As soon as we sat down, the waiter came up and showed us the menu. After a minute he suggested that he should take care of our dinner and served us all really good dishes, from starters with prawns, chicken and fish. Then maincourse with chicken and fish served with kind of ricebread and some other kind of bread. All deliciously cooked. We ended up with warm banana and cinnemon on a bed of orangesuryp and vanilla icecream. Lots of flavours and Lots of colours. We all loved it and it's probably one of the most delicious meal I've ever eaten.

This place makes nice Kerala dishes which is my fav.
Tried their Chemmeen Mango curry which is Prawns cooked in coconut gravy with Raw mango.
It has a nice tangy taste and the prawns was of medium size cooked at the right temp.
Appam is the best to be eaten with this dish. Very nice and soft Appams.
Authentic malabar food. StAff is least bothered about the job he is doing. I request to appoint we trained staffs.

If you want to experience authentic kerala food it's the perfect place..it also offers fushion starters which makes the menu interesting.
I would definitely recommend trying The screwdriver chicken and fish fillet llayil tawa for starters.
Had the fish mango curry which had good flavour and creamy..the option of fish can be customized.
The only kink is it's high time they change their cutlery.
Delicious food and excellent service by amazing crew; best place for family to eat out. we have visited Al Barsha, Al Quisais and Hor Al Anz, everywhere care is the same. Keralite food is exceptional quality and taste, just experience it, if you eats out rare, will love to go on regular basis.

This was an unplanned visit, but I m glad I decided to try Calicut Notebook finally!
Tried their kanthari chicken for starters and boy, I loved it! The name isn't apt for this dish because when you hear the word kanthari and if you are from Kerala, you expect the spice level to be really high, which was clearly not the case. But this starter was perfect, the chicken was cooked to perfection with some perfect spices.
We ordered appam and beef ularthiyathu for main course. Appam was served hot and tasted divine. The number of places that serve good appams are way too less.
Beef ularthiyathu was an okayish dish. Very less beef pieces, more of onions.
For our little one, we ordered the blanket fish fillet as suggested by the waiter. We wanted something non spicy. Unfortunately, it lacked flavours, was bland, and had no salt at all. We had to return the dish, and it was replaced by lemon pepper fish (hammour). This had some amazing flavours, and it was made non spicy too.

Loved their hamour chatty mango fish curry, Gandhari fish was just awesome and mouth watering. Best place for Fish curries and fry. Beef wasn't that great as it was not very tender. Over all had a very good experience. 😍

We visited this place on a Friday night. We had to wait in the queue.
Their welcome drink is ginger coffee ( chukku kappi) and unique starters in a Thai leaf which we can fill as per our choice from nuts, chilli, ginger, onion , jaggery syrup etc.
We ordered 2 different chicken Curries and one chicken roast along with appam , puttu and parota.
Puttu with 3 slices where front and back slice were rice puttu and middle slice was brown ( wheat or ragi) which was over salty.
Staff were fast in service. Ambience also good. Family oriented seating.

They have pretty descent ambience. They created a wall space for famous personalities and movie star snaps who been to their restaurant. Calicut is always land of food in kerala.

Calicut Notebook has gotten its essence right when it comes to Kerala food, with a variant of fusion flavours the offerings have only gotten better since its inception and still remains as one of our favourites in town. If you want a wholesome experience, I suggest you skip going on a weekend as it may be too crowded for your liking.
As always yesterday I had a amazing dinner at calicut notebook with my family. it was even more yummy with their Valentine's day special dishes. Highly recommended to all fuddies. Also their staffs are so polite and friendly. Special thanks to Rathesh chettan who explain us about each dishes.
Amazing staff and extremely good food. Don’t go with a ambience as they believe in great quality food and value for money. They don’t change us for the expensive decor 😂 you wil get a homely feel when u eat there. South Indian and my favorite. If u love South Indian food then it’s a must try place.

A very good family restaurant with very tasty southindian foods available. Even Northindian foods available. I like the meals available here and also the appam and chatty curry very much tasty. The appam used to be so soft and crispy too. They have many other tasty foods available. A very resturant to come along with your family and friends. Do visit here when you come to Hor Al Anz area and taste the lovely food from here🙂
I’ve always taken my guests here.. and every time I tell them that I’ve got guests for the first time visit. They never fail to set expectations. Even if they have to make something which is not serving on that particular time.
A great place for a great dinner. This place serves you traditional Kerala cuisines. The key product for me is their crab and squid dishes. Green fire , one of a kind juice, that adds up with spice and chilly.

