. (التعليق الأصلي) Sri Lankan Food goals happening !! For the first time trying out some Sri Lankan food in Dubai have been so excited to try them out .. coz as far as I know there are only few of the Sri Lankan restaurants in Dubai serving the authentic food .. visited them Evening time with few of my blogger friends along . The interiors was so vibrant in colors and lightings were they have graffiti look alike paintings on the wall and false ceiling was done perfectly with the hanging warm lights that gave it a cozy feel inside the restaurant. Coming to the food .. we ordered few fresh juices initially where I liked the wood apple juice which was something different to try out .. and now for the starters ( short eats on the menu) were they had chicken roll , egg roll , tuna cutlets , fish patties, lentil fritters served hot with ketchup It’s a must try out there .. its super yummy snacks they have .. Sri Lanka is a country that loves their deep fried snacks and so do they have a lot many varieties among .. Though Sri Lankan food has parallels to South Indian food, yet it remains distinctly its own form of cuisine Then for mains they did have both veg and non veg options I tried the kothu which is much famous out in srilanka as they say .. it tasted too good too delicious carving more for it now !!! My friends had gone for veg choupsey ,egg nasigorang , prawn Biriyani, tiger chicken . For desserts we had the watalappam pudding which tasted similar to some South Indian jaggery ada So yeah loved the taste so much :) Overall it was really nice being there for great food with really good company Whatever you choose to eat at @cinnamontree_dubai your mouth is going to rejoice with happiness. Thankyou for having me over @cinnamontree_dubai Thankyou for the invite @surenrajamohan . .

(التعليق الأصلي) Follow me on Instagram @scribblesandclicks for more food updates. I visited this humble Sri Lankan restaurant and was honestly mind blown by the options and variety they have to offer. This is a simple yet vibrant place. The interior colours and graffiti works bring this place alive and if you are anything like me and love yourself some #InstaWorthyPictures you should definitely go there. Now coming to the main thing, food - I am a huge seafood lover so this place was heaven for me. For starters (short eats on the menu) I tried their egg roll, tuna cutlets , fish patties, lentil fritters and chicken roll. All good tasted really nice. Now lets talk about the main dish - I simply loved their devil prawns and devil chicken. It is a must try, the spice is just perfect (You can let the chef know if you want it hot or mild). I also tried their chicken kothu, Egg Nasi Goreng, Prawns Biryani, Fish Ambul Thiyal and Veg Chop Suey. Everything was perfect but my favourite remains the devil chicken and devil prawns. Drinks - I tried their apple, orange, lemon and mint and Wood Apple. It was the first time I had Wood Apple and it has become one of my favs. It is a must try when you visit Cinnamon tree.

(التعليق الأصلي) for more reviews follow me on Instagram @stranded.foodie My first time trying Sri Lankan menu. Sri Lankan food Is known for spicy food, but this place customises this for you. Being a south Indian , I could find so many similarities. Specially the Hoppers and Mutton pepper fry was so much reminding me of home. They have outdoor seating , I am waiting for winters to experience this! Staff and very friendly and courteous. The interiors are also innovative! It’s a small neat and cosy place in busy Deira. Must try - Hoppers, Mutton Pepper, fresh juice and cheesecakes.

(التعليق الأصلي) Us trying Sri Lankan cuisine has been long overdue and recently tried out newly opened Cinnamon Tree which totally blew us away with some mega seafood collection. Our expectation was that food would be spicy which was true for some dishes(we like spicy) & in addition they also had a few non spicy dishes as well. We tried the sea food soup(5/5) Hot Batter Cuttlefish(5/5 non-spicy), King Fish Devilled(5/5), Prawns Devilled(5/5) and Crab in Coconut based Gravy(4/5 - gravy was awesome), fruit juices(4/5 - minimal sugar used, wood apple was amazing), coconut water(4/5) and vattalappan(5/5 - very unique sri lankan dessert). In terms of ambience they have a mix of modern art + sri lankan tradition. It's a small restaurant but with brilliant food. Food took some time to prepare but was definitely worth the wait. Overall glad that I tried sri lankan for the first time here.

