Review ‪shang Thai‬ - دُبي

(تمت الترجمة بواسطة Google.) الغذاء رائعة وأجزاء ممتازة والموظفين كبيرة. قد تكون مواقف السيارات شحيحة قليلاً في عطلة نهاية الأسبوع. (التعليق الأصلي) Fantastic food, excellent portions and great staff. Parking might be a bit scarce on the weekend.

(التعليق الأصلي) - The staff were friendly and informative. - The quality of food were very good. - Ample parking available around. - The prices were too high. Eg; Red Thai curry was around 55/-. And it does not come with white rice which you have to order separate. Comparatively expensive to other Thai restaurants.

(التعليق الأصلي) This was our THE restaurant to have Thai food. Their staff were very welcoming. Food was yummy. Now their service and food quality is below average. Our recent experience was really bad. They run the restaurant with limited staff and they have to service at least two to three tables at a time. Food quality wasnt as good as before rather no match. We will not visit them again unless they improve. We lost our best Thai restaurant.

(تمت الترجمة بواسطة Google.) الموظفون المُرحّبون ، الوقت المعقول في تقديم الطعام ، أفضل الأسماك على البخار في صلصة الليمون والفلفل الحار التي أمتلكها ، الكاري الأخضر التايلاندي هو الأفضل والخضار المقلية المقلية في صلصة الصويا كانت شهية (التعليق الأصلي) Welcoming staff, reasonable time in serving food, best steamed fish in lemon and chilli sauce I have ever had, Thai green curry is best and stir-fried mixed veggies in soy sauce were mouthwatering

(تمت الترجمة بواسطة Google.) مكان جيد للأغذية التايلاندية بسعر معقول. فريق عمل لطيف ودود للغاية (التعليق الأصلي) Good place for thai food for reasonable price. Nice location staff very friendly

(تمت الترجمة بواسطة Google.) هذا المكان فقد لمسة. لها إدارة سيئة والطعام ليس له علاقة بتايلاند. (التعليق الأصلي) This place lost its touch. Its poorly managed and the food has nothing to do with Thailand.

(تمت الترجمة بواسطة Google.) أحد أفضل المطاعم التايلاندية في دبي. الكاري الأخضر الموصى بها. (التعليق الأصلي) One of the best thai restaurants in Dubai. Green curry recommended.

Good ambience and service                                                                                                                   <br/>                                                                                            <br/> food is ok

nice food, but too slow service..<br/>it seems there is only one waiter in the restaurant...<br/>-'----'--- '----'----'---'----'----'----'-----'----'-----'<br/>😓😓😓

What's up?!? 🤔<br/><br/>One of those joints that is so weird!!! Walked in on a weekend night at 9pm for dinner. And I was surprised, not more than 2 tables in this huge restaurant were occupied. And it was so quiet and errie. I was wondering if I should leave, but we were already there with family. <br/><br/>I was quite impressed to see the menu though, I found the very first of vegetarian satays there which I ordered immediately as starter. Tofu, mushroom, broccoli and capsicum came in sticks with some weird sauce, tasting absolutely bland - no taste at all. They could have done so much better with this idea! We also ordered for spring rolls, Thai papaya salad, Gang Kiew Wan and Gang Daeng. But there was not a single dish I would want to rate as exceptional or even decent!<br/><br/>There is something very odd about the ambience as well, I am guessing it's the interior that gives it a very dull overall experience. The washrooms are extremely untidy for a place that seems this empty on a weekend. The staff are polite but not to be seen when needed and the starters and main course orders seemed to be mixed up as the main course came before the salad!<br/><br/>I hope this outlet makes some serious changes if they want to survive.

I rarely write reviews but this restaurant warranted a low rating due to many reasons, but I will give it this rating due to it serving me overcooked protein which is a strict no. We sent the dish back once came back as inedible as before. We were literally the only 4 people at the restaurant and feels very dated.<br/><br/>Only thing I can say is that the service was very good from all the front end staff.

A Peaceful place to dine was the first thing that came to my mind when I went here. We're the only guests from the time we went in til we finish. And its a good thing coz the staff had no one to attend to except us. Because for sure if it was a busy day their staff couldn't handle a big crowd considering its a big place with only two staffs on the floor. But regardless of that I was satisfied with everything that I ordered. I got my favorite pad thai of course and they never disappoints. It taste like the legit pad thai's that I had when I went to Thailand. Two thumbs up. 👍🏼👍🏼 The rest of the food that I ordered was also great but couldnt remember the names but you can see in the picture its really mouth watering. Definitely a must try place if you're looking for a good thai place to dine. Prices are very reasonable with the size of their serving. Love it! ❤
Wok-fried | Deep-pan
Surprised at its sheer size. Considering we were the first guests in at 8.45 (ok it was a weekday... but still...) we were a bit skeptical. Ordered Phad Kee Mao, Gang Panaeng & Gai Phad Bai Pra Krapaow. Food was great. Mince Meat chicken was supposedly the spiciest. That was the highlight with both green and red chillies. Red Curry base was true to the taste too. Overall a relaxed affair with friendly staff making you comfortable.

Place is quite spacious & the food too is very tasty. Ordered for Pad Thai Gai, Gai Ped Med Ma Muang, Gang Kiew Wan Kai & Gang Panaeng Gai with Jasmine Rice. Taste of the food was simply from heaven but the portion size for Pad Thai could definitely have been better.

We visited Shanghai Thai during a working day for lunch. It was deadly quiet surprisingly- naturally we were a little skeptical about the place. <br/><br/>Although the super kind staff made us feel comfortable right away! The food was good and service was quick as well. We tried the tangy buffalo wings, which was well cooked and portion was comparatively big for starters.  The meat was well marinated and cooked to perfection! We also tried the Kung Pao Gai and the Gang Kew Wan along with Kao Niew (sticky-rice). The price was reasonable for the portions served and the food quality! <br/><br/>However there is something off about the ambiance, I think it is the lighting or the seat colors. Making the whole dining experience a bit dull.<br/><br/>I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys quiet dining and Thai food. A big thumbs up for the staff - who were extremely polite and kind. :)

Although they have a big menu and a good ambience and service, that is about it. The food wasn't high quality and it is not worth a second visit.

