This place has always been in my list, as it's not just one of the oldest Moroccan restaurants in Dubai, but always comes in highly recommended.

So I was surprised when my partner decided to take me here for my birthday. The place was very intimate, with beautiful authentic decoration, and traditional oud players right in the center of the restaurant.

We were greeted by super friendly staff, who are dressed in traditional Moroccan clothes, and were taken to our reserved table.

Menu is not that long, so it's not that hard to decide on what to order. Friendly waiter helps out as well, with recommendations based on your liking, with both food & drinks.

We ordered Couscous Khodar - served with fresh seasonal vegetables & chickpeas; and Tagine Barkook - lamb braised with onion, seasoned with black pepper & cinnamon, served with prunes in honey, fried almond & toasted sesame seeds.

Both were served together, and were just the perfect comfort food to enjoy the evening. The meat was cooked to perfection, well seasoned, and the right amount of sweetness there.

Once we were done with the food, I was surprised with a friendly birthday singing by the team and the Oud players. Wasn't overly loud or anything. They kept it simple and fun at the same time. They got me Keneffa - pastry layers, filled with vanilla cream, crushed almond, icing sugar & cinnamon, with a scoop of ice-cream on top.

I super loved this place, as I got to enjoy my birthday celebration in the most special way possible.

Highly recommended for special occasions, and social gatherings with friends. Book in advance as the place can get packed even on working days.

THE BEST MOROCCAN RESTAURANT IN ALL UAE, this how fairly I can describe Tagine.

I went to Tagine for dinner. I ordered Hareera soup, some pastries, Lamb with Barqooq tagine, and Rafisa. the food is amazing specially the Rafisa it was delicious and chicken was succulent and melting in my mouth, best chicken ever.

I enjoyed the dinner with beautiful moroccan live music which made my experience more enjoyable. the ambient is amazing and the service was excellent.

Highly highly recommended

Wonderful atmosphere, great food, liberal portion size, great live music. Unfortunately, we could not finish all our food so we asked for a takeaway. It was not allowed. Really disappointing and it tainted our experience.

Vest Moroccan restaurant in Dubai, with oud player , with traditional Arabic songs. Dimmer lights, rose petals all over the place and the tables, staff wearing traditional Moroccan outfit... perfect for a romantic date night, there is an outdoor sitting area for shisha , which looks like a garden, and is great as well.

Food: I'm not a fan of Moroccan food in general but this joint is one of the best out there. The food taste really good.
Ambiance: the music's played there and the singers are really good. Just adds to the experience.
Price: it's really on the higher end.

The atmosphere in the restaurant will remain in your mind for a long time: small fountain in the entrance, beautiful decoration inside with fresh flowers, traditional plates and live music (quiet, more a background Moroccan music).
The service was fast and attentive. The food is worth the price, especially the lamb shoulder which melt in your mouth.

To be honest it really sets the scene for a romantic fine dining dinner experience.

The food was fantastic, fresh flowers and candles everywhere, a sleepy oud singer and all. The only con was that the waiters were a bit slow in attending to us. I tried to take some photos without being bait

My favorite Moroccan restaurant in Dubai!!! What a beautiful place! Very romantic ambiance , fresh rose petals, candles, live music, beautiful set up. Definitely great place for dinner as a couple or as a group. Good service , good tagines. Delicious very unique kunafa dessert!!!(thin, light and crispy). The only thing I didn’t like was the red wine- none out of 4 options by the glass. But otherwise definitely recommend going to Tajine!!!

A North African Cuisine restaurant located in Palace - One and Only Royal Mirage. Went for a dinner with family. Had the best ambience of Moroccan Home with decorated lanterns, Morrocan Mint tea glasses at entrance. There is reservation recommended as weekend gets crowded here. Live moroccan music just add to the magic. Saw many guests celebrating there special occasions like marriage anniversary or bday with staff joining to celebrations with live music. A huge Rose Bouquet in centre with rose petals everywhere@ makes it beautiful. For food we had seafood based Pastilla Al Bahar- spicy and tangy and boiled vegetable soup. Main course was Dzaz B Jatoon ( Braised chicken with rice and olives) and Couscous vedar (boiled season vegetables) both were good. Dessert Roz bil Halib. All items were freshly prepared and good to taste. Only thing was service- very slow though chef made sure our requests for meat and spice is well taken care of.

