Canara restaurants is a must try place for Manglorians .
The food is very homely and the service provided is helpful.
The restaurant is slightly congested with limited seating availability so it’s better to visit during non-peak hours .
A simple place at a quiet corner in Karama that specializes in Mangalorean food.

Have been a regular customer of this restaurant for almost 10 years now. The food is always up to the mark and they have very quick service. The staff is very friendly. Specially love their squid chilli and shezwan fried rice!
It's a good restaurant to try the seafood. The king fish rava and spicy prawns were delicious. The beer dosa and the curry was also good.
A good place for sea food lover's. You can request them to make it spicy.
This is a very small South Indian food joint that serves amazing mangalorean food. Their specialities include, kube Sukka, fish meals, buttermilk , fish rawa/tawa fry. Worth trying if you’re a fan of south Indian cuisines.
I like the mangalorian food we get here. Have been visiting this place from past 10 years. Always found a loyal customer base visiting this place.
Normally i order for my favourite prawn ghee roast, chicken sukka and neer dosas. Service is good.
Craving for managlorian food always takes me to this restaurant. Small restaurant with neat ambience.
For the starters we ordered for golden fried prawns, the size was bit small but was very tasty. Chicken lollipop was good too.
For mains we tried crab sukka, neer dosa and kori rotti. Food was abit spicy but tasted amazing. We definitely oder some other dishes soon.
I’ve been ordering from this place since forever. My usuals are their butter chicken, chicken tandoori, butter naan and prawn curry. They have really good seafood too and even tasty biryani. Love their service as well, the staff are very nice and warm whenever we ask for something.
Amazing Mangalorean style food. Had taken fish Thali it has a fish fry one veg curry with beans and spinach, sardines curry and the dry fish chutney is to die for. I have also tasted their Biryani and kabab but seafood is the best. Had also ordered Mackerel masala fry didn't like the masala much but wasn't bad.
Went to this place after seeing an article on their fish thali. Took my die hard, mangalorean parents, along. And boy, the food here is amazing. The way mom cooks at home. So homely, so yum. We had the fish thali for 20Dhs, that's a total steal! We also had prawns masala, mussles, fish curry, neer dosa and everything was out of the world. My parents enjoyed the food and I got a pat on my back for finisng this jem on a holiday to Dubai.
Best mangalorean dishes and value for money
Delicious Mangalorian meals are available here. Their praws curry is just mouth watering. And their service is also worth appreciating.
Great place to go have some great lunch and dinner!
Best Restaurant to have manglorean food specially sannas, Koro rotti
I would highly recommend everyone: reasonable tasty good service and good portions... I loved it though it was my third time and but had a wonderful experience having Mangalore food
Canara is a humble restaurant serving some authentic Mangalorean cuisine. We were here one evening and loved the food.
We started the meal with a Chilli Chicken that was cooked Indo Chinese style. The chicken was extremely tender and loved the way it was cooked.
The Neer Dosa is a must have when here, it is an authentic Mangalorian dish prepared from rice flour and tastes best with chicken or fish curry. We wanted to try something different so we called for it with Prawn mango curry. This combination tasted amazing. Cant wait to go back here and try some more authentic seafood dishes.
Really I had a great meal with family. Delicious food also service was nice.☺️
The best food remembers about home, love the neer dosa and chicken curry. The place is also clean and recommend to visit this place. The staff are also very polite and helpful.

Located in Karama for years this small Mangalorian family restaurant leaves with gastronomical experience. Totally in love with fish thali and fish. Above all this place is very cheap on your pockets.
Visted this place 2 days back, and trust me it's a hidden gem in bur dubai. Food and service is excellent and its pocket friendly. Haven't tried all the food yet but once I do, definitely 5 star rating from me
Loved the food here . Authentic manglorean food at its best. Loved the fish fry , chicken starters are amazing.Neer dosa with chicken curry was delicious.😊😊
Canara Restaurant is a long time favorite for us fish lovers that specializes in Manglorean cuisine. We had a hearty meal that consisted of a fish Thali which came with rice, curry, Fried fish. To top it off we called for the masala friend #mackreal which was filled with flavor.
