(التعليق الأصلي) First thing you should know is they make you take off your shoes at the restaurants entrance. This is a very quiet restaurant and the food is cooked to perfection. It’s definitely an experience and an expensive restaurant.

(تمت الترجمة بواسطة Google.) كان لدينا مجموعة الواغيو كايسيكي الخاصة بهم وقد أحببناها كثيرًا! كان لحم البقر الياباني جيدًا جدًا ويذوب في فمك. إنه قليل من ناحية الثمن ولكنه يستحق ذلك تمامًا (التعليق الأصلي) We had their wagyu kaiseki set and we loveeeeed it so much! Japanese beef were so good and just melt in your mouth. It is abit on the pricey side but absolutely worth it 💕

Absolutely loved the place It’s my first time in dubai and I went there my second day for my bday dinner Without a doubt one of the best Japanese restaurants I’ve been to! And I travel just to go eat but long story short, if you’re ever in dubai and near opera make sure to make you’re reservations

One of the best meals I have ever had in Dubai. The fish was fresh and cut wonderfully. The meat is incredible (highly recommend the Wagyu Nigiri). The staff is super friendly and hospitable. Can’t wait to go again!

No Japanese restaurant in the GCC comes even close to how Good Kohantei is.

If you want PROPER Japanese food with no concessions then this place is right for you.

Even more adequate if you've been to Japan a few times and haven't been able to find anything close to the quality of Japanese food in the GCC.

This place is as authentic and obsessively focused on quality as a proper Japanese restaurant.

First I would like to say that this place brought me back to my visit in Tokyo, it felt so authentic, especially with all the staff being Japanese.
The service was amazing and everyone was very kind and helpful with any questions we had.
It’s my 2nd visit here and I can pretty much say everything was good on the menu. I’ve never had a steak as good as here, literally melt in your mouth. The only thing is that it is pricey but so worth it.

We dined there last night before going to the opera.
We had to pre order our set menu earlier the same day, we selected the Sakura menu, 6 courses for Aed 430 each.
Yes it is authentic, but rather disappointing as far as we were concerned.
For the prices they charge, I certainly dont expect to have 2 simple soup dishes and certainly not to end with a scoop of green tea ice cream. Surely for those prices a bit more creativity isnt too much to ask for.
Sadly to start, the waitress spilled my wine that I was tasting down the stem, so when I lifted the glass, it dripped all over my dress.
Then she went to pour a beer, and knocked it over completely, spilling on the floor. So she had to pat dry and return with another bottle.
This isnt the service I expect after spending over Aed 1000 for 2 ppl.

I tried the (sakura) most affordable menu there. It was a 6 course menu with two main Wagyu dishes. One was a pure steak dish (with one a5 wagyu and one 9+ australian), while the other was a sort of Donburi. Both were amazing! The staff was also extremely nice. One of my friends was not eating fish so they changed both of the fish dishes with meat dishes. The sashimi was a little insipid compared to meat meals. Overall I was really satisfied

The most authentic Japanese place in Dubai with fresh seafood and meat arriving from Japan twice a week. The sushi was perfect and the infamous Japanese steak cooked to perfection-it melted in your mouth! The atmosphere is perfect with lowered seating and taking your shoes off before you sit for your meal - like autistic Japanese restaurant. A must try!

I had a relatively ok lunch here, the meat was good in quality, but the amount was a bit too little. Anything else other than the meat was just not up-to-standard.

Very authentic and friendly! Food is very good and good choice! A bit pricey, but as anything good! Sitting area and ambiance is of very Japanese style and to me was cozy and a bit unusual Service is very good! Arigatou!

Authentic, fresh, tasty and excellent Japanese food. By far the best steaks in Dubai. Sushi is also excellent and super fresh. Great Saki menu to top it off.

The most important thing about Kohantei is that it is not your average westernized Asian food stop. It features a kaiseki serving style that is true to Japanese kaiseki ryori eateries, and the food served will definitely NOT be for people who prefer spicier or mixed flavors (or the more common California Sushi Rolls) that have become commonplace with international dining, so please don’t go here expecting only sushi rolls and teriyaki.

Kohantei is a very traditional, authentic experience of flavors of excellent grade meat and sashimi. Second only to actually being in Japan, it’s an experience that definitely takes you there and does it wonderfully. The presentation and experience itself are the best two hours you’ll spend there.

You may even be visited by the owner, Ben, who is charming and adds as much to the experience as their lovely hosts. It’s become my favourite place to go to treat myself, and the gyudon and black sesame ice cream is out of this world- probably the best I’ve tasted anywhere. The Sakura menu set is good for two people, and very filling- how I wish I had the capacity to try their larger sets!

