I liked this resto before it became a buffet place. The taste was nice and bold. Staff was accomodating and I love that they are now selling pastries.

CARINDERIA NI TANDANG SORA
We visited the restaurant earlier today at around 6pm. We did not plan on eating there at all so we decided to scout around the area since there are a lot of options. I have to admit that there were other restaurants that offers lower price but what caught our attention here was the number of food options they provide.
The place was a bit dark but it was ok and we were seated on well ventilated area.
The food were all looking good. And they all tastes delicious.
The staff were very accomodating, courteous and all approachable. I have to specifically mention Grace. Because she was really assisting us. She gave us all the requests we need. I could not even help my self but to ask her to take photo with me because she gave us the WOW factor in this dining experience.
On the other reviews, I saw that they were compalaining because of flies or other hygienic issues and aweful way they were treated. I think they have already addressed these issues properly because the place is clean and the staff were all courteous.
Over all we left the restaurant with full happy tummy and smiling pockets because we did not spend that much money.
A happy and satisfying dining experience made extra special by Grace. Thank you for treating us the way customers deserve. ❤
A well recommended place👌🏽

Avoid this place. NOT recommended at all. You can get sick with Covid. Was there yesterday (Deira). Very dirty, unhygienic and food handling is so bad. Sauces and other dishes are exposed in the open area without covers. Plates were all wet and you can even taste dish soap. One filipino male staff was wearing mask down his chin and kept talking in front of the uncovered foods. Except for the African crews who were so polite and welcoming, the Filipino cashier and owner of this restaurant is so rude . She shouldn’t be in this business. We were paying and my friend and I requested for separate bills and she said in a very, very rude manner that she doesn’t have change and we shouldn’t make it hard for her if we pay together. Asked if we can pay by credit card, she showed the machine, and replied arrogantly that it’s not working like it is the customer’s responsibility to prepare the exact change and fix their machine. UNHYGIENIC PLACE TO EAT PLUS EXTREMELY BAD TREATMENT FROM THE OWNER HERSELF, what’s there to visit? Won’t return to this place again. I would rather pay more and go to the other nearby restaurants and get better and cleaner food and respect.

The 39 aed buffet is definitely worth it! The food tastes better than I expected with the right kind of variety - serving beef, chicken, and seafood. My favorites were the Beef with Mushroom that is very tender, the Chicken Hamonado that is cooked to perfection with a sweet appealing taste, and the Chocolate Mousse that has beaten all the other desserts I tasted in a Filipino buffet here in Dubai. A must try for any Filipino foodie! I wasn't able to take any photo as my family and I were too hungry and enjoyed the food so much. Just don't leave any leftovers to avoid paying extra hehe.

I was in search for Ube Cheese Pandesal in Dubai. I drove all the way to Satwa to discover this bakery accepts only cash. Then tried the stand inside a supermarket but utterly disappointed -- more of 'ube' coloring only and with 1/2 teaspoon cheese filling. Until my colleagues raved about this pandesal from this outlet. Worth the drive from jebel ali. It's soft, just right ube filling and you can really taste the cheese. It's worth the price too! You have the same craving for this baked good -- check this outlet, you won't get disappointed. It's best you call and reserve and order in advance (like we did) in order not to be disappointed. it's normally available during early evening.

The Food was not worth it for the price they offer. The bulalo and chicken was very salty, you can’t eat it totally! The fish soup tasted like old socks— meaning the fish was not fresh!!! The lights were turning on and off, we just laughed about it. But the taste of the food is horrible it’s unforgivable... It’s so saddening because we used to come here often.

NOT RECOMMENDABLE. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE. THIS IS SAD, because we used to love the people and, sure, the food! The reason why we keep on coming back since 2016! However, something happened last night. PLEASE ASK your Filipino Friends to translate this to you!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE happened last night at Carinderia ni Tandang Sora. If you would like to order the food of your choice, I dont suggest for you to visit here, because there were the staff who would only humiliate you and treat you as bad as they could.

Ang gusto lang naman namin ay kumain ng maayos at masaya kasama ang family namin. First time namin na maka encounter na naka confront kami ng isang fnb staff. To be honest sobrang malapit ang puso namin sa mga nagttrabaho sa fnb, kasi most of us came from the same industry, and all this.

WHAT HAPPENED last night.
We were from Simbang Gabi, then we decided to have our dinner sa TANDANG SORA, na super regular customer kami since 2016. Kaming 4 plus 2 first timer.

THEN, before we go there, alam na namin ang oorderin namin. We ordered 2 na tig AED 80, which is the Maynila and Batangas. Tapos kinuha na nila ang order namin. Okay. mga around 10PM, naka order na kami, 10:45PM nagffollowup pa din kami. Yun Bulalo na sinerve nila samin prior is nag sebo na. Si kuya ko, nagfollowup sa food namin, pero the response nung tumalikod sya is masama ang tingin and pangirap, which is why diba? Then proceed kami sa kwentuhan and sayahan habang nagaantay ng food. And AYON, dinala na nga, ang first na nilagay is KANIN, JOLENS daw ang name. Pagkalagay ng Kanin is hindi gentle pero go lang, pero mejo di namin makalimutan is nagsabe sya na "ITO NA PO YUNG PANG APAT NA KANIN" - sabi namin ouch pero go lang kain kami.

