Dear diary,
I was extremely thrilled and equally excited when I received an invitation for the “Bloggers Meet” organized by @cafefunkietown at their JLT Branch. I attended the event yesterday and it was an incredible experience, loaded with fun and frolic. It is always great to meet members of your fraternity and exchange thoughts on the on-going trends. We had a great time sharing our unique stories and adventures.
The cafe was a perfect spot for our get-together. The ambience was fantastic and the interiors were extremely beautiful. The Bollywood songs playing in the background were selected to match our moods.
I don’t want to comment on the food, as my mouth has already started watering at the sheer thought of it. (You can check out my post to see what I exactly mean!) We tried almost all the dishes on the menu and I can't choose what I liked the most. They were all lipsmacking and finger licking good!
I would like to convey my sincere thanks to @cafefunkietown for hosting us. You are simply the best!

What a wonderful experience to visit this beautifully designed restaurant. The theme is just perfect and the interior is mind-blowing also the menu has been perfectly set too.
We ordered Butter Paneer Masala and Dal amritsari which we found perfect in taste. We also tried Cheese Kulcha and Cheese naan amazing!!), they were so soft and the best I have had in a while.
Well cooked and flavoursome. All in all the food was nice. As delicious the food was, the portion sizes were decent too and price point is excellent.
Looking forward to trying out some more dishes soon!! A delightful experience ♥️
If I were to give a tagline to this place, it would be just simple…”leave all your worries behind, come and chill with us”
That’s the vibe of this place, JLT location (they have other outlets too) I got a chance to visit this place during a bloggers event. What a well spent afternoon, Zubin the owner, a perfect host, instantly made us comfortable with his chit chats and ofcourse FOOD was the highlight !
This place is a typical Bombay Parsi café serving authentic parsi and mumbaiya style food. So here you can satisfy your cravings right from Bun Maska to cheesy kulchas, Khaari and chai to Parsi rotli, bhindi crispy to prawn curry and Vada pav to Pizza.
You are sure to keep visiting this place for their drool worthy variety of food.
The cheesy kulcha and Paneer kulchas are a must try here. We had the Lal Maas which was an absolute hit. The vegetarian gravies Methi Malai Matar and Paneer Makhanwala, you gotta try these as well. The Pulaos and Naans as accompaniments are perfectly made and makes the food journey here totally worth. There were so many things which I was soo tempted to try but practically not possible at one go so I am definitely going here again for completing my must have list of food which I was left craving for.
All my reviews are based only after my personal experience of either using the products or consuming/reviewing the food.

Delicious
Based on delivery
Chicken Tandorri was good, they accepted my request for 2 breast pieces, so loved it.
The curries were good as well
Price
With the zomato offer it was super reasonable
We loved our visit to cafe funkie town some days back and on weekend we tried their delivery as we had some guests over.. used their website to order and got 20% off.. ordering was easy and their website had many options- parsi, Indian and Chinese.. we settled for Chinese and chose Hakka noodles, dry Manchurian veg and American chopsuey..
Order was delivered in time and packing was proper.. chpsuey was good portion and the food was shared by 4 adults and one child and it was just enough.. we all loved Manchurian and Veg Hakka noodles combo..
world of caution— Hakka noodles were spicy so my daughter could not eat it.. better inform the cafe if you need no spice..
We found the food good value for money as in less than 100 good lunch was done :-)
Will try their Parsi dishes next time ..

Loved our IWD coffee meet at Cafe Funkie Town. Staff were courteous and followed all Covid measures. Food was delicious. Best for me were the ginger tea and chilly cheese toast ... all the food was very good. We will be back for more meet ups soon.
I’m a usual customer, but today the paneer quality was excellent and the oil was lesser too. Love it!
Basically this restaurant has set the levels of parsi cuisine at its best. Really loved the food. So I had ordered Sheek Kebabs(4.5/5), Paneer Tikka Masala (5/5), Dal Makhani (5/5), Paneer Schezwan Frankie(4.5/5) Along with Veg Biryani (4.5/5). Really appreciate the service and the ambiance of the restaurant was amazing.
I had never tried parsi food and this was my first time. THE Dhansak rice was delicious! Not much spicy and sweet , only tasty! The quantity is also so good. Had ordered a meal which had paneer makhani, roti, dal rice and salad. Loved the food.
PS: We were so hungry that did not have the time to click pictures🤤
Need to taste more of these parsi food😍
Everything is good and yummy.
Cafe Funkie Town in JLT is one of the best experiences of typical Mumbai style and Parsi style cuisines. Every dish handed out to customers is one of the best tasting and I can bet you will have a similar experience. Their chefs has magic recipes. They serve simple homemade type food but the taste is amazing right from the starters, Main courses and Desserts. They have looked into lot of finer details like the maska pav to go well with their Kheema.