I'm just wondering why I never visited this place earlier, they serve delicious Moroccan food in a very nice romantic setting at one and only royal mirage hotel.
Their chicken tagine and couscous with vegetables were amazing, meat tagine was nice too, I wasn't big fan of their fish ( but generally I'm not a sardine lover , maybe that's why ).
Overall the experience was great and the place promise to impress.

I've been back multiple times & I simply love this place. The food, the staff, the ambiance & the live music - they even ask you to request some Moroccan music which is cool.

I would recommend ordering:
- Harira soup
- Pastilla D'jaj
- Meghoui
- Couscous bedaoui
- Moroccan tea to end the meal (of course!)

We were here for a dinner with friends and since the moment we enter the restaurant we find the place exceptional: the table set with the rose petals, the waitress dress in typical style and the life soft music was a plus.

We started with the cocktail of the day which included gin, pomegranate. It was light and refreshing.

We decided to share some apetlzer a some mains course. They served us small plates with olives, potatoes, carrots and others things to enjoy with traditional bread, they were appreciated.

We choose 2 tagine and 2 couscous. We find the tagines literally amazing, and the couscous was tasty but was lacking a bit of meat.

They also a decent wine list, with some Moroccan wines if you want to complete the dinner with a nice glass of wine.

We finish with a traditional Moroccan dessert and a good cup of Moroccan tea.

It was absolutely a good experience, it was a busy night, the place was fully booked but the food came in normal timing. The only thing was that the waiter was busy and he lacked a bit of attention to the table, especially when we wanted to have some water (and the bottle was not on the table).

Definitely recommended.

Hands down the best Moroccan food in town! Its on the high end but very much worth it!

Must tries are: Harira soup ( its the traditional soup in North Africa). The Pastilla, you can either order the pigeon or the chicken both are good. For tagine you have to try DJaj bi zaytoon which is chicken marinated in olives and lemons. Very good. And the veal or lamb with prunes, DELISH! For dessert try the Bortokal and the Seffa. Note that the Morrocan desserts have a lot of rose water so if you dont like it then dont try any of them.

I definitely recommend this place and suitable for vegans and vegetarians

Great decor, nice live music and good food. Visited a couple of days ago with some friends and shared chicken pastillas, lamb and chicken tagine and a meat couscous. I also had a hrira. The food was all good but i had better to be honest... Service was slow; it took forever for the food to arrive, even the tea took a while...
Still a good place and worth a try.

One of my favourite venues especially in Ramadan. This year our first Iftar was there. Very authentic and tasty buffet, specifically salads, juices and sweets. The Morrocan traditional main dishes are served on the table. The service is 5*. Recommended to take the round sofa seats if you are a family.

My first visit was last year and it was ok. I had no idea about Moroccan food much though my husband is a traveller and went to Morocco couple of times for sure he knows what to order, so i let him handle it. He ordered lamb i really don't remember how they cooked it but its absolutely delicious, we had chicken with olives we loved it. Over all it was good, what was main corse without a dessert for sure we need to try their dessert, i am not a fan of sweets but i am telling you that the desserts that i had tried here was to die for.
The place is huge with a moroccan decor, ambiance is good for business meetings or groupies that want to hang out. The only negative that i want to say was most of the waiters are not attentive at all. Not sure if i want to come back again.

We've been at Tagine couple times with my work colleagues for a corporate dinner . Recent visit was last week and every thing still great . Food , service and atmosphere . It's a perfect romantic place if you have a special occasion also good to have fun if you can get the live band at your table , that's what we did :)
If your there you have to get the traditional Tagine and CousCous . For me I liked the lamb Tagine .
It's an expensive place but worth it !

Tagine is my go-to restaurant in Dubai when any visitors are in town or for special occasions, I worked out I've been going to this restaurant regularly for over 10 years and it seriously never disappoints.  It reminds me of old Dubai (in new Dubai) and the hotel grounds are just so beautiful as you come in at night with the fairy lights and the golden camels.  I love the decor, the ambience, the friendly staff, the musicians and that lamb, oh the lamb mmm... Its really reasonable priced and the food is always fantastic.  Go for sundowners at Jetty Lounge first then head here for dinner, it won't disappoint!!