Craving for Biryani around 10:30 Pm, we decided to go here as they had great rating and was definitely sure they’d have it for dinner. Drove almost 35 mins to reach there only to find out that they don’t serve Biryani for dinner!! Such a disappointment and we had checked their menu before we decided to go there and nowhere in their menu it said mentioned that Biryani was only a lunch item. I hope the management makes sure to take note of this. We obviously didn’t want to leave after driving for so long and already quite late and hungry, so we decided to have Porotta, Appam, Chatty Chicken Curry and Dry Fry Chicken.
The service was really nice. All the staff that we encountered were really sweet & helpful.
They brought us complimentary watermelon drink and a Spicy Salad which was so unique and a surprise to us as the Abu Dhabi Branch didn’t offer us this. It was a mix of roasted coconut pieces, red chili’s, sugar syrup, peanuts, ginger and red onions on Bakchoy Leaves. It was so fresh and spicy.
The food arrived in 15 minutes. The Chatty Curry is a very traditional Kerala Curry in a clay pot which has a very strong coconut and curry leaves flavor which I absolutely loved. It was fragrant and spicy just like how I wanted it, with succulent pieces of chicken. The Appams complimented it much better than the Porottas I personally feel. The chicken fry fry is a must have as it’s packed with flavors and which will definitely remind you of having it from a restaurant in Kerala while on vacation.
Quite reasonably priced. One great thing is that they have options of half or full portion. But I really don’t understand the pricing for the starters which is priced at per single piece. Other that this, I’ll definitely be visiting this place again.
I ordered Food from Calicut Note book - Muteena Branch for a small party at Home . All items were very nice except one dish. I just gave my honest opinion to them after the party. They just returned the money for that particular dish even though I didn't demand! I am really impressed. Great customer care and service. The only place I can have prawns and fish. So basically I am not a seafood lover but yes I have started developing taste for it after visiting this place.
Tried pollichath- fish wrapped in banana leaves tastes amazing, prawns mango curry with ghee rice and appam.
Service and ambience is also good.

Whenever I wish to have South Indian food my first choice is Calicut Notebook, food is tasty, mostly I make delivery order, quick delivery, nice packing, Hot food , what else we expect from a casual dining restaurant.
We have visited their qusais branch pretty often, but this is our first experience at the Hor al anz branch. They keep their quality and customer service very median on all of their branches. The staffs are very polite and friendly as seen at other branches as well.
We just hopped in here at a late night to have their cream soup and our favourite pandanas chicken. A top class rating is always to be given to their pandanas chicken especially with their sweet sauce. Though one peice costs around 8/pc, it is always worth a try. Their chicken cream soup was served very fresh made and hot on the pot. It was well presented and the quantity was pretty fair.
As a frequent customer of Calicut Notebook, this restaurant has always given the best south indian fusion cuisine to us.

It's the first outlet of Calitcut Notebook I visited. The food is good and there are some surprising items in their menu. Especially the pazhassi salad, mushroom pepper baby corn, etc. Their lunch and biriyani's are very nice. Visited there quite a few times with friends during our gatherings.
Lunch with cousins.. And filled our hearts and tummies.. Orderd kandari fish as starter.. Way too yum and spicy.. Then ordered porota mutton curry beef dry fry chickn biriyani and Veg meals... They welcomed us with moruvellam.. Beef and fish dish was the top rated..
I just love their biriyani items good quantity .nice place for family .still have to try few more dishes maybe in coming months will try out different cuisines. so far so good

Our order consists of pazhassi salad, pandanas chicken, spicy rawa mango salad, welcome drink.. Appam chicken curry and lemon mint drink.. Just writing the review of rawa mango salad makes my mouth water.. I always hated raw mangoes.. But this restaurant taste made me order two plates. Everything was really awesome and perfect. Although its been a long time i still remember the flavour
I tried their chicken biryani and liked it. I have been there earlier in Abu Dhabi but didn’t try it then. The Biryani is good and at a very reasonable price. Recommend it for people looking for a quick bite at lunch on a daily basis or otherwise also u could try this place for other South Indian delicacies.