THEN we asked for icedtea, na refill. THEN yun KANIN NA, bigla sya nag stormed out, at sinabe na with attitude "automatic additional na pag kuha pa kayo ng kanin" and we asked again kasi hindi namin gets. inulit nya. tpos we asked kasi unli rice yun. Tapos ayon napahiya na kami kasi good for 4 lang daw yun order namin and all these.

UNA PO SA LAHAT, wala pong probelma kung hindi talaga pwede, walang probelma kung magbabayad kami ng additional or we have to change our order. PERO IN THE first place we were not informed abt the kanin and all these things haha. PERO yun mapahiya kami, and yun tingin ni JOLENS na para kaming pulube patay gutom and yun hindi nya pakikipagusap samin ng maayos is another thing and beyond.

Maayos kami nagttanong, pero ayon ang response sa amin. pinagtitinginan na kami ng mga taga ibang table, pero at that time, first time ko, maka encounter ng ganon. We were only tryna explain na it could have been better if we were informed nung nagoorder pa lang kami, we could have changed our order or ordered something else.

HINDI SILA MAAYOS MAKIPAGUSAP ANG NAKAKAHIYA ANG GINAWA SA AMIN, parang wala kaming pang bayad ang peg.

After that we stopped eating, nakaka walang gana, nakaka isang stick pa lang ako ng ISAW and we stopped. sobrang nakaka walang gana. Ang sad haha.

We tried to asked for the MANAGER, which is ang tagal dumating at nung una ayaw pa ata nyang makausap namin kasi MANAGER daw yun nag take ng order namin.

Sorry pero hindi po sincere si MANAGER, didnt even bother to offer and explain yun other options, kung bakit ganon si JOLENS, and we asked for JOLENS sana para maintindhan namin kung bakit sya ganon, pero WALA. NO sincere APOLOGIES. and the MANAGER, tho na kami naginsist na magbayad talaga kahit hindi ubos ang food, is wala man lang discounts or anything. PERO omg lang.

I DONT KNOW IF WE ARE STILL COMING BACK TO THIS PLACE, AND ONE THING IS FOR SURE, THIS IS NOT A RECOMMENDABLE PLACE AT ALL.Not because of the food, kasi binalikbalikan namin ito, BUT THE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE NA SOBRANG WORST AND HINDI NA SIGURO. FYI sobrang message pa si kuya ko nung nagrenovate kayo, kasi we were bothered baka nagclose na kayo.

For Filipino diners, it’s a home away from home. For other expats, it interests them to know more about the historical facets of the Philippines. Some Filipinos are known to be economical, but Carinderia ni Tandang Sora will give you great portion and big serving of food you want to order.

Read my full review here: thecityvibesuae.com/post/carinderia-ni-tandang-sora

Where do hungry stomachs go??? Tandang Sora. 🤣 We were looking for a place to eat for dinner and our feet led us here. This place is good for groups, as they have various selections, be it seafood or grilled. We have tried the group meal, with seafood and one with meat. Both were very satisfying. Price is affordable.

Yummm
This boodle fight is so affordable. It's usually good for 2-3 but i consider it 3-4. You can have an option of plain rice or bagoong rice.
They have the best grilled isaw which i had from the previous pinoy restaurants i have been through.
Restaurant is nice.
Will deifnitely recommend to my friends😻

We ordered the visayas boodle fight.
The sinampalukang chicken soup waa quite tasty. Actually, all their soup dishes are quite tasty.

The serving was more than enough for the 6 of us.
The fish was fresh and didnt taste like mud.
The fried tadyang ng baka tasted like chicharon.
The fried bituka was too soft and lacks seasoning

I didnt like the gulaman at all it tasted like medicine. It would be nice if they make it taste like the original gulaman with a hint of vanilla.

I would recommend you to try the ala carte dishes. I believe those are better tasting dishes.

Their salosalu for 2 is enough for a big eater like me. quite affordable but food is warm when served. unli rice and souo is perfect! ahaha

Food 4/5
Service 5/5
Ambiance 3/5
It was our first time to dine here and it was marvelous. 😍 we can't resist the taste of the food. The boodle fight for two person was too much for us and the price was too friendly. We love to come back here. Great job!

FOOD - Excellent Filipino restaurant in Dubai! Crispy Pata ng Baka is a must-try. I also love the Sinigang na Baka and seafoods.

SERVICE - Great! Waiters are attentive and approachable.

PLACE - Accessible, it is near Deira City Center Metro Station.

PRICE - Very affordable, it cost around 120 AED for 2 persons. Try the boodle fight with unlimited rice which is 200 AED only that is good for 4 persons.

First of all service was friendly and good. Second, location wise it was accessible but I find the interiors and design less compelling. Lastly, the food was great but not all of it, but I have to say their barbecue is good and excellent but some of the grills are inconsistent, you can taste something wrong with their seafood and chicken intestines, not saying that it was not clean or something but it has this taste that is probably due to they way it was cooked, but overall it was a good place to have a quick bite with an understandble price and a package worth its price.
HungryArkitek
Comfort food!
When I'm craving for traditional Filipino food, I always go to this place to satisfy my craving.
Whether grilled, fry, saute, soup and etc they have it..
The price is above average but worth it..

carinderia ni tandang sora totally changed even the food quality very poor now. serve us burn grilled bangus not acceptable. waiting for how many minutes lost appetite. worst
The place is really not fancy or up to your casual dining ambiance, but their papaitan is the best! So i guess, think about it as your improved karinderia as what their name say. :)

Like other filipino restaurants, this one is a must try! Same with what they serve in Karama branch. Bicol express is our favorite and their sinigang. Nothing to complain. Great experience.