Good food.. great service.. all you need is good food to enjoy ur night out.. it was surprising that the restaurant was empty considering the quality of the food.. it is a must try for all Thai food lovers..
Hazeem Mohamed Hanif
The food was good, the location was great. I simply loved the lighting and arrangement. I'd definitely take someone there for a dinner date. Loved the quiet and peaceful environment. Food was okay but I felt like I paid a bit too much for what I had - it was mediocre. They also could work on their service a bit in my opinion. When I asked to redeem a legitimate voucher, they had no idea about it apparently.
LTW
Food and service is good. The menu has a large selection and we tried a few dishes. I especially liked the beef in oyster and I asked them to add broccoli and mushrooms to the dish which they happily did. So service is very accommodation. Unfortunately the place is quite empty so it's difficult to have a good atmosphere.
RestoMonster
I have tried this place many times and I have always come to the same conclusion...<br/><br/>The place is located on szr with ample street parking. Easy to locate.<br/><br/>The service is not that professional, waiters have earrings and we and dont seem to know much about service. <br/><br/>We have sampled a lot of stuff on their menu for example pad thai, sweet corn soup, spring rolls, prawn tempura, raw papaya salad, fish cakes, sweet and sour fish, chicken cashew etc <br/>The food is average, nothing extra ordinary. Portions are tiny for the price. The taste is all sweet mostly, thai cuisine is mostly about the right balance in the sweet sour spicy and tangy .... I don't think they get it right unfortunately. <br/><br/>The food arrives at different timing... main course... first course all mixed up. They start clearing the table even if your not done, resulting in you grabbing the last bits of food so they can clear the dishes. They forget some of your order. <br/><br/>Their seating and decor looks good but is not very comfy. The seats and sofa need a pillow of some back rest, its very uncomfortable and results in you being sitting far from the table or having to sit on the tip of the chair...<br/><br/>Overall an average place.
Ali Hossain
Honestly, I love this place. Recommended by a friend of mine that goes often enough, that there's a "hidden menu" based on the way he likes his dishes cooked.<br/><br/>The food really is very good and in my opinion very good value for money. I often take visiting guests here for dinner.<br/><br/>The only reason I did not give a higher rating is that the service can be a little slow and it takes some time to get food out of the kitchen. I'm sure this is due to economics more than anything else, but it does impact the overall experience somewhat.
NaPintas
Their menu have so much to offer and they do have a wide selection of both Thai and Chinese cuisines. And among the foods we ordered, I like the chicken in green curry, t'was quite watery and few main ingredients there was but love the strong taste of herbs and spices yet tolerable. Also, I like their nasi goreng and we enjoyed them either the spicy and non-spicy. It also has quite big serving which is more than enough for one person. On one hand, I didn't appreciate the two beef dishes which I can't mention, for both dishes were salty and my guess, didn't cook well. But the phad thai noodle surpassed them all, simply love the way it has been cooked and prepared, its taste and presentation was great. In addition, love their complimentary cracker that appeased us whilst gave us the appetite during our arrival. And menu food prices are reasonable.<br/><br/>Service was quite slow but was good and satisfying, at least. Ambience is clean and spacious with elegant setting and seatings appropriate for families.<br/><br/>Overall, one of the restos to be on the list if craving of Southeast Asian taste. Thus, worth to try.

Experimenting new flavours makes me happy and Thai food does that perfectly.<br/><br/>All time favorite is Thai Papaya Salad and their Chicken meal served with boiled rice and well done egg on top<br/><br/>The soups and salads are best too. <br/><br/>It's a small outside in the middle of a commercial building. The siting arrangement is under few big umbrellas which makes lovely.<br/><br/>You can see a lot of Asian foreigners indulging.<br/><br/>The place is in the mist of the popular shopping area, so it's nice to for for a good lunch with succulent food.
Wafa Nizar A R
Calm place to have a good dinner date. Lovely interior and food had a burst of flavors. Yummy Thai cuisines. I like the way the hot water was served in a cute and traditional Asia style. A bowl of chip and dips were served which was so good. The over all experience was awesome.

We discovered this hidden gem about a year ago and this is our favourite Thai food haunt since. They have one of the most delicious and mouth watering Tom Yum soups. I went with the Pla Nung Ma Nao (steamed fish) for my main course. Again - a perfectly made dish which was flavorful and made to perfection. Guilt free as well! If you are a fan of the Thai cuisine - please pay this place a visit. Not too expensive either.

The food was very good .. except for one order it order burned and we canceled it .. however, the service was bad ... it was really poor although the restaurant was not crowded

It's always disappointing to see a firm favorite start to lose its way. Shang Thai was one of our favorite places to go for delicious Thai food over last few years and extensively introduced by us to friends and family. However in my visit for lunch today you could clearly see the magic is gone. The curries were overloaded with coconut milk and the kung pow chicken was strangely soft. The papaya salad had an excess of spice without flavor. It's not that the food quality was bad but it's just not hitting the notes it used to before. Whether it's because of a change of management or chef, if they don't bring the level back then it will drop off our radar for Thai food in Dubai.

This is one of the hidden gems of Dubai! The food is amazing, tasty and you can tell the chef has paid a lot of attention to what he is serving. It's a shame their Marina shop closed. Highly recommended.

There's nothing really that one can find fault with when it comes to Shang Thai and it's food. Consistently good when it comes to flavors and quantity. Tried the Nasi Goreng, beef with black bean sauce and the Hakka noodles. The beef could have been cooked a tad bit better but all the rest was really good. It's a good place to visit once in a while. Thumbs up!
Taymoor Arshad
One of my favorite places for Thai food! Favorite dishes are pad thai, thai red curry, beef pepper and chicken with cashew nuts. The entertainer also works here as well.
Sameer Ahmed
Not at all a place I would want to go again. Service is acceptable but food is not nice. Ordered 7 main courses and only could eat 1. Not a good experience.<br/>
MariamFatima
Great ambience yes, awesome place to have a quiet dinner with friends, fully agree- as we were the only ones in the whole restaurant yesterday. Wonder why? <br/>A calm place with soothing decor!<br/>The food is good. Enjoyed the Tom yum, roasted duck and red curry chicken.<br/>Not so expensive, would really recommend it to the Thai lovers!