This is seriously good food! Magnificent little freebie starter with Thai leaves in which you wrap your own assortment of ginger, green coconut, onion, chilli and onion, with an amazing syrup to dribble over it. Also a free mint drink. We had a starter followed by a curry each. The whole thing was about $20! Great food...friendly staff, great value.

The food was very tasty and savory especially the chicken in coconut and curry. The chicken with red sauce was spicy and delicious. Getting a seat is a challenge and the service takes time but the food is worth the wait.
Loved the 'nadan' food . Large potion sizes , their chicken /fish /veg lunch meals come with refills . Ambience is crowded especially on weekends but a great place to take anyone who craves for keralite cuisine .

If you are looking for authentic Malabar cuisine, then this is the place for you. All the dishes were really tasty and authentic. The Alleppey fish curry was just so great. The chicken and beef curries were excellent, and the appam was hot and scrumptious.The ambiance of the restaurant was good, the staff was very helpful.

Visited with my Keralite friends and it was a great experience. We all ordered Thali and two Chicken Biryani's. The starter was the one with the leaf which was unique & very creatively presented. The fried fish which was finger sized were so yummy and i completely relished it. All in all a Value for Money experience, however keep wash your hands before and after meals. (u need to use your hands to savor) ;)

And watermelon juice, they serve also hot water for digestion, amazing food taste and Malabar paratha in wheat option also available, recommended to try atleast once for all North Indians
The best place to go out for a biryani, I have been here many times thinking of trying something new but I end up in eating their biryani (a very good flavourfull dish accompanied with pickles, salad, payasum). The ambience is good, staff is great.
Their biryani runs out in the evening especially on a thursday / friday's so order earlier.
One thing that the restaurant can improve is on their order taking for delivery.

We ordered meals with squid roast.for the meals it is almost same with other restaurant.for the squid roast it taste good and quantity is more but the price is bit higher since theres no half serving.

Favourite Kerala based restaurant. The appams are really soft in the middle and perfect. The pandanas chicken is my personal favourite among starters. fish fillet illayil tawa if you love spicy food is a must have. Their wheat parota is also a must have. Do try their green fire drink.

Calicut notebook was conceived as a fusion food destination but however it couldn't quite live up to the expectations of the who is who of malludom in Dubai.
Pertinent to say here that they still manage to rake up some moolah, especially on weekends.

One of my mom's favorite places to order biriyani or have lunch. They're almost always crowded and weekends you have to be there by 12 if you want to get a seat for lunch without waiting for a long time. They serve great South Indian classics at affordable prices that bring in families who want to enjoy home food without the hassle.
We ordered two chicken biriyanis. It comes with raita, achaar, papad and a sweet dish. The portions are really good, a single one will fill up a person. The biriyani is always served or delivered hot. The masala they use for the biriyani is mouth watering, spicy yet very flavorful. The chicken is very tender and sucks up all the flavor of the masala. There are much better biriyani places, but I'd say this place is no less.
The fish fry (sea breeze) was awesome. Mutton curry was made with so much of richness that it was treat to tastebuds. Then this kerala porotta, chapatti and pattri were wow. Welcome drink pineapple juice itself was made with almost care. Ended with lemon juice and that's the real relaxing drink. Need one of this joints in musaffah ASAP.

This restaurant is a good option if you don't want to travel to Karama to Calicut Paragon.The fish tikka and most of the sea food preparations are impressive if not at par with Paragon.I m not even sure if I shall compare the two! But over all its a good choice and a must visit if you are fond of eating fish in an affordable and decent place.

i have seen this branch few time. i visited their other two branch in qusais and i was not that happy. today we three , from my office went here for lunch. it was 2.30 and the restaurant was bussy. we ordered for meals, with fish curry, fish fry and beef roast. the order came after around 20 minutes. before that they served a cool laban as a welcome drink.
the rice was hot, and well cooked. there was 8 dishes. sambar, two fish curries, pappad, pickle, sweet, upperi etc. the meals was good. fish curry was tasty and spicy, they made as per our requirement. beef roast was not that special.
sweet was average and i felt it little watery. meals rate was reasonable, but fish curry rate is too high.
overall we liked the food, and returned happily.