I really enjoyed a relaxed evening meal in Tagine with friends. We were lucky to have a Moroccan person amongst us and the staff were super attentive and friendly. The band of two musicians/singers were entertaining and played louder as the evening progressed. We took a selection of small mese of which I particularly liked a salad of grilled veggies and baba ghanoush. For main, we shared a couscous dish with beef and sweet raisins. We actually ordered lamb but it worked out even better. Moroccan red win is rather nice after it breathes for 10 min or so. Delightful place, would recommend it!

I am yet to visit a Moroccan restaurant that doesn't have that 'Aladin's cave' feel about it and Tagine does not dissapoint on this front!

The entrance can be hard to find as it is hidden behind a huge medieval looking for which opens to reveal a far smaller one. Equipt with indoor water features, painted tiles and low built arches, the restaurant had an adorable warm and magical atmosphere. The tables are mainly round (my favourite) and there is an authentic 2man band filling the room with life.

I ordered the Tagine Soussi which was cooked well. Unfortunately, there was not a dried lemon in sight which left the flavour rather British stew like and lacked in the sweet and tangy flavours it promised.

The staff were very pleasant, professional and quick to respond. This is the perfect place for a date night!

The best couscous in Dubai as far as I've been searching. Better than the one in MoE as of me, however friends are arguing the opposite :)

Professional service, good choice of wines. Room a bit dark and music can be a little bit noisy.

Didn't try anything else than the couscous, so can't review the rest.

This place is as amazing as Morocco. Decoration, staff and their entire atmosphere is exciting. We ordered 4-5 different dishes as the menu and orders around us were all tempting. My favorite was the Tajene with Lemon & Olives and then we had moroccon tea with Mint to seal a perfect outing along side the one man show Moroccan singer.

This place is a favourite for a very long time! It's located at arguably the most beautiful hotel in Dubai, has amazing decor and setting - perfect for a romantic dinner but just as perfect for a catch up with friends too. Anyone that visits would be impressed. The food - beautiful tagines are the main feature and they are so good! The only negative comment I have is the fact that the menu doesn't seem to change ever! That can be good and bad but it would be nice to see a few new dishes once in a while! Also there is no salad anywhere on the menu - which is a bit odd. Nevertheless this place with remain a favourite no matter what!

BEST basteela in town in my opinion! The chicken with the perfect crisp bread around it with the cinnamon and sugar on top blows me away every time, my weakness! The basteela albahr (seafood) is also very good and more on the salty side if you don't like sugar with your food. Some tagines and couscous for the main dish are also good but my favorite things here are the starters and the dessert! We ordered the kunafa which is layers of crispy pastry with creme in the middle drizzled in sugar and cinnamon and a side of moroccan tea and beautiful live arabic music is the way to set an amazing mood. The ambience of the place is great and relaxing! Highly recommended

Tagine is a low-lit, tastefully decorated Moroccan-themed restaurant - this includes the servers and staff who are all in matching traditional dress. It's the perfect place to take visitors (especially if they're from the West) or to go for a romantic dinner. The food is excellent and the service always friendly. The small bar at the entrance is often overlooked. Try it. Ask the bartender to make you something Moroccan - he always has some surprise up his sleeve which includes some element of Moroccan taste - melon, pomegranate exotic as opposed to the usual mint, lime, blah-blah. The whole Royal Mirage setting is so beautiful, it's hard to come away unimpressed.

If you like Moroccan food then Tagine is a great place to try out. I recently had some guests over from Europe and we tried this out for the first time and it was a great experience. The restaurant is well decorated to create a traditional Moroccan restaurant ambience however we did find it a little dark to the extent that reading the menu became a challenge! To keep matters simple we took the recommendation of a set menu which gave us a great range of Moroccan dishes to taste however you need to be hungry because the dishes served seem to never end and you cannot resist trying every piece!

Tagine at One & Only Royal Mirage Dubai – Iftar in pure elegance!
Iftar at the wonderful Tagine, One & Only Royal Mirage with a special company for a special occasion.

