Customer parking is not available either. Very noisy kitchen if choosing to sit upstairs. I wish the staff had thought of this in mind and recommend us to sit downstairs as the restaurant was empty. The noise is like construction work. Restaurant very quiet during dinner peak hours, barely any diners. Sad and clear sign that something needs improving. Service mediocre. Wanted to use Repeat, the young man on the counter pretended to scan it - but still gave a full price bill. We didn’t realise the fraud until later on and it was already too late. I placed an order today for 2 of my work colleagues and myself. I asked to keep the order ready and sent my driver to pick the food as I was very hungry. As my colleagues are non Srilankan I request to make the food without any spiciness and I ordered a beef rice and curry. When I got the food to hand and open they have send me a tub full of rice almost 200-300g or more and few small tubs with curry, no gravy and no beef curry. And my colleagues food were spicy as I could see many chilly flakes well. When I called the restaurant the call was pass to one guy, assume he is the in-charge, and said it's a mistake from Kitchen. When I asked him send the curry soon as am hungry. Even after 1.5-2hrs no call or no curry delivered. Then I call them and till then also they have not sent anything as agreed. I told the person to collected the food as I hv waited till 3 and not required any food as my lunch has passed and I had to carry on my work. They offered to send me dinner or next day lunch. I refused the both and even I don't want the money. Am highly disappointed and don't think I will order with them again.

Ordered a roast chicken kottu but the portion is too small. No complains about the taste. The presentation is horrible. It comes in a plastic grocery bag and no cutlery. Not worth the money.

Visited this Sri Lankan cuisine restaurant. They have a good variety of the Sri Lankan specialities. <br/><br/>Stir Fried Cuttle Fish (Highly Recommend. Batter fried cuttle fish, stir fried with dried red chillies in a hot butter sauce)<br/>Deviled Prawns (Though the prawns were cooked well, it was just spicy and lacked other flavours)<br/>String Hoppers with Sambol & Dhal (Must try. 8 small pieces of soft string hoppers, served with coconut sambol and Dhal)<br/>Roasted Chicken Koththu (Must try. Flaky Parathas chopped into tiny pieces, sautéed with onions, green chillies and roasted chicken bits)<br/>Woodapple smoothie (The smoothie was a bit watery, which would’ve been great otherwise)<br/>Black Tea with ginger (Ginger infused black tea was the perfect way to end my heavy meal)<br/><br/>Well-portioned food at reasonable prices. No social distancing practiced at all. Tables are not even one meter apart. During the buffet, its out in the open and servers are not wearing gloves and some of them do not even wear masks properly. I will only return after the pandemic, if that ever happens.

Ordered Chicken Kothhu, Deviled Chicken, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Egg Hopper and Vegetable Egg Noodles. Deviled chicken was really spicy, saucy and yum; ordered two servings! Egg Hopper was good; had never tried one before so was quite interesting. Apart from those two dishes; rest all were quite mediocre and average.

On entering, the restaurant has some Sri Lankan style art work & deco across the walls which seemed pretty cool. Even though we seen the negative reviews on Zomato , we decided to give it a go and hoped for my experience from the past.<br/><br/>We tried 2 items on display -fish balls and stuffed Chilli. Fish balls could have been crispier. The stuffed Chilli was the only good item of the night. <br/><br/>For mains we ordered Beef Kothu Roti, 2 Hoppers (egg and regular) and beef curry. Both the beef dishes were extremely salty. The beef curry was really spicy, which I didn’t mind but the saltiness made it very difficult for me to eat. The hoppers weren’t enjoyable either. They were too hard and didn’t even come at an average level in terms of taste.<br/><br/>I had eaten at this restaurant years ago and really enjoyed myself back then. It’s our first time having Srilankan cuisine and no better place to begin with. Chef Lanka has been around for about 20 years serving some authentic and traditional Srilankan dishes across many branches in Dubai. They have now renovated the Karama branch and have totally got a new look in their interiors along with some spacious dining area. The menu is very elaborate and has a lot of dishes to try here. We started off with the sweet corn soup and some garden salad which was very refreshing to begin with, as they have used fresh vegetables for the salad. One of the main specialist food here is the hoppers, which in india we call as appam. You can either have a plain hopper or Egg mixed with it. The seafood noodles, is a good option for seafood lovers as it is served in a very good portion to share. One of the best dishes i tried here is the devil chicken and Sauce prawns with chili sauce, a spicy dish that i totally loved having. You must definitely try it here if you are ok with some yummy spicy food. They have also included Crab in their menu which is fried along with chili and egg. You could also opt for Butter sauce if you wish. Another authentic dish here is the Koththu, which is basically cooked with Roti and vegetables. It is one of their best sellers, and we chose Beef Koththu from their options. They also serve wood-apple juice, which is very good for digestion. Ending on a good note, we had their custard with jelly dessert. An amazing restaurant to visit along with some great staff service and vibrant ambiance.

