branche, its located inside Marinela hotel Sofia. ONE OF THE Finest hotel in eastern europe first time for me came under the advice of My brother. VERY must to visit it. Budget bit heavy BUT its really worth it.
This is an amazing place. We went to a tippenyaki night. The miso soup, salad and seafood was very fresh and tasty. Definitely recommend (had the tiger prawn and Hokkaido scallops tippenyaki). Service is also very good.
Fantastic and lively staff, who’s knife spinning skills leave you breathless. Value for money and child friendly we sat with our two year old who even tucked in to the food.
First time to eat in Sakura! It’s Sunday so unlimited Sushi and yes it’s 4* value for money, quality of food and service.
For AED 149 you will have:
Salad (green salad)
Miso soup
Sushi platter (mix of sashimi, nigiri, california role, philadelphia, spicy salmon role etc)
A choice of green tea or vanilla ice cream
1 large water
And the best part “order as much as you can eat”. For the sushi platter refill, you have an option to choose which one you like the best.
The Outlet Manager Lei is very nice, accommodating and she will give you all the information about their offers. I only have 1 suggestion, maybe for the ice cream they should put it in a smaller serving bowl because it is too big for 1 scoop of ice cream.
Apart from Sushi Unlimited they also have Izakaya nights and so many more!!!! It is worth coming back.❤️
Five star service, amazing food, visited often and every time it’s a memorable experience. Teppanyaki chef was amazing. Absolute value for money.
Crave for Hibachi or Teppenyaki ?
Now I have been wanting to go Sakura for quite sometime. Being very close to my home I wanted a place which go be my go to Teppanyaki/hibachi restaurant. Sakura did a great job ! They served us well. Took super good care of my allergies and the staff was excellent. Highly impressed by them. The food quality was superb and it was cooked extremely well. Usually teppenyaki restaurants are highly priced but this was done pretty reasonable if you take the all inclusive teppenyaki option with the Enbd discount. Also ask for chef sudeesh. He puts on a very entertaining show keeping us in splits while he cooked for 6 of us. All in all a great night out with family and friends. This is a lovely place for that special day or date. Highly recommended.
Was there for evening brunch. We were served soup, then some hot starters came, then sushi, sashimi and nigiri (fish was very fresh), and then chef was cooking in front of us fish and meat. Chef was great and it was kind of entertainment with really good food from him ( this part i loved the most :) ). The servers were friendly. It is a very nice quiet place where you can talk without music disturbing you, however i still think they should do something different with ambiance.
It was an absolute splendid experience. Hard to find a good teppanyaki restaurant anywhere, but so glad we found a perfect one in Dubai. They even have authentic, Japanese style, private rooms Great ambience, entertainment, food and friendly staff. Our Chef Aaron was such a cool, friendly person and entertained us well. Will definitely be coming more often.
I am a fan of Japanese teppanyaki. I was regular customer of Tokyo@tower, but unfortunately after that heaven was closed, I had to look for another place. I tried so many teppanyaki places in Dubai but after trying this place i became their regular customer.
The quality and quantity of their food worth its price. The chef Sandesh is my favorite.
The only thing i don’t like is the ambience of its interior which i prefer the food over it.
Nice Japanese experience in the heart of crown plaza, the iconic hotel on sheikh zayed road.
Wide options of maki rolls with good quality fish. Freshly served with great service.
I choose to celebrate my birthday dinner with Shortie last 2nd of January here in Sakura. I might made a mistake with my booking for open sushi/buffet as we both in love with sushi as I missed to check on the day. Thanks Heaven the Filipino staff who attended with us offered us a special sushi buffet with a very reasonable price. I love it plus the ice cream!! Salute to the crew!..
Sakura do a Teppanyaki night on Thursdays! It was a very good deal. Unlimited choices of seafood, meat and vegetables which is lively cooked with an entertaining Chef, the sauces are highlights. Beer and wines is included for the alcoholic package which is Aed 275( if i remember it right)
Staff were very professional, from taking the reservation until the end of your meal. Service was flawless.
Highly recommended.