(التعليق الأصلي) A small outlet that has recently opened up with decent spacing both indoors and outdoors. The decor was divided between the traditional design and graffiti at the other end which welcomes all cultures to try their food. The outdoor seating has a staircase that leads you to a pool area where you can hold events, parties and gathering where the catering will be provided by the restaurant. Bite Board Drinks: We started off with a chocolate milkshake which was refreshing. We were suggested to try another drink named wood apple which was a Sri Lankan delicacy. Wood apples also go by the anme of elephant apples or monkey fruits. The flavors were similar to a overripe banana with a tinge of tartness. It would be a good detox drink but did not suit our palate. Short Eats: Since, there is no concept of starters in Sri Lanka, we were offered with deep fried snacks that are reasonably fried from AED 2 onwards. The platter had puff pastry, fish cutlets, pastries and rolls served with ketchup on the side. They are known for their deep fried dishes, so if you’re a seafood lover you will definitely find lots of options. Mains Chicken Wings [AED 12]: The wings were grilled, seasoned with pepper and garnished with onions, not much to rave about. Chicken Devilled [AED 23]: This was very similar to the chinese flavors of sweet and sour chicken. We would have preferred it, if the dish was boneless because there seemed to be less meat. Mutton Pepper [AED 22]: Having heard that Sri Lankan cuisine is really spicy, we were expecting something more fiery but unfortunately this was not the case, considering the location the spices were really mild but could be customized according to your preferences. The meat was had a rubbery texture and was hard to eat. Hoppers {AED 3]: The hoppers were similar to Kerala cuisine and went well along with the mutton pepper. Chicken Nasi Goreng [AED 27]: There were options for rice and noodles. We picked the noodles and it came topped with a fried egg. Influenced by the Indonesian dish and cooked in Sri Lankan style nasi goreng has gained a lot of popularity over the years with its flavors. It was cooked well, but we have had better ones before. Service: The staff was friendly but the service was slow due to the focus on deliveries. Cash Outflow: The prices are reasonable as well as they are listed on Zomato Gold which makes it even better.

One of the best Srilankan authentic cuisine I ever had in Dubai. More over hygienic and well maintained. Very friendly atmosphere . I did tried chicken fried rice , nasi goreng and beef fried. All were best of its taste. I can recommend their food personally . Take my word on this . Finish up with a ginger tea (inguru teh). Taste if for yourself . Nevertheless best in the town. Hope this restaurant will keep up there taste consistent. All the best

Small little cute eat out in Al Rigga.<br/><br/>They have a variety of Srilankan Food. We went here for lunch and had a pretty nice experience.<br/>It is pretty crowded on Friday afternoons.<br/><br/>We ordered the following.<br/>Chicken wings - they are fully fried and tasty. Nice one.<br/><br/>Deviled Fish - It is a mixed of fish cubes marinated well along with veggies. Tasted pretty nice also has a sweet edge to it.<br/><br/>Fried Prawns - This is also nice. The prawns taste good made in a spicy mix of onions, chillies and tomato. However, they are with the skin. You'd have to peel it.<br/><br/>Chicken Koththu - This is nice and spicy. A mix of chicken and a few more veggies finely chopped. Goes well with chappati.<br/><br/>Nasi Goreng - The Chicken Nasi Goreng was just amazing! Loved the flavor. Quantity is also pretty good.<br/><br/>We also tried the snacks like a Fish bun from the display at the counter. It was nice.<br/><br/>The ambience is decent and there is also parking available outside.<br/>

Food is the key that opens the door to explore a culture. In order to explore the vast cultures of different countries around the world, you do not necessarily require traveling. You can experience the diversity and traditions clasped in our planet earth easily through food. <br/>And I somewhat did the same. Got to relish Sri Lankan cuisine in Dubai this restaurant. They serve authentic Sri Lankan food. <br/>The starters included variety of snacks with meat, fish and veg fillings. You can’t stop eating just one piece. So go there with empty stomach😆<br/>I got to taste their Pol roti accompanied by sambol, spicy chicken & fish curry. Also the yellow rice with variety of curries & veg stir fry. String hoppers were of 2 types, white & brown. <br/>Their speciality drinks come in bottles. Ginger beer(non-alcoholic), cream soda & wood apple drink. The ginger one is a must have to beat the post lunch slumps.<br/>And there is always place for dessert. We ordered Watalappam ,the steamed jaggery based pudding. Tastes amazing. Also the crowd pleasing creme caramel. <br/>After all we had an amazing Sri Lankan feast that afternoon.