We started going to this restaurant since 2013 , food is good , however since 2015 we stopped , because they hiked their food prices and it just felt over-priced..

Been working in the same building as this restaurant for years, yet it was our first time to check it out. Lunch and even by 6pm it is always almost empty. Today, just 4-6 people and a group of twelve. Service seemed to be slow and the food arrived only slightly warm, maybe because there was only one server and one or two cooks. Pad Thai was good but I tasted better ones. My companion commented it was full of vegetables. Chinese Fried Rice was great! It was savory without being cloying or overpowering. Tempura tasted good and the two dipping sauces with it were extraordinary. We loved the crackers with dips. I think their dips and sauces are great in taste. They have mocktails, too. Tasted refreshing. AED 160 for two people.<br/><br/>TL; DR: Almost empty all the time so it is ideal for dates or private meetings. Food overall is average to good as per their price range. Serving size is decent. Food service can be quicker but nothing to worry about as the people are helpful and courteous. Their sauces are great!
Nabil Qizilbash
Their cook makes the best green curry in Dubai. I'm aware of the boldness of my statement but it is the hard truth. I don't order anything else but their curries.
Hungry Again
Shang thai sounds more like a karate routine. Decent thai place. Found the taste quite authentic. They have to re work on their portions though. All in all an average experience.

So this place has received mixed reviews.<br/>Visited this place last night for dinner.<br/>Firstly the place was quite empty given the fact that it was Eid night, surprising.<br/>Service was very cold. Waiters seemed uninterested, aloof and unaware the whole time.<br/>Coming to the food, had ordered Tom yum soup, hot & sour soup, papaya salad, satay chicken, BBQ wings, spring rolls, Thai red and green curry and Jasmine rice and Pad Thai.<br/>Now the soups were average, the hot and sour soup tasted like a manchow soup that you get at any Chinese restaurant.<br/>Papaya salad was horrible...tasteless.<br/>Satay chicken was alright. BBQ wings weren't crispy but alright.<br/>Spring rolls were bad. The portion size were 4 spring rolls!! Like seriously you give me 4 tiny average Al Kabeer like tasting spring rolls??<br/>The only saving grace was their Green curry, which I liked and the red curry was just like the Green curry only a lot more sweeter.<br/>Pad Thai tasted average nothing great, was definitely missing on the spice and crunchiness.<br/>The service was so slow, I literally grew an appetite between the starters and main course. Also the portion sizes were less.<br/>I know we were a group of 20 people but we didn't really order that many dishes..besides there was only 1 occupied table besides us.<br/>Now the dessert "Tan Tim Grob" we had ordered was beyond horrible.<br/>It was something in a glass with chestnuts and milk mixed with water and sugar syrup, very bad.<br/>Had to call out so many times for crushed ice since that was a main ingredient of the dish. oh the irony.<br/><br/>Will I ever come back? No my friends if we have the likes of restaurants like lemon grass, little Bangkok, smiling Bkk that serve better and tastier thai food with very warm and welcoming staff, I don't think so!<br/><br/>
Sana
Some of the best Thai food in Dubai which makes me a regular at the restaurant. Live the Thai green curry and their Pad thai is done well too. The restaurant should be known for its generous quantity for a reasonable price and a taste of spiciness.
Prashant
We visited them for dinner. Very average food quality. We expressed our requirements to our server at the beginning since we are vegetarians. The soup we ordered had the flavor of chicken or whatever. We brought it to his attention and he agreed to replace. The fresh one was made from water, whatever that meant. I also understood that the chef cooks the vegetarian dishes in the same wok, and that was a big put off. We limited our dinner to starter and a soup and walked out perfectly dissatisfied with our choice. For strict vegetarians, please do clarify requirements before ordering. Hope others don't get as disappointed as us.
Nomfood
Absolutely love this place! It's a spot I tend to visit at least once a month and can't wrap my head around why it's always empty! Their food is Thai authentic and their potions of food are heavenly massive. Their ambiance is moderate with nothing exciting and their pricing is moderate as well not being too high or too low.

Visited Shang Thai for lunch yesterday afternoon.<br/>For a restaurant claiming to serve "Fine Thai Cuisine", they rated very average.<br/><br/>We ordered the Shang Thai Veg Selection for starters. They serve Veg Spring Rolls, Veg on toast, corn cake, veg dumplings, papaya green salad. We got the veg on toast replaced with the spring rolls due to it being unavailable. Taste wise, the veg springs rolls lacked taste, the corn cake was very oily to the point where I could taste the oil and the dumplings were good enough to forgo. The only saving grace of this selection was their papaya salad with the perfect measure of a sweet, sour, spicy and savory medley of tastes, with crunchy, crisp, chewy and tender textures.<br/><br/>For main course, we ordered the Red Curry (Veg) and the Thai Fried Rice (Veg). The portion of the curry and rice was good enough to serve 3 people. As for the taste, pretty average but definitely not worth the price.<br/><br/>Recommended drink would be the Lemon Grass Ginger Iced Tea.

Great food for the price.. The food is very economical and affordable! One will never feel the pinch when they eat at Shan thai.. The quality of food is also above average.. I visit Shang Thai once a month for sure
Huzaifa
Truly horrible service....the food used to be good but now both truly miserable. No staff. Indifferent service . Unlike their Oman branch . Please avoid this...
Keeping Up With Sanjana
Thai cuisine is one cuisine I rarely opt for as I am not sure if most restaurants do it the right way.<br/><br/>However Shang Thai nailed it for me! A nice, well decorated and spacious restaurant located right on the main Shaikh Zayed Road towards Abu Dhabi. It is not one of those 5 star places; however it surely will give you a semi fine-dining feel without burning your pocket.<br/><br/>If you planning a visit here, be sure to keep your GPS on as might lose your way with the ongoing construction works. Once we arrived at the place, we were greeted by a very soothing and welcoming décor in beige and black with a nice wooden touch.<br/><br/>Upon being seated, we decided to first go for the drinks so we ordered the Lemon Grass Iced tea and the Lychee Mint tea. Both drinks were full of flavours and refreshing too. My friends ordered the Tom Yum Gung, a nice filling soup. For the starters we went for the Poh Pia Phak (spring rolls) and Som Tam Je (papaya salad) and also veg dimsums. The dishes were good in quantity and taste was equally good.<br/><br/>The main course we had Gang Kiew Wan Phak (veg thai green curry) and Khao New Ma Muang (sticky rice).<br/><br/>We did not have any space for desserts so saved it for next time but we left the place full with thai flavours and a smile on our faces.<br/><br/>Definitely worth a visit if you are craving for some amazing Thai food and don’t want to hit hard on the credit card.
The Rolling Crab
Sawa Dee! Thai cuisine is a very peculiar and delicate cuisine (& one of my favourites). If not cooked well to the exact pinch of ingredient with the accurate care, then the whole Thai feel simply vanishes. Shang Thai, nevertheless, truly does a fab job to revive the Thai flavour. I won't say they hit the jackpot 100%, but, they surely are pretty close to it. We ordered their Poh Pia Phak, Tom Yum Goong, Som Tam Je, Gang Kiew Wan Phak, Kao Kra Praow Phak, (dont ask me their translations;)) Lemon Grass Ginger Iced and Lychee Mint Tea. Very glad to be here for sure. Good ambiance. Economical. If you never get a chance to visit Thailand... then surely drop by here for a good Thai Time!! Kob Khun Krap!!