A relaxing setting suitable for a nice quite date with your partner! My wife and I were really hungry and have been craving sushi for weeks so we decided to give this restaurant a go. We started off with Ebi Tempura which were nice because they were crispy and not oily! The salmon sashimi was just amazingly fresh so just a little dip in soya sauce and the freshness of the fish just melts in your mouth! We had the Moriawase Matsu which had nigiri, sashimi and maki rolls for both of us to try! You can tell that the ingredients they use are on a different level to most other sushi places in Dubai! Perfect portions of rice to fish, unlike some places where the taste of the fish gets lost in the mountains of rice they use to roll the sushi in. My favorite was the spicy tuna and spicy salmon as the chunks of raw fish we evident in every bite and the spicy mayo gave it a beautiful kick. As for the Nigiri, I liked them all but my favorite was the yellow tail as it just melts away in tour mouth! The eel was a little chewy so I must say I was disappointed.. The salmon sashimi and sushi were so good we ordered another plate of both! Miso soup and salad that came with our order of Teppanyaki were both lovely as the soup wasn’t as salty as other restaurants and the salad was crisp and the dressing just lovely! We first ordered the Hokkaido Scallops Teppanyaki but I was disappointed when they arrived over cooked. The texture was rubber like and tough which isn’t what I hoped for so when I told the waitress she offered to replace the dish and instead we got the Giant Prawns Teppanyaki dish! They were perfectly cooked and the sauces that came with them were lovely! A creamy pepper sauce, garlic mayo sauce and one that I think was a combination of fish sauce and soya. For dessert we had the banana Tsutsumi age(which came with the order of Teppanyaki) and ordered a portion of tempura ice cream. The banana dessert was lovely, crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside as the sweetness of the banana combined with red bean paste combination surprised me! The tempura ice cream was not as crispy as I hoped for but tasted nice nevertheless. The staff and Management there were just lovely and service was great and we would definitely return! It’s a little pricy but well worth the money!

Excellent service , tasty Tenpanyaki table! Good quality ingredients & a really cool chef for our table, Good range of drinks - esp the Sake!
Chilled out music and sushi combination is really cozy. The interior mocks Japanese wooden style but it does not go beyond “nice try” level. Teppanyaki seems to be the main dish of this restaurant. From the main elevator of the Crowne Plaza Dubai, this Sakura is accessible only by passing through the adjacent bar.
one of the besr places for live cooking station.
chiefs are very talented.
food is very delicious (beef, chicken and seafood) all were amazing.
big thanks to the manager for visiting out tables many times to ensure our satisfaction.
This place was on my list for quite a while and it was really good! I love the aesthetic of the place so calm and peaceful with soothing Japanese Folk songs playing set the ambience perfectly!
The food is great and plus most of the dishes they offer are big in terms of quantity!
Staff were ever so friendly and courteous!
Overall I enjoyed my visit and recommend you to visit as well!

Sakura is the Japanese restaurant located on the fourth floor of Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dubai. It offers traditional live teppanyaki tables, a sushi bar, and private Tatami rooms. In my opinion, the whole restaurant feels like an authentic place in Japan. As soon as you enter, you will see the main dining area and the teppanyaki tables. I like this area the most because this is where literally all the action takes place.

Went for dinner, overall was good.
Sushi and sashimi were fresh and delicious.
Also had teppanyaki which made our dinner fun and engaging.
Recommended to try
We love the food here and the staff are always so warm and welcoming. I am a regular at Sakura and Ms Lei always takes care of us ensuring the food and service is always at it's best and that the family leaves with a positive experience.
We always have an enjoyable time with the live teppanyaki cooking station and the chef always add a personal touch with humor! "I love you" art was created using rice and vegetable as I was with my husband...So sweet!
Thank you Ms Lei for your warm hospitality.
Our personal favorite is the sushi buffet and the life teppanyaki. The sashimi is one of the best!
Highly recommended and great prices too
With the number of Asian and East Asian culinary options on offer in Dubai, it’s an easy choice and one that is really satisfying. Japanese cuisine is something that stands out in the top list of many food lovers when it comes to Oriental cuisine. Well, why not! With Japanese cuisine being so unique and distinct in taste and style compared to many other types of Asian cuisine, it’s quite natural.

