The variety of beer on tap in Dubai is satisfactory but you always crave for more, Some less popular brand and craft is what allures me, my search is always on as I love beer to the core. And voila this place opened right here in JLT, it's like my prayers were answered, I frequent this place every now and then, my beer belly has surely become fatter. Their happy hours deals are enticing, well it was even more earlier when the complete menu was part of it, Now they have got it limited, but their beer of the month is generally there which is definitely a treat. Ooh their cocktails are brilliant, sweet and potent as described by the mrs., Jiu Jitsu and Sand in the pants deserves a special mention and it's not to be missed. As for my beer, my pictures does more justice and is worth a thousand words and visits, All beer lovers must come here, I still have the food to try though, but purely for beer this place no other place beats.

Was there for a brunch last Friday, food absolutely shocking, fish toco yak, burgers yak, chilli yak only thing you could eat was the chips and cheese stick. This place has a great selection of beers but on the brunch you have the option of caned Stella or BUD luckily you get a bottle of gin on the table. Value for money not good at all, doubt I’ll ever be back for a brunch here. Such a shame as I think this place is pretty cool.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that the old Cocktail Kitchen changed hands and had a serious makeover late last year. More like some hipster artists ran rampant with some spray cans, sandpaper, and the materials for decoupage and gave it a bit of a beating. The management of the premises actually changed over completely so even though the layout and fittings remain the same, gone are the sleek feel and sophisticated pretense. This is Axe House where, frankly, you’re simply going for a good beer, good food, and a good time. Their aim is to deliver hip, artsy, eclectic London vibes – and by London, I don’t mean Regent Street or the City of London. I mean Shoreditch, Hoxton, Dalston, Spitalfields, peeps.

We went here on a ladies night. As expected it was busy. But the front desk was friendly and very clear to us that only chance was the bar area. We went in, bar was busy too. We found our small spot after 10mins. We were hungry but we can only order small plates as no space for the food and we were standing. The people were louder than the music. But it was a good vibe. A really good break from workdays. Btw, the boneless chicken tasted superb! Definitely will go back again!

Very delayed service, tiny portion sizes, and less informed staff make this place quite a buzz killer for small, medium and large sized groups. Last happy hour orders were also not informed and there was quite a mix up with the drinks order. The food taste and presentation were good, but you will have to order a lot to fill your stomachs. We got the slider platter, wedges, pizza, sautéed cottage cheese and tacos. and we also got a dessert platter by staff which were a mix of brownies, fudges and whipped cream.

What a gem of a place.... #Axehouse has become a regular spot for me. Delish food... best happy hour in town and the staff... never have I come across such experienced friendly staff that will go out of their way to help you. #Sherwin and #Francis, thank you for your outstanding service every time I come to Axe. If you haven’t been yet head on down, you won’t be disappointed. They also do a #roast on a #Saturday and #Sunday. Beef brisket tacos are yum and their chicken Kiev burger that is served in a black bun... to die for. Thank you Axe House.

Went for Friday brunch here and really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. It's not a buffet foodie affair but the brought to table offerings were well cooked and varied. Yesterday we DRUNCHED at @axehousedxb DRUNCH : early DINNER and Late LUNCH. . Well that's what happens at 5pm. . If you love Fish.. and that fish is Salmon, then you should have the grilled salmon on the bed of aalo tikki. Yes you heard me right. It was on top of a potato cutlet, sounds better when I say AALO TIKKI.served with broccoli so that you don't miss out on your green. . The godzilla sized, Jumbo Tiger Prawns was not to be missed if you are a seafood food lover.serced with rocket leaves and a chilling oil. Honestly there was no sides required with this, it was flavorful on its own. . @axehousedxb had a very kids friendly menu that offered EVERYTHING the kids love to eat these days. Dua ordered Fish and Chips.. and apart from the usual tartar dip, it came with mashed PEAS.. and Dua liked it 😮😮.. ( tears of Happiness) . Nyle wanted to try Meatballsnwith spaghetti and it was fun to watch him struggle eat that.. I had to demonstrate him the fork movements and Monica @monfar17 was guiding him how to slurp. He did it!! . The sticky Toffee pudding turned out to be their fav from yesterday's dessert. . And my kids were kept enagaged with the coloring kit they received at the beginning of the evening.. and once that was done, they very friendly staff kept them busy with drawings until we stuffed out faces.