Dining in will definitely make you feel patriotic as the theme features Filipino National Heroes. Don't miss out their Boodle fights (HIMAGSIKAN) and ihaw-ihaw (grilled) Street food.
Pat Rick
It was a good experience overall. We had the buffet which was really enjoyable. The food was decent enough and the street foods in the buffet was so much fun to eat. Pricing is fair and not much service needed as it was a buffet and everything you needed was available within reach.

First time to tried this Restaurant.

Dishes Ordered - Chicken Bbq, Pancit Palabok, Breaded Shrimps & Halo Halo. The food was absolutely great and very tasty.

Service - Staffs weren’t focus on giving their full attention to us, hence using Cellphones on their work place is really unacceptable. I think the management should be aware on these kind of actions. Not satisfied at all.

Over All - 3/5, since the food which is our main prior is excellent.
Agustin Concepcion Tacod
It was my first visit here and we tried their boodle menu (Mindanao) which originally costs AED200 but we got around AED50 off as discount for Iftar. Serving is okay but not really a fan of the grilled seafood and meat as the sauce is too sweet for me. I like their pansit, tho. As to ambiance, they have nice decors inside and felt like you’re inside a mini museum. However, it felt too hot to stay in the loft. Overall, it was a good experience and will definitely come back here to try their other menu.
Maxim Ka
I must say I was very impressed with the interior of this place. The food is also very good in taste and portions are generous, however you might struggle to understand some of the names, so it's better to take a Filipino friend 🙂
Overall I like the place and the food
Jedz San Jose
The food was great. Everything tasted great especially the Laing and Papaitan. Service and atmosphere were awesome too. Pricing is well worth it. I would score it 4.5 but just can't seem to do it on app??.

Have the time to experienced great food in carinderia ni tandang sora in centurion hotel. We ordered tropang visayas! Everything in the boodle was so yummy. And for 200 AED only 5-6 pax can enjoy the great food. With free unlimited ice tea! If you’re going to celebrate birthday, anniversaries or simply want to indulge in good food this place is highly recommended. You can bring your muslim friends as well as they are not serving “Haram Food” 🤗.. We will definitely come back here. Worth every dirham that you will pay.. Much better if you will stay inside as the weather is hot nowadays.

Carinderia ni Tandang Sora is one of the best, if not the best pinoy restaurant in Dubai. The taste is so authentic pakiramdam mo nasa Pinas ka, sobrang sulit dahil malaki ang serving ng food. Not only the ambience and food, what’s more authnetic pinoy in this restaurant is that the staff eat their lunch together like a family without compromising the service level, in fact they have friendly and very accomodating staff. Truly pinoy!
Tahir
One of the best pinoy restaurants I have been to. The food is lovely and the service excellent. We went with our family today and some of them had filipino food for the first time. They absolutely loved it. Thank you poh to everyone that made this a lovely meal for all.of us.... we will be back!
Kathleen Juan-Serra
Lovely interiors. Huge servings and very pleasant and helpful staff. Food is good as well. The only comment is when we asked our leftovers to be packed, some weren't included. I think you just have to tell them to pack everything. Overall we had a very nice time.

I was here today and ordered a bulalo steak, taste is just right and served...in sizzling hot plate. Since my first visit (almost a year now) its service and quality of food is consistent and superb.
By the way all ala-carte orders comes with rice, they also have group (boodle meal) of mostly grilled meat.
The Taste Of Good
My Indian friend who is not so fond of Filipino food wants to eat proper Filipino dish. He wants me to change his belief that Filipino food is just sugar. Since I have not been eating out in Filipino restaurants, this is a challenge for me. With the help of Zomato, it showed the top Filipino restaurants in Dubai. One of which is Carinderia ni Tandang Sora. I checked their menu on which food should I order that will suit his Indian taste buds. I decided to order Bicol delicacies such as Chicken Bicol Express and Laing. For the soup, Sinampalukang Manok since he likes Tom Yum Soup which is very similar to Sinampalukan.

Want to know how was our experience at Carinderia ni Tandang Sora? Did I change his view on Filipino food? Click the link below.

Food:
4 out of 10!
We had a lunch buffet today, since we are in a rush! Firstly, the rice is hard because of overstaying in the food warmer, lol! Also tried their crispy beef, it’s literally super duper crispy, u can’t eat it, it’s so hard!
Rest of the dishes are so so, i only like the beef sinabawan, im bot sure if it’s bulalo or nilaga!
As for the deserts, the leche flan has too much sugar in it and vanilla, if it’s vanilla.
The graham cake was dry., and last latly the drinks, we opted for the pineapple juice, it’s deadly sweet! 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Ambiance:
4 out of 10!
Too much fly!!!!!
And I don’t like it!

Service:
6 out of 10!
Their kinda friendly! So it’s fine!
Tristan Eua Lipa Yap
Tastes good and authentic, but a little bit pricey. It's better you come in groups of 3 or more as it may come a bit very expensive otherwise. The total experience had to be above average as the presentation of the food the interiors all add up to the dining experience. Had to be on the top spot for authentic Filipino cuisine for me here in Dubaim Definitely Filipino.

It could have been perfect but the food got in the way... it's my 2nd time, once on both branches, so i think i can fairly rate their food...