My family and I spent a night in Crowne Plaza and had our dinner at Sakura, a casual dining restaurant located at Crowne Plaza along Shiek Zayed road that gives us a genuine Japanese experience in Dubai. It has a very nice ambiance, a relaxing mood, fascinating eastern inspired interiors and very accommodating staffs. For just an average of 300 Dhs. for two persons, you can enjoy varieties of authentic Japanese dishes.
Upon entering, I already felt a very welcoming vibes, we sat alongside with friendly Scottish guests for the teppanyaki (a style of Japanese cuisine that uses an iron griddle to cook food. The word teppanyaki is derived from teppan (鉄板), which means iron plate, and yaki (焼き), which means grilled, broiled, or pan-fried.) At first, they served us miso soup with tofu and a bowl of vegetable salad as appetizers. Next are servings of sashimi, sushi and tempura, the waitress also served me a glass of white wine and a bottle of Heineken beer for my father. After that, the teppanyaki chef showed up and introduced to us the different dishes that he's going to serve that night for the main course. He presented salmons, prawns, chickens, and steaks. The chef was really skilled to his field, he entertained us specially my younger brother by showing some exhibitions while cooking. That was very fun and so satisfying.
Finally, it's time for the dessert. From the teppanyaki table we are being transferred to a very nice washitsu (和室), ("Japanese-style room(s)", and frequently called in English a "tatami room", a Japanese term used to describe a room in a house or apartment that has traditional tatami flooring. It usually have sliding doors (fusuma), rather than hinged doors between rooms. They may have shōji and, if the particular room is meant to serve as a reception room for guests, it may have a tokonoma (alcove for decorative items). In that point of time, we worn kimono (a traditional Japanese garment) to make most of the whole thing, to feel the Japanese vibes as it is. They served us a very delicious macha (powdered green tea leaves, dissolved in hot water to make tea or used as a flavoring) iced cream and it ends our fantastic experience in Sakura.
Sakura; a fine Japanese restaurant hidden in the office block of Crowne Plaza, impossible to spot from the outside, but you can't have spent much time in the area without stumbling across their buffets or scrolling past its listing on Zomato. We visited and dined a-la-carte; ordered a sea bass tepinyaki which came with a delicious salad, miso soup and dessert too and a platter of Sushi, sahimi and nigiri (22 pieces) including California rolls, salmon, tuna, squid with cuttlefish roe, crab and eel. All the seafood was delicious, every morsel, every roll. The sea bass came with rice and an assortment of sauces, and for dessert a petit plate of greet tea ice-cream with fired banana. Absolutely delicious! When dining at Sakura, the quality of the ingredients and freshness of the seafood is evident, you can get Japanese food cheaper elsewhere but you know what you're paying for the moment that tender sliver of seafood makes contact with your tongue. Service was good, parking; not so easy to come by. The ambiance is excellent. Mineral water is overpriced as is the norm in 5 stars.
Upon arrival, we were settled at the dining area with an array of unlimited appetizers to begin with. They do have sashimi, sushi, maki tempura and even grilled prawns and chicken. Our eyes went wild as we "slowly" had our starters.
The fresh salmon sashimi is a must! The California maki with a cream cheese was a delight. And oh, did I mention that the tempura's prawn simply melts in your mouth?!
The highlight was the TEPPANYAKI. I personally loved the beef and chicken with its own home-made specialty. What was more entertaining was the chef talking to the guests while cooking. There was a crack of laughter that filled the room, I guess that's called social interaction. LOL. So if you want to experience this, you can tell them OR you can choose to stay at the other side of the room.
As if these weren't enough, we still made sure to leave a room for desserts! They have a table filled with matcha/green tea cakes and cupcakes, lemon zest-flavored puddings, green tea ice cream and more! Since I love matcha, I opted for that and it wasn't a disappointment.
I highly recommend SAKURA Restaurant for people who are looking for authentic Japanese dining. I would also prefer to bring a large group here specially for "teppanyaki" because I am sure everyone will enjoy.