We went here last weekend just for some fried rice for my son who was asleep when we are earlier. We explained that we only wanted one dish and some drinks but the staff were nonetheless very friendly and accommodating. Pretty much everything we have had here has been good and it seems a shame that it is rarely busy, it suffers from the location and even more so with the current canal construction disruption I think. I have eaten in many worse Thai restaurants in Dubai guys you should go!!

Me and my better half went there for a Thai experience. We unfortunately had a real roller coaster night :( but there were saving graces too. We ordered Shang Thai Selection, Bamboo Fish and Nasi Goreng.  Prawn crackers were complimentary. <br/><br/>Prawn Crackers were ok, they could have been much better if they were fresh. Unfortunately they were cold and a bit stale. The tamarind and sweet chilli sauces went well with them. <br/><br/>Shang Thai selection consists of Papaya Salad, Prawns on Toast, Chicken Satay, Fish Cakes, Veg Spring Rolls. Prawns on Toast were very oily, a bit too oily.  Spring Rolls were below average. Chicken Satay had raw chicken :( , so we had to send them back. The staff was courteous and after seeing the mistake replaced the chicken satay without any hassle. But a very big NO for any place when the chicken comes raw :(<br/><br/>On the other hand, we did like the Papaya Salad (If you are sensitive to spices, this one packs a punch. So beware :) ) and the fish cakes were good too. But overall we didn't like the Shang Thai selection due to the downers we had :(<br/><br/>For the main course Bamboo fish had a cool presentation, a very different and interesting taste. While the fish was just melting in the mouth. So a definitive winner. We loved Nasi Goreng too, because it made us realize how good fresh prawn crackers and well cooked satay could be. And the rice was pretty tasty too. We realized we had ordered a bit too much for 2 people, so we fought against our intelligence and continued eating the rice :) But at this time we were really angry on ourselves for having tried the starter selection and not having the appetite for the most tastiest dish of the night :(<br/><br/>Summarizing there were definitive winners in the main course and papaya salad. There were definitive failures too. But the winners were good enough to make us come here again. Hoping for a much better experience the next time around.

Have been here so many times before because we really liked the food. Once we had a bad experience so we did not go for a very long time. But on thursday we said lets go back and check it out. But the food quality has gone worst. We Ordered veg Spring rolls & Dim Sums for starters. to your disappointment we did not like any. For the main course we ordered Thai Green Curry and thai basil fried rice. Green curry was alright but the thai basil fried rice, we were disappointed. We wont be going there again.
Cawie Cee
The most authentic thai I ever tasted here in Dubai! Servings are good for 3 (maybe depends on who's eating? 😂) We ordered Padthai and Nasi Goreng w/ Chicken Satay. Way better than the Chinese restos in the mall.
Gingerdarling
Update 10months later...<br/>Finaaallly managed to get pics before snorting the food up.. food is still good and orders still take forever though!!<br/><br/>---------------------------------------------<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>I really like this place, we go there often but we're greedy so we usually only remember we missed the photo session after we cleaned up the dishes.. <br/><br/><br/>I really love the coconut curry the only issue I really have is that their so called level of spicy is no where near what the actually "thai spicy" is in reality.. When they ask how spicy and we say very spicy, I don't know how that translates in the kitchen because automatically the curries are loaded with extra red and green chilies.. Do these chefs not know of how to incorporate it in the spices? Like have they never heard of paste? Powder? Does it always have to be chilies?? <br/><br/>Ah never mind.. It's the same every where "you want it spicy madam?" <br/> "yes = dish comes with half a kilo chilies " *smh*
Irfan Jhabuawala
Visited this place for dinner expecting good "authenticish" Thai food but we were disappointed. Ordered chicken satay & prawn tempura which were tasteless & fish cakes and dimsums which were okay. For mains, we order Phad Thai which was terrible & tasteless, and chicken green curry & duck curry which was the only saving grace. Besides the food, the interiors of the restaurant weren't as appealing also, and it really was humid & uncomfortable inside, in spite of being a pleasant April evening. I definitely will not go back here again.
Enjo Mathew
My measure of standard for a Thai restaurant is how well they do their Green curry. The chicken green curry here was very well done. The lemongrass and lime leaf flavor stood out well and the chicken was perfectly cooked. We also had Veg dumpling, Chicken dumpling, Stir fry chicken schezuan and veg Hakka noodles. The only thing unexciting was the Veg dumpling. Rest all fared well. Bit pricey when compared to other similar Thai joints, but food did not disappoint, so I'm good.