Food - 4.0/5
Why? Bec there was nothing that stoodout... apart from the boodle feast, which is more a way of eating, nothing stoodout and i am vaguely disappointed! Would i recommend it to feed 10 burly, hungry men? Of course, YES! Only bec it is sulit... don't get me wrong, the food isn't at all bad but it lacked a lot. We ordered the seafood boodle and the Mindanao boodle! It was okay... special mention is the fried isaw baka though, yun masarap pero mejo malamig na when it came to the table... besides the boodles, we ordered calamares, beef kare kare, inihaw na tilapia (walang lasa, wish i didn't order it anymore) and 2 side dishes... talong ensalada and itlog na maalat... both were just ok! But i didn't go out to eat just ok food... i wanted to be blown away! Birthday dinner nga eh, eh di sana nagluto na lang ako sa bahay!

Ambience - 4.0/5
Standard issue wooden tables and benches... good enough for any Filipino resto... we were lucky to arrive early (6pm on a Sat), we got the big table at the mezzanine area or else we dine outside... which is still too warm for me, a self confessed polar bear... truth be told, the buffet downstairs is a waste of space... you serve better food ala carte!

Service - 5.0/5.0
Stellar customer svc!!! Kung pwedeng 10, pang 10 talaga! From responding to FB messenger inquiries, to sending me actual menu jpegs just to satisfy my inquiry... kudos! Pag dating sa resto, they know we are enlisted even if they dont take reservations... and when it was time for desserts, one of the servers danced for us and sang a birthday song for the celebrants! Galing!

Over-all - 4.0/5.0
1. CnTS, you need to have a specialty! If its fried isaw baka then let it be it! Harness it to perfection! Let it be one of your crowd drawers...
2. Rethink your buffet! Sayang ang space! There's an EAYC na ala carte ang tirada! You may want to change it to that! Or make your buffet small and seasonal... Filipino cold dessert buffet perhaps during summer (halo halo, con yelos - saba, mais, nata, ginumis, etc...)
Bridge
Their serving for the chicken inasal is big enough for two. The taste is just okay, though I was really looking for the traditional chicken inasal bacolod style flavor.
I liked the fried or sauteed eggplant as side dish.
We also ordered bilo-bilo for take away. Maybe it was just that time, but their bilo2x were hard and about half-cooked.
The place is okay, the interior design is interestingly nationalistic and always have the typical pinoy crowd which can be too loud sometimes.

Food is delicious
Service is amazing
Staff are really friendly
But for heaven sake add some more air conditioning
I'd give an easy five stars if the place is cooler

Me and my family decide to go for a dinner at this restaurant, so around 14:00 of 23rd of June 2017 i made a booking thru internet @20:00 for 7Pax, because i know most of the restaurant will be full because of the weekend, in the website they ask for any specual request and which outlet i want to made a booking, so i wrote for dine in inside because we have a baby with us and i want to made the booking in Deira Outlet. But i was so surprise when we came there around 19:30 that the waiter told me that they are not accepting any booking from that outlet, only karama outlet is accepting the reservation, so i asked again so whats the used of your site and asking which outlet where we want to make a booking, the waiter just told me that if i wanna dine in with them i need to wait because on number 12, and i ask him so you want mus to wait with a baby with us and he said yes. Wow what a brilliant answer, everytime me and my family go to this restaurant to celebrate special occasions..

The best here is the "Visayas" package, a combination of fish, meat and veggies. Location is accessible from Deira City Center Metro. Price is affordable and its good for group. The place is not that big so better have a reservation so you can dine in inside. Staffs are friendly.
Alison Dela Cruz Perey
Masarap!! :) di ako nag sasawa kahit halos araw arAw nako nabalik....

Tropang visayas and bulalo all time favorite!! Sarap ng tadyang ng baka lalo na ang chicken inasal....

Palitan nyo na alng yung pakbet sa set menu nyo dun then perfect na :)

From the staff, ambiance down to food it was marvelous. The staff will welcome you with a warm smile. They really incorporate the name of the restaurant to the ambiance, Tandang Sora is the mother of Jose Rizal. So it really showcase some of the life of Rizal example is that they hanged pictures of the wives of Rizal. This is actually a great idea so that other nationality can learn as well our great hero. The food was really tasty, mouth watering and what can I say? It feels like home when you visit this restaurant in Deira. Indeed worth the price 👏🏻

I heard this place from one of my friend and craving for Filipino food as well as looking for a better place to dine rather the crowded foodcourt of DCC we decided to try this Carinderia Ni Tandang Sora
. When we got there - the ambiance to the menus to the food to the plating were all elevated.. Their food was delicious and service was fast. We ordered a lot (from bopis, inasal na manok, Adobong pusit, pansit and a lot more) and the total price was really below my calculations. So not only will you feel full, the price is cheap plus we end up having to take home our leftovers. A must try for sure!! #Zomato
The Sexy Pig
This was by far the best Filipino resto in Dubai I've ever been. I love how they serve the "boodle" type of food and not just randomly mix everything in the serving dish. You can have a mini version of their boodle if you are a couple and still the food is more than enough that in our case, we have to take away some. Just make sure you set aside what you think you can't finish so you don't end up mixing the rice with the rest of the food. Service is a breeze on a weekday night.

Excellent food and service. The food brings me nostalgia and takes me back to where I come from. Friendly and helpful staff too. I will definitely go back to this place and order the crispy isaw again.

An Authentic Filipino Restaurant, showcasing Filipino history and culture that could be seen in their menu! Sinigang Na ulo Ng salmon was great and inihaw Na bangus! The staffs are not quite attentive with the customers request! Give some more gaps please like the tables are near to each other!