The most authentic Japanese restaurant in Dubai. Food is excellent, a real kaseiki cuisine experience (I’ve been to Japan twice so you can trust my judgement!). All the staff is Japanese and very welcoming. Definitely coming back for more!

If you are looking for super authentic Japanese kaiseki cuisine- this the place you have to visit! The set menu is priced at Aed 395 (the basic one) and I think it is worth every fil. Why? The attention to detail is superb- the juxtaposition of Australian and Japanese beef, the way the fish has been cut, the potatoes that are flown in from Japanese, the tofu soaked in an incredible broth. The staff is actually Japanese which is rare in Dubai. I think some previous reviewers missed the point of this place- it is not zuma (tho it’s priced similarly). This place is authentic and is the closest thing to Kyoto in Dubai. Also try the yuzu mocktail.

Phenomenal. Authentic Japanese with quality ingredients and lovely service. The Wagyu was out of this world. Not inexpensive but worth every dirham.

A really different experience from any other Japanese cuisine I’ve been too in Dubai. Sushi plate was absolutely tasty even though I do not usually eat raw sushi... beef plates were also great. Everyone working were Japanese! They were absolutely kind and welcoming. Must visit again.

I went for the tasting menu. Ridiculously overpriced. There are far better authentic Japanese restaurants in the UAE at a fraction of the price. Decor is also strange with white neon lights in the rooms. There is no music and we actually got bored half way through dinner.

After a friend shared this rave review from WhatsOn Dubai, we decided that we had to have dinner at Kohantei, pronto. t was overall a wonderful experience. We started off with steamed vegetables with a side of deep fried bread with wagyu beef, this was just absolutely delicious! I didn't want a small piece of bread, I wanted a platter-size of this. Next we had a vegetable broth with meatballs, this was also quite good, then we had the wagyu steaks. The wagyu steaks were good but I wasn't blown away. The meat wasn't hot when it arrived and I found it a tad bit too chewy. The next dish was tofu with a thin slice of wagyu and steamed spinach. Good but not wow. The final dish was rice with pulled wagyu and I loved it, the rice was perfect and so was the meat. The orange ice cream served for dessert tasted like 'Tang' as someone in our group put it.

One thing to highlight is that the service is excellent. Everyone working there is Japanese, which added to the authenticity of the experience. Whilst it is not my favourite restaurant in town, I would definitely recommend trying it out as there are a lot of things that make this a special little place. Full review up on blog.

I have to say this is THE BEST and authentic Japanese restaurant in Dubai. Fabulous service and great food. Let alone Benjamin, the owner of the restaurant, brought the oriental hospitality by checking all customers, chatting with each table. Will definitely visit again.
Further insights:
1) Drinks are legally available :) and,
2) You can order separate dishes if you don’t want to order the set menu (Kaiseki).

We ordered the 6-course kaiseki lunch menu (AED350) and it was an incredible experience. Each course was fresh and flavorful, cooked to perfection. The food was amazing, the experience transports you to Japan and the service was exceptional. Definitely worth a visit.

Currently the best Japanese restaurant in Dubai which I have visited so far. Wagyu here is undoubtedly nice and everything is artistically made to its maximum. Volume was appropriate. And staff was full of hospitality. Will utilize this place definitely again.

We had an amazing dinner experience there. The service was perfect, the food was very tasty, the presentation was beautiful.
It was very authentic and reminded me of a few places I've been in Japan.
I highly recommend this place.

Service is amazing, the ladies at the restaurant are so welcoming and make you feel at home. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, however, we were all VERY disappointed with the food. Quality of food here was really disappointing considering the price we were paying. All the food, including soups came out cold, was not sure if this was because they prepared the food early or if it was intentional - i have been to authentic Japanese restaurants and never experienced this. However, they had a whole presentation about the cuts of beef we were eating and then we did not find the meat to be succulent or flavorsome when we ate it. Rice dishes were very basic, we even had something that looked like an old sandwich. Really hope they improve the quality of the dishes as it is such a great concept.

Best beef I’ve ever had with other really god Japanese food and it is the best experience you can get that is not in Japan and great friendly staff.

The only Japanese restaurant serving premium cuts of Beef aside from great quality seafood and other Japanese delicacies.

The closest experience you can get to traveling to Japan and experiencing the perks of Japanese hospitality!

Exceptional quality of food, great and friendly staff! Can't wait to visit again.