This is my family's favorite Thai in Dubai. The place looks nondescript and simple but their food always leaves us happy. Our staple order is their papaya salad, seafood pad thai, red curry prawn/tofu, sticky rice sides and the sweet and sour fish. The gravy on their red curry is delicious so we ask for extra curry. We often order extra just so we'll have leftovers to take away for lunch the next day.<br/><br/>The staff are also very friendly and helpful, even the ones who don't know we're regulars, and the food comes quite promptly.<br/><br/>Their prawn crackers come with some yum sauces too 😍

Located in the service road of Sheik Zayed Road. It is an average level restaurant, can do interiors. Its ok for a decent meal. I had the tom yum soup and pad thai. Its ok.

been going there for ages... good thai food at economical price... I particularly like their business lunch deal on weekdays.... however generally their appetizers and soups r pretty good....
Harshabhagnani
Went there on a Thursday night at about 10.30pm, surprisingly only 3 tables occupied. Coming to the food we were 5 of us and all vegetarians we ordered Green Thai curry which had a decent portion and was well cooked with the exact flavours required. But that's not the end ...there was a small insect in the curry which after informed was changed but a drawback for sure. We ordered for pad Thai which was very good,a must try. The third dish was crispy vegetables in black pepper sauce, good taste but a dish tried before plenty of times so not missing on anything if not ordered..we also ordered for a ginger lemongrass tea ..perfectly well blended ..a must try !! <br/>All in all definitely recommended restaurant for Thai lovers !!

Came here by chance though I see the restaurant every day on my way home. Finally decided to give it a try and glad I did. The food is quite delicious. All the dishes ordered were up to mark. Definitely paying a visit again.

Shang Thai near the second interchange on Sheikh Zayed Road is a little difficult to access from the highway, but easy to access from Jumeirah side. But once you reach the venue, it's a divine experience. You are greeted by this pale green decor, a spacious dining hall and unlimited free prawn crackers with dips. Then you can delve into a wide variety in the menu, but don't miss out on the papaya salad, dim sums, fish cakes, roast duck and a mind blowing bamboo fish. Cost for a couple - approx AED 200.Sonali Mukhopadhyay

I have ordered for lunch this Friday and felt the food was terrible , every dish was different taste not like when we go to eat there or order .. plus it took more than 1.30 hour to deliver , when i order it was around 12.20 PM and reach at 2.05 ... when i called to check they guy told me we cancelled your order cause we don't deliver to your area and hanged on Me , then i spoke to someone else and he told me its on the way .. i don't know what really happened to this restaurant , plus the prices are different , going up and food taste is not the same ... hope they can fix this soon.

Shang Thai has been in our collection of Thai places we frequent for some time now, but it has been a few months since the last visit. I remembered the crispy fish being delicious and it was once again. The fish has a nice crisp and a tasteful spicy sauce. The Schezwan Chicken had a nice heat to it and was tasty, but nothing extra special. Free prawn crackers but unfortunately rice is not included with any of the meals. Service was fine and helped us as necessary but nothing else.

Shang Thai offers good Thai food, with a mix of some<br/>Chinese-styled dishes. Their staff are always friendly, parking available more<br/>often than not in the service lane in which the restaurant is located. I’ve<br/>never found the restaurant to be busy. Access: If you are driving on SZR south<br/>bound, you’d want to take the exit on the interchange immediately BEFORE the<br/>restaurant (even before it is in sight), and a U turn so as to enter the<br/>service lane where the restaurant is located, else you’ll find yourself on a<br/>frustratingly long detour around some Safa villa blocks to get into a lane<br/>which allows you to enter the service lane to Shang Thai. The pricing is steep<br/>for its product. I don’t doubt the restaurant needs to keep up with its<br/>overheads, in an ever-so-competitive F&B market, but they could certainly improve<br/>their interiors to make the experience worth the money. The restaurant feels<br/>like a large hall, with tables and chairs strewn around. If I may offer my two<br/>pennies’ worth, I’d urge Shang Thai to consult with Interior Design, to<br/>partition the restaurant with classy wooden and glass panels, take interior<br/>lighting a few notches dimmer, dark wood polish and dark themed ceiling for a<br/>more cozy effect, less street view for privacy (frosted glass or Thai themed<br/>stained-glass), perhaps use more plants and Thai art, Thai vases, lanterns,<br/>ethnic umbrellas and décor. Reduce space between tables, they need not be so<br/>wide apart (thereby compensating for costs in increased seating capacity). Shang<br/>Thai has large carpet area and a great location, close to the proposed canal,<br/>you could do so much more.

Was here for a late lunch today. Its a pretty big space but also looked empty. Interior wasnt too shabby, anyway ordered the Pad Thai noodles with Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, Chicken with Cashew nuts, Jasmine rice and Tempura Ice-cream for dessert. Kung Pao was really good and crispy, my favourite by miles. The other dishes were average. Pad Thai noodles with chicken was forgettable. Tempura Ice-cream however was super delicious. Definitely ended the lunch on a good note. One annoying thing was that their cutlery was too heavy. But otherwise, an average place for thai food.

Had been planning to visit this place for some time now and finally got a chance recently. The place is located pretty deep inside Sh Zayed Road. Ambience is pretty ok, the staff however were not as hospitable as we anticipated. The food was good, but not great considering the price and quantity.

My introduction to Thai food was way back in the 1980s when the Taj Man Singh, Delhi had a Thai food festival and I fell in love with the cuisine.<br/>Shang Thai brings about a menu that has captured the essence and flavours of Thailand in those few pages.<br/>My favourite is their Steamed Fish. The gastric juices start overflowing at the sight of this dish.<br/>Not to take away the charm of the other dishes, the starters are great - Chicken satay and the Corn cake are great.<br/>Their Pad Thai is one of the best in town.<br/>Service is Good but can be better though.<br/>Nevertheless, the food will always draw me to this place.

Thai is my favorite cuisine. And Shang Thai does not disappoint. The prawns on toast and the tom yum soup were great. The servings were of good quantity too. Would love to come back for some more.

I had a pleasant and unforgettable experience at Shang Thai. Went for dinner with couple of friends, and we ordered Vegetable Satay, and Phad Thai Goong Sod for mains. The dishes were delish and the restaurant brings pure Thai cuisine to the table. <br/><br/>However, the service slacked a tad bit, but the meals compensated for it. <br/><br/>Just to be on the safer side, if you're not a spicy eater, do mention 'less spice' to your server, in order to have your meal presented to you the way you like. <br/><br/>Entertainer vouchers were used.

