Must Try: SPRING BAMBOO, HALAL Chinese Restaurant in Dubai! A very good chinese food options with Fresh Ingredients and Authentic Flavor 😍🤗
Add : Opposite American Hospital, Near Movenpick Hotel, Oud Metha, Dubai
Price : 100 aed for 2 people
Authentic chinese restaurant located in oud metha. It`s a bit difficult to locate when you are walking nearby, but you could easily notice the tour buses dropping off the tourists here. I`ve tried their "Fried chicken with oyster sauce " and "Fried egg and chicken rice" Both dishes were tasty and staff was friendly. Their complimentary fruit at the end was a very kind gesture. But keep in mind that they do not accept credit cards here in this restaurant. I will definitely come back to try their other dishes.
Excellent authentic Chinese in Oud Mehta . If you visit it once you will definitely get hooked to it.staff is all Chinese and hardly understand English . But there is one menu with pictures that helps you order . Hot and sour soup 🍲 is very unique and tasty. Beef sizzling and sea food sizzling are top of the line . At the end you are served with oranges and watermelon which are cherry on the top . Only negative thing is it’s entrance is not very cleAn . Food is amazing .
It’s a legit Chinese place including the difficulty to communicate, I think this is as negative as it gets.
Their Chili Crab is outstanding enough for me to take a picture before eating it. The soy duck is a full 5/5, their hot and sour soup is another 5/5 however the Wonton clear soup is probably appreciated by a palette which isn’t mine.
Chinese restaurants aren’t hard to find but this one must be visited. Be patient, don’t let their silence be confused for them being rude.
Truly Authentic !! Ever crave for Chinese, this is the best place to have authentic Chinese food. A rating less for the service due to communication barrier, but if you know what you wanna eat then you get it on your table within minutes.
Sizzling pepper chicken & hamour with soy sauce is a must try.
Very good Chinese food. It's not Hakka or Indian Chinese. The choices are different so if you're not used to non-Hakka Chinese then it will be a tough choice.
We ordered the mixed fried rice, deep fried prawns in sesame and the stir fried lamb with chilli. All three dishes were excellent. The portions are also good. Loved the prawns as they were cooked perfectly and had the right crisp and crunch. The lamb was excellent as it was tender, perfectly cooked and had such a great sauce. The rice wasn't bad and had a good amount of non-veg items in it.
The service is good and dishes are quickly served. The prices are also very good. There's complimentary watermelon and orange slices served after the meal.
The only issue with the place is that it isn't cool. While the decor is nice it needs to improve on all areas being cooled as the table area we were seated at was very hot which didn't allow us to enjoy our meal even more.
Cuttle fish deep fried in yolk is a must
Hot and sour soup is a must
Hakka noodles with beef is a must
Manchurian is not authentic much.. i preffer the brown one . Here they make it red.
Anyway i like the place i always come here once every 8 months.... lol but its noce and clean food
My brothers been recommending this place for a more authentic Chinese experience rather than the usual Indo-Chinese players that have plagued the Old Dubai market. We walked into a rather empty restaurant at about 9pm. The staff is completely Chinese, so if you're looking out for someone to smile and give you wonderful service and suggestions, this might not be your choice. However, I've heard their lunch hours are way busier.
My brother recommended the fish in shichuan sauce which comes as a big bowl, with a kind of soupy hot-pot kind of sauce, with small pieces of fish. Though there was a lot of pieces of fish in the dish, the price was decent, and so was the quantity and taste. Not being a big fan of hotpot kind of dishes myself, this was something completely different and tasted very strong on the shichuan chilly which was different. We also ordered a plate of chicken steamed dumpling, which were alright. Nothing fancy if you're looking for something tasty, since these were quite bland.
Also ordered a pot of green tea to share between the two of us. At the end of your meal, they come and serve you with a small plate of complimentary watermelon slices and orange slices which was refreshing. Zomato pricing might not be the most reliable in this case, since we didn't end up spending more than 70 Dhs for the both of us. Will deffos go back for the fish!!
Spring Bamboo is the go to place for those who've recently moved back from Singapore/Hong Kong (like me) or those who genuinely enjoy authentic Chinese food. Im talking Horfun, spinning glass tables and Chinese drama in the background kind of authentic.