My review of Sakura - this restaurant was able to satisfy my Japanese cuisine cravings as this place offers outstanding and authentic Japanese dishes. Here at Sakura, you are able to enjoy your dinner at the live cooking teppanyaki stations, or enjoy a buffet sushi bar styled dinner for their Izakaya night. Of course, there is the option to just enjoy a regular Japanese meal as well and order from the a la carte menu.
I loved every single dish that I ordered for dinner. I actually have no negative experiences with any of them and it's safe to say that this is now my top Japanese restaurant in Dubai to head to.
Not only did I order things off the menu, I was able to get items from the sushi bar for the Izakaya night, which consisted of a mini buffet style sushi bar, hot foods, and dessert, that Sakura was offering for one of their theme nights.
The dobin moshi soup was absolutely delicious and I now prefer this over the miso soup. This soup had so much seafood in it, such as salmon and shrimp and the broth was tasty. I loved the presentation as well, it was presented inside a teapot with tea cups.
The maguro salad was one of my favourites tonight, the maguro was so fresh and the same goes for the avocado and arugula salad. I loved how there was a lot of colour to this dish and the dressing tied all of the flavours together perfectly.
My top favourite dish was the shake kani salad. This was a creamy salmon salad dish and it was just mind-blowing for flavour and presentation. I thought that the salmon was fresh and the added tobiko gave the salad more crunch and texture. It was just an absolutely beautiful dish.
Finally, I want to mention the amazing dragon roll that I had. This roll consisted of shrimp tempura, eel, and avocado with fish roe or what I like to call it - tobiko. This roll was presented like a dragon and the roll was tasty for sure. I loved the grilled eel with the avocado, it was such a wonderful combination.
This restaurant deserves a rating of 5/5.
I ordered the dobin moshi soup for 47DHS, maguro salad for 64DHS, shake kani salad for 60DHS, ebi tempura for 79DHS, chirashi don for 109DHS, 6 pieces tuna sashimi for 44DHS, 6 pieces salmon sashimi for 44DHS, 6 pieces octopus sashimi for 40DHS, and the dragon roll for 72DHS.
The pricing of the dishes here are normal for authentic Japanese cuisine.
The service that I recieved here was excellent with our server being very attentive and was well trained. The manager was also so friendly who made sure our dinner experience was going perfectly. The food and beverages came out at a good pace.
The ambience was inviting with great Japanese decor all around. There are three seating sections in the restaurant - a teppanyaki area where chefs perform a cooking show, private tatami rooms area where up to 16 people can be seated and you are able to wear the kimonos to feel like you are dining in Japan, and a regular dining area for those who just want a regular Japanese dinner. This restaurant is located inside the Crowne Plaza hotel on Sheikh Zayed road.
Sakura has friendly and warm servers and ambiance is nice. Often it's not very crowded so you get extra attention. The sushi and sashimi is good but their tepinyaki is the key item.
Was there last thrusday for dinner. Amazing teppanyaki! Thank you Lei and her staff for a wonderful dinner and for arranging the birthday cake! Until next time
Great night with live cooking show from our chef Aaron! Service, food and ambience were amazing! You'll get as a menu sushi, sashimi, dumplings, live cooking of beef, seafood, fried rice, chicken and vegetables, dessert buffet and unlimited drinks for aed350. Amazing deal!
a dimly little place with a very nice and perfect ambience that will surely make you feel being transported to japan at the moment.. and upon your arrival, the friendly manager will surely greet you up with a smile. i can say small team but very attentive with all their guest needs, this place offers good food with a good value for money surely i would love to come back soon.
It was an amazing experience in Sakura in Crowne Plaza. I Really I love it. Fresh taste. Sashimi melts in your mouth and the Cherry Blossom Maki was very a pleasant surprise. Can't complain about the service , the small team including the manager was genuinely attentive. Could do better on the decor but it will not deter me from coming back soon!I
"Spectacular night"
This more than just dinning,as you seat in this place the vibe bring back to other dimension, the set up of restaurant has amaze your visual as you step in,and you can pick it up selected kimono and yukata to wear in as dress Japanese code inside restaurant, talk about food will unbeatable with other big brand they will made exactly same as you requested from the soup, dumpling till steak beef will delightful taste...thanks we will be back soon enough!!