It was time for another fabulous Iftar venue after a couple of days of home cooking and several deliveries. We decided to head down to the famous Royal Mirage once again. The resort is known for it’s luxurious and unique restaurants, interior and great service. As we have not been at Tagine before and read their advertisement in this week’s TimeOut Dubai, we booked a table for four.

Up on arrival, several gentlemen greeted us at the car park outside and asked if we needed a ride on their golf buggy to the restaurant. However as it was only a few meters away we declined. The entrance of Tagine was beautiful decorated and all held very Moroccan style and authentic.

A low seating area filled with pillows and surrounded by millions of candles already gave a first impression about the style of Tagine – authentic Moroccan. It was amazing. Every little corner of the restaurant was decorated with beautiful Arabic style features, candles, dimmed lights, rose paddles.

The restaurant itself, was held in a mix of dimmed lights, candles and a beautiful scent of Arabic nature, was laid out for approximately 80 people, several 2 – 4 seating tables and round séparées on the sides.

Up on arrival we were greeted by the hostess and the restaurant manager, who accompanied us to the table. As we waited for our friends, an expatriate couple of Irish origin, we helped ourselves at the juice bar to break the fast.

While sitting and waiting, observing and taking pictures to capture the moment for you, our followers, we were approached by Mr. Idriss, offering us soup. We informed him that we wanted to wait a while, and asked him to return later again.

While waiting for our friends we observed the happening around us. All of a sudden we were surrounded by guests and more guests. Those who queued around the buffet.

Tagine offers a special menu for Iftar, a soup served on the table, starters to be taken off the buffet, mains served again, and desserts optional to be taken off the buffet again. As most of the guests must have arrived at the same time, had their soup at the same time, they obviously also wanted their starters at the same time. The buffet however, was laid out in such a way, that only a few people could help themselves at once. This created a major line of approximately 25 – 30 guests waiting, and standing behind us, looking over our shoulders while we still sipped on our juices.

Once our friends arrived, one of them a famous Executive Chef Mr. D.F, who lived and worked in Dubai for many years, Mr. Idriss passed by again to offer us the soup.

The soup was okay, however needed a bit of salt. We headed off to the starters buffet, once the crowed faded as they all took a seat again and we found a great variety of salads and traditional cold Mezzeh.

Once we finished our starters, the hostess and one colleague passed by to clear our table and informed us that the main will be served soon.

The main course consisted out of four different types of Tagines: chicken, lamb, seafood and one with vegetables and couscous. We were expecting a lot, as we already had a look at the menu card which was placed on our tables before arrival.

It was also the first time, Servicexcellence was accompanied by one of Dubai’s most well-known Chefs, and we were curious about his opinion too.

The four Tagines were served at the same time, the lid taken off and Mr. Idriss wished us a good meal. Well, it was a bit less than we expected, and to quote the Chef’s opinion:”We would have expected a little more to be honest. The salads were average and the mains could have been fresher, at the end of the day, nothing special, but the restaurant’s ambiance is great.”

We could only agree with him. The food, was not blowing away our minds however the restaurant itself and the fantastic humble and professional service were.

As soon as we finished our mains, we did not eat it all up, and went to have a closer look at the desserts, our table was cleaned again and four glasses of Moroccan tea were placed on the same.

Again, two thumbs up for the attention to detail. Refreshing the table while guests are at the buffet not to disturb them, and leave a little surprise for them to enjoy once back, superb. All four tea glasses came in different colors, amazing and great details with a lot of thoughts given to them. Whoever designed and decorated Tagine, really has a unique taste. Well done.

Being a great fan of Moroccan tea, I asked Mr. Idriss to refill my glass, and took a short video clip of him, you can see the video on Twitter @SofiePickhard. He was very polite, humble and one could tell that he enjoys his job and taking good care of his guests.

Overall, the experience was a mixture of elegance, ambiance, and great service.

Amazing place, great service, good food. What else to expect from such a 5 star restaurant in 5 star hotel. They serve the real authentic Tagine serves in a traditional "tagine" clay pot. You may feel the romantic ambiance since the first step you come in. We're celebrating birthday at that time, and the team could cooperate very well according my request. I sent an email only few days before, and they response quickly and yet they did beyond my expectation. Live music (of course traditional Moroccan instruments and song) is available, accompanying the perfect dishes.
