Al Maskoof Al Iraqi is an Iraqi restaurant in Hor Al Anz which I feel cheated by. Although I called ahead and was assured they had a suitably sized Masgouf (or Maskoof) fish for our group of three (that’s about a 2 /2.5-kilo fish) when we got there we were told the only fish they had was a 4-kilo fish. No problem, I said, we’ll take half. The supervisor flatly refused, saying we would have to wait an hour for a smaller fish. The same thing happened with my credit card. I specifically asked if they accepted cards (when I called) and was assured they do, yet when our bill was brought to us, I was told we had to pay cash because their machine was not working. I really don’t understand why some restaurants feel the need to resort to such shameful tactics.

Kabab Iraqi is the best thing to have there and Maskoof fish. However the its very expensive and over priced but still its worth to try.<br/><br/>Best Iraqi restaurants in town

I first experienced maskoof in 2007 by our iraqi consultant. Since then, from eating here weekly ive reduced to twice a month. Not because the taste is less mouth watering but because it is- i cant stop eating everything. Body issues.<br/><br/>From the complimentary appetizers and free tea refill?what is not to like? When eating here try their khouzi, masgoof and kebab. Try eating it with their okra and eggplant.<br/><br/>If your are not so hungry make sure you bring at a minimum 2 friends because their servings are huge.

We were invited there for fish lunch. The fish was huge ! If I knew is going to be so big , wouldn’t taking biryani. <br/>The place from outside looks quite simple and poor , but inside beautiful. <br/>

When you go there just order their meat shawarma!! Extra tahini, my GOD sooo good, good size for a quickie snack. Chicken is also good, they used to have garlic sauce and mixing garlic sauce and tahini is the best combo.<br/>K thanks bye

Totally worth a meaty evening with freshly baked breads or cooked rice! Quality absolutely nailed the pricy menu serving reasonably delicious and well quantified portions of traditional iraqi grilled dishes served to be absolutely filling for at least two persons per plate/dish.<br/><br/>PS: The meat shawermas on a personal note have been a consistently savored sandwich!

We have always been regulars at the Sharjah branch but we had guests staying near this area so we decided to go to this branch instead. There's more space here for the family room and the chairs and tables are quite fancy compared to Sharjah. Other than that, the staff are just as friendly and attentive as Sharjah's branch and the food is consistently delicious.

Went here to grap snacks and finally bought meat shawarma. TBH no mayo and stuff , I like it that way . The meat was fresh and tasty . I felt I<br/>The shawarma was really fresh and the restaurant was crowded inside and out . <br/>Good service too 👍🏼

One of our friend suggested to try out this restaurant and we had half charcoal chicken, chicken shawarma, hummus with pine. The food took a while to be prepared and the taste were just fine enough. The price of the grill high compared to other restaurants.

Maskoof restaurant is a hidden gem - Masgouf (grilled carp) an Iraqi specialty, and one of my favoured versions of grilled fish, prepared in a wood fire oven, visually appetizing and the smoky flavour is like nothing else you may have eaten in a long time.<br/><br/>The restaurant serves other grilled meats as well, while fish is the specialty. <br/><br/>The decor is beautiful and quaint, an easy ambience, relatively good parking area, tucked away in Hor al anz for eons. <br/><br/>If you enjoy eating fish & want to try something different this is a must visit in Dubai.

Good maskoof and dolma and Iraqi food in general. Make sure you call ahead and order the maskoof half an hour before you reach as it takes time to grill. A number of menu items were not available when we came to order. We ordered a mix appetizer selection and it all came in one big platter which I hate as everything ends up mixing together and most of it is thrown away, would have been better if it all came in separate plates. Ample parking available in front is a plus as parking is difficult in the area.

Muskoof (or masgoof) is a typical Iraqi dish, served when you want to spoil your guests or decorate a dinner table with a beautifully cooked large fish ideal for sharing.<br/><br/>Having tried the majority of Iraqi restaurants in the UAE, Muskoof is a go-to place where you know there's always a fish available and consistently made well.It's the Iraqi's choice of Iraqi restaurant and it doesn't disappoint. I don't recommend the other dishes unless you want to experiment, this is one of those places that excels at one thing, and boy do they excel.<br/><br/>A quick call before hand will help determine if they can get the fish ready (worth calling at least an hour before) and a 3kg fish will serve around 4 people.<br/><br/>The Fish comes with fantastic Iraqi bread, and occasionally Khobz laham (bread impregnated with meat) that taste great, and an assortment of vegetables, lemon for the fish and the essential item for any masgoof 'Amba' which is a mango pickle.<br/><br/>Once done, you are served with a dark, brewed Iraqi tea that is the perfect end to a great meal. Iraqi food isn't particularly complicated, but for the other dishes go to the staples like Bait al Baghdadi or Samad, but if it's the fish you want, then Muskoof in Deira is the way to go.
