Visited the place after 2008. The food quality is still amazing and their Dosas and Coffee for breakfast is certainly the winner on a Friday morning. While of course lots of things have changed over the decade but to see the waiters in their white dress with "Woodlands" logo reminds of you New Woodlands in Chennai (near Egmore)!
I love south Indian food and Woodlands Restaurant serves good south Indian vegetarian fare. I Love this place for breakfast. The price is very decent and the quality of food is good. We went on a Friday evening.
We decided to order the Rava masala dosa, Ghee Roast Masala dosa, Mysore Dosa and filter coffee.
The Dosa’s was crisp and crunchy…had such a good one in a long time. The filter coffee was good and the best thing was that it wasn’t overtly sweet.
The order came in no time. The servers are really quick and efficient.
We totally enjoyed our food.
Been dining from here since 12 years, been my all time vegetarian favourite restaurant in Karama. Food quality stands tall as usual all over the years , they've been at this location since the time they've began.
Small and simple store.
Order: 1 x Mysore Masala Dosa
1 x Vada
1 x Filter Coffee
4 x Vada (Take Away- for people at home)
The most amazing thing is their freshness and the vada is always hot and crispy hadn't had such delicious one's elsewhere in Dubai. Oh and the plastic /disposable plates are due to the pandemics, usually they serve you in a big steel platter with the small curry bowls.
Worth visiting and would recommend this to anyone, I usually don't give a 5 star rating but for this one I'd guarantee about the quality.
Will always visit back for vegetarian food.
Good vegetarian restaurant. Brings in nostalgia when i visit the place as it is my favorite restaurant from childhood. Food is still good .
This is authentic South Indian restaurant serves different varieties of food from different south places.. one of the best restaurants for south food.. this is the best authentic South food i ever had in Dubai.
My daily breakfast corner. Woodlands is a local legend. Superb food at very reasonable price. Coffee is unparalleled in Dubai!
Smiling & welcoming staff, very competitive price, I was surprised to see the menu and its prices, best filter coffee, this is a regular now, rava onion dosa is really good, hot crispy vada amazing 👌🏻
Keep up the good service!
Hygiene and homemade feel
Specially chapatis, I would suggest if they can improve the quality of chapstick a lil bit to be perfectly soft otherwise it was awesome kitchen to have food.
Very tasty & home style food. Love their cashew rawa sada, plain sada, cute rice, rasam & coffee! Staff is always smiling ☺️
Good light food!
A small joint in Karama which serves tasty and simple vegetarian food. I love their dosas- especially ghee roast and vada. budget friendly as well
There is something magical about the red coloured dry coconut chutney that they serve. No other udipi or South Indian restaurant serves this in dubai. Idly, Pongal and dosai are very nice. Filter coffee is not upto the mark but recently much improved than before, they even serve it in brass tumbler set
Woodlands restaurant serves south Indian food..their thali is contain various types of South Indian food..their rava dosa, masala dosa comes with different types of Chutney and smabhar..the sambhar vada is super tasty..and crispy.
Ambiance is good with friendly staff management. Faster Service provided by their staff. Their paper masala dosa and onion tomato uttapam, both food are good and tasty. Quality as per price is good. Value for money.
One of the best hotel for crispy dosa.tried their masal dosa and vada, very tasty and the servise also very quick..will visit again to try some other dishes..
Woodlands anywhere in the world is always good specially their morning breakfast.
Rava Masala had a very crispy dosa and the potato with Masala tasted excellent.
Wada Sambhar was also very crispy and served hot. Very good taste. The restaurant smells of their Sambar making us more hungry.
In the end the Filter Coffee makes us energetic for a tough day ahead.
Very refreshing experience and all happy faces in their restaurant.
Change is the spice of life but sometimes we wish that some things never change !! This is one place where the quality of food has remained authentic and unchanged . Ordered a veg thali today , not expecting too much but was taken aback by the taste of the food, so delicious, light and wholesome. It even comes at a reasonable price which is in this day a rarity. The veggies, dal, Sambhar, rasam, payasam, each dish was a treat on its own. Five stars from me to this gem !!
Woodlands has always been a cult when it comes to quality food and taste. They haven't succumbed to the pressures of fusion foods.
Loved the thali and the coffee which is a must-try.
Keep up with the tradition, great job done.
Good restaurant in Karama offering good south Indian food variety!!
We tried south Indian thali, idli wada, onion rava and topped it with filter coffee. Wada was freshly made and served hot and crispy.... Thali had wide variety of South Indian food..
Next time tried all dosas, sada, rava, wheat and set dosa...all dosas were very good and served with variety of chutneys and sambhar.
