Stop searching, this is it.. hands down the best Japanese I’ve had and got me longing for more!
Food was EXCEPTIONAL, every single dish including dessert was made with skill (and love?) difficult to go wrong here really.
Service was very attentive and they took the time to explain where needed including portion sizes which was appreciated.
Ambiance was buzzing, with cool “well to do” yuppie crowd, place was a little crammed indoors but you get to watch them cook! Not sure if they have an outdoor section now the weather is better. Location is in an upscale strip mall, no touristic value or views, but it’s “happening” with quite a few popular eateries.
Price was reasonable for the quality (for Dubai)
Will be back again, and again, and again.. Make the time to visit!
I absolutely love Reif! One of the best japanese dining experiences in the UAE. We had:
Togarashito (10/10 would recommend)
Tamago sando (10/10)
Wagyu sando (9.5/10)
Chicken ramen (9/10.. the shredded chicken in the ramen doesn’t taste good but the broth was refreshing along with the chicken skewer)
Kimchi edamame (8/10)
Kimchi melon (8.5/10)
Black pepper beef kushi (10/10)
Beef gyoza (9.5/10)
Waiters were super nice and sweet. Would definitely visit again!
The Kagoshima Kushiyaki skewer is the Best beef in the world !!! Must try. Everything else is worth it.
The molten chocolate cake with vanilla bean icecream from Reif was divine! The molten lava had chocolate & peanut butter lava oozing out and the icecream was delicious as well. Loved the service! Going back for their main course next time!
Simply Amazing!! Reif is truly a Food God. He put Zuma on the map and won Chef of the Year so many times. Now he has his own Treasure trove of delicious heaven. This is a must visit to Everyone in the Emirates and Visitors to Dubai... He is my #1.. The meal and the staff are top quality. Chippy is the best waiter. Make reservations its an essential, There is a waiting list to get in. Bravo Reif!!! well done!!
It’s not everyday that you leave a restaurant feeling completely satisfied and just happy. Eating here does exactly that
⭐️ Peach Elixir and Shiso Mint Julep were incredible refreshing summer drinks that are great to have before your meal arrives, just to cool down from the heat.
⭐️ Beef Gyoza - This was my first time having a gyoza with a beef filling but it was absolutely delish!
⭐️ Chicken Sando - Oh boy…where do i start? Crispy chicken fillets from the outside and juice tender meat on the inside couple with a lemon mayo sort of salad stuffed in a bread. Loved it!!!!
⭐️ Stuffed wings - Saw this in their specials of the day and so glad that we ordered this. A more flavourful, well cooked and flavourful rendition of a fried chicken. Brilliant!
⭐️ Tiramisu boba - Here’s where the place disappoints. Although the presentation was amazing, i found the Tiramisu to be bitter and the boba wasn’t helping it.
⭐️ Chocolate cake with ice-cream - Loved the combination of a lava cake and butter scotch ice-cream. Did not love the addition of the peanut butter
Despite the just okay dessert, the sheer brilliance of the food makes me want to give it a 5/5. A must-visit for sure
One of my Favorite restaurants in Dubai, I always come here to try different things on the menu. They always surprise me with the new additions on the menu. Good to great food and Chef Refi is very talented. Thanks to Cepi the waiter for his great service
Outstanding food, original menu, great service. Wagyu sando was a delight.
Highly recommended place! Will be back
Hands down the best food I've had in Dubai. Unbelievable main courses (we had the chicken sando and the wagyu beef sando), best edamame I've had (loved that they're grilled) and stunning and tasteful desert (banana passion fruit). I want to have breakfast, lunch and dinner here.
I had one of the best meals in all of my time in Dubai! Their chicken sando and wagyu beef is truly a festival of flavors. It was cooked to perfection and presented in a timely manner.
In addition to that, their service is great, awesome team and absolute delight. And order a dessert, you won’t regret it.
We have been to Rief over 20 times. We just keep coming back ! The food is delightful, bursts with flavor and the staff are just amazing..
I love that they always have specials besides their regular menu.
Their Wagyu Sando is the yummiest ! Definitely recommended ..
One of the best Japanese Cuisine, nice ambiance they got varieties superb quality.