Carinderia Ni Tandang Sora is a themed Filipino restaurant which specializes in serving authentic Filipino food. It’s making quite a reputation for itself, notching up two branches in a very short period of time; this one in Deira and another in Karama. Much of this success (and speed) can be attributed to experienced patron chef, Richelle Ortiz. This man’s been around the block, with culinary accolades including association with La Petite Maison and, the establishment of Filipino successful restaurants like Kabayan and McDavids.

Authentic Filipino foods you'll love. It's like eating your grandma's dish and delicacies. I love the grilled tilapia, it is obviously fresh because of the smell and texture of it when served. I can say It's a bit expensive but worth the money. One thing to suggest is, make the table larger and provide spacious gap between tables for group customers.

Food- 4/5
Service- 5/5
Ambiance-3/5
Bumili ako ng ginataang bilo bilo for AED 18/ and to my surprise yong bilo bilo at sago para kang kumakain ng bato as in bato... please check your food bago nyo ibenta...

Nothing to write home about but i'm not generalizing the whole selection because we ordered Nilagang baka and ensaladang talong only. Unfortunately, baked tahong wasn't available when we had dinner here. They serve unlimited rice as well.

Customer service is ok. I think the staff were just tired hence the lack of energy and smiles.

I've read good reviews for this restaurant so we decided to try it last night. I was worried that it would be full on a Thursday night so we came in at 630pm. Luckily for us, there were still available tables upstairs.

We decided to have the single (Katipunero) meal that includes one dish, unlimited rice and iced tea. The meal was very reasonable at 35AED. I had the grilled squid meal. The squid was cooked to perfection -- very tender and tasty. There was a heaping service of rice served in banana leaf with egg and tomatoes. My husband got the grilled chicken meal which was just as good. We ordered an additional vegetable dish -- laing. The leaves were cooked with squid, shrimps and some crab parts. Over all, it was a very satisfying meal.

Service was topnotch. I hope to come back soon!

Hndi ko maintindhan pano naging 4.0 rating nito. Nag antay kme ng isang oras pra sa food. Pagserve ng food mali pa ang binigay na order. Exhaust system sablay. Staff sablay. At eto matinde, nagpa take away ako ng ginataang bilo bilo. Dhl sa bwisit namen d ko na chneck, pagdating ng bahay ginataang TILAPIA ang laman. Matinde!! Maganda sna ang concept. Pangit lang service. Kung may manager sana bka maging okay ang flow kso wala. Sablay talaga. Sayang.. good luck

Sorry but they dont seserve the 4.0 ratings at all. The tables are yucky and stained. When i asked the staff to clean it nicely she didnt seem happy to take it from me. And she looks like she is not being paid. I hate this attitude at work.
I was so hungry but such a turn off to come to sit to dirty tables. Smile for a change so the customers wont run away!!!

Awesome Architecture design however very poor service, food was not as good as what we have expected. There were flies inside the restaurant and servers were not as managed as it should be. 😡😡😡

Fair price. Busy during peak hours. Food not too impressive. Well decorated interior. Ventilation system is very poor as the smoke from the kitchen comes out. Makes your shirt smells like you are part of their kitchen team.

What you pay is what you get and Tandang Sora gives a real value of your money. With a retro-typical ambiance, food here will gives you a flashback from the philippine history. Service from the staffs also gives an A-plus.

Another Filipino restaurant that I know I could highly recommend.

The place is tuck away in one little corner of Deira but still easy enough to find. It's 2 floors and loft type layout are very unique. It makes the place look spacious and modern. It's clean, cosy and well designed. They also have outdoor seating which I reckon gets busy on cooler months.

We ordered a lot of food as it was a birthday lunch of Red Plate. There were 13 adults and 2 kids. Our table was heaving once all our order came. We had crispy isaw (chicken intestine) which was my favourite out of the lots, a very well presented grilled squid on a wooden board served with salad, laing (a very Filipino dish, taro leaves soaked and cooked in coconut milk) sinuglaw (there's no english translation for this but its grilled chicken fillet with tangigue fish flakes soaked in vinegar - kinilaw as we call it) battered crispy prawns, sisig which is one of the favourites, chicken wings for the kids and a few more. All amazing food I must say and there's not one that I would say I didn't really like.

The place is well-staffed although they were obviously overwhelmed at some point. It's weekend and the place was packed. It's still very nice of them to come up and sing happy birthday to Red. :)

Lastly, it's reasonably priced.

Had a mini-reunion with high school batchmates here. I called the restaurant a week before to make a group lunch reservation but they do not accept reservations. Still I was asked the date, time and number of guest. Upon their opening earlier today, a staff gave me a call and said they have set up a table for 12 people as I requested but we need to get there on time. I was on the way so this was perfect. I liked that they took note of my request and did their best to accommodate me and my friends.

This was my first time here. I once passed by the place and thought it looked nice. It stuck on my mind that is why I chose this place. Upon entering, you would notice a modern yet homey vibe. The place was decorated with countless framed photos, a number of which were those of Philippine heroes. Looking at them invoked a sense of nostalgia. It was good to be reminded of your home, of your history.

The staffs greeted us with warm welcome. Their sunny disposition helped create a cozy ambiance. Service was good but I felt they were rather overwhelmed. Perhaps because we ordered a lot and kept on adding more.