CINNAMON TREE RESTAURANT: If you are happy to have spicy food you’d better really mean it and this is the right place. Mostly, they use similar ingredients to those used in Indian curries but with both pepper and chilli to give your curry an extra kick. Whatever you choose to eat here, your mouth is going to rejoice with happiness.<br/><br/>We had some delicious appetizers and main course including-<br/><br/>Triangular rotis : The triangular looking pockets are a form of roti filled with a range of different ingredients. Fish was my favourite filling, but there were also some nice vegetarian versions available. Instead of being deep fried like samosas, triangle roti’s are just skillet fried. <br/><br/>Pol rotis: These are made with freshly grated coconut, flour, water and salt. They are made into balls of dough, flattened, and then cooked on a hot griddle. Even though any form of spicy curry sauce handles the task of being the dip for a delicious pol roti; the spicy marvelous flaky salty chili sauce and pol sambol goes well with it.<br/>Pol salmbol is merely a mixture of shredded coconut, chili powder or dried chilies, lime juice, red onions, and salt – and believe me, every bite is like a miracle come true.<br/><br/>Rice served with dhal curry, wambatu moju, chicken dry curry and potato curry .This combo was just like a mini thali. Dhal curry, is the most common curry in all of Sri Lankan cuisine, a staple in any restaurant or household. Masoor dhal (split red lentils) are first rinsed and boiled until soft. Wambatu moju (eggplant/brinjals pickle) is an extremely flavorful candied eggplant (brinjals) pickles.<br/><br/>String hoppers : String hoppers are made from a much thicker dough. The dough is squeezed through a string hopper maker, like a pasta press, to create thin strands of noodles, which are steamed. It was a very nice combination with spicy fish curry and chicken curry. <br/>Fish curry: usually something large and firm, such as tuna -- is cut into cubes, then sauteed in a blend of spices including black pepper, cinnamon, turmeric, garlic, pandan leaves and curry leaves.<br/><br/>Desserts:<br/>Watalappam: Steamed pudding made of coconut milk, jaggery, cashew nuts, eggs and spices. It was an amazing dessert. <br/>Caramel pudding: As we know its an international favourite and each country as its own version. This truly was delicious.<br/><br/>Beverages:<br/>Wood apple nectar : The wood apple is a Southeast Asian fruit about the size of a de-husked coconut. It also has just as hard of a shell, and a pungent, almost blue cheese aroma.<br/>Ginger beer: A non alcholic beer, is a blend of ginger and lemon and the taste was super delicious.<br/>Cream soda: The taste was ok.<br/><br/>The ambience was very cozy and welcoming. The interior was great with wall paintings , hanging lights etc . The staff were friendly. They also have outdoor dining arrangement with pool and the venue can be used for party and gatherings.<br/><br/>I will definitely visit again to try their seafood delicacies.<br/><br/>Eatwithafriya {Suren Rajamohan}

And my fav was the Egg Pastry.<br/><br/>In main we had the authentic  non-veg thalis came with one non-veg dish and 3 veg dishes, hmm.  The veggies came in the form of a daal, potato curry, aubergine curry. <br/>And we also got a plate of coconut rice laced with spices and curry leaves. Yeah, coconut plays a big part in Sri Lankan cuisine.<br/>My Fish curry was really good, deliciously spicy and goes well with the string hoppers.<br/><br/>We tried their aerated drinks all the way from Sri-Lanka.<br/>For dessert i like the Wattalapam, jaggery and coconut  based dessert in the form of pudding.<br/><br/>Overall Cinnamon Tree is a fantastic place to try authentic srilankan cuisine at a true value for money pricing.