We tried the squid appetizer and fried cauliflower along with the roast which has some delicious options. Ladies night, music was lovely, decent crowd. It is so hard to find a decent place on ladies night, most of the places are jammed offering crappy selection. We ordered few bites as well which was perfect with our drinks, to be repeated soon...

Located where Cocktail Kitchen used to be, this is a happening place with a hippie sort of vibe . The food is good and the drinks better but it gets really smoky after some point in time. We wanted to try how pani puri would taste here, but unfortunately they didn't have it . So we settled for the 3 bean chilli which was quite good. The fries are also nice. for drinks I recommend the shizzle ma swizzle for rum lovers. On Happy hours it's 2 for 1, so go crazy! Overall okay if you don't mind all the smoke and a service that's a bit slow.

It was my 1st time here and without any reviews or recommendations, I decided to take a chance of hosting our company party at Axe House. And it was a hit !!! We had planned a Sony team party at Axe House, which was very well planned and executed thanks to Richard Judd over a couple of weeks. Richard was quick in responding to my emails, concerns, requests and more ad-hoc requests :). This is just the beginning to the amazing part. The team put together by Richard - Francis, Rachel, Irina and Inna to host 45 of us at Axe house was simply brilliant. They were quick, agile, flexible and responded to our every request in every bit of politeness and friendliness they possessed. The place was electrifying and the 8 tables in a not-too-noisy section cordoned off for us made up for a great evening. We ordered a lot of appetizers and mains and trust me, every single dish tasted heavenly ! Special mention to the Boneless Reggae Chicken wings, Chargrilled King Prawns and Paddington's Picnic. The ambiance, hospitality (which is a big positive), courtesy, mouth-watering food and an excellent happy hour selection totally makes up for a very cool drinks and dining concept in Dubai !

When I was thinking what to write about this place... I was quite embarrassed. This time it was Axe House @axehousedxb in Armada Hotel (JLT). 🍲 Food: actually I didn’t try and I even didn’t want (little bit later I’ll explain why). 🍸 Drinks: they have promotion from app, where they provide 1 free drink (I took red wine). The list was quite full and even offered wine was good quality. 🍴 Service: staff is nice and helpless at the same time. 🚪 Ambiance: oh! That’s the most interesting! When I came inside, I started to feel myself that I’m in a gas camera. It was so smoky and it looked that ventilation was not working. So, you don’t have air to breathe at all and of course I couldn’t think about food. Very super noisy because of screaming and shouting people around. Not a romantic place at all! For business meeting - no. Even tables are oriented only for friends meetings. WiFi was not working and if you want to use app promotion-you can’t do it if you don’t have data. Probably if you don’t have choice and it’s the only nearest place - you can come here only for one shot. For me, I couldn’t spend long time there. 🎼 Music & entertainment: nice modern tracks, but sound system/mixer doesn’t give clear sound, which adds noise only. Positive: they have pool and air football. 📍 Location & parking: not so far from metro and they have valet parking. And the bar itself is located in parking (that’s why ceiling there very low). Out with the old and in with the new. Taking cues from London's artsy inner city locales, the Axe has ditched the oh so cliched, refined cocktail feel and restyled the joint as a scuffed up, reclaimed wood tabled, graffiti trashed walled venue that offers a sense of realness and accessibility that few other new entrants to Dubai's nightlife scene have delivered.

I had ordered the Axe Burger (requested to subsitute the black bun with a normal white bread bun) which they happily did. The burger and my experience could have been great if it was not for the attitude of the staff as I do understand sometimes things don't go they should. The burger patty itself was delicious and cooked just right. The bun on the other hand was not. It was over-charred and had a bitter taste. When flagged to the waiter, rather than propose me another one, I get the (supervisor or manager?) come through and tell me that there is nothing wrong with the bun that he calls it toasted. I understand the service industry is tough and that taste is subjective but I know burnt when I smell and taste it. At this point I refused to have it replaced having lost my appetite by his burnt attitude (excuse the pun). This restaurant has nothing different nor special conceptually than the 100 other restaurants the city has to offer. I am not sure why restaurateurs are forgetting that customer service and excellent food is what brings people back and not the millions they may have spent on making the place look "cool".