Staff (2.5/5): the wait staff arent friendly at all. We called at 10:30 in the night to make a dinner reservation (not that they need any) but we were unsure of the crowd since it was a Thursday night. The receptionist was friendly and warned us that they take the last order at 11pm and the restaurant closes at 12pm. We said not a problem we will reach in about 15-20 mins however when we got there at 10:50 instead of welcoming us in, the waitress said the kitchen was closed. I told her why did they say that they take the last order at 11:00 then. If we knew better we wouldnt have made the trip from marina to al safa. She said she will check with the manager but finally we had our table. Then we ordered our drinks in the beginning which i forgot about and at the end of the meal i realised they still hadnt served it. <br/><br/>Ambience (4.5/5): well furnished and the space is well kept. Love the simple decor and colour themes. <br/><br/>Food ordered: thai red prawns curry and kao phad bai kra-praow<br/>Review (4/5): the thai red prawns curry was very very delicious, probably one of the best i've had. It has a thick gravy which is just perfect for my taste. Plus it had the right amount of spices so thats a plus. The kao phad bai kra-praow which is a rice based dish and was also beautifully made. The waitress also suggested that if we like spicy food then we can have the dishes together and theres no need to order plain rice separately to go with the curry. But i wish i hadnt listened to her cause i coulndt taste the curry at all. The flavors were all mixed up and i couldnt differentiate the taste between either of the dishes.<br/><br/>Value for money (4/5): the prices are quite reasonable considering the location and food quality but definitely not in terms of the service.<br/><br/>Recommendation: a definite try out! Just don't go later than 10:30pm although they say they accept their last order at 11:00pm. The curries go better with plain jasmine rice!<br/>Entertainer vouchers available.

We've been twice to this restaurant. The food is yummy! We ordered red Thai curry, tom yum soup, som tam, and the veg platter (the sesame seed toast is amazing rest of the stuff in the platter was ok).
Nusreen Moideen
We had the prawns tempura , prawn pad thai , chicken with basil and pepper corn which went really well with steamed sticky jasmine rice. The food was great , the prawns were crispy and went well with the chilly and sweet sauce. The pad thai had bags of flavour and a spoon of the chilly sauce added the chilly kick which was necessary. The chicken broth had so many things going on with the sweetness, sourness and spiceness all in perfect harmony on your palette. Lovely meal.

Have tried the shangthai in oman and hated the padthai, bt the entertainer encouraged us to give a shot againn<br/>We went on a saturday night bt the place was absolutelyyyy empty, no customers! 👀<br/>Anyhow, loved the quietness haha<br/>Its really well decorated and interior is fresh lime color, setting the mood fr thainess<br/><br/>Ordered tomyum gai, Schezuan chicken (yes its nt thai, bt i cnt resist it), basil fried rice<br/>Asked for making it spicy<br/><br/>Tomyum was veryyyy ok, i make better to be honest haha<br/><br/>Wow, food was a chilli bomb, way too spicy, although i love it, husband couldnt really take it! Had to drink water after each bite haha bt it was too good to leave<br/>Prices are fine too and taste as well, although there are better places out there but with entertainer its a perfect value for money as they count rice as main menu item as well<br/>Best thing that i loved was seeing female cooks in the kitchen! Felt good :) <br/>More to women empowerment 💪

Been here many times previously and loved the food but shocked by the lack of service today! Walked in and no staff to meet or seat us. Guy at the counter was quite rude - gestured to us while he continued on the phone. We sat down anyway and waited a full 10 min. Not one person came to our table. No eye contact. No apologies. Pathetic. You've just lost our custom. Bala B

Ok so I've been here over 15 times in the past few years. Over that time period, charting my experience of the food on a graph would look like the curve of a pebble thrown high in the air ☺ what I mean is, it started as a 3.5 in my mind, gradually rose to a 4.5 and has now rapidly descended into 2 category. What's the issue? Let's start with service. Nice and slow. Slow enough to make the zombies in the Walking Dead look like Bolt. Next the salad. They call it, mango salad. It appeared more like the kind of cut up vegetables my mom liked to serve me as a kid : Raw. <br/>Next up the mains. How shall I describe these wonderous piles of slop. While on the face of it, the look was half decent, the taste can be defined only as eating attractive looking socks. No taste. What I thought was miraculous was that no amount of salt would force any taste out of these scientific Miracles. <br/><br/>There was a time once when Shang Thai represented what was lost in Dubai. Good taste and ambience without going bankrupt. Now only the last part of that sentence applies.

Was not cowded on Friday evening. Brought a guest who wanted to try thai food. Must say that the food is great and portion is huge. We were served a generous portion of complimentary prawn crackers. We ordered cashew nut chicken, red chicken curry and mixed vegetables. The service is good. All in all a good experience and would definitely go back. Our guest was happy too.

Very poor service! We came in around 12 noon, no other customers besides us. We are 2 mothers with a 1 year old and an infant. We were not assisted with our strollers since they got no ramp to get in. We were never greeted! We were never assisted! The Thai hostess did not even recognized that there were customers inside their restaurant note smiled! We were also not given the prawn crackers while we were waiting for our order! The Indian waiter doesn't know if their toilet has a changing table! The food were good but they should change their servers/hostess! They give such bad impression to the lovely offerings of this restaurant!

I tried my first Thai food from here.<br/>Vibe is amazing with open kitchen, also friendly staff<br/><br/>We tried Green Thai Chicken curry & Yoke fried prawns.
Tiana
Some fabulous and interesting dishes on the menu, but not very extensive. Home delivery is reasonably quick and the food is of high quality. If you want a taste of Thailand, then here is the place to go! Good value, but the menu needs a change.
Venika
Food is to good. Extremely helpful with dietary requirements. The crispy corn is amazing a huge variety for vegetarians. Service is also very good. Desserts to have are Fried ice cream and the coconut pudding. You should go to Shang Thai
Fatbloke
Was watching the movie "Chef" when the Shang Thai arrived, so of course I am going to write a review.<br/><br/>We have been a regular delivery customer of Shang Thai and this review is well over due. <br/><br/>So, first of all its easy to make an order and delivery is always in less time than stated.<br/><br/>Mrs fatbloke is not usually that keen on Thai food but loves the Hakka noodles, and has recently started ordering the veg selection which she also tells me are "delish".<br/><br/>I tend to opt for the thai green curry with chicken and accompany it with one of the rices which are all good.<br/><br/>The only criticism so far, other than the price hike, is the inconsistency in quality, in particular when it clmes to the green curry........it varies so much, sometimes lots of chicken, sometimes very littles chicken, sometimes nice thick sauce and sometimes it is almost watery......I could go on, but I think you get the idea. <br/><br/>But overall Shang Thai "deliver's"......<br/>

This is a good Restaurant in Dubai. They have Thai and Asian cuisine. The decor of restaurant is pretty. It is s big restaurant with good seating capacity and Good parking place is available. The food is very nice and tasty. The Vegetable soup with dumplings was good . The Green Thai curry with rice was also yummy. Overall the food was fresh. The service was also good . Green papaya salad was ok while Pad Thai noodles was tasty.