I tried their starters with Mutton cutlets which they added a dash of egg for better flavor, Ajwain Fish Tikka which was very soft and succulent & the smell itself was very aromatic, Harra Paneer Tikka which was very nicely marinated. I tried their Paneer Tikka and Chicken Tikka Frankie which was outstanding. Whatever they filled stuffing inside, we craved for more and more. The Chicken Tikka Salad was very refreshing.
In Main course we had the Kheema with Bun Maska which no one should miss, typical Parsi restaurant style which we miss of Bombay, Bhindi Masala was also very delicious along with rotis and the Fish curry was out of this world, a south Indian style coconut gravy curry not only perfected but improvised by their Chef. Have this with plain rice so as to enjoy the rich taste of the curry.
I also tried their Khari Biscuit, Jeera Butter and Naan Khatai, this was like visiting a restaurant in Colaba Mumbai.
For the sweet ending I had their Kulfi Falooda which was very heavenly.
Overall experience was such that I definitely want to visit this place and take my friends and business associates to enjoy the good taste without burning a big hole in our pockets.
Initially we had a bad experience from this place long time back and then yesterday again we thought to give a another try and ordered Rajmah , Dal Makhani & Matar malai methi.
And food was really amazing and completely felt like home made food.
Really liked it and would try their non veg dishes also.
A wonderful restaurant with a very cosy environment overlooking the park. “It’s A Great mini restaurant for kids , located in a great location of JLT. The food itself is very diverse as their menu is not large but just enough to water your mouth with their tasty delicious dishes. I personally love Indian food and had gone here to try PARSI FOOD. Being of Iranian origin myself, I never tried Parsi Indian food. It was a eye catcher for me and I can say that 5 hours after eating this food , I still feel full and happy!!! Thankyou cafe Funkie town!
My regular place for Tea, Bun maska and for all other meals from Breakfast to Dinner 😀. Good hygiene, high quality Ingredients and delicious food.
I love it. Highly recommended.
Just as the name says, cafe funkie town is a funky cafe nestled in the cluster of Jumeirah Lake Towers. The ambience is set in Bollywood style with a team of friendly staffs to delight the mood of customers.
Parsi food is their speciality along with Indian street food, and they served Lagan nu Custard (5/5), Chicken grill platter (4/5), passion fruit Mojito (5/5), pav bhaji (5/5), prawn patiyo (5/5), Parsi omelette (5/5). It is a perfect place to lay your hands-on, authentic Parsi food.
We were thinking to try this place from long and this weekend we have tried their Paneer Tikka Masala , Tangdi Kebab & Rumali Roti.
Paneer Tikka Masala : It was really very tasty and very well cooked. Paneer was very soft. (Must Try)
Tangdi Kebab : Really very tender chicken and liked the taste so much.
Rumali roti : Soft.
Prices are on higher side though quality is really justifying that.
Would love to try couple of more options soon.
The food arrived on time, was hot. It was well packed. The food itself was really nice, I ordered the food to be not too spicy, just the way I like it- you can actually taste the spices and the food, not just the chillies. And that is the way the food tasted. Will definitely be ordering from here again!

We wanted to try a new place that too Indian food so thought of giving Funkie cafe a try we ordered Chicken Frankie, sali boti, rogan josh and mix grill platter. Loved chicken frankie it is one there most popular dish and now i know why. Rogan josh and sali boti was amazing. Loved the tender meat and flavorful gravy. I was not impressdd by the mix grill platter. It was okay nothing special.
We tried various dishes here, starting with the Chicken Tikka Chilli Cheese Toast, its Cheese melted on toasted bun bread with chicken tikka toppong, stuffed with onion, tomatoes, sprinkled with coriander & chillies . The Chicken tikka Frankie, i tasted here were the best i ever had. Brilliantly prepared Tikka garnished with onion, capsicum with spices n wrapped in a roasted with beated egg. These two are a must have. Mutton cutlets is another hit dish. Mutton mince is mixed with onion, chilli, mint leaves, rooled in beaten eggs, dredged in crumbs n fried.
Another amazing appetizer is The Harra Paneer Tikka Paneer served here is marinated with indian spices and perfectly grilled, paneer was so tender, lovely marination and it was something very special. Tagdi kebab, Succulent drumsticks cooked in tandoor. Ajwaini Fish Tikka, boneless pieces of fish marinated in Indian spices and carom seeds. No words can describe fabulous taste of all these appetizers. You need to have it to experience it.
One of my favorite restaurants and I've never been disappointed. I have tried a lot of their food from the menu
- Akuri Pav
- Kheema Pav
- Mutton Chops
- Veg Dhansak
- Sali Boti
- Veg Parsi Pulao Daal
- Laal Maas
- Paneer Makhanwala
- Yellow Dal Tadka
The decor is really nice and gives you the 80's feel. The service is fantastic and never faced delays with delivery too. A place I'd definitely recommend.