Food here is really good. There are a number of Filipino restaurants in Dubai and this place is one that I will definitely visit again. We ordered a lot. The three dishes I liked the most were beef sisig, grilled stuffed squid and crispy isaw (intestines). The isaw was thoroughly cleaned. It was crispy and tasty especially when dipped in spicy vinegar. The squid was grilled beautifully. It was soft, juicy and flavourful. It can be tough to eat when overdone so good thing they know how to cook this dish properly. The sisig was really good. It had crispy and soft elements. The dish was simply delectable.

Price-wise, this place gives value for money. For the amount of food we had, the bill was very reasonable. It does not burn a hole in your pocket, so to speak.

Today was a very good experience and I am sure that there will be more to follow.

that's a great experience to have dinner there, the problem is that as long as less than 4 person ,it's not good choice to go , and it's so hard to understand the menu except philipinno, but the toast chicken is tasty
Arjay-Girlie N!
The food and place were great.. Although the portion of my favorite "laing" is now lesser.. :( And the servers could use a smile a little bit more.. We always come back here cause the food we've tried so far were exquisite! :)

Me and my family loved the place! Especially that they displayed Rizal's ex girlfriends. 😂 The servers are okay. Some are nice and some are not really welcoming. We are from Abu dhabi and they could have smiled more often atleast.

Anyway, we loved the bihon. 😊

Except for the terrible exhaust system they have, Carinderia ni Tandang Sora is the ultimate place for delectable Filipino dishes. Always packed, people like us seem to not mind the long queue.

Friendly service and accommodating, with unlimited rice, bring the entire hood for dinner and you will go home happy and fully satisfied.

First time here recommended by my cousin, its MASARAP!

We ordered the fried tilapia and grilled pusit (pagkain ng katipunero) its tasty! Crispy tilapia, savory grilled pusit!

Great food presentation!

The ambiance was nostalgic!

Plus washroom has good concept! Makes u want to take selfie. LoL.

I can say it a must try! If ur near deira city centre and looking for something new. Try it!

Carinderia ni Tandang Sora is one of the best places in the area if you are looking for some delicious Filipino food.. At a reasonable price you and your friends can enjoy their "Boodle fight" offers which is good for 5. I specially love their papaitan, it is perfect if you crave for hot soup! Place is small though but food is worth it!
Jessica
This has got to be one of the most filling and tastiest boodle fight I've tried here. Filipino food well represented.

I think this was team Visayas or Mindanao. Good price for such big serving.

It was my son's birthday when we went to carinderia ni tandang sora. Food was superb. Price just right. Ambiance is super excellent as it gives me this nostalgic feeling of home.

SURPRISE, SURPRISE, I didn't expect that (in a good way) For what it is, this place is really very good... It's pretty busy and the staff overall, do an exceptional job in getting everyone fed... It's by no means a 5* star experience, however, wouldn't life be boring if you had that every day, groundhog luxury nightmare comes to mind... Anyhow, this little resto is located at Centurion Tower, which is close to Deira City Centre and Millennium Hotel, Deira.... The first thing to strike you is that it's stylish, modern, yet has lots of pictures and other elements gracing the walls, which subtlety (like a hammer in your face), honors the Philippines and its rich history... What I'm trying to say, is that the owners (I believe Pinoy) have chosen well and as a result, it's a million miles away from venues such as Golden Fork, Agemono, Chow along etc, which I'm pleased to report I've only been forced to eat at once !!!!!... So, the Venue is a conservative 8/10 but be sure to get in early, as seating inside is a bit limited, Food: 8/10 which for this type of cuisine is the highest I've judged, the chop suey was very good, Kare Kare was light but tasty, fish was fresh and well cooked etc etc, Service: Yeah, it was Good... My server wasn't great at English but we coped and the speed of delivery was good/very good, so no complaints there... I will be going back and great job to all at this new Filipino resto gem... Cheers.

amazing!! I may not have pictures to show..but I loved the place, very Filipino feels! the articles and portraits on the wall! the food was great too.. i mostly appreciate their beef barbeque and sinigang!

The place is themely decorated but isn't spatial. Not a good sitting place for people who are not the average south east asian size. good food and huge serving. we took the group platter (mindanao as pictured) but the grilled beef is just too gummy. but for sure, this place can treat your filipino food homey cravings.

You will surely feels like you are at home! Friendly and very accommodating staffs and with live funny entertainment from "Choky".
Food was superb and I've been here for three times now. I can't help myself on asking for extra (unlimited) rice every time I am there.
I can't wait for my next visit!

It may have taken a while for me to get into this chic filipino diner since the initial feedback from my wife and kids were not really great a few months earlier. They said most of the dishes from the menu were unavailable and it's just another filipino resto. Hence I was reluctant to give it a try. However, last tuesday after a stressful day, I decided to eat out alone and supposed to go to another restaurant but happened to pass by the place. So I said ,why not give it a try. My reluctance was suddenly replaced with eagerness after seeing the welcoming smiles and warm hospitality of the waitress.

The area was quite small and can easily be filled up in an ordinary day. Got a little lucky that they managed to find me a seat, sharing a table among a group of nine strangers. For Filipinos, it's so naturally easy for us to blend in.

The interior design is very well themed and makes me feel patriotic. Chicken Inasal as pictured here is my all time favorite Filipino dish. It was properly presented on a wooden board along with tincan-like serving bowl. The taste is not the original that I expect but reminds me so much of a popular and legendary restaurant back home called the Aristocrat. It’s simple but delicious barbecue chicken, blending the spices into a rich peanut like (i'm not sure) sweet sauce that just goes so well with the chicken. The grilled eggplant with a touch of shrimp paste is just a perfect match along with the sweet pickled vegetable. This makes for an out of the ordinary eating experience. Highly recommended.

