I believe Food quality is more important than ambience which Amma’s full fills from every corner. Also prices were reasonable. I am Gujju but i like all the South Indian dishes prepared by Amma’s and definitely for this reason, we would love to visit this place again and again.

Extremely polite staff and very very courteous. We had gone to have a take away checken biriyani. It's a new place that they have opened for dinner in people. Decent ambience with nice seating and lighting.
Coming to the food. It's very tasty. The chicken biriyani was tasty and good quantity. Quite spicy but tasty. It was served with raita and gravy. Beware of the gravy. It's very spicy.
I would like to try other dishes of amma's specially the thalis.
The food was really tasty. We loved all that we ordered. Service was prompt. I guess everyone there was getting food served pretty quick!
The ambience is average and the seating area is neat enough.
But when I visited the wash and the toilet both were not clean at all.
I really wish that part is looked upon so that this becomes a perfect little spot for a happy meal.

Would recommend everyone to try their "chicken biriyani" which is a killer! We order lunch from there once in a while and have always loved the food. A must try if anyone wants to have proper home made kinda biriyani!
This is a nice joint for a quick fix of South Indian food and it does not hurt the pocket too much. I usually try whatever is on the daily specials list and have enjoyed all the items so far. List below:
Breakfast -
Try the 1 Dh chai with Medu Vadas, dosa or the puri bhaji. One good thing is the restaurant opens quite early, so it’s my usual stop before heading to work.
Lunch -
Fish Biryani with quite a large slice of Kingfish, not like those other joints which give more rice and less fish. They also have daily lunch Thalis, which is nice too.
Snacks -
Chicken Samosa with the 1Dh chai.
Dinner -
Chicken special curry was excellent and went well with the Chicken ‘555’ and ‘65’ on two different days. (Left over curry went well with the ‘65 the next day). Breads are nice.
The seating area is limited and the restaurant is usually crowded, so I would recommend takeout or delivery.
A good value for money restaurants. It does a good business as its favourite amongst bachelors. Their Egg Biryani is great. Good for breakfast as well as serves great Idli n Dosa.

Amma’s I know this restaurant for almost close to 4 years now. I didn’t see any problems with taste at all, they are very consistent with what they do... as a South Indian this is the best Tamil style biryani. Overall I love their food. Only disappointment is they are very busy... you don’t get seats to dine in comfortably. Good service as well!
It was my first time that I tried Chettinad cuisine and I must say it is very tasty I want to try it again and again. I tried Chettinad Kadai masala and Crab masala and fry idiyappam and I must say it was very tasty. I will definitely come over here again and again

Just Coz of the restro name Went there yuto try. It's a Tamil South indian restro. I had non veg chicken thali. It has some veg curries n chicken curry. All r gud. Surprised to see low ratings it has good for it's cost. This restro for bachelors not for families.
Too good for a smaller joint. They have 4 outlets I dubai. In love with their filter coffee and smaller vadas. Vadas finish very quickly and they make in smaller numbers.
Once at Karama, I forgot to carry my wallet and ordered 2 teas (2 aed) and later realized that I did not have the money. The cashier was generous enough to say don't bother about it.
I did get back to the car and return the money. May be because it was a smaller amount but he did save me from an embarrassment and made me comfortable.
The place is value for money. Good food at reasonable price. We tried their mini break fast it was good.

Went for lunch... A veg meal and it was ok..... Not bad for a bachelor lunch. Has curry, rasam, and 2 type of sabji.... Would have loved if chapathi was part of it. Else it was good enough for a one time meal visit...
My favourite here is Idly, they are so soft like cotton and love their white chutney and sambaar that comes with Idly. Their regular vadas are also nice and special vada is ok, you can give it a miss. Their veg thali is also quite nice. But I wouldn't recommend the masala dosas though, it's really not worth trying. Their delivery timing is quick and they home deliver filter coffee in a flask to keep it hot which is quite thoughtful.
Taste is fine.One can find tamil nadu style foods out here as the name states.Their Non veg spl thali is totally worth the money.All dishes are fine nothing spl.

One of the best South Indian chains in UAE. Very pocket friendly. If you have a craving for South Indian chettinad non veg cuisine, then this is the place. Must try the variety in dosas, especially the egg dosa or chicken dosa. Even their daily meal is a very balanced one. Its a place from where you could eat your daily meal and not fall sick. Hygiene is maintained very well. Amma's has branches in karama, international city, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah-Al Nahdha, Ras Al Khor and discovery gardens.
Authentic Chettinad and South India, True mothers taste. The genuine taste is brought out by authentic masalas used, which lingers in your mind.