One of worst dinner i had .i have order appa was dry and not cook well as well not same like before we was check with waiter did they change the cook was before appa was so good and we order godamba roti was came very late we was wait till our hand dry its came with chicken curry was not same as before something different look.like chicken add to (polos curry grave) we check with waiter what a wrong with the spicy chicken curry he answer chicken grave was finish we cook something new he answer make us shock and i conform my self its sure something polos curry grave to add chicken.so embarrassing and they didn't panic to answer like that .one of worse dinner and i am suffer also food allergy after dinner .we will never go there anymore

The only thing ok about this place was that staff was Courteous. Everything else was below par. Food was below average and most of the items in the Menu were Indo/Chinese. Ended up having a super flop dinner with family

Amazing srilankan food at affordable. Not a big fan of the other food but I mainly always go for the string hoppers with spicy prawn curry. The sambal is an amazing combination with the string hoppers and prawn curry.

The place is great! The hospitality is really good, the people are friendly as well as the food is wholesome and flavorful. You must order the lump rice, I believe one order will be able to feed the two of you, unless you’re really hungry. It’s a good place all in all!

One of the best places once upon a time where the authentic cuisine was once served,however everything has changed now.i.e (management,staff,cooks )etc. I have always eaten from here since 2013 when Shane David the then manager was handling the restaurant and even advised my friends n family to dine / take away from CHEF LANKA!! Recently I had ordered beef fried rice for my guests for dinner and to my horrific sight I noticed that the quantity was very less and to beat that I was fabbished to know that was was delivered was half eaten. I had no two ways to drive back to the restaurant to confront them,and when I did the manager incharge Tyron was not following his duties of respecting a customer spoke with a casual attitude not realising I had guests at home and said he will refund the money and re-cook the food which I declined. Theres was even a person from the management who said he will rectify everything going forward by taking pictures and etc,which I totally disagree.Honestly the management hasn't ventured to change or respect for their customers. I completely disagree with this restaurant and to whoever wants to order from here going forward remember its pricing is high and service is Zero in terms of quality and quality. First time I ordered from Cheff Lanka , none of the food tasted like srilankan food, being a Srilankan I was so excited to taste the food. This restaurant is a shame for Srilankan taste . Worse part was kotturotti was like carrot rotti, stuffed with whole bunch of carrots in it, we never had such style of preparation in Srilanka , I don’t even wanna give 1 star to this place

I had recently come back from Bali and wanted to try some nasi goreng and got to know from a friend that this place was perfect for trying the same. This was my first time trying the food over here and the waiter was very helpful in explaining what each dish was.<br/><br/>We ordered the chicken nasi goreng along with vegetable fried noodles. The taste was just perfect..... spicy according to my requirement. We also ordered some ambarella and passion fruit juices which were both very refreshing and delicious. <br/><br/>The only problem i had with the restaurant was that the interiors were very suffocating and cave-like. Taking into consideration their amazing clientale as the restaurant was full during lunch even on a working day they should definitely expand their restaurant. Other than that, the food was very good, the service was quick and I had a nice experience.

They were clueless as to where the delivery boy has reached and kept confirming to us that he is unreachable.<br/><br/>In totality a big miss by Chef Lanka team with regards to food quality and quantity. Chef Lanka is a nice homely set-up, where in, if you are a Sri-Lankan you will immediately connect .<br/>The paintings on the wall, the staff and the food , all remind you of home.<br/>The food is very tasty, especially the crabs and the cuttle fish. <br/>The food is very reasonably priced and the quality and quantity of the food is really good.<br/>The staff are very friendly and this restaurant is perfectly located in the heart of Karama.<br/>Parking is also not an issue since they have a huge D parking opposite the restaurant.<br/>They also have buffets of the local cuisine and live cooking downstairs.<br/>But apart from all of that, the main reason to come back to this place , is the tasty food and the sense of being at home.

This is a lovely lil Lankan place that serves some really good food! Would highly recommend the batter fried cuttlefish and the hoppers! This place will definitely take you back to Sri Lanka when you hear the kothu being prepared.

Delivery normally takes 2 hours, so I think you guys should change your deliver time between 1:30 - 2:00 hours so not to disappoint your customers.

Terrible service. I have placed the order at 9pm. It’s close to 11pm now. And I’m still awaiting the receipt of my order. Horrible! I have been calling the restaurant and they have been saying we will receive the order in 5 minutes for nearly 45 minutes now. Never order here.

First visit here. We were skeptical and unsure, but pleasantly surprised. Small joint with very lovely fresh food Prepared. We ordered nasi goreng, egg noodles, devilled prawns, crispy cuttle fish in hot butter sauce. All the items were very well prepared in a reasonable time, and reasonably priced. The service was polite and professional. Definitely a good shot for those who haven’t tried it. <br/>On the down side the interiors and seating needs an upgrade.