Quite far from my home, but the game is worth the candle!!!! Shang Thai is a real thaï food restaurant with thaï chefs! We were 6 people and we shared as many starters and main dishes, so I can say that I tried almost all their menu. Their dishes are plenty of flavors and savors. I was in Thailand a few days before and it is like I had never been left!!! <br/>Good ratio price-quality. <br/>We went on Friday to have a lunch and we were alone. <br/><br/>

This is a nice thai place. It's really big. Which makes it stand out from the other thai places in dubai. <br/>The service was great. The food was good too. We had the corn cakes, pad thai and green curry. The presentation was done very well.<br/>I didn't like the corn cakes too much but I am not a big fan of those anyway.

A well decored restaurant, pleasant staff with a smile is all ready to welcome you in.<br/>I have been here several times and love the food. Prime location and easily available parking makes it more comfortable.<br/><br/>Usually once we are seated they serve with 3 sauces and prawn crackers - the crackers are so crispy and flavoured, i choose to dip in the spicy sauce to my taste.<br/><br/>For starters ordered the chicken satay and prawn dumplings - served with sauces for each. Nothing to complain about and is good as elsewhere.<br/><br/>Main course:<br/>Seafood rice - this is my favourite - the aroma that comes out is so irresistable. Filled with flavour and each bite tempts for the next. I can have it just plain with no sauces add!!<br/><br/>Pad thai - served with crushed peanuts along side is what makes this dish good. Well presented and tasty. I usually choose chicken for this dish.<br/><br/>Nasi goreng - i love spice and when ever i feel to satisfy my taste buds this dish would be my choice too. Spicy mix of rice along with fried egg on top with chicken satay is a filling one. Dont miss out on this..<br/><br/>Desserts - Top choice is always sticky rice with mangoes that i order at any thai restaurant i go. I love the creamy coconut sauce on the sticky rice with mangoes to side with. A simple sweet dish which is impressive.<br/><br/>Overall verdict - i always enjoy here, no complains on the food nor service. So will be back for more !!!

Was very average taste of Thai compared to other same priced restaurant, the service was too slow which obviously was due to short staff. The management really needs to think on improving the service standards, serving staff were so over worked they had no smile on their face while attending to customers. The dishes were not lifted after we finished every course of the meal. The kitchen was slow i am sure they were less hands there too..With all this i think its is very over priced. The place was spacious no doubt that's why rating goes to 1.5! :) <br/><br/>You are served complimentary prawn crackers and sauce dips!!! really you lucky people..lol

Went to Shang Thai recently and the food is okay . Tried the chicken satay which was good and going for Thai food had to try the red curry and green curry ! The green curry was a disappointment but the red curry was good but nothing different! Had the pad thai which i didn't like as it was just too sweet But the best was the ghai phad schezwan which was spicy and tasty. Overall it was okay and the service was quick!

Great food, good portion and amazing staff. Not your original Thai place but pretty decent for a nice or heavy dinner if you so choose. <br/>Fish in banana leafs, flied lice is also nice (!no offense to Chinese or Thai ppl, or any Asian person or Asian beoble)😂😂😂 <br/><br/>My brain might think racist thoughts, my mouth might say racist words...but my tongue is a humanitarian😆 <br/>along with another part of me. JK ppl just kidding <br/><br/><br/>How is that for an ending, instead of those dumbs with their "it was a warm December night, me and my significant other (most probably mentally challenged) were in the mood to shove our ugly faces with food, we pass this peaceful little place, hidden in a corner like a kitten deep in its mother's chest. hiding from the busy lights of a city which is as forgetful, as it is unforgiving......." So I was at Shang Thai with a few friends last night and we absolutely loved this place! We were served complimentary prawn crackers at the start while we waited for our food. The chicken thai green curry was really good with the steamed rice and the vegetable satay was good too.  The portions were quite big and a complete value for money. The ambiance was great and the staff was friendly. The food was really spicy and when complained, our server immediately made us a new non-spicy dish and made up for it.<br/><br/>The only drawback was that the service was slow in-spite of the restaurant being empty.<br/><br/>Will definitely visit again and recommend to Thai food lovers.<br/><br/>Entertainer vouchers accepted.

Shang Thai is a great choice if you are craving for Thai or Chinese cuisine.Food was very good (Green Curry is excellent) Mr. Dilip and Chris were great hosts. Before leaving, I met with the Head Chef (She is from Thailand and they call her mama) and thanked her and the Sous-Chef for great culinary experience.

I had gone there with my family . The staff were very friendly and took good care of us. But the main highlight was the delicious food. I really liked their Tom Yum soup and Pad Thai Goong Sod noodles. I would recommend the Kung Pao chicken for the noodles. Even their Shang Thai Selection platter was mouth watering. The portions of the dishes are quite generous. The ambience is very simple. The only thing I didn't enjoy was their Mojito drink. In my view, The place is a bit pricey. But its worth it. Definitely will recommend it to lot of people. And thanks to Zomato cashless, I was able to save Aed 50/- on the total bill.

This place serves really good Chinese! I had a take away, and the tofu in red sauce was nice and crispy, the green curry was amazing and the coconut water was very refreshing! Must visit!
Eating Out Dubai
Since a very long wait we ended up going here and wasn't disappointed. <br/>The restaurant is spacious with a simple decor. The staff is a little slow and our food did take time but wouldn't complain as I really enjoyed the food.<br/>I had mixed reviews from my friends and Zomato but We enjoyed our meal with some really good authentic Thai flavors. <br/>To start you are served complimentary prawn crackers and sauce dips. <br/>Our Seafood Tom Yum soup was good but could be better with some more spice, ginger and lemon grass. It lacks that kick you look for in every sip of your hot soup. <br/><br/>We ordered the Gai Phad Bai Kra Praow (Thai Basil chicken) which was really good definitely took me back to the streets of Bangkok. <br/><br/>Tried both the chicken and prawn green curry which had the right flavors. <br/>The Papaya and mango salad was okay. <br/><br/>Would definitely go back to have some good Thai food which is one of my favorite cuisines. <br/><br/>Entertainer coupons are accepted.

