Black-ribbon tied pizza box, a photo shoot CD, a brochure, and an invite. It was their opening night, and I was not able to make it. Since then, I always wondered what this pizza parlor was about, other than their obvious slogan of The World's Thinnest Pizza.
First off, it's a wee bit difficult to find the place, if you aren't a frequent visitor in Business Bay - I had no idea there were a lot of eateries in the Executive Towers! A good friend of mine took me here for lunch and said he'd tried it with another friend. I was elated when he said he thought I'd like it. Anyway, he's not the type to remember things or directions during the first visits, so it was quite a long walk for us paired with a few directional queries, and realized how far our car was parked. It's at the far end of the strip, close to Spinneys - I was not disappointed with the long walk after seeing the parlor. It looked bright, fresh, chic, and very fashionable. The interiors were very inviting, loved the music and the vibe it gave off. The servers were also pleasant and pleasant looking, following the code of the chic pizza place.
The menu was an eyeful to read, I must admit. Thank God for the breakdown of ingredients and toppings they added underneath each pizza name, otherwise, I never would've figured it out! My partner and I usually share dishes with the exception of sandwiches and burgers, but he warned me of how "skinny" the pizza crust is, so we might have to order a pizza each. He ordered the Absolutely Fabulous and I, the Studio Shoot. They gave us some breadsticks to whet our appetites, and give us a notion of HOW skinny the crust might be, I thought. The breadsticks were extremely skinny. It looked like half of a saltine cracker! Served with some tomato sauce, I found it quite delicious and it definitely upped my curiosity. Service was quite quick, considering we were the only customers. Our pizzas arrived fresh and hot on what seemed to be a brick - or was it a wooden board? I can't seem to remember. The pizzas looked delicious and smelled inviting. The crust was, well, they really do stick to their motto. I wouldn't doubt they make the world's thinnest pizza, you can't get any thinner! So mine was Studio Shoot, which was basically a pesto-sauce based pizza, topped with thin slivers of turkey breast ham, some Parmigianno cheese, and fresh basil. I personally loved it. I like my herbs and am a big fan of all things pesto, my partner thought it to be too herb-y, though. But, it wasn't bitter herb-y, no. It was fragrant, sweet, the garlic in the pesto sauce gave the whole pizza a kick, the drizzling of olive oil amped up the flavors of the dish, I thought it was divine! The Absolutely Famous, on the other hand, was a fresh-tomato sauce based pizza, topped with slices of roasted chicken breast, shreds of soft mozz and mild cheddar cheeses, and cherry tomatoes. I loved that, too. The flavors were definitely balanced. Nothing too extreme, not too cheesy, and those cherry tomatoes just gave off a nice juicy, sweet burst in every bite.
Overall, I liked everything. I thought the decor was simple, yet elegant. The server was really nice and attentive. The food was true and fresh. I would definitely go back and try out their other pizzas. Men, beware, you're bound to use a glittery ladies' pouch for the bill!