Feels like I am in on of the restaurants back home!

The old photographs, currency notes and the staff uniform.

The place inside looks narrow and crowded though. I hope they can use more space upstairs to accommodate more guests in future.

The food is OK. We had the choice of boodle fight and hot soup good enough for 12 people in a group. I had their vegetarian noodles and it was done as per my request! - just right with the taste I want!

The talented filipino guy sang the birthday song and it was FANTASTIC! He has full of energy and joy while doing his special number. The weather was perfect when we went there! Hope they keep improving!:)

At first I was hesitant to dine here with family because (since this is a Filipino restaurant) they're maybe using MSG. but according to the cook and servers, they don't use msg. (And we will know if true or not)
Now we are a regular customers and we always order Tropang Luzon which is swak sa budget for 5-6 persons. Food are delectable; Fast and cheerful customer service; clean and cool ambiance.

Need to train wait staff to be more organised and service oriented. Seating was not organised and wait staff was not attentive and at times seems uninterested. Food was good though so kudos to the chef.

Really creative menu list, makes you miss some of the restaurants back home. Food is good, tadyang for the win!! Oh, affordable too and worth your money. 😉

We ordered two sets of Tropang Visayas(Boodlefight) plus two orders of sisig and the food is just right. Two sets are more than enough for 13people. The food lacks a little bit of taste according to my tastebuds but i enjoyed eating and sipping their bulalo, it tastes good with a good amount of serving. Good vibes all over the restaurant from their amazing staff which serves us happily and responds quickly to whatever we need!

Loved❤ ✔all in the menu list ✔ affordable price ✔ friendly staff ✔ most esp the theme of the restaurant which i love dearly. Im very proud of Filipinos and all the new hero^^ xxx

Highly esteemed based from its current reviews, hubby and I excitedly trooped to Centurion Tower to sample the latest Pinoy themed resto in town.
Would have liked to order other items, but his choice prevailed - Beef Bulalo, Calderetang kambing and Ensaladang talong were what we sampled.
Beef broth was just perfect with tender and ample meat good enough for two, ensalada was very tasty but caldereta for me, was a no go. There was quite a ruckus on their 2nd floor with some guests having a birthday party so it somehow spoiled the experience a bit, as their noise was enough to put us off our food.
Would probably revisit once back in the area to sample their other fare.

GIVING IT A 5.0!

Not only did I love the food, but I also enjoyed the experience.
From the name, the decorations depicting Philippine ancient history & culture, the OPM songs they play, the way you'll have to eat the food with hands and on banana leaves, and even to how the waiters are all dressed as "katipuneros", the amount of patriotism in this place is just really admirable. It was quite an experience as being a Filipino living in a foreign land, it's impossible for this place to not get you sort of nostalgic..

Recommended:
1. SOUP: Beef Bulalo - a soup shared for 5-6 people. Sprinkled with A LOT of fried garlic, this is very tasty & flavorful.
2. MAIN COURSE: Tropang Luzon (Meal for 5-6 people) - Grilled shrimps, Grilled tilapia, Ensalada, Chicken Inasal, Pinakbet, and then unlimited rice! (ofcourse!)
2. DRINKS: Sago't Gulaman! (DUH?)

FOOD is good. STAFF verry friendly. AMBIENCE is fantabulous!

Was recommended this place by a friend and since the love for filipino food never ends we decided to give it a try and oh it was a treat for us.
For starters we ordered sweet chili chicken wings which was perfectly crisped and delicious.

They offered us a local beef soup which was alright...
For mains we had beef sisig and chicken adobo along with unlimited rice and bottomless ice tea.

A filling and delicious lunch for us and yes will definitely visit again.

I'm so happy with this place, kudos to the owners and whoever thought this place up!

Went here with my family one Saturday evening when we were all craving to use our hands and get intimate with our food hah.

We got the Luzon boodle fight which includes, unlimited rice, grilled bangus, grilled eggplant and okras, shrimps, crabs..

And with that, you get gulaman and iced tea - all for just 200 AED. Mmmm yum!

The waiters are brilliant, so much personality and so very helpful - very happy with this place!

The decor is very cute, quaint and literally screams out "Filipino Pride", showcasing the beauty of the Philippines, its history.

This place was suggested by a friend so we decided to try it out. We ordered inihaw na tadyang ng baka, ensaladang talong, iced tea, and sinampalukang manok which only totaled to AED113 for the three of us. On top of that, this was served with unlimited rice. Food was decent and ambiance was nice. Service was fast even though the place was packed.

Came for lunch since it is just a few steps away from my workplace. Loved the ambience and the food was really nice and affordable. We ordered the solo boodle fight. Mine was the grilled squid which came with unlimited rice(tho I did not need a 2nd serving since the 1st one was large enough for me), grilled eggplant, tomatoes, onions and shrimp paste.. and yes, Iced Tea!!!

Being an iced tea person as I have always mentioned in my reviews, theirs is really sooooo good! It reminds me of Wendy's Iced Tea back in the Philippines!

I'd definitely go back and bring my family, for the food and ICED TEA!!!

So far, the best Filipino restaurant that I and my family can attest to. Their boodle fight offers are cheap but will satisfy your cravings! Authentic Filipino food, simply the best!