Filter coffee is one of the best in Dubai!!
Service and food quality is excellent!!
Highly recommend this small restaurant.
One of the best and oldest restaurants in Dubai for South Indian breakfast. Quick and prompt service, they have a decent pricing as well. My favorite is their Poori bhaaji!
We had been there for dinner and had a veg thali(unlimited) which was just 16Dhs. I loved all the dishes and payassam too. I totally recommend you guys to visit this place.
the place is good for South Indian food.the place is old like the 90 's but there is no compromise on taste.had ghee masala Rosa.onion vada and filter copy and Orange juice.
I had been here yesterday for dinner. Went for their veg thali which was absolutely delicious. It came in variations, puri or chapati. I went for puri. They served it with rassam, sambar, dal gravy, beans sabzi, veg stew, korma sabzi , yogurt pickle, papad and payasam.
I loved the spread. And it was unlimited for barely 16Dhs! Totally worth the money if you like South Indian home-style cuisine.
Super tasty Masala dosa and varieties of chutney’s. Enjoyed their filter coffee and vada. Must visit place. One of the oldest Vegetarian Restaurant in Dubai.
Your no nonsense place to go for a simple South Indian meal. I am a regular for the filter coffee and love it. The service is very prompt and love the quick turnaround time.
The interiors definitely can be redone as it needs a facelift.
Authentic southindian food. Prompt service and friendly staff. Would like to visit this place many more times. The South Indian Thali is highly recommended. So too the idiyappam. Getting parking nearby is a big hurdle. In my opinion, amongst the South Indian peers, this restaurant should top the list.
Went there for breakfast. It's an old restaurant but somewhat neat. Ordered puri with potato masala, masala dosa, mysore sadha dosa and coffee. everything was good. In particular the puri. We ended up ordering more fresh puris. They were small and tasty. Good quality food for cheap rates!
Their onam thali was beyond amazing, today ! Been their customer every year just for this thali and they never disappoint. Totally worth 25 dhs.
Make sure you are starving to do justice to the meal !
The ghee roast and fresh idlis in the morning with fresh coconut chutney is yumm!! Just the perfect one needs to have on a Friday morning and ending it with the filter coffee. This joint never disappoints for breakfast.
Woodlands is by far one of the best South Indian restaurants in town. Absolutely love every dish that I have tried. A big shout out for their variety of food and the ever so welcoming staff.

Woodlands Restaurant is my top favorite South Indian Restaurant in Dubai. Hearing about this restaurant from my friends, I was really excited to try the South Indian Breakfast Delicacies from here.
Podi Dosa, one of the famous type of Dosa you can find in Tamil Nadu was included in the menu and I ordered that one. Being a big fan of Podi Dosa, I was eagerly waiting to try that. Along with that, I ordered one Filter Coffee as well.
The Dosa and coffee combination is exceptional. Podi was smeared with Podi (A dry powder that serve with Dosa and idli) and also Butter. Such a wonderful breakfast for a wonderful day.
Great place for snacks!
It's been in the same location for a long time and I decided to try it out quite recently :P
Ordered rava dosa, masala dosa and idli; loved their dosa's as they were very crispy and the potato stuffing was tasty :)
Idlis were lovely, the sambhar and chutney served alongside paired really well with it.
Will definitely be back to try some more of their scrumptious snacks
Tasty food, fast service and great prices!! Coffee is amazing, too. Found this little place tucked away behind karama shopping area and have been a regular here ever since. Even when they are super busy, they are fast.
One of the places i am regular at for the last 23 years in Woodlands, it still has the same taste and ambiance as earlier. Undoubtedly the best place to have a quick dosa, vada, idli that is amazingly fresh and soft. Owner himself is present most of the time probably that is the secret of the quality and taste. Its located in the karama market area. Great food at affordable price and very efficient and friendly staff !
Almost every week we eat from this restaurant either take away or delivery or dine in as it’s healthy option to opt for and it’s too quick to get also no waiting just go n eat nice flavourful fresh healthy food n kids favorite as well our favorite list is curd rice Rasam rice n mini meal
Woodlands is this cute little place in Karama - a rather hidden gem. All their dishes are quiet tasty and they have great variety as well. Surely value for money!
My parents discovered this hidden gem in Karama around 2 years back and ever since we found it, we’ve only been coming here to satisfy our South Indian food cravings.
Did you know that Woodlands was established exactly 39 years ago in Dubai??!!! And it has been in the same spot in karama ever since.
I’ve tried their plain dosas, masala dosa, rava dosa as well as their uttapams and Chana bature. All of these taste amazing every time we eat them.