Visited this restaurant on a Thursday night based on reviews on zomato. The experience wasn't that great. The waiting time for the food to arrive was almost an hour. We ordered kottu, nasi goring, chopsuey, prawns sweet and sour and hot butter cuttlefish. The batter used for hot butter cuttlefish and the sweet and sour was so thick and lumpy, in fact we couldn't even find the prawns and the cuttlefish. The rest was okay, quantity was decent. The food wasn't as amazing as some reviews on zomato.

My family and I were craving some authentic Sri Lankan food and we landed up just at the right place. It is a tiny place, with indoor and outdoor seating. Their decor was simple and has everything elephants, which was pretty to look at. We were given complimentary soups for starters and we ordered the<br/>String hoppers - Potato curry and Polsambal (Must try. The flavour in each of these items were perfect and all of these went together so well)<br/>Veg Kothu (This was good, but expected it to be more spicy)<br/>Kankun Garlic (A simple yet delicious dish)<br/>Wood apple juice (If you like wood apple, you’d like this one)<br/>The portions were good. The service was prompt and quick, in spite of it being a Saturday night. The staff were courteous. Pocket-friendly. Overall, a very good experience.

Authentic Sri Lankan which can be modified as per your dietary requirements and warm hospitality is what this place is about!<br/><br/>I enjoyed my experience here which started off with some juices, wood apple juice is my favorite and was quite unique. At this place, short eats (deep-fried) are must-have, perfect appetizers which range from AED 2 to AED 7, it left me craving for more! My mains consisted of the Veg choupsey and Egg Nasi Goreng, both delicious and flavorful! <br/><br/>The last was definitely the best part, desserts! Wattalapam, jaggery based dessert in the form of pudding, is one of the tastiest Asian desserts I've had! I've never been a fan of jaggery cuz of its extra sweetness but here it was balanced and perfect.

The interiors was so vibrant in colors and lightings were they have graffiti look alike paintings on the wall and false ceiling was done perfectly with the hanging warm lights that gave it a cozy feel inside the restaurant. <br/>Coming to the food .. we ordered few fresh juices initially where I liked the wood apple juice which was something different to try out .. and now for the starters ( short eats on the menu) were they had chicken roll , egg roll , tuna cutlets , fish patties, lentil fritters served hot with ketchup <br/>It’s a must try out there .. its super yummy snacks they have .. Sri Lanka is a country that loves their deep fried snacks and so do they have a lot many varieties among .. Though Sri Lankan food has parallels to South Indian food, yet it remains distinctly its own form of cuisine<br/>Then for mains they did have both veg and non veg options <br/>I tried the chicken kothu which is much famous out in srilanka as they say .. it tasted too good too delicious carving more for it now !!! <br/>My friends had gone for veg choupsey ,egg nasigorang , prawn Biriyani, tiger chicken , fish ambul Thiyal <br/>For desserts we had the watalapan pudding which tasted similar to some South Indian jaggery ada <br/>So yeah loved the taste so much :) <br/>Overall it was really nice being there for great food with really good company<br/>Whatever you choose to eat at @cinnamontree_dubai your mouth is going to rejoice with happiness.<br/>Thankyou for having me over @cinnamontree_dubai <br/>Thankyou for the invite @surenrajamohan .<br/>.

I had ordered chicken lamp rice and I don’t think the amount of rice and curry in it not worth the price we paid which is 30 AED. So it would be great if there were more rice and curries at least enough for two ppl. Beside that, food was nice.

