Sadaf is a household name for Iranian cuisine. They serve the juiciest chullu kebabs with flavored rice. I love the simplicity of Iranian cuisine. Its very healthy and filling. Our client order it for us whenever we visit them. The accompanying assortments like raita, sauce and salad are just amazing. A highly recommended place if you are looking for authentic Iranian flavors!!

Just a small suggestion for the restaurant: Please put some dried pomegranate bits in your rice servings. It will be a treat for any food lover.

Been here before with my Iranian aunt long back, but my they have upgraded the place to a different level and so are the prices. ;) it seems to be a place favored by the locals as I saw a lot of them with their families. My order was Joojeh masti, garlic yoghurt and it was served with complimentary rice and lentil soup and breads. Everything from food to ambiance and service met the standards though the location could be better.

I have been here thrice, and the buffet has always been good! I simply love love love the way they make Umm Ali (A sweetened pastry dish baked with nuts and soaked in milk) it's so heavenly and warm. Gives you the comfort dessert vibes.

Their main courses are equally amazing as everything else they serve. They have authentic Arabic, Middle Eastern, Italian, Persian cuisine and much more.

The ambience is very warm and nestled. Customer service is good and so are the staff.

I've always had a great time dining at Sadaf.

Had the afternoon lunch buffet with a client and I was pleasantly surprised with the spread on offer. A true Persian gem that I have missed for long.

Location- 4/5 located on the roadside of Al Maktoum road, you cannot miss it. Some confusion can be had once inside the shop complex to locate the restaurant entrance.

Service - 5/5 staff immediately attend to you as soon as you enter the restaurant. Even during our lunch, they were very attentive to our beck and call. Everything was served promptly.

Food quality - 5/5 an amazing spread from starters to main courses giving you a true taste of Persian cuisine. Everything was a delight to taste and experience. The chef was present to explain any doubts with your food. Presentation was top notch with servers ready to attend to anything you need.

Ambience - 5/5 traditional but classy. Huge tables and small tables of every type catering to a huge family gathering down to a small quiet business lunch.

Price: 5/5 90 dhs for this huge variety of food is a steal in itself.

This was an absolutely delightful find. Persian cuisine was an eye opener in the way they cook food and the many variations. Vegetarians might find the buffet extremely challenging as there are very less options. Otherwise, this place will be very hard to let you down.

A friend took me there and it was a beautiful surprise. On Makthoum road, a very old fashioned Persian restaurant with delicious food. You enter through a kind of old mall, on the first floor and you are welcome by super formal decor, staff and I felt back in the 60s in Teheran, even if I have never been there and I was not born in those years. The uniform of the staff is both cute and funny yet formal. He ordered for me soup of the day and I loved it. As I love chicken, he ordered for me Joojeh Kabab bi ostokhan ( boneless) served with their delicious rice. Apparently they marinated for veery long hours and this is why is so tender and juicy.

Sadaf is located on the second floor of the Riqqa Al Buteen Plaza and what is impressive is that they have the entire second floor to themselves. The floor usually holds between 8 retailers, judging from the number of shops on the first floor so Sadaf is definitely capable of holding a large gather, perhaps weddings and an anniversary get together.

For Authentic Persian delicacy do step over here , they have been in this business from very long since my childhood have seen Sadaf in Deira.

A well managed clean and neat eatery they have an Iranian sweets and dry fruits store down and the restaurant is one level up . Decent ambience and very friendly staff.

We went for their Iftar buffet which is charged at Aed 84 dhs and for that price it's a decent option for Iranian food because similar Iranian restaurants buffets are 100 plus.

We were welcomed with sweet greetings and made us settled , they got dates and jallab to table when it was time for Iftar called us to take the buffet , it was kind a crowded with queue felt they could have better managed by keeping buffet options at both the ends ....or may be in middle.

The Arabic rice with mutton which was another version of oozi was cooked to perfection , well cooked mutton and flavorful rice , then the traditional Iranian rice, kibbeh in Laban, the mutton biriyani, the veg dishes and all kabaabs were yum specially the kubeideh..... What could have been better was there snacks samboosa and few other fired snacks they had which wasn't great at all.

The salads were the normal Arabic salad.

The desserts were also just average umm Ali,custard, muhlabia few other Arabic desserts , the pastry cakes were dry kind and kids loved the jelly it was a three layered jelly .

one thing which I could suggest was for kids they just had option of French fries some other nuggets or pasta could have been better too.

How could I miss mentioning the fried rice and chicken chilly they were tasty .

A decent Iftar option worth with apt quantity of food served with quality .

The staff were very kids friendly too assisting us with tea and drinks. Changing our cutlery and cleaning up the table also fresh bread from their oven was being served on table.

When most of the Iftar buffets in new Dubai arena are 150 plus this is best a option in old Dubai which can be categorized as a budget friendly yet scrumptious buffet .

The best part is they have valet service and also prayer facility too.

Excellent place for a delicious Iranian Meal.