Inv #36138<br/><br/>I ordered from Chef Lanka yesterday delighted with finding a rare Sri Lankan restaurant. Requested for a take away Nasigoreng, Beef Fried Rice and French Fries (special request out of the menu). I had trouble giving the order to the miss on the phone but I was grateful that she was being patient with me however I was very disgusted by how the supervisor spoke to her when she needed help taking my order. He was very rude and impolite, continued to be unnecessarily aggressive over the phone with me as well. They didn’t realize that I could understand their language because I ordered in English.<br/><br/>Nevertheless the Nasigoreng and Beef Fried Rice was quite a delight to taste. Its authentic Sri Lankan fuming through your meal. I enjoyed it very much and its a must have. Lifted my mood up and I’m very thankful for reminding what spicy cooking really is.<br/><br/>The french fries was quite disappointing. I do understand that its difficult to deliver french fries but there are better ways to package it so that it maintains its crispiness. It was undercooked and soggy. Very unappetizing. <br/><br/>Overall apart from the french fries and the uncomfortable ordering, I did enjoy my meals and their reputation upholds for good Sri Lankan tastes however I’d prefer not to order again if people don’t have any regard for having appropriate connections with a customer.

Our Sri Lankan friend kept insisting that we should try out this place and so we finally did! As a group of 5, we got place quite easily because we arrived at 10:30pm.<br/><br/>We chose what seemed to be the popular choices as most tables were ordering the same and our Sri Lankan friend recommended the same. We had Hot Butter Cuttlefish, hoppers, Nasi Goreng and Kothu Roti. <br/>The Hoppers were a great way to tantalize our palate, especially since it came with a chili sambal and an onion sambal. The cuttlefish was one of the most unique dishes I’ve tasted recently. There’s a popcorn-like quality to it which makes you keep going back for more! The nasi Goreng was a strange dish to see in a Sri Lankan restaurant because I’m accustomed to seeing it in Far East Asian countries. The Kothu Roti reminded me of the Kothu paratha that I’ve eaten in Keralite restaurants as it is torn-up Roti/paratha mixed with veg/non veg and stir fried.<br/><br/>For our drinks, we had orange juice and milo. Both were great, but a little too sweet.<br/><br/>Overall, GREAT food at a very reasonable price! 👍🏻 I’m definitely coming back for more!

Delivery took over an hour. Distance was just 1.5 kms which should not take more than 5 minutes. On Zomato it was mentioned 45 ~ 50 delivery time.

Small spot well known amongst the sri Lankan community for authentic sri Lankan food. Ambience is alright.. does not do justice to the food served but is fine for an informal meet up with casual friends.<br/>The kottu and 'sri Lankan Chinese' dishes stand out. The fried rice and hot butter cuttle fish taste very good. String hoppers and coconut sambol is a must have with potato gravy and a spicy curry. Food is generally nice and spicy, so make sure to let the server know ur spice levels.<br/>Staff are friendly and accommodating

Worst possible delivery service I have experienced. I’m a vegetarian and have specified for my dishes to be made vegetarian but on multiple occasions the food has arrived with seafood and egg. They are always late and I have had issues arguing with delivery people about whether I paid via cash or card. Food is incredible but not sure if it is worth the hassle.

Amazing food and we really enjoyed it. I loved everything in it well balance and really worth the amount paid for highly recommend. Home delivered in quick time. <br/>

Have always been a fan of Nasi goreng, came across this restaurant in my quest for good nasi goreng. <br/><br/>The delivery was done within 40 mins and the food was hot when it reached me. the packing was good and they had kept the necessary cuttlery too. <br/><br/>The dish looked absolutely delectable and looks were not deceiving at all. It was really yummmm with loads of prawns and chicken. The rice was also really flavourful. The quantity is food. <br/><br/>The only suggestion would be to keep a side of sambal to this.

Good polite staff and good parking space....devil prawns and fish curry were both delicious with good quantity and value for money. Interior is very old and worn off...looks like a 50 year old restaurant from inside with no maintenance and old uncomfortable chairs and tables. Very poor lighting inside. Seems like they just want people to takeaway or get home delivered !

As an Indonesian, am happy to find out an authentic/real and best Nasi Goreng in Dubai!!!! Even far better than what they served in Indonesian restaurants in Dubai...They just need to add the garlic cracker and emping !!!!

For Sri Lankan’s, where else but Chef Lanka! My all time favorite is nothing but the seafood chopsuey! That spicy ness just hits right at the perfect spot! <br/><br/>For us, and anyone out there, if you are looking for authentic Lankan cuisine, this is the one stop place! Try their hot butter cuttle fish which is a Lankan favorite! Overall, chef lanka has never disappointed me! Kudos to that!