Head down if you're looking for quality, quantity, service and a plate of oranges and watermelon in the end ;)
What I'd Recommend :
Appetizers - I don't remember ever trying their starters (Yes i've been coming here since I was 6 hey ohh) . I always dive in straight for the main course
Main Course
Rice: Any of their fried rice (because they actually make it with the authentic thick grains that they use in the Far East)
Seafood: Black pepper crab (prepare to sweat and get your hands messy) and Cuttlefish ball (its seasonal but so much better than calamari rings)
Meats : Sizzling lamb with egg
Vegetables : Chinese cabbage and Mixed Chinese greens with garlic (because no Chinese meal is complete without veggies)
Dessert: Toffee Banana or Toffee Apple (if you're confused about the bowl of water, its for dipping the dessert in so that it cools down and you can eat it faster)
This is in a row of few very good quality of chinese eateries. Hallmark is neat and clean large seating area. Very fresh ingredients with lovely authentic food. Poor service. But superfast serving after ordering.
I heard much about this place. I was not that much impressed. Mainly the lackadaisical service put me off. Food is certainly exceptionally fresh. I tried the seafood with chinese tea. And chicken dumplings- they were many in number and cooked inattentively. Many were partially raw.
The menu gives english translation too- that's a big help. Few servers follow english well- i presume that they are filipinos.
Will visit again.
Authentic Chinese! Just had dinner here and the place was full of happy Chinese folks munching away with chopsticks and chatter. Ordered seafood soup, chicken egg fried rice and lamb stir fry with chilli. The flavors were bang on and the ingredients fresh. A complimentary platter of freshly cut orange wedges and watermelon slices was a nice touch. Decently priced neighborhood Chinese food not to be missed.
Another very good chinese food options. Being a regular next doors at the Lan Kwai Fong restaurant I never thought of stepping in here and today I realize what i was missing. Great food, fresh ingredients, authentic flavors from Szechuan and Hunan. I strong believe any restaurant using fresh green veggies crispy and crunchy in their chinese food are doing a good job with it. And Spring bamboo also chose to add the love of my life, shitake mushroom and black fungus. Mmmmmmmmm Yum!!
My order-
Sweet corn chicken soup, good but could have been sweeter.
Stir fried lamb with chillies excellent must try
Pak choy with Soy- Very good
Black bean chicken-OK
Fish in Szechuan Sauce-OK
Mixed fried rice-One of the best I have tried
Shark fin soup- Excellent,Must try
Chilly fried wings-Excellent
An excellent choice of affordable, authentic, non desi chinese food.
They take orders in chinese which is good to see!!

We had tried the Chinese over there, was very skeptical about the place and once we entered when asked they told us it's fully aunt hic. So was a bit afraid of the flavors and the taste.
But really love the hospitality of the reception lady and she told us to try and not to judge by hearing it authentic.
We ordered the Crab Corn Soup and it was surprisingly delicious and heavy, the small portion of it was enough for two of us.
For mains we ordered the chicken fried noodles and it was damn tasty and the authentic spices blended together was just perfect.
With the noodles we ordered Diced Chicken in Oyster sauce, it was spicy and very delicious and there was a very pungent taste and the chilli can be felt for a long time.
Overall the experience was good, will definitely go back to try out the other delicacies. The staff was good and the service very quick, the ambiance started out loud about the authenticity of the place.
First time for me and my husband to try and it's all worth it! Quality, taste, ambiance and service are very good. Food is at affordable price. While eating and even going back home we keep on talking on how nice dinner we had at this restaurant! Keep up the good service.
The most authentic Chinese food. The fact that the staff is not fluent in English goes to show that this is not a place frequented by tourists and hasn't been commercialized. If you have been to China you would definitely appreciate that this place is a piece of China right here in Dubai... Super recommended!
Probably the best Chinese around .... Two words too good ... I would recommend to anyone in the area . though the place is simple its clean .
Now this is Chinese food as I know it from my China days.
Excellent food.
The flavours virtually sing to your senses.
The meats are cooked just right and even the vegetables taste great.
The hot food is always hot and not lukewarm.
The consistency is great.
It is a place you can go to again and again. We have been there many times.
Service is good and efficient. The staff's English is not too good, but that allows me to practice my broken Chinese. Nevertheless, there are many who communicate in English only and there are a few staff who speak it quite well.
