I was very intrigued to try this place having heard mixed reviews about this place. If I understand correctly, you either like this place or you hate it lol
Their buffet is almost half the price of other buffets in Dubai… what is the deal ? what is their secret ?
We decided to give this place a go on a weekday dinner time, the place was rather empty, but the hostess was very efficient and welcoming she introduced us to the place and different food stations and helped us pick a table. The view is not so much something you will look forward to, its just a view of srz from the 4th or 6th floor .. cant recall the floor. The decor is very trendy and modern, I kinda liked it ! The seating is nice too, very comfy, very private, you can sit near the buffet or a bit away.
The service is average, communication was a bit of a problem, as we had a trainee as waitress, everyone has to learn and start somewhere so no probs, its alllll good.
The food selection …. I know that is the main thing people wanna know about… The food selection, as it was international night and a weekday, the selection was very limited (there I said it), compared to other buffet. The starters were salads and veggies, mix salads for example beetroot salad, zucchini salad, humus, potato salad. They had a bread counter with all sorts of very cute very tempting fresh breads, with cheese, a selection of 2 cheese cheddar and brie.
The main courses were grilled salmon, roasted lamb, roasted potatoes, grilled chicken, fried rice, pizza and few rolls and crispy samosas.
The desserts, were the usual mini tarts and pastries, custards… fruits and chocolate sauce AND warm dark chocolate fondant.. yes the gooey sticky dark chocolate one.
The juices included in the 'non alcoholic' package are ready made juices from a box, which our waitress explained very honestly, much appreciated.
So to answer your question, is it worth it ? Not so much. If you use an entertainer it is worth it, if you pay full price, I don't think it is worth the 120dhs per person (on weekday nights).
It is pretty straightforward, the price is half the price of other buffet because they cut down on some stuff, which is not a big deal, when you pay a lower price you cant expect it to match the quantity and quality of other full range priced places. Simple.
Where I feel they could improve is, the labeling of the food, there were no indication in veg non veg or beef not beef, which is key for a buffet. Usually you can find a name under each dish, it would be easier if they had a small sign that would specify .. for example their potato salad had bacon mixed, should specify non veg, some places do put that small green leaf which is the 'universal' sign for veg. The service was a bit absent. Their starters were ALL covered with raw onion, I feel in a buffet few items have to be toned down or kept aside for everyone to add as much as they want. Here all the mix salads had raw onion, so they all tasted the same… Not everyone likes raw onions.. I dont. So that was one very bad thing.
Now I can't complain on the quality of the food it was very decent, good, but as there was not much crowd at the time we were dinning, obviously the items became a bit dry or soggy, nothing you can do about. The roasted potato were not cooked properly they were crunchy raw…. big mistake if you can't cook your potatoes properly, means the chef has not tasted them before serving, specially if they are kept in a heating display, they should be softer all the more.
Overall there was an overload of raw onions and chunks of garlic in the dishes… again these items should be toned down in a buffet.
I must admit, they had very few veg items in the mains, beside pizza and grilled veggies.
The desserts were really good, very fresh, show stopper was of course the dark choco fondant, first time I am seeing it served in a heating display on a buffet. The creme brule was very good, profiterole surprising. Overall nice selection of desserts.
The ambience is very private and dimmed in the night, nice for a date night or quiet dinner.
Conclusion : Overall, it is a 'low cost' buffet and I mean it in all the nice ways. It is affordable and even more with the entertainers, service is decent, they have a limited variety of items, understandable due to the price. I would not recommend it if you are paying full price and expecting a full range buffet. If you are looking for a small affordable buffet, this is the place to go. They have different themes everyday, so if your looking for an affordable quiet lunch or dinner.