Food : 5/5
Ambience : 3/5
Value for money : 4/5
Service : 5/5
Short story is that Canara is a simple place serving highly flavourful quality Mangalorean/coastal Indian food at a very reasonable price. I will be going back here repeatedly for a long time to come.
What we (over)ordered -
Starters:
Prawns Butter Garlic - very nice and garlicky
Crispy Chilli Chicken - great dish but can do without as there may be better starters to try
Kingfish Curry - fried Kingfish with a Mangalorean curry on it. I do not like fish normally but this was really good.
Chicken Green curry - This is my go to in any Konkani restaurant and their curry was one of the best I've had
Prawns Mango curry - Filled with flavours and prawns. Definitely a must order
Beef Sukka - Very well made and tasted good
The staff was very efficient and courteous. The space is limited with around 6-7 small tables. It's not fancy but the food more than makes up for it. It is reasonable and the food portions are not small.
Overall it's very good and I would highly recommend it to seafood and Indian coastal food lovers.
There is nothing called too much food. The below platter is what three sea food lovers ordered and finished in no time.
So there was prawns masala, flat fish fry, mangalorean chicken, marwai and crab masala and of course neer dosa.
Both Crab and chicken gravies tasted different and filled with flavours. The chicken gravy was so good that I did not need the pieces. Neer dosas were soft and light and easily we could finish 20 between the three of Everything was delectable except the marwai which was replaced with crab by restaurant. There was lot of coconut and no clams at all, hence this was replaced with crabs by the restaurant. Even my friend had this experience with clams.
Tucked away in a small corner of Karama is this gem. Always crowded on weekends, it’s best to head here on a weekday evening. And tuck into some amazing fish and seafood. Definitely give the prawns bendi curry, the teesrya sukkah (clams) and the Bombay duck a try. Guaranteed great food at very reasonable prices.
Canara takes me back home!
I love their Neer dosas and fish curry!
Their fried fish has the perfect balance of spice and tang to it! Loved their vegetarian food as well! Would love to visit again!
I have been here many times in the last 10-12 years. Most of the time I call ahead for take away. During all these visits, I have found the consistency in the way they have prepared the whatever I have ordered so far. Mangalorean preparations are a treat. Service is good. The little extras such as dry chutney and vegetable are awesome and every time I have enjoyed my experience in this place. Only suggestion would be - I have been served Pomfret Masala Fry couple of times and I found the fish was fried first and then cooked with masala. I guess this makes it faster to serve. However, if the fish is cooked/fried along with the masala, the fish would taste much fresh and better. Marvai sukka, need dosa, fish curry, etc are simply superb. All the best. Keep up the good work. I am not only sure that I will keep coming to this place, I am sure of recommending this to seafood and mangalorean food lovers. It's lovely place to go. Always I ended up having more than my normal portion of meal. Thank you for the great food.
We ordered in Neer Dosa with Mangalorian Chicken Curry. We got a couple of complimentary add ons.
The food was absolutely tasty and yet very simple and light on the tummy. The neer dosas were thin like papers...We shared nearly 10 of them between two of us.. and each bite was a delight.
The chicken curry was delicious and the chicken itself was tender and juicy.
Highly recommend this combination.
A restaurant serving Indian food in Dubai is nothing new but Canara Restaurant is more of a Mangalorean cuisine-serving resraurant; you can feel that in the ambiance and of course, the food. I went there with some family friends and had an amazing range of food from neer dosa to fried squid to the typical rice and curry. Good quantity and taste.
Yummy mutton green masala. Authentic mangalorean food. Good thali options and courteous staff. Fish fry, chicken curry, kori roti, Sanna everything was good. Quick service and well known restaurant in karama. Parking available around, located near choitram.
The best ever place in Dubai for Mangalore people. I have visited here many times. This is the place reminds me the taste of Mangalorean food. Must try the fish fries and the other Mangalore dishes. You wouldn't be disappointed. !!
Tried their Fish Thali couple of times and I love it. Its reasonable and tasty. Their fish curry is really good. Heard their crispy chicken is also good. Have to try the others to comment further..