Friday Brunch - We were so excited as we’d heard very positive vibes about this place! The service was absolutely awesome! From arriving to a full bottle of vodka, to constant top ups, we loved every minute! The Frozee was the best we have had in Dubai and the Bloody Mary was on point, just what we needed to cure a slight hangover lol! Wow -- first time in this bar and definitely the last. Actually made an account here just to write this. We were impressed with the interiors when we walked in but that's about the only good thing. No greetings at the door, literally had to run after waitstaff and even then they just kept walking. Asked about the smoking area, she waved her hand off saying anywhere is fine. Umm ok. We sat ourselves at a table, first waitress comes, asks what would we like, and we said, umm a menu would be nice. She never came back so in comes waitress no.2 (same one that told us to sit anywhere) and when my friend asked the contents of some cocktails, the waitress seemed extremely inconvenienced to bother telling my friend about her drink. A few sighs and eyerolls thrown in too for good measure. She kept insisting my friend just get something on the rocks as to seemingly save her from having to talk more to us. Anyway, drinks came, which were fine but about 15 mins later when we finally started enjoying ourselves, a large gentleman walks up to us, starts tapping his finger on his watch and says "guys we're closed!" -- mind you we asked the waitress when we showed up at 1.30am what time they closed and she said we can stay til 3am. It was only 2.15 am when said large gentleman first tapped on his watch. He also made sure to stand in front of us till we finished drinking, paid and made a move. I'm sorry, but is it their actual goal to be as rude as humanly possible to any unlucky human that walks in their little tavern? That's the only logic I can find. Oh well, rest assured me and my friend will be telling this tale til the end of time to anyone and mind you she lives in JLT with lotsa neighbors to talk to :) For me, I think I will be staying far, far away in cosy DIFC :)

Exit…stage left the Cocktail Kitchen. Enter…the Axe House with the same layout (but craft beer, slightly grungy, hipster look replacing the classy wine bar ambiance), same kind of vibe, even the same crowd. I think the only real differences were on the menu, and the addition of pool tables on the far end of the bar (on the left). My better half and I made the mistake of walking in on a Tuesday evening, forgetting it was ladies’ night. It’s pandemonium on ladies’ night. But the girls at the front desk managed to find us a ‘timed’ table…which is a nice way of saying, order, eat and get out within such and such period of time.

Stunning beer selection, but not quite my type of food. Fair disclosure: I love craft beer and don't particularly like British food - not even the British versions of Asian food. It's all just a bit bland for my liking. That being said, I think this really is the best beer selection in Dubai. Maybe Black Tap has a few more American crafts on tap, but I'd say these guys have the best overall selection. The food is... well, it seems like a decent representation of "Brit Pub Noveau" - but you're gonna have to get someone else to give that a proper review. So yeah, go for the beer - if only to ensure that Dubai continues its dabble in the craft beer market. If you like fancy British pub food, go for that too.

It was my second visit to Axe House and the venue was much busier than last time with pretty much every table occupied. The menu included most of the usual food types i.e salad, steak, fish and a range of desserts. Meals were reasonably priced and there is a daily 241 happy hour on drinks. Service was slower on this occasion, due to the volume of people dining. For our main courses we ordered tagliatelle with asparagus and spinach, black angus beef burger with black bun and rack of lamb. We found all three dishes lacked seasoning. For dessert we ordered Apple crumble, sticky toffee pudding and Eton mess, all of which were tasty and adequately sized portions. Not long after we were seated, the music volume was increased making conversation rather difficult. All in all we did have a pleasant experience and will go back again.

Been here probably 10 times and still loving the place. Great ambience, nice crowd, amazing food and excellent service. Special thanks to Master for taking care of us so well and having fun with us. Might also be going there now :p

Atmosphere, drinks and staff are amazing. The food is not great. Only 1 vegan dish (Three bean chili) for 55 Dhs, and except for it being spicy it did not have taste. Had to add salt and even ketchup to be able to eat it. The portion was very small for this price.

Great laid back trendy bar and lounge at the heart of JLT. Serving some good craft beers and delicious finger bites. Would go again to enjoy these halloumi sticks, breaded cauliflower with ranch, the delicious chicken baos and the beef ribs. All were delicious and a great accompaniment for your drinks 🍹

Axe House is the new restaurant in place of popular-but-short-lived Cocktail Kitchen in the Armada Hotel, so the wife and I thought we’d drop in for a spot of lunch after it was highly recommend by our good buddy Courtney (atozaatar). It was pretty quiet when we arrived and we were seated in a weird “is it inside or is it out?” area, facing the bar. Our smiley server came over, explained their awesome happy hour (buy one get one free on EVERYTHING on the drinks menu!) and left us to make our minds up.