One of the most underrated café in JLT area, we visited the place with couple of friends of ours for some drinks and snacks. For the snacks, we had their chicken and mutton frankies which were both absolutely delicious and tender. The chicken schezwan frankie was our favourite, it was spicy and filled with onions and the chicken was cooked perfectly, the mutton boti frankie was also super spicy and succulent. We also tried their chicken tikka cheese toast which was absolutely delicious filled with cheese and succulent chicken tikka. We also tried their cappuccino which was really delicious. And if you ever visit the cafe you should try their washroom they have super funny writings on the wall.
Dear Followers and fellow Zomatians, I am revising my review to the rightly deserving rating for this restaurant.
The reason for revising this review is the assurance Zomato and specially the restaurant owner has ensured on us Zomato consumers to trust this to be an exception and it could never repeat again for anyone.
I was disappointed and furious due to the fact that ordering from this restuarant was usual for us but to our lowest expectations it wasn't delivered to the par of requirements.
However, the kind gesture and a delicious meal delivered by the restaurant management made our day !
We hope they keep up this good quality for all their orders that we all continue to place with them. Wishing them good luck in their endeavor and thanking once again for their kind understanding.
A must order and their signature menu :
Dal Makhani
Paneer Hariyali
Veg Berry Pulao
Lachcha Butter Naan
Royal Falooda - tempting, must try !
Check out the latest photos posted by me !
I ordered akuri pav and keema pav, and both were amazing!
Just amazing.. when we miss home food or classical parsee food its always funkie town.. firstly right from their owners to their floor staff they are nothing but courteous helpfull and super friendly.. always ask for Danish he is really friendly and knws the food.
My recommendation: anything under the parsee menu but u have to eat the bun maska chai and the kheema pattice..
This place came highly recommended from colleagues for their authentic parsi food. Ordered from here for lunch.
Khari Biscuits (Must try. A perfect snack to go with chai. Super light and tasty)
Bhindi Crispy Fry (Highly Recommend. The okra was batter fried to a crisp and tasted delish)
Garlic Naan (Good)
Paneer Bhurji with Bun Maska (Must try. I had bun maska for the first time and fell in love with the way it was made. Went really well with the paneer bhurji)
Pav Bhaji (No fuss)
Laal Batata (Really enjoyed the way these potatoes were made. Wasn’t too spicy)
Well-portioned food. Reasonably priced. I highly recommend this place to have some delicious parsi food. Overall, a great experience.
Placed an order here for some of their bestsellers as suggested by the call taker for a mix of Indian, Parsi and Bombay classics. Gotta say I loved the food here. The kheema par eidu(kheema +egg 5/5) served with bun maska was one of my favorites. Loved the mutton seekh kabab(5/5) too. We also ordered the Patra Ni Machchi(4/5), chicken tikka masala(5/5) and egg pulao(4/5). The delivery reached us on time, the call takers were friendly and loved the food. Cant wait to return.
My overall rating is 4.5
This restaurant is a hidden gem in JLT Cluster Q area. A Bollywood themed restaurant pays homage to the Iranian cafes of old Mumbai with its vintage décor, quirky slogans, and walls adorned with yesteryear photos really surprised me. If you are a bollywood movie freak, I bet you’ll fall in love with the ambiance.
Our orders :
1. Dhansak Mutton (5/5) is a popular Indian dish, originating among the Parsi Zoroastrian community. It combines elements of Persian and Gujarati cuisine. Slowly cooked boneless mutton meat with a mixture of lentils and vegetables, served with the finest fragrant Basmati rice which was browned to perfection. At 55 dhs absolute value for money.
2. Berry pulao. 4.5/5. A flavorful pulao made extra tasty with the addition of dried cranberries. rice cooked with whole spices, layered with saffron and cranberries to create an interesting delicacy, accompanied by a side of salad and raita.
3. Salli boti (4.5/5) chicken (Boti) gravy garnished with deep fried matchsticks potato (That’s called salli), another master piece from Parsi cuisine . Goes very well with laccha parantha served hot with a thin layer of ghee. Price 38 dhs.
4. Patrani machhi (5/5). A big sized white pomfret was marinated with green coriander, mint chutney with grated coconut and wrapped in a banana leaf, steamed to perfection. You might need to add a pinch of salt to adjust your taste buds. A must try for sea fish lovers comes with a price tag of 38 dhs well justified.
5. Rose strawberry mojito. (4/5) very refreshing in taste both rose & strawberry flavor equally felt with slight citric with a presence of a lemon slice. Price tag 17 dhs
6. Dessert suggested by the café and Laga-nu custard (5/5)- which is full of caramel and almonds is a perfect show stopper of the day. Low sweetened custard full of nutty feels, you remember the taste for long time for sure.