Sadaf @ Rigga has been around for ages, and my family has frequented this place for years. The quality has stayed consistent over time whilst the prices have risen, if only to reflect inflation. Main Course Items range around the AED50 mark.

The Kabab Koubideh is my all time favorite. Delicious, juicy, tender minced meat perfectly complimented by the thin bread and Persian style hammus.

Sadaf in Al Rigga is a regular go-to place for me when ordering a delivery.

There is something ever-satisfying about indulging in an Iranian grill, accompanied by perfectly cooked rice and a soon-to-be-satiated appetite

This time around we went for the classic koobideh kebab, a succulent minced meat kebab with just the right amount of fat and seasoning, accompanied by rice, and a 'kebab Majelsi' which has one skewer of koobideh, and a skewer of alternate chicken/meat pieces.

The items arrived within half an hour, at a great temperature and with Sadaf's typical consistency. Of course this isn't the first time I've ordered from here and with an Iranian-craving being a commonplace occurrence, it won't be the last.

The koobideh is very consistent here, with a great texture and flavour and goes perfectly with the rice or Iranian bread (comes included). They also deliver strained/seasoned yoghurt that goes perfectly with the rice, and of course as with most Iranian restaurants you get the obligatory grilled tomato :)

One thing I do like to request with my rice is Zereshk, which normally comes in another dish. Zereshk is a dried berry that adds a delightful sourness to rice/grills with just a hint of sweetness (you can identify it from the photos). It's the proverbial icing for me and I recommend trying it.

The koobideh will always be something I order from here, as it is one of the better ones in Dubai. I found the chicken/meat skewer in the Majelsi dish tasty, but the impact on flavour from the chicken to the meat and vice versa makes it inferior to a standalone chicken or meat skewer.

Value-wise it is decent with most main dishes varying just north or south of the 50 AED mark.

Sadaf is an old Persian restaurant located in Al Rigga and stands as a seasoned veteran in The scene when it comes to Iranian cuisine. They have one of the best Iranian and middle eastern buffet available and I highly recommend it to those who may be looking to bring in some friends or family to taste a bit of tradition and how the old Dubai used to do it. They're nothing complicated and for the price I would say it's definitely worth it.

Sadaf is one of the oldest Persian Iranian restaurants in Dubai along with Pars , Abshar and a few more… Sadaf generally has been a bit more expensive compared other Persian restaurants among the old ones and a meal for two can easily touch close to AED 150 – 200. The best way to enjoy the variety of dishes at Sadaf has been the buffet.

The Branch at Rigga has always been one of their best outlets also the busiest and since the customers to this outlet has been repeat visitors from years, the food quality has never been bad here and the standards of service has always been high too (Free Valet parking too !!). For those looking to indulge in a complete Persian cuisine this is the best place to begin with or for those who are already familiar with the food this can be the next step with some rare dishes to be discovered.

Recently I had tried out the Iftar buffet here and it has been brilliant a few of my friends who has visited both the Rigga branch and SZR swears by the quality and service at the Rigga branch.

The Buffet starts off with Ash-e-reshteh soup, which is a thick legume based soup and is brilliant, the common lentil soup is present as well, the salads are the usual Arabic variety with a few fried items like Falafels, Sambosa and the others. The salad choices (Arabic) are plenty and makes for an initial serving, the mains kick off with the famous zereshk polow along with kofta curry dish, lamb kebabs, chicken kebabs, grilled veal cubes and spicy chicken which is almost like chicken lollipops but with a more Persian twist. The spicy chicken dish is very different from the Indian or Arabic curries, but seems to be somewhere right in between with the spiciness and the Arabic flavorings. The Harees is really light infact almost soupy in form but very high on flavor. The lamb kebabs and the veal cubes are brilliant. The mutton beryani is good too.

The dishes here does taste a bit Indian than Persian at times not sure if its due to some Indian Chefs in the Kitchen as some of the dishes taste quiet different than from Pars or Iran zamin next door, dishes seems to be more spicy and curry like. The lamb tongue is another dish that many seemed to avoid at the buffet but is really worth a try and has a unique flavor. The main highlight has to be the Lamb Ouzi, guests seem to go for it directly by skipping other things in the buffet, and the meat is brilliant ,the rice flavorful. This alone is worth trying out this buffet; the Ouzi can rival some of the best ones I have had around. There is a Kabuli polaw too in the buffet a bit different from the Ouzi rice this has its own distinctiveness.

Am sure I have still missed out some of the dishes, but this definitely has to be one of the best iftar buffets in town. For meat lovers it would be perfect, vegetarian’s better stay away. The sweets section a bit of letdown, its just the basics of jelly, umm ali and a few sweets from the adjacent sweet shop by them. Considering that they have a large collection of brilliant sweets next door, they could have definitely done much better in terms of sweets and made this into one of the best buffets in town.

Highly recommended, if you’re planning to try out a lavish buffet but not planning to pay 5 star rates but expect good quality then Sadaf Is a must.