I’ll give them 1 star for this. Told them through zomato chat to make it not that spicy. It was delivered just now but this is too much. I love Deviled Chicken too much but they lost one customer now. Will definitely not order again.

Took 2 hours and 40 minutes to get the order. Food is decent, just takes too long. If you order be prepared to wait for a while and be constantly told it’s on the way.

As In search for the worlds different cuisine, I wanted to explore the Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 one. You get here all sorts of lankan food. But what took me off guard was that their food is seriously spicy 🌶! <br/>-Ambience: the dining area has a gateway board saying “best of galle” which when I asked them happens to be a famous place in 🇱🇰. But still the place could get better. <br/>-staff: Our host was very courteous man. He helped us out on the menus. The service was good. <br/>-Food: though it may appear similar to Indian, but the taste and spices were different. It was nice but really spicy. I liked the fish bun and the beef dish. I am not entirely happy with the food. Could see improvement. <br/>Overall It’s a place worth trying once. But I still see this place could be get better.

Worst buffet ever. By 1.30 pm the buffet was empty and the service was hopeless. When we complained about the food the management was very extremely rude. Really disappointed about the food and the service. Not worth to be in business hereafter.

They called to inform that 3 out of the 4 items ordered were unavailable, so I asked them to cancel the order. They really must update their menu on Zomato.

Certain items on the online menu was unavailable to deliver according to the restaurant. They informed over a phone call. I substituted those items with Fish Patties, which turned out to be overly salty. The Seeni Sambal bun was great!

Had lunch here.. they have buffet lunch and a la carte menu. There is a lot of food choices in the buffet and 1 dessert item which is cream caramel. Food is ok, not that much spicy which is good for me since I’m not eating that much spicy food. Price for the buffet is reasonable and affordable.

Had the Saturday lunch buffet with family. Delicious Sri Lankan food with prefect rice and curry combinations. Hope if they had Sri Lankan fruits for dessert but still fine.... good value for money

Ordered food today at Chef Lanka at 1:28pm through Zomato. Even after 2 hrs no delivery. Complained to Zomato, only feedback is restaurant will call. Nobody called. Called the restaurant 3:24pm they said they will check and call back, no response. 4:00pm delivery guy calls. By this time we went out for lunch. What a waste of time for a lunch order. Neither Zomato nor the restaurant were sorting the issue out. All Zomata did was give me 8 credits. 8 credits for waiting 3 hrs for restaurant their partnered with and we need to starve for their inefficiencies.

I order food they delivered it almost on time but i was just concerned of the packaging it was not well packed and the sauce spilled on the plastic

I ordered my food at 8.20 with the commitment of it being delivered by 9.19 and after numerous follow ups and calls it came at 10 and ice cold. Considering the fact I live within 2kms it wud have been better if walked to it and back.<br/>The food was awesome but the very fact it was 100 minutes plus too long was enough to make it less appealing.<br/>I doubt I would ever order for home delivery again.

Waiting for 1.5 hours to get the meals until I called the restaurant and got to know that they just saw the order and the lady who picked up the phone told me I have to wait another one hour to get the meal. Best service!

I have been here a couple of times earlier but never reviewed this place. So here is my review on this restaurant based on my last visit. Since their food is very similar to South Indian cuisine and I'm a South Indian myself, one might think it's hard to satisfy a hungry soul. Well........ They fell short of my expectation this time. Food was good, ambience was not so good and service was slow. I'm rating them three purely on food taste only, Other areas they need to improve immediately. Cuttlefish fry and kotthu parotta is their specialty.

I have never tried Sri lankan cuisine and now that i have am madly in love with it.. Tried the spicy seafood soup, perfectly made , spicy , sweet .. the taste would just make u go wallaa.. On my top 3 restaurants :)

As a sri Lankan, no one can be more critical about sri Lankan based food than us. I have been missing kottu for a long time. So as I was passing Karama, I remembered passing this place once. So hopped in, ordered a beef kottu with extra veges and a lime juice. And boy was I happy when I saw the plate of kottu being brought in. And oh boy was I even happier when it tasted good. So yes. Thank you Chef Lanka for helping me miss home a little less. Keep up this quality.<br/><br/>Edit: also in terms of delivery, I have yet to receive a delivery on time. Nothing to complain about the good though

Nasi Goreng is Amazing, they just need to work on their delivery time!

we ordered string hopper kottu and normal chicken kottu from Chef Lanka. delivery was done on time but the food really blew us off.. being a srilankan myself we couldn't eat it as it was soo spicy. really disappointed as it was so spicy that we could feel our ears burning. if it was less spicy it would have been tasty. so if u don't like spicy food please avoid them as if we srilankans cannot eat it then I don't know about other nationalities!!