Spontaneous decided to have some Sushi and found Sakura.
Basic Japanese starters (we had salads and Miso)
The rolls and nigiri were okay.
The wine by the glass was random Australian one, nothing special.
Good place for a random dinner but wouldn't come here for a spacial occasion.
Decided to grab some Japanese food for dinner paired with some wine and sake this last weekend. It was the four of us with an appetite for eight!
Being the last weekend of the year, I wanted to use as many entertainer vouchers as I possibly could and we decided to start off with some sake, beers and spicy edamame whilst deciding on mains.
The spicy sauce was a 50 50 as two of us enjoyed the flavor and two of us didn't, but all four of us complained about the size of the beans as each pod was tiny with two beans in one.
We ordered a sushi platter of 8 maki and 9 sashimi pieces along with two portions of chicken and one portion of sea bass for the live teppenyaki grill with a side of fried rice and udon noodles.
Once the sushi platter got around to us, we ordered a bottle of red and a bottle of white wine to wash our food down.
The California rolls were tasty along with the delicious squid and salmon but the tuna was nothing to write home about. We decided to order two more orders of the sushi platters after inhaling the first platter because the portion was not big enough for 4 people to get one piece to even taste the first platter. This time around we asked them to replace the tuna with extra salmon. Second time around, the husband and I shared one platter and my brother and brother in law shared another platter to our hearts content.
After a small break began our teppentaki experience and that I have to say earned another visit to Sakura for some more delicious live grills.
Our chef was so friendly and talented and it was such a pleasure watching him from the other side that he made us so welcomed and drawn by him that none of us realized the time; we were the last diners and were overstaying our visit but no one dared to complain or rush us and in turn extended their closing hours to us.
The chef was like magic and the food was perfect to all of our tastes and was some of the tastiest teppenyaki I've had in a long time!
After our heavy but delicious and worthwhile meal, we moved on to Oscar's, our favorite and friendly wine bar next door to complete the night on the high note it started.
Crown Plaza is a pretty old hotel located in SZR, and is usually underestimated for the restaurants that they have, as most of them are tucked away in other levels of the hotel, which is usually worth the efforts of finding them.
Let's take Sakura as an example. You will need to pass by Oscar's Vine Society to get through to the Japanese restaurant. It was empty when we arrived for dinner, so had the option to either sit at the traditional live teppanyaki tables, the sushi bar, or the tables.
We were greeted by a friendly staff, and we choose to sit at the table so that we can enjoy a private dinner.
We ordered the following, and have to say that each one of them complimented the other. Loved the taste, the freshness and colorfulness of the dishes.
* Salmon crab & avocado salad toasted in spicy Japanese mayonnaise
* Gyoza - Chicken & beef dumplings with dipping sauce
* Sakura Bento - salmon teriyaki, California maki, assorted tempura, rice & vegetable salad served with miso soup and assorted fruits.
* Moriawase Matsu - Assorted maki, nigiri & sashimi (California, spicy tuna maki, salmon, crabstick, tuna, eel, squid nigiri & tuna, salmon & yellowtail tuna sashimi)
Recommended place for good Japanese food, in one of the most buzzing placed in Dubai. Great for gatherings as well.
Well, visiting this place was my surprise dinner and I never heard of this place before.
The reason this place was chosen is Tepanyaki counter. We were sat right in the middle in front of chef so we can see and enjoy everything.
Before the show we have eaten from Japanese buffet where we had some salads, sushi and some other cooked seafood.
Tapanyaki show was amazing experiences for me. Our Chef was playing, throwing and cooking at the same time :D
Located in one of the oldest hotels in Dubai, Sakura offers diners an enjoyable dinner experience be it whether you spend time in their tatami tea room, at the raw sushi bar or at one of their interactive teppanyaki stations. Upon arrival of the Kitchens of Dubai event, we are greeted with a welcome drink. As we choose a table to sit at we notice the attention to detail starting with the black napkins folded neatly into a jacket and the classy pearl sea shell holding our weighted chopsticks.