Previously Cocktail house, it’s Axe House now..it was packed with brunchers on a Friday afternoon. We ordered some cocktails, it was too sweet for my taste. The happy hour is buy one get one free, so I got another one of the same drink..portion was very small, too! Music is very nice and the place has a cool vibe...the food looked fancy, may try it another time.

Amazing ambience and great food. We ordered the Braised Brisket Tacos which came with the most amazing chimichuri sauce. Also ordered the Chicken Baos and the Donatella Kebab which was great. Best selection of beers in JLT. Definitely recommend Axe House to anyone looking for a great time.

I really like the decor and ambiance of this place. It used to be cocktail kitchen, and now Axe house has opened with almost the same layout but a different sort of atmosphere. I've been here twice so far. They have a great happy hour and ladies night. The drinks are all good. For food we had 4 appetizers The shorts ribs - very good Cauliflower - very good Calamari- excellent Cheese sticks - very good As for the main course, I wish I could say the same. We ordered the sirloin steaks and they were not good at all. Even after returning the plates and talking the manager who was very lovely and cooperative. We will come back again and hopefully the kitchen will get the main courses right this time.

One of the new places which opened up in 2017 and i loved the most. I had a mix feeling while i entered here as this place used to be cocktail kitchen which was one of my favorites too. Visited here on a weekend and it was buzzing with super lively crowd, managed to take up seats at the bar as it was full. The ambience seemed too perfect after a long day to chill out. They had very good deals on beers and we tried Franziskaner which was excellent. Though busy the staff were lovely and quick.

Axe House is a perfect hang out for after work drinks with friends or office buddies as it’s located in the DMCC district and obviously licenced. With multiple zones within the restaurant including a bar, non-smoking and smoking areas, Stoli play lounge and high pub tables, drinks often lead to a dinner and a fun night out. Axe House serves London street food from the every corner of that cosmopolitan city. Expect to see jerk chicken, nachos, fried mozzarella, shrimps, fish and chips, sliders and a lot more on the menu. Tried to order Jerk chicken. Was told that I could not switch the sides from beans and rice to fries. Very disappointing for a 90Dhs dish. I feel like a restaurant like this should be more flexible.

Though the employees were very cheerful here, the drinks we had were simply bad. Sparkling wine: They ran out of the prosecco on the drink list so we were served with an unknown sparkling wine. The sparkling wine was flat, lack of balance with acidity, and lack of depth Sand in the Pants: The drink sounded better than it is. This was a long drink that was super fruity but somehow tasted artificial A-Fashion: This drink was simply plain. There's nothing special while it wasn't too bad either

A To Za'atar

Friends will know more often than not, for much of 2017, there were a few reliable venues in my life — Nola, Cocktail Kitchen, and Lucky Voice. These places always provided the kind of atmosphere I was looking for — with out of town friends, for after work drinks, or, just to sing and have fun. Thus, when Cocktail Kitchen announced it was closing, I was sad. They will be relocating, but not to my neighborhood. So, when Axe House was advertised, I was a bit wary.

Dubai Desert Twins

Axe House is another new bar and restaurant in Dubai and we took a few friends along to check the place out. We went out on a Tuesday night which is ladies night at most bars in Dubai, however Axe House have an alternative ladies night called 'friends with benefits'girls get 4 free drinks and there is a 2 for 1 offer for everyone until midnight and 50% off food for mixed groups, pretty good right? The place looks great, it's super urban and there is a pool and ice hockey table which is quite fun to have. There were a few things we didn't feel too comfortable about which was the huge amount of smoke (even though we were sitting in a non-smoking area) the smoke filled up the place it actually made our eyes water and also the music was extremely loud specially for a restaurant/bar, we had to shout at our friends as none of us could hear a word the other person was saying. The staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. We ordered a few things off the menu, halloumi fries, scampi and chips, onion rings, chocolate smash and much more. The food came out fast and hot but the food wasn't as good as we hoped it would be, the ribs came with the smallest amount of mash and the scampi was over cooked it almost looked black. We did enjoy the onion rings and the ribs were tasty. I think if we do visit again we might just have a few drinks and nibbles and not a full meal. The desserts were awesome, we got to smash one of the desserts which was quite fun. We also had the Eton mess, it wasn't like your typical Eton mess but we did enjoy it.