Real and authentic Chinese food here. You see, in Dubai, it is a fusion of different culture so some chinese restaurants give a different taste to their food, depending on their target market. The food is very good, especially the fried corn and the chicken cashew. Although, I would suggest for the chef not to be "very happy" in sprinkling salt to the fried corn dish. It just gets too salty. Language is sometimes a barrier in this restaurant. The servers do know how to speak english but sometimes it is difficult to communicate with them. However, this is one of those things that makes this restaurant an authentic Chinese restaurant. If you will order some drinks, try their bottled lemonade from China. It is very refreshing.
If this is authentic Chinese cuisine then sign me up. Went there with a friend last night and found the place empty. These situations don't faze me out nowadays. It's a brightly lit restaurant with a blend of contemporary and traditional interiors. We figured recommendations wouldn't be worthwhile and decided to lean towards the dishes we were well versed with.
We ordered Hot & Sour soup, Steamed Chicken Dumplings, Stir Fry Beef in Oyster Sauce, Kung Pao Chicken and Veg Fried Rice. The dishes arrived in a matter of minutes. The soup tasted somewhat different and had a pungent essence that made it unique. It kind of grew on me with every spoonful, unlike other joints where at times the soup is either too hot or too sour. This one differed by being a perfectly balanced hot and sour soup.
The beef was well cooked. Soft and full of flavour. Apart from the bell pepper, they added a combination of 2-3 various mushrooms thereby enhancing the taste. Kung Pao Chicken was good but unfortunately drenched in oil. The addition of broad beans made up for it though. I don't like dumplings so I didn't try them, but my friend really loved them. The fried rice was excellent and paired well with the beef.
I highly recommend this place. Quick service, generous quantity, fantastic quality.
Authentic chinese.. Tasty.. Enough and more quantity for soups and dishes as well..
Ordered hot and sour chicken soup medium 1/2 which was in itself very filling.. Recommend to go for the smallest portion of soups...
Tried chicken with cashew nuts , stir fry beef with black pepper and chicken/egg fried rice .... All excellent in taste and more than enough for 2
Bill was AED 107..
Overall good experience...
Go here nowwwww !!! Exceptional real chinese food and experience. My personal favourites are fried squid with salt n pepper, seafood soup, broccoli with garlic sauce and the complimentary Chinese fruit plate they serve at the end of the meal. The service makes you release that you are not Chinese and can't communicate. It's amazing to find such food in a world of junks.
Had a plan to try some thing that is really traditionally , authentically way to be made ..only the people that can make from their own region that's why we chose spring bamboo and a strong recommendation from Jim Joseph .. it was a Quite awesome experience .. with nice ambience of the feeling that we are in China ... food was pretty up to the quality.. ordered hot n sour soup.. sizzling shrimps... chicken n cashew nut .. seafood fried rice .. shrimps fried rice .. dishes was better than the other ... affordable.highly recommended for those who loves Chinese food
The food taste is similar to authentic chinese restaurant which is lacking in Dubai. We ordered steam fish, squids, home made tofu, pak Choy and lemon chicken. All were great though the fish is rather expensive. The ambience is great while the service is fair.
Another hidden gem amongst the overcrowded restaurant scene in Dubai! Been going there for around 10 yrs now, and the place has never disappointed us when it came to food! They serve authentic mainland Chinese food which is always cooked fresh! The employees are mainly Chinese and only some of them speak English. Expect efficient service and not friendly service! I rate this as one of my favorite restaurants in the city purely for their awesome food!
Oh my god! I've been calling this the "chinese restaurant" for 2 years finally found it on Zomato! This derives from the lack of authentic chinese cuisine in Dubai lol. Quite possibly the best Chinese restaurant in Dubai- so authentic and delicious. Perfect crab in black pepper sauce, beef was amazing too as well as the Chinese greens, fried rice and noodles. All cooked to perfection with the right amount of seasoning. Great value for money and good customer service; what else do you want?
They had a a recent makeover which made the restaurant so much more appealing. There was a hindi speaking female staff so made things easy but the Chinese staff do a great job too. Been going since two years- definitely a must try!
Hidden Gem for Authentic Chinese cuisine!
*The Gai Lan and the Bok Choy is done just as exquisitely as back at its origins.
*Noodle soup is definitely an easy meal in itself, a recommended dish
*Best avoided during Chinese Bus Tour visit times which happen a few times a day especially during lunch time.