While I was going through the menus, felt to order some Veg items as well but will definitely try another day for sure.
Took some photos of other dishes which looks great.
Highly recommended to you if not tried so far.
This is one of the best restaurants in Dubai, overall. The Mithaiwallas family is behind this resurgence of Parsi cuisine restaurant in Dubai. In addition, they are specialists of North Indian dastarkhan.
The seating area outside is between a small garden type area, which is quite a nice ambience. The inner area transports you to a courtyard of another time and space. Yesteryear's classic images adorn the walls and the fantastically funky slogans and banners even in the washrooms bring on a delightful smile in your mouth.
The service is numero uno here. Mr. Anil, from uttarakhand, looked after us like long lost friends and suggested nice dishes.
● The parsis are a special ethnic community with a distinct cuisine, from Iranian origin. Here in Funky town, JLT, they have kept the true essence of the heritage alongwith variaous types of starters breakfast, Bombay styled chinese, Breads, Norh Indian delicacies, desserts, different types of drinks, vegetarian and non vegetarian items, pulaos- in short a mini Indian cosmos.
●Our orders-
1. ● Dhanshak Mutton. Classic and best known parsi dish. At 55 dhs, It was my best loved item in this restaurant. A slow cooked lentil preparation in which soft mutton or chicken cubes are cooked to perfection over a long period of time. This is paired with a slow browned rice. 5/5.
2. Salli boti. 38 dhs for the chicken version. 4.5/5. Another legendary item. Salli means thin matchstick potatoes deep fried. They are mixed with a chicken gravy to give that distinctive taste.
3. Patra ni machhi. In this the white pomfret is at 38 dhs and other white fishes at 28 dhs. Our pomfret was marinated with green coriander and mint chutney and wrapped in a banana leaf , then steamed to perfection. This one is an acquired taste. It grew upon us by the time we finished it. 4/5.
The special marinated chutney with ginger stems was great.
4. Berry pulao. 4/5. Anar danas are the speciality parsi berri seeds here which adds to the taste and looks good.
• We also had some looks at the Bhuna chicken, Hakka noodles, Schezuan fried rice, Chicken tangdi and they looked lip smacking good. Some have great looks, specially the tangdi. We had some taste of the other cuisines by having the ● magnificent lachha parathas. Must have.
5. Masala soda. In 12 dhs , served in a jar. Very tasty and good in quantity.
6. Rose strawberry mojito. 15 dhs. Excellent thirst quencher.
The whole dining experience was very smooth and relaxing. We are very sure that whosoever comes here hungry will go back perfectly satiated.
●We finished with the top of the class Laga nu custard- which is a variation of the ever popular caramel custard. Truly special. 5/5.
And finally the large masala teas served in the typical mumbai isshtyle, glasses. An evening well spent.
Wonderul place for ambience, internal decor , surroundings and service.
Lovingly recommended.
Chicken Sali boti tops the chart.
Loved it. Very well made .
Chicken grill platter - grills need to be more tender .
Chicken kebab- A must try .
Lamb Briyani - portion size is good, well made .
Chicken tikka Frankie - well made. A layer of egg/ omelette would enhance the taste.
All together a good experience.
Would definitely recommend this place.

Highly recommended for taste and ambience outside ...
Cute Mumbai style Parsi cuisine restaurant. Yummy bun maska with tea, sali boti, masala fries, Lagan nu custard. Nice outdoor play area right next door to keep the kids entertained.
Tasted their Chinese cuisine yesterday; it was awesome!. The Money Bag (crispy fried casing with a prawn filling) as well as their Szechwan sauce were the best I’ve ever had. The Chicken Fried Rice and Szechwan Chicken Dry gravy were great too! Will be revisiting soon to try out their other Chinese dishes & more this great place has to offer. It’s a must try for Chinese cuisine & Bombay Parsi cuisine lovers from all backgrounds!
I ordered Rose Falooda, and wasn't happy with the quality of it. I complained and the next day they compensated by resending me the Rose Falooda again. This time it was really good and was glad with their prompt service!

Accidental discovery. Nice little parsi cafe. The bun maska and masala chai reminded me of college days. Visit to Cafe Funky Town in JLT
Food was very homely.. it's has no added preservatives or colour .. food is prepared fresh and taste like ghar ka khana.. it's tasty. Has ample of variety for veg and non veg .. you can definitely try Parsi cuisine and not go back disappointed.
th decor takes you back to bollywood in 70s.
The quantity of the food is little less.. but taste wins over that .
Definitely value for money.
Tried veg jalfrezi, veg makhanwala , garlic Naan , murgapudi fries.