Visited this restaurant last night ..... Ordered for Kori Rotti. Must say it was authentic mangalorean Kori Rotti. Very tasty and also ordered Kane rava fry which was also very yummy.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant to any mangalorean ...Must try restaurant in Karama
We went to try out this Manglorean restaurant on a friends recommendation and weren’t disappointed. The place is small with hardly any space between tables. We tried Neer dosa which was real good and paired it with Chicken Sukka which wasn’t that great though. Also had Kori rotti with chicken curry and Kingfish tawa fry which was yum!! Will be back to try more!
I have had food from this place too many times. It was quite surprising I haven't reviewed it yet. I have tried the sannas, chicken curry, chicken sukka, kori rotti from this place. It is very very delicious. The taste of the food here is quite authentic. It is conveniently located, in one of the bylanes of Karama. Must go for some Mangalorean delicacies.
Wanted to have mangalorian food ,so we choose canara restaurant. We ordered crab and chicken dish but both have same gravy so we ordered chicken chukka. That's good. Neer dosa was amazing. Over all good
Definitely value for money. Great food especially all fish fry is a must try. Try all the mangalore food on the menu as they are known for it and you will not miss Mangalore for a moment. All in all thumps up
Had heard about this place many times but never got a chance to visit them.
Being a mangalorean guy had to try to this place so popped in for a late dinner.
The restaurant was packed even though it was 11.20 PM
We started with the typical Mangalorean fare of Neer Dosa paired with chicken sukka and the days special mutton green curry. The meal was finished off with a chicken biryani.
All items were very flavorfull however less in salt.
Overall a great meal.
This is my go to place when I miss some of the food my mom cooks, today was one of those days. The service is always good. The place is humble and down to earth. Don't expect fancy. Fairly priced. This order was take away. I would recommend the place any day to my manglorean friends who miss home. Last but not the least, I was pleasantly surprised by a very friendly voiced order taker 😉👌
One more mangaloren spicy food.. This one with bit of catholic speciality.. Delicious food with reasonable price.. Friendly staff with quick service.. Verity of sea food and other meat stuff.. During weekends it's crowded with long waiting ques.. Weekdays preferred.
This restaurant can be easily missed out while driving in karama. I visited this restaurant with a friend of mine.
Yo so go with a manglorean friend if you are not sure what to eat there . It’s more of a Goan & manglorean combo.
Loved the neer dosa. I am a fan of it.
Small place and very comfortable seating
Quick service
Yummy to your tummy and will not regret visiting if you are a foodholic and enjoy the coastal food.
What a wonderful place to dine... rememberd maa ke haath ka khana....just yum...the seafood is simply superb and feels like home food ..the masalas we're typical manglorean.. Had an awesome weekend lunch..I tried the fish thali and chicken lollypop ...10/10 to the chef and staff 😍
If you want the taste of a homely cooked Mangalorean meal, do visit Canara. Their crab masala with neer dosas are to die for. This place is cosy and you feel at home. Do ensure you don’t go there during peak hours as you will have to wait a while to get a seat.
If you have the craving for Mangalorean food then this is the place.
Must try their Kori roti chicken. One the best I have ever tried.
Other speciality include Fish fry , Sanas
Our go-to place for food anytime! The chicken crispy , prawn crispy is delicious. Fish curry is tasty. Mutton or chicken green curry is full of flavour. My all time fav! Mangalore cuisine is on point. A must have is tandoori pomfret!
Authentic mangalorean food. We had chicken sukkah, neer dosa and fish meals with fish rava fry. All of it was very tasty and very economical.
It's a small, blink and you miss restaurant in the Hamdan Colony area of Karama, but supercharged with the freshest seafood prepared in the most tantalizing tastes. The preparations are Mangalorean, hence milder than your average Kerala or Chettinad variety. I tried the Bombil Rava Fry, Pomfret Tava Fry and Prawn Mango Curry with rice, and would recommend each of these. The ambience is ordinary but gastronomists will not be deterred by that, ever! Cost for a couple- approx AED 120.