Ordered breakfast here, delivery was quick with 30mins. Packing was very decent as every meal had its individual serving of sambar and chutney.
I had ordered masala dosa, Mysore masala dosa and idly along with filter coffee. What else does a south Indian need to kick start weekend😂 sambar had a homemade taste really good, it's not d one made with coconut. Mysore masala dosa was the best. I thoroughly enjoyed it, rest was OK.. I judge south Indian by d sambar one can make. So overall it was a nice experience!

One of the BEST south indian (typical Arcot) biryani that I have ever tasted in UAE. Very much cost effective and hygeinic food is being served. South Indian delicacies like kothu parotta, ceylone parotta are must try....

Really delicious south Indian food. If you are a bachelor you can dine in there but as a family it's better to order for home delivery. One more thing is the packing charges are on the higher side. It should be reduced a bit. But food delicious and yummy. Prices are very normal.
If you are a bachelor and looking for good South Indian food especially parotta kurma, egg veechu parotta, kalakki etc, it's the place for you. If you are planning to take your family, first visit and be sure that your family will like the ambience. It's a simple and busy place, so if you are looking for a not so busy place then it's not. Food are tasty and value for money.

I don't know much about South Indian curries. But comfortable with sticking to the basics. Dosai , uttapam and idli. Tried the extra large paper masala dosai a while back and the taste reaffirms my belief that these small joints do dosas better than their pretentious upmarket Indian restaurants. Must try if you are a fan of dosas.

Ammas Discovery gardens.
A small time joint in discovery gardens serving Tamil cuisine. Seating is not comfortable for families due to high influx of bachelors but their breakfast, meals for lunch and dinner are affordable and is true value for money. Definitely a thumbs up for budget conscious bunch.
I am a south Indian. I love to explore cuisines from different parts of India. I used to order from this restaurant because they were too pocket friendly compared to other south indian food available in DG. However, some of their food lacks in quality like the white boiled rice served with thalis and long grain rice used in fried rice, some pesti smell and sambar. I do not know why. After a very long time, recently i ordered (because i was bored of trying other restaurants) their Chettinad chicken biryani (I am actually a fan of authentic Hyderabadi Dum biryani) which tickled my tastebuds. They used extra long grain rice and authentic chettinad masala. This time i shall try their mutton biryani. If you are a south indian, should try their spicy chettinad biryani.
Amma's, literally meaning Mother's is quite an inconspicuous place at the first glance. However, it's only those who have tasted their food knows how good it is. Amma's have quite a fan following especially targeting the south Indian crowd and some north Indians like me who indulge in various cuisines. They mostly have all sort of Southern cuisine with a predominant Tamil influence. One can have a sumptuous breakfast and lunch and it's not a bad place for a family dinner at all.
Good place for Idli Dosa at reasonable price - Better than other south Indian restaurants in that area. Their Sambar & chutneys too are good.
My kids prefer to have Parotta with Chicken Gravy.
Spice is little on higher side as compared to others, but considering its a south indian restaurant its ok.
Only problem is Idli will be over soon and so their briyani :-(

You will get good tasteful food in better price. I’m North Indian so I don’t know the whole range and variety but the ghee roast dosa is awesome and hot idly are soft as cotton. Really recommend the place. Please try to tea also.

Visited today to this resturant for breakfast. You will find one of the best Dosa and idlis along with vada. They make fresh dosa and poori on order . Whereas the availabilty of vada and idlis are limited. During lunch they don't serve dosa and have curry dishes with rice and paratha.
Home delivery is also available with certain packaging charges.
Over all its a good value for money resturant If you are lover of South Indian food and stay in discovery garden or the garden area. It's a mush try.
On Friday, be cautious for waiting...as it very crowded.
In terms of hygiene you have to comprise a bit specially for the restroom area and hand wash area.
Food is good , staff is also good and very friendly. Lot of people drink Karak Chai which also very reasonably priced.

I had visited "Amma's Restaurant" (Discovery Gardens) Today for Lunch, ordered Chicken and fish thali which was amazing and on request they provided Brown rice and also extra sabji and gravy which made me full filled. Good value for money. Unlimited chutney and sambar. Idili Dosa is great just like in India. Take a bit long to cook food. Need to share table with strangers sometimes. Gobi Manchurian was a bit random. Not sure about the cross continimation with meat dishes. Absolutely local chennia experience.