Not really a genuine Japanese dishes but good try! I ordered some Kushiyaki which tasted even better than Japanese authentic ones for some. And ramen was a little tasteless and the noodles is too soft. Definitely there is room for improvement but I am looking forward to seeing better quality Reif once again!
Reif Japanese Kushiyaki, Dar Wasl Mall, Al Wasl Road, Al Wasl, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. 5 dishes, 1 sparkling water (excluding service): AED329, US$90, EUR80, £69. tel. +971502357071. Great service, great menu knowledge. Raw Sea Bass in Yuzu Soy, Crispy Baby Squid Kushi Katsu, infamous Wagyu Sando
This is the my second time here. And it was for the Sanchoku Wagyu Sando. Its something else.. Worth every penny. Kushi angus beef as well. We ended up ordering another 1.Beef goyza is also nice. Definelty a favor
Some really delicious Japanese street food. Probably the only thing I didn't like was the fact that the ramen soup was too mildly spiced and mushroom claypot rice was a bit too oily and salty (for my own liking). Otherwise the food was excellent, fresh and well presented.
It’s superlative! Just go
High quality food and ingredients, delicious plates,, cool vibes, nice crown, and good location ...
Like the atmosphere food portion of the food everything perfect 👌🏻 recommendations to go and try
Price also good
Chef Reif brought this place into the most crowd place in dar al Wasl mall !!!!!!!! Everything just perfect and unfortunately couldn’t able to took a photos of kagoshima ramen and the meatball with onsen eggs cause over excited to try and worth every single penny! Definitely will comback
Amazing,so so delicious omg 😻👌🏽
Long waiting times because of relatively limited seating, but worth the wait! Staff are helpful and explained the menu well - picks that I'd recommend to try - Wagyu Sandwich, Wagyu Rice Bowl and spicy salmon roll!
Perfection in every morsel!
Must haves for when you go are the truffle mayo beef skewers, the chicken teriyaki skewers, the sea bass ceviche and the snickers inspired molten cake! I can’t wait to go back, yum! The wagyu sando was really good too (after I asked them to remove the mustard)
Nice small restaurant at Dar Wasl with a street food concept
On a busy day it’s hard to find a table and the waiting time kills your appetite
Staff are friendly and menu is rich
Food is great, tasty and Aesthetically pleasing
The drinks are also very satisfying
Highly recommended for Japanese cuisine lovers
Been twice & once for the desserts & coffee since they opened. Food is consistently good, getting a table however could be complicated, for that I suggest you plan ahead, either book a table or else be smart like me, have a coffee at be you or drop and go ahead of the opening hours 😄!
Now the food, but first water, cause they’ve a lovely concept where the water is st it’s cheapest compared to many restaurants. Oh & now the food, it’s all good, there’s not a thing that you’d not order, so if you are dining alone or are two people it could be a struggle on what to leave and what to order.
The melon, priced at 22/- for a slice, has taken over Dubai food scene & so has the Wagyu sandwich which is around 145/- I believe. These are compulsory orders, rest k recommend trying the beef skewers, they come with various toppings, my favorite are wasabi ones, dark and strong in taste.
For your mains if you’d like something lighter, get the chicken with clear broth dish, it’s a delicious wholesome meal, if you’re two then get the wagyu rice that’s served in a hot clay pot. Oh I almost forgot in my second trip I had the beef gyoza, absolutely brilliant!
For desserts, I would always suggest the chocolate one that has PB, cause it’s just delicious beyond words.
Honestly feel like your wasting time reading this review and all you need to do is get over there.
You may have to wait for a table but it's worth it. The food is amazing, we had the Sea bass ceviche, wagyu sancho and the mushroom hotpot. Each was exquisite, crafted to perfection and a joy to eat.
Definitely will be returning to try out the rest of the menu.

Dubai’s hottest new restaurant of the season just opened its doors a couple weeks ago and it’s already packed. Reif Othman, Dubai’s Singaporean chef darling – formerly of Zuma and Play – is back with his very own casual Japanese concept, Reif Kushiyaki, bringing his signature flair to Dar Wasl Mall.
Amazing food! Came back twice in the same week with different people and they loved it as much as me! Highly recommended, the food was innovative, fresh and tasty.