A small hidden joint in Karama serving awesome manglorean food.. Very close to Konkani cuisine.. they also serve chinese n other Indian food for those who prefer it. Ordered the manchow soup to start with and it was decent with a slight tangy flavor. Then for the main course ordered prawns mango curry, shellfish (shimpli) Sukka, Ladyfish (Kane) rava fry, egg masala, neer dosa and rice. Everything was spot on except the shellfish sukka which disappointed because there was no hearty meat in the shellfish.. it was just stuffed with coconut masala. They also serve a dry fish coconut dish and a chana salad kind of dish as complimentary accompaniment which is tasty too. This place also has veg options unlike other places that normally specialize in seafood!! The quantity was good and worth the price.. overall a decent dining experience.
The place is bit small and crowded during weekends and you may have to wait for a table. Service is prompt.. .. the seating is simple.. no fancy stuff.

This is really a hidden jewel for mangaloreans. Really a very tiny place. They serve authentic mangalore cuisine. We had neer dosa, prawns fry, mutton sukka, kube sukka. Everything was really well prepared. Homely food😇
The food is just wow! Reminds me of home.... It's manglorean but very close to Goan cuisine... It does put some of our Goan restaurants in UAE to shame when it comes to quality & taste.... This tiny restaurant dishes out one of the best tasting dishes for a very reasonable price. A must try place if you love goan-manglorean food....
Craving for manglorian food always attract me to this homely restaurant. Had kori rotti and mutton sukka with neer dosa. Tasty food.
pros: friendly staff, quantity, quality, on-time service.
cons: ambience.
Visited here after couple of years . This used to be one of my favorite places for mangalorean food while we lived closer to karama . Once we moved out I missed visiting here . So after a long break got back to my favorite place and yes with no second thought ordered my favorites. Bombay duck fry, pomfret Tawa fry, king fish tawa fry, prawns with mango curry, mackerel curry with sanna and neer dosa. The service was quick , the Bombay duck fry was crispy and yum , pomfret was fresh and flavorful and the king fish was delicious . The prawn with mango curry was the best of all and we couldn’t keep a count of how many neer dosa we had .Sanna’s were soft and fluffy. Mackerel curry was good too . Overall a super scrumptious meal ! Love this place for keeping up with their consistent taste and friendly service !
Visited Canara restaurant after 5 years, comparing to the old days food is OK but not the best , service is good and quick, recommended for all the people who love seafood.
If you miss Mangalorean food, you definitely have to visit this place.
The food itself can remind you of your mother.
I love how they give chutney and any veggie as complimentary.
Main dishes here I like is mutton curry, other meat curry, fish curry and their fish fry.
The only thing they could ever improve on is their quantity and nothing can stop them.
Best place if you are missing home cooked Mangalorean food.Prices are decent.Should definitely try the Fish curry, chicken curry, chicken Sulla, beef fry, fish fry and squid chilly.
Amazing place for Manglorean-North Indian- IndoChinese food! The father and son duo running the place do a splendid job welcoming everyone who comes in and make them feel at home! Pocket friendly and simple food ... absolutely love this place!

next to their is the fish thali which I heard is also available for dinner
Canara was the first place I was introduced to Mangalorean Cuisine. My life changed every since.
Every visit to Canara is mind blowing. Food is very fresh, delicious, value for money and hits the right spots. I just had it again last night and I woke up craving for more.
We always tend to over order but somehow we will always be able to finish it.
Absolute must haves? Bombay duck fry, kingfish tawa, mutton green masala, prawn mango curry, squid butter fry and garlic cheese butter naan are my usual favorites. I usually order it with a glass of mango lassi.
Truly heavenly. One of the best restaurants ever. 😍

My fav place to grab some amazing mangoes food. Our lazy Friday lunch’s or dinners are here. The best chicken Sukka, the neer dosa, yummy!
Can never get enough of it! You keep wanting to go back ! Love it 😍
Out of all the restaurants in Karama , Canara has been the best and my Favorite so far :) Good Quality Food Served and worth it! The guys who serve are very Polite and Helpful :)
This is a go to place if you want to have some good mangalorean food. Food served here is absolutely delicious and the service is quick. The only downside being it's a small place and will be full most of the time so ultimately you need to wait for your turn on the weekends.
Food 5/5
Service 5/5
Cheers
