Second try of Jack's Plaice after being disappointed with my first try but spurred on by the recent good reviews. This time I managed to get delivery to JVT vie Deliveroo and well done Jack's for signing up with them. I had my food in 18 minutes!!! amazing.
Glad to see the chips are totally different to last time, they are much much better, almost as good as UK chippy chips which is a great improvement. The chip portion has been increased but I think they could add more as tbh I did need to order an additional portion to get enough. This fish this time was good, cooked properly, if only they can research a way to try and keep the batter crispy in transit, not Jack's fault and it was still nice and crispy on the ends.
Overall a vast improvement and now easily the best fish n chips I've had in 9 years in Dubai. Miles better than their more well known competitors. The management at Jack's have obviously taken the time to read feedback and implement changes quickly.
Please keep doing this and strive for improvement and please please please don't let standards drop like so many place do in Dubai after they've been open for a while.
My favorite fish and chips place in Dubai! The portion sizes are so great. Tried their fish and chips and their chicken mushroom pie, both were delicious! Definitely going back there with some friends soon ��
Had a fantastic meal at Jacks Plaice, proper fresh cooked fish and chips and was just what my wife and I were hoping for. We sat outside and the staff and service was great. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a proper British chippy.
Love this place! The pies are amazing and so meaty . The fish is lightly battered and not greasy .. perfect for delivery or you can dine in at Reddy Roast next door �
The portions were huge! I absolutely loved the cod recommended by the staff and the burger my wife ordered was delicious too! Nice and clean interiors. We loved the experience.
Lovely fish and chips! Tastes exactly like the British style we know and love. Thanks a lot for the quick service, we sat down and placed our order and within 10 mins recieved our food.
Jack's plaice is one of my favorite food. All of their burgers are so delicious especially the double whammy beef burger. It was freshly baked and the food was delivered to me hot before time with friendly driver. This burger had fresh vegetables and two properly cooked beef patties. I am definitely going to try again. Must give it a try!

Jack’s Place is a British style restaurant in which their specialty is burgers, as well as fish and chips. I had the North Sea Cod which was a huge piece of fish, probably the biggest that I have ever had for fish and chips. The interesting thing about this restaurant is that they serve the fish in one piece, uncut. The fillet of fish was juicy and cooked perfectly.

This was one of the few places that I enjoyed top quality British food, awesome place, simple interiors but having a splendid menu to take you back to Britain. Cozy seating area, wooden and iron theme going around, decent lighting, keeps the place vibrant.
We started with a kale & Quinoa salad, and it comes with a choice of meat ( if you wish, by paying extra). This was one huge dish, two people can easily enjoy this wonderful dish. fresh kale leaves, comes with wild cherry tomatoes, red radish, feta cheese, pomegranate, which balances between the fresh kale flavours and the sour cheese, this was amazing flavours, they even have a beetroot based hummous, all comes in bed of quinoa. splendid. We ordered ours with roast beef, needless to say, this was one fantastic way to start here.
Next we ordered Fish n chips, Beef roast and a double whammy burger. The north sea cod,was fantastic, perfectly battered and fried, crispy golden color. The fish was fresh and had the right texture, We have had quite a many FnC here and in UK, but this was ranking amongst the best we have had. Again, the portion size was amazing. The beef roast was another excellent dish, these guys know what they are talking about when it comes to roast, perfect cut, succulent. and was heavenly with the gravy. The stuffings and the Yorkshire pudding, we all yelling British. As I said earlier, this was one fantastic place to enjoy traditional dishes. The double whammy was ok for me, found the patty a bit hard, but apart from that there was perfect harmony with self and food here.
You come and here and spend some quality time with yourself, not too crowded, here you enjoy good food, nothing fancy here but they stick to their basics in giving out best in British cooking. One thing which I definitely need to address is the customer service. The guys here are well trained, they know their menu, their hospitality, wonderful. Ariel was taking good care of us. Overall it was a well spent time. though the drive was long it was worth. Anyone in Sports City area, you gotta visit this place, as you are sure to love it.
Totally Agree with amirs comment, Great place for authentic British styled fish and chips, with mushy peas. A must visit place for lovers of Cod and chips.
Best fish and chips in Dubai, it's a shame about the average reviews. We dined in, ordered the cod burger and cod and chips. Everything was fantastic, looking forward to going back.
Finally I’ve found a place that does Authentic British Fish and Chips that tastes just like the UK.
The portions were big, filling and cooked just right.
I cannot fault the place. Good amount of seating, clean and excellent service.

Had the North sea cod with chips and it was atleast as good as any top end fish shop in the UK.

One of the closest things I have had to proper chip shop chips in my 26 years here! Amazing. Not a fan of their fishcake though, weirdly sweet but everything else is top notch. The curry sauce is devine and their pots are perfect.