Being big fan of Thai food myself and my friends dine here for dinner,  we ordered our Thai favorites and everything was just good enough, nothing impressive and lacked authentic flavor to my taste.Papaya salad not fresh at all, green curry is salty, Pla nueng manao( fish with lemon dressing w/garlic chilli) so sweet.we ordered few appetizers and some wok fried. After our meal all agreed that this is a solid 2 star.

Decent atmosphere, comfortable setting. Plenty of options for vegetarians which is rare for a Thai Restaurant. Overall a very satisfactory place good for a casual dinner with friends.

Great Thai food cuisines. <br/>Delicious food. <br/>Nice place for family. <br/>A lot of variety. <br/>Easy parking space. <br/>Professional staff. <br/> Thanks.

The place to go to for tasty Thai food at a justifiable price! This place leans towards an Indo - Thai concept and may be a disappointment for those looking for authentic Thai food! Having said that, this place works for my pallet as well as my wallet....the icing on the cake being the excellent attitude of the staff!
Kunal Adnani
Top quality Thai food in a fairly casual setting. The seafood (lobster and fish) is delicious! Great vegetarian and meat options as well. Definitely worth a visit!

Went late on a friday evening , a large party of more than a dozen angry, hungry men. The restaurant is airy and spacious , the decor is not too dim nor is it too bright, fair to say its just right. Seating is ample . There is no shortage of parking spaces outside and being situated on the SZR after Safa, the location is just right. Good food, large portions and resonable rates , not many negatives to list apart from slow service. Zakir

Had dinner yesterday. The food was really good. Tasted amazing. However service was beyond appalling. Food took ages to arrive. Waiter kept ignoring us when we were trying to get his attention to ask for the additional portion of rice we ordered.<br/>They never brought the bill to our table. We had to go to the reception after waiting for over 30 minutes to get the bill. Afterwards no one came to the table to collect the cash to pay the bill. Again we went near the reception and stood there for a good 10 minutes until finally someone came to collect the cash. When I asked why the appalling service, all I got was a confused glare and a very emotionless sorry from the waitress who was collecting the cash from us. Will never recommend anyone to visit this restaurant unless it's purely about the food.

Went with my office colleagues; we ordered soup and went straight for the main course. <br/>The family soup bowl was just right for the 6 of us, but the Tom Yam soup we ordered though tangy the spicy quality was completely missing. <br/>The beef in oyster sauce was terrific and my order of Pad Thai noodles was good too. One of my colleagues who ordered the Nasi Goreng was extremely disappointed. But if you are going to judge a restaurant by the dessert this place should get full marks for the Sticky Rice with sweet mangoes & tapioca in coconut milk.<br/>All in all Shang Thai is worth a visit. <br/>
Pritika
The food in here is really good. <br/>They started off by getting us some complementry prawn crackers, served w peanut sauce and thai chili sauce. No complaints and a good way to keep customers busy as the main order is being made. <br/>We went for Nasi goreng, and to play it safe... A Thai Red Curry and a Thai Green Curry, both chicken. <br/>The Nasi goreng looked delicious, with the rice just cooked to perfection until it was goldenish brown, topped with two prawn crackers, two chicken satays, and a fried egg. It was rich and flavourful with nothing over powering the dish. The satay was soft and juicy and served as our starters. <br/><br/>The curries were creamy and spicy and just the right consistency, not too thick nor too runny with plenty chicken pieces in the curry as well. Absolutely delicious ?<br/><br/>I was extremely disappointed w the service though. It was slow and I had to ask them to bring the bill/pack the food four times. It's too huge a restaurant, and they're quite short on staff.
Hitesh Thawani
Even though the food was good ... what was bad was the service.<br/>On a Friday evening, there were a total of 3 people in restaurant who were taking orders, serving, setting tables for new guests, and sorting the bill.<br/><br/>The restaurant was full, and impossible that people had a good time.<br/><br/>For the food, i really enjoyed the thai red curry, and the vegetarian satay.
Vivek Shrivastava
Good ambiance and nice food. This was my first Thai food n I enjoyed a lot.
Denzil De Sousa
Have always loved the food here. While it is a tad pricey we are still loyal patrons, my husband and I. Whenever we want to treat ourselves, this is the place. Somehow everything we order is delicious. And the tempura fried ice-cream... Amazing!
Esther Mary Roy
Food is really good! Definitely one of those places to try out if you like Thai food. :D Service was a little slow maybe because it was at a peak hour but bearable.
Danny Crasto
Its not in the greatest of spots but great food places hardly are. The service is fast. Well as fast as I will make it to order can be and I don't mind waiting. To be clear its not a long wait. Their soup bowls are delicious and its a challenge to finish it. Their shrimp on toast is amazeballs. Coconut icecream to cool the burn is the way to do it. Go there hungry, you will not be disappoint.
Janhvi Samant
My love for thai food took me to this place.. Which I always saw from the metro between noor bank and business bay station.. The food is just about average. Nothing to boast about or return to the place. Being a feminist the all girl gang was a good point. However the food did not catch my attention. Also getting out of that place is impossible as getting a taxi near the safa outlet which we visited is impossible.
Fahd Kidwai
We came here because we like Thai food and we had an Entertainer voucher for a complimentary main course. We left here disappointed with the extremely average food. The service was ok and the food seemed fresh, however it lacked the edgy taste which is the hallmark of Thai / Asian cuisine. The starters (spring rolls) were hot and fresh but lacked any uniqueness and had little filling inside. Both the Red curry and Szechuan chicken were amateurish and it was obvious that the cook was not a proper Thai chef. I expect this level of quality from a restaurant which charges half the price for these items... definitely not value for money.<br/><br/>The ambiance was ok and the restaurant is spacious, but the food itself needs a big turnaround to bring us back here.