<br/><br/>We visited Cinnamon Tree restaurant for a blogger's meet for lunch.<br/><br/>We were one of the first bloggers to reach the venue. One step into the restaurant and we felt like we were in Sri Lanka. This was the first time we were going to try Srilankan cuisine which was a little scary for us but their cozy interiors, friendly staff, and warm hospitality made us feel very comfortable.<br/><br/>The review started with some snack items like dal vada and veg rotties. Both these items were cooked to perfection with the right amount of spice.<br/><br/>We then enjoyed some yummy and hot corn soup and mushroom soup, both served with bread and butter. The consistency of the soups was thick and both were super delicious, different from the soups we get at other restaurants.<br/><br/>The main course consisted of vegetable koththu and vegetable chop suey rice. Filled with flavor and veggies, these dishes are a total value for money.<br/><br/>We also had some fresh juices. We highly recommend the wood apple juice which is native to Srilanka and is a refreshing delight to the taste buds.<br/><br/>Although we were unhappy with the slow service, this is one place we would like to visit once again to try some non-vegetarian cuisine next time.<br/><br/>Price - 4/5<br/><br/>Presentation 4/5<br/><br/>Taste - 5/5<br/><br/>Service - 2/5<br/><br/>Value for money - 5/5<br/><br/>Ambiance - 3/5<br/><br/>RG verdict - 3.8/5<br/><br/> <br/><br/>Subscribe to our YouTube channel - RipplezzGallore<br/><br/>Follow us on Instagram - @ RipplezzGallore, @thegreatmb16, @carolmathias17<br/><br/>Like us on Facebook - @RipplezzGallore    <br/><br/>

Authentic Sri Lankan cuisine.<br/><br/> This is a much needed outlet in this area, which has a multi national communities where each of them get to try and taste what each of their nations have as their identity.  The place looks clean, with vibrant  with colourful walls, a front cabinet that sells traditional Sri Lankan savories. Further to the back you have a separate area for a much closer set up.

There are only a handful of Srilankan restaurants in Dubai despite the fact that there is a sizable population of Sri Lankans living and working in Dubai. This is slowly changing as more and more Sri Lanks are moving to this country in search of a better career.  The dynamics of their need to eat out are also changing.  So restaurants like Cinnamon Tree are here to save the day and offer not just for Sri Lankan's but anyone who appreciates that regions cuisine, good dining options in Dubai.

We decided to try this place out as we were craving Sri Lankan food. As all Sri Lankan restaurants, the staff are very friendly. We didn’t require a lot of help with selecting the dishes as we had a Sri Lankan friend with us.<br/><br/>We had the hot butter squid, a beef kothu, a chicken and cheese kothu and lamprais. The kothus were both delicious, although the beef kothu was quite spicy for me. The hot butter squid was a let down as it wasn’t cuttlefish to begin with. The coating was too thick and the taste was more Chinese than Sri Lankan. The lamprais wasn’t up to the mark either. I’ve tasted better at other Sri Lankan restaurants.<br/><br/>For dessert, we had the Watalapam which is cardamom spiced coconut-custard. This was absolutely delicious. We also had yoghurt with kithul syrup. This wasn’t as good as what you get in Sri Lanka because of the local yoghurt taste. Can’t really do much about that 🤷🏻‍♀️ <br/><br/>Prices are reasonable and even better with Zomato Gold. Worth a try!
Hoggers In Dubai
Us trying Sri Lankan cuisine has been long overdue and recently tried out newly opened Cinnamon Tree which totally blew us away with some mega seafood collection. Our expectation was that food would be spicy which was true for some dishes(we like spicy) & in addition they also had a few non spicy dishes as well. We tried the Sea food soup(5/5), Hot Batter Cuttlefish(5/5 non-spicy), King Fish Devilled(5/5), Prawns Devilled(5/5) and Crab in Coconut based Gravy(4/5 - gravy was awesome), fruit juices(4/5 - minimal sugar used, wood apple was amazing), coconut water(4/5) and vattalappan(5/5 - very unique sri lankan dessert). In terms of ambience they have a mix of modern art + sri lankan tradition. It's a small restaurant but with brilliant food. Food took some time to prepare but was definitely worth the wait. Overall glad that I tried sri lankan for the first time here.

I guess Sri Lankans in Dubai were missing this, and finally, it is here. A place we could say, it is Sri Lankan and have a feast. I was so hurrying to eat so I missed taking photos. Very sorry about that. But next time I will make sure to control myself and take some snaps. Keep it up guys, well done after all.

Brilliant Stuff, I consider myself fortunate to have this Restaurant located, near by my place. I love foods here, it feels like at home. They also do home delivery even if it is bit far. Prices considerably a bit high than other Sri Lankan Restaurants in UAE. However, delicious food and quality service makes it worth for. Mr. Saman is always very friendly and supportive.. Thanks Guys!