We loved the place we tried their special fish and chips . Such huge fish , deep fried but not oily at all . The batter was crispy and good . Only suggestion would be if they could make a price option too .
The quantity is good for two . This is located next to reddy roasters .

Jack's Plaice is a small chippy located at the base of the Venetian Building Prominade, along the Canal Residences in Dubai Sports City. Its take-away oriented interior is simple, tile-wall traditional and free of the fishy, vinegary smell often associated with fish and chips shops in the UK. There are no tables or chairs, only a small lean-on counter (which is usually hogged by the delivery boys). If you want to dine in you’ll need to go next door to (big) sister concern, Reddy’s Roasts.
The menu includes real cod and haddock, fried crispy in batter. It’s as close to the real thing as it gets and, even if it is a little oily, it’s far, far better than other offerings at the same price. In fact, the haddock I had was better than most I have had in Dubai – at any price. The chips however are a total let down. They look like (and probably are) straight out of a bag in the freezer – not nice. On the other hand, the mushy peas are spot on. The tartar sauce is the best I’ve had.
Unless you live within the immediate vicinity, I don’t recommend home delivery as the crunchy crust will get all soggy and mushy. Make the effort to come and dine in at Reddy’s. Décor and ambiance is good, service is friendly, accommodating, and fast.
Waste NOT. Want NOT.

Visited this place last week for dinner and I decided go for the above mentioned dishes . All of them was freshly prepared and served within 15 mins of time which is pretty quick . Me being a fan of the British food I really enjoyed it . Staff people were really friendly to me . Over all had a very good experience at Jack's Plaice .
I was around sports city on work and thought of this place for lunch. Seeing couple of not so great reviews in zomato was quite aphrensive , however my hunger took me there and now i say it was a right choice.
We had fish and chips and pie of the day and for drinks had Vanilla icecream floats and Mixed berry fresh smoothie.

Mixed berry smoothie---Its a must have ...outstanding
Fish and chips----Traditional way, but the fish was really fresh which was a delicacy in every bite
Jacks Pie---Was super yum with that chunks of cod fish however too cheesy.... Not looking at your calories or you are a cheese lover this is going to be your weakness here and you wouldnt stop having it .
Overall a delectable meal .
Strange to read the negatives as I use the restaurant a lot and never had a bad meal? regularly have the fish and chips, pies are great. Everybody I know loves the place? To see such poor reviews is just against my and my colleague's experiences???????????
Excellent service and the food was just incredible. By far the best value I've found in UAE for top notch fish and chips. I really like the layout of the place and there really isn't anything I could fault. We sat outside and they even brought a burner to put off the flies from our food. Can't wait to go back!
We just ordered now, the food was fantastic, proper fat British and chips, good gravy, mushy pees and good fish. Will order again for sure. We got extra chips as well. I would only add that the veg pie needs to be a bit bigger and more filled out for the price.
I placed an order for delivery. A burger, cod and lamb roast. The food was delivered fast and the packaging was nice. Cod was just ok, the chips would be much better if they weren't mixed with the gravy. The roast was nice and the vegetables were delicious. I would try this place again.
The star of the show is the fish and it should be. There are a few minor problems with the sides but nothing that won't put you off your food.
Chips are good but need an extra few seconds in the frier. The mushy peas are great. Curry sauce good. Unfortunately they give you coleslaw! Weird. Scraps are available on request. Amazing.
Service is quick and efficient. Friendly staff and good music make the atmosphere pleasing and relaxing.
Outdoor area great for the winter. Defo recommend

Ordered the cod, grilled - great to have that option. The mushy peas were a bit watery though, not so much the mush like the original. Taste wise quite nice, take out packaging makes the chips quite soggy though. Will be trying the place again, especially since it's right downstairs :)
Worth a visit if you're missing fish n chips - except the chips aren't quite perfect yet! Jack's is still finding it's feet, having only opened a couple of weeks ago, but this has the potential to be one of the few places in Dubai that offers REAL fish n chips. Will definitely visit again!

Great traditional British fish and chips. The North Sea cod was big,meaty and batter just like home. Comes with proper chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce. Really good sized portion too and really tasted like Home. Will definitely make this a habit now 👍🏻

The fish and chips were excellent. The serving was absolute value for money. I also ordered mushroom and chicken pie which were perfectly cooked to charge up your taste buds.
The outdoor seating arrangement is available adjacent to the water canal which makes dinner more enjoyable.
In short, a prefect English fish and chips restaurant.

Fantastic Fish and Chips UK style. I gave tried many places in Dubai for fish and chips but Jack’s place has to be the best so far. I would recommend eating inside when it’s nice and hot

Really really good English/traditional fish n chips with great side dishes (vegetables, yorkshire pudding, etc).
They obviously have more on the menu and can see others ordering burgers, etc but my family I go here for the amazing fish and chips.