Great food!!! Needs to improve the receiving area, No one is there to receive and assist the guest if where they want to be seated...It's like find your own place,.. Good thing that we decided to seat upstairs and meet the jolly and friendly waiter (Sorry! I forgot his name) Papaitan is one of the best soup ever!! We will visit again soon and we will try other foods,..

Love the place! Love their so filipino concept with patriotism. They've got pictures of heros on their wall, and the staff wear tradituinal filipino clothes.

I love how they design their menu too, from a chopping board. Very sturdy indeed!

The food is awesome, from the bulalo to the seafood boodle, its one of the few places where you can find authentic pinoy taste. They name their group sets from the major islands of the Philippines, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. I dont want to get historic about this but each set caters the culture of each region.

Kudos to the owners!

We didn't know about this place until our friends invited us on a short notice last Thursday. When we arrived during dinner time, the resto was already bustling with a LOT of people which could only mean it should be a big hit. I would say we were not disappointed!

Taste - We ordered Beef Kare-kare, beef sisig and iced tea for drinks. Unlimited rice is served along with these. The Kare-kare comes in a small palayok so we thought the order was a small portion but when you dig right through, it's good for about 3 persons. I loved how the eggplant was I believed fried (not healthy I know) but Filipinos have this as a dish on it's own so it was amazing for me! :) The sisig was oily but regardless was very tasty. We still had take home after.

Price - We spent approximately AED 100 for 2 persons. It's good value for money since the portions were big and you get unlimited rice.

Service - At first I was annoyed because they didn't seem organized about the queuing system. They kept changing their mind which table to put us! But I'll still give it to them because the servers were friendly plus we came on a busy night.

Ambience - the place looked nice showing portraits of our national heroes so if you bring friends of other nationalities, at least they can learn a bit of our history. I hope they would have taken a bigger space though because it was too cramped even for the servers running in and out.

Filipino cuisine comes up top as one of my favorite cuisines, so naturally discovering new Filipino joints excites me. Carinderia Ni Tandang Sora is a newly open Restaurant situated in Deira just opposite Deira City Center at the Centurion Star Tower. We were given a very warm welcome by jovial staff who offered us a table. We went inside to browse the place before settling on the al fresco sitting area.

I instantly fell in love with the walls covered with pictures hanging on braided ropes displaying portraits of historical Filipino figures. There is a sense of history, culture and pride carried in these pictures that made me smile. The wooden stairs and furniture give a pleasant and inviting atmosphere. The place is reasonably sized with duplex seating space.

The menu was filled with numerous authentic options that left us spoilt for choice. Mary Anne, our waitress suggested we try the chicken adobo (chicken marinated in vinegar, soy sauce, and garlic browned in oil, and simmered in the marinade, apparently considered as the unofficial national dish in the Philippines and beef sisig (cubes of beef marinated in soy and other delicious sauces mixed with capsicum and garlic served on a sizzling pan with an egg). We also ordered sweet chili chicken wings as a starter.

We were offered a beef broth like soup as an appetizer. The soup had little chunks of beef and onion in it. It tasted absolutely delicious but a bit salty. The wings were, juicy succulent and fresh with a bit of a crispiness to them. The sauce was balanced and not overpowering, just pure finger licking goodness.

The chicken adobo was nothing short of perfection. It was actually my first time having adobe as I was frightened at the thought of eating chicken marinated in vinegar. I am glad I took May Anne’s suggestion and didn’t err on the side of caution. The adobo was filled with so much flavor. The garlic was prominent and the strong hints of barbeque and peppercorns which added some crunch. I could hardly taste any hints of vinegar. This was a beautiful dish.

All dishes are accompanied with unlimited rice, which is delightful. They also provide gloves if you want to use your hands to savor the experience even more. I loved the perfectly cooked rice too.

The beef sisig was also another taste bud pleaser. The heartiness of this meal never ceases to amaze me. I loved the savory fusions of the flavors except I thought the beef was a little sparse and they could have added more garlic.

To drink we had the bottomless iced tea which proved very refreshing and not too sweet. Perfect with the meal.

This place is now one of my new favorite spots and I am sure to visit again. It offers such great value for money and portions are generous. Overall such enjoyable and efficient service and a bunch of friendly people. The food was great quality. They have sure won themselves a new convert. You have to try it out. There is apparently a branch in Karama too which I would be more than happy to try out.

What to try:
- Crispy tadyang ng baka is beef cooked to crispy-perfection;
- Chicken tocino if you're into filipino breakfast.
What I liked:
- Authentic filipino cuisine, the type that you'll taste during Fiestas;
- Affordable price;
- Very friendly staff;
- Good selection of food.

What I didn't like:
- The foods offered in their boodle fights doesn't taste good together.
- Only two drinks available (gulaman and iced tea) which both needs improvement.

I brought my European friends here last Friday to introduce authentic traditional Filipino dining and they absolutely loved it! I suggested the food platter wherein you eat with your hands on banana leaves - they really liked this concept. The food platter came with grilled beef, marinated crabs and shrimps, fried fish, grilled vegetables and bulalo ( beef soup). We also ordered kare-kare (beef in peanut sauce) and beef spareribs! I was surprised to find them enjoying all the different dishes, and according to them EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS.

They absolutely enjoyed this dining experience and were delighted with the bill. We were 4 people who ordered 1 main platter, 3 mains and one dessert and the bill was only AED 350.00! We live in the Marina area and thus this price was a big WOW.

I highly recommend this place to everyone who wishes to taste authentic filipino food.