There are a small number of authentic chinese restaurants in Dubai - unassuming Spring Bamboo is one of them. It has recently had a makeover, and is now a much nicer place to sit in. Thankfully, their food standards remain the same. I hadn't been here in a while and so walked in on a weeknight to find only a couple of tables full (both sets of patrons were Chinese though - a very good sign). It has a rather unfortunate location, right next to two Pakistani cafeteria restaurants that are frequented by taxi drivers. As a result, expect to be ogled if you're a woman.
Once inside, I felt better. I was handed a typically large menu and the waitresses are of no help if you're not chinese. When I asked for a recommended dish she told me to try the batter fried salt and pepper prawns. When I told her I wasn't a typical customer, and that I was looking for something more authentically chinese that they did well, she told me to try the chicken manchurian. So, basically useless. In addition, they also gave me a plate with a fork and spoon and I had to ask for proper chinese cutlery (a bowl and chopsticks). I saw the reason for their attitude a few minutes later as an Indian family walked in and only used the non-chinese cutlery. The same family were obviously restaurant regulars as they knew everyone by name, and i noticed they ordered the same manchurian chicken, sweetcorn soup etc. I think that most of their non-chinese patrons want these dishes and service.
Back to the food: I am rather a self starter and since I didn't have any help with the menu, I chose whatever sounded good. As a result I ended up with a stone grilled prawns in a spicy sour sauce. She told me i may not like it, I think because the prawns were grilled and sauced with the shells on. In addition I ordered some kai lan with black mushrooms and some pan fried dumplings. I had asked for shrimp dumplings and ended up with cabbage dumplings. Not great. It was practically impossible to properly communicate with the waitress however (she spoke incoherent english) and so I just let it go. The shrimp and the veggies were excellent though.
Final Verdict: this place is worth a try, especially if you want something not Indi- Chinese. Expect inconsistent/incoherent service and it may feel a little inaccessible as a result, but if you brave it you will have an excellent meal.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED – EXCELLENT AUTHENTIC CHINESE FOOD. Please IGNORE all reviews concerning the ambiance of this restaurant – Recently revamped and scaled up, up, up from head to toe, Spring Bamboo now has the Wow! to match the Yum – the place looked, felt and smelt like too much of a Dragon Mall canteen before. And similar to Chef Sam’s Lan Kwai Fong next door, it has softened (ever so slightly) it’s once hard-core ‘for Chinese only and to hell with the rest’ offering, making it in my mind, appealing to a much broader culinary audience. Service still remains very much lost in translation – there is a method to the madness though – remain calm and enjoy the food – it’s all good – irrespective of whether you’ve ordered it or not. This REINCARNATION of Spring Bamboo has shot straight into my Top Ten of Chinese restaurants in Dubai. And just as if to prove a point where the authenticity of the food was concerned, a busload of hungry Chinese tourists were shepherded in for lunch…thankfully just as we were leaving.
We've recently discovered this place so far during our twice dining experiences food has been good and it's a great value for money kinda place I surely do recommend going there if you're into authentic style Chinese food. They serve small portion hotpot as well.
Proper Chinese food.
Hear waitresses yelling at each other.
The atmosphere is complete with live seafood and simple Chinese decor.
Order:
Hot plate bean-curd
Egg yolk cuttlefish
Tang Chu chicken
Green veg fried with garlic
Hot plate beef
We are regulars here and we love the food except when there is a tour bus outside. There will be tons of Chinese tourists in the restaurant and the restaurant will be in over drive causing the quality of the food to drop sharply.
So advice: if u see a tour bus parked outside , avoid. Or just go before 12:30pm and get some nice Chinese food.
A hidden gem in Oud Metha. Spring Bamboo is another perfect example of authentic chinese restaurant. The service is superb and the food is wonderful. I specifically love their steamed fish with soy and garlic.
The food was Amazing.
Authentic Chinese food served at its best.

Authentic South China cooking. The food was great! The soup was tasty and did not appear to have much MSG if any... and probably most of their other dishes as well. The dishes were reasonably priced and in good portions. Their fried noodle wasn’t too greasy and not too salty either. The only complaint is the sweet and sour fish, which contained too much batter.😕 It would have been more authentic if the fish had capsicum, carrots and pineapples. Overall worth going again. Warning: the restaurant can be quite busy with tour groups at lunch time. ⚠️

One of the oldest Chinese restaurants in dubai. If you dont care about interior design n furniture or staff professionality then go n try their chili crab. It's very tasty. Go in big group if u like to try many foods.