A week ago, my sister posted this absolutely stunning image of the cherry blossom trees, in full bloom at the International Pacific University in my hometown of Palmerston North, New Zealand. The annual Sakura Festival is one of the most anticipated events on the calendars of the Japanese migrant community of New Zealand. Being Down Under, the cherry blossoms come to bloom there in early September, but in Japan it takes place between March and May.
Sakura not only serves Japanese cuisine but would also take you on a journey that showcases Japanese culture. We got to experience it all on a Friday afternoon at an event organized by Kitchens of Dubai and Crown Plaza. ‘Sakura’ is a Japanese word for cherry blossom, which blooms across Japan between March and May each year...Full review on BLOG!

I'm a sucker for live entertainment, so as soon as I saw a live-cooking station, I knew I was in for a good ride!
The food, the service, the interiors, all great. But nothing compared to the awesomeness of watching a professional chef cook your food with large blazes of fire right before your eyes. That alongside some amazing knives tricks, and I was completely memorized! I almost forgot I was in a restaurant, I honestly felt like I'm at a theater!
Amazing food and amazing experience! I highly recommend it!
We went for Sakura’s Izakaya dinner. It was my friend’s treat. This place has a good reputation so I was eager for this visit. I looked at the place from three perspectives – ambiance, food selection and quality and service orientation.
I walked in to the place empty except for one table that was occupied. Perhaps because it was a Sunday night. I wished there were more people since it helps create a livelier atmosphere. Unfortunately, that was missing last night. The atmosphere was quiet and sullen. The place did not exude that Japanese vibe despite the interiors and staff uniforms being on theme.
The food selection was quite limited. For its price point, I expected it to have a spread comparable to other hotel buffets. Having said that, I had to remind myself that this is “izakaya” dinner which is the Japanese version of British gastropub. From that perspective, the food selection was good. Quality-wise, the ingredients were fresh and the dishes tasty. I started off with cold starter. The rolls were delicious and the sashimi was excellent. Then I went for the hot appetizers. The skewers were good but I liked the prawns more than the beef. The chicken teriyaki was of high standard. It was, however, the salmon belly that stood out; it was on a league of its own. It was juicy with a semi-sweet flavor. I loved this dish. Afterwards we were served with a plate of mixed tempura – all were crisp to perfection. The prawns were lightly battered and flavorful while the pumpkin were soft and sweet. Then came the teppanyaki which was cooked in front of us. Again, using only the freshest ingredients. The fried rice, mixed seafood, chicken and beef were all tasty, although I thought the chef could have added more salt to bring out the flavors more. Nevertheless, my friend who is on a low salt diet liked it a lot. Lastly, the sweets. You should not miss the brûlée trio. The original and chocolate in particular were heavenly.
The good food here was surpassed only by excellent service. Sakura has the most amazing staffs – amiable, attentive and always anticipating your needs. They made us feel well looked after and made our dinner an amazing experience. Special thanks to the Sakura team!

We went last Friday for Izakaya Night and it was simply amazing. They have a good selection at the sushi buffet and an array of other sumptuous Japanese dishes too. The teppanyaki was to die for! The steak teppanyaki melts in your mouth like a savoury piece of heaven. The service was outstanding as well. We were well looked after by our waiter and the Teppanyaki chef was hilarious and made a good show. Best value for money! Will definitely come back :)
It was a real great experience in Sakura. The live cooking was something first time. Been there around 6years ago. It's an experience. I tried fried rice and quantity wise it was very low. But tasted good.
The first tym I tried Japanese food... It was a delightful experience.. The salmon fried.. The crab avacado salad... The sushi...caterpillar sushi.. Prawn sushi the flavour was refreshing and light meal.. The rice cakes were good as well...
Have frequented here on several occasions.. food is always on par, have sat at the teppan table (cooking table) as well as basic dining.. food is served on a very hot skillet to give you a similar experience as the table..only downside is price..with entertainer voucher and no alcohol bill was 360 for 2.