One of my favorite dishes here which we order every single time without leaving is ❤️ Palak Vada ❤️. Discovered it after seeing it at someone else’s table and we were so curious that we ordered one plate for ourselves too! And it did not disappoint at all. It’s a vada filled with palak bits and some cashew nuts and chillies which comes with the traditional South Indian Chutneys. Do try this out when you visit Woodlands!
Heard its the only restaurant that serves vegetarian food. Try the thali its pretty amazing. The food is overall very affordable served in a calm ambiance.

Amazing South Indian food. Your tummy and tastebuds are going to be in Heaven and wallet is also going to be super happy. Don’t miss the filter coffee!!
Though the ambience is not very attractive, the food is real good. The South Indian thaali is delicious. Like their sambar and rasam very much.
Mouth watering masala dosa n filter coffee is always a delight n woodland is pure epitome...
Good price
Good food
Must go place if u love southindian dishes
Simple , tasty ,homely food. Their idly's and dosa's are wonderful. Had nice breakfast. Visiting the same outlet for the last 20 years . Excited to go back . Try and you wont be disappointed.
King of dosas. Simple served with a smile. Consistent for many years. Hardly anybody in Dubai living for some years in Dubai must have missed it. Must for all to taste the homely warmth of this place.
A quaint little place nestled up in the streets of Karama.. Very good south indian snacks and meal items.. Food wise you would not a better place for south indian food.. their service is very fast.. you can be in n out of the place in under 30 mins with your bellies full and hearts content.. they could improve their ambiance and wait staff though.. wait staff is not as attentive to the customers, owing to their ever busy restaurant.. and you definitely do not visit this restaurant for their ambiance.. you visit them for their amazing dosas and filter coffee..
Food: 5/5
Ambiance: 3/5
Service: 4/5
A regular for 7 years, love the taste and the Chennai city ambience. My favorites are the Masala Dosa, Idly, Vada, Onion Uttappam, Meals and filter Coffee.
My son and I swear by their dry-poori-bhaji with coconut chutney and their home made lemon pickle. Dosa, idly, sambhar dipped wada, sheera are one of their regular but very promising items.
This place is like one of the oldest yet they have been able to maintain the quality of their food and service. This is also one of the most dependable ones; if nothing else works out, this one is always ready to deliver on time and with a smile (of course within their working hours!).
Their dining facility is quite basic but clean and welcoming. Uncle ji on the counter is always happy to receive you and he doesn't seem to be growing old! In my last 15 years in Dubai, he looks the same!!! Something to do with his restaurant food or his smiles I guess :).
Its a small restaurant but is good. They serve south indian food. I like their Thali's the most which includes 3 types of rice. Parking might me a prob during the evenings.
Average ambiance. Overall its a good restaurent
I have been eating in this place for more than 8 years now and the quality has never changed . I love the crispiness of the dishes and its always served hot. They are also really famous for their filter coffee so you must go and check that out.
i must say an authentic south indian feel when u enter this place.... not a posh ambience... but as i said... feel home place... i love their masala dosa and their veg meals... a feel good place..
We’ve been eating here over the past 25+ years. Food is simple , tasty made the traditional palghat Brahmin way. Service is quick and servers are very helpful . Love their Friday lunch thali.
We go to Woodlands for some of the best South Indian fare in Dubai
Woodlands is an old no frills restaurant in Karama. Woodlands typically serves Palakkad style South Indian fare as against the Chennai style South Indian fare fished out by the likes of Saravana Bhavan or Sangeetha
Their Friday afternoon South Indian meals are a speciality and we visit the restaurant specifically for the same
The decor and interiors of the restaurant are basic but the foods they serve is very good
Must try place for good South Indian fare at a reasonable price
Very reasonably priced and good tasting offerings in the menu. This restaurant offers south Indian cuisine. I ordered for a masala dosa and curd rice. Both lived up to my expectations. 👍🏻
This restaurant gave somewhat of a homely feel. Ordered a Ghee Roast Dosa and a Masala Dosa. The Dosa was well cooked and delicious, the chutney and sambar which they provided were delicious. Will definetly go there again. And a nice peaceful ambience, friendly staff, and a very reasonable price.
Great tasting food. quality of ingredients and preparations absolutely could not be faulted. would have been a five star if not for dirty water glasses and jug. a quick improvement is needed i guess.

Thali lover ? Do try the South Indian thali here. It’s a simple restaurant with delicious thali and love their Masala dosa too. Good service.
There are many South Indian Joints around this place but my personal favorite is Woodlands.
The service is good. Food is excellent. Staff is very well behaved and helpful.
The Ghee Masala Roast is one of the best along with the filter coffee.
You can also try the Idli, Crispy Vada and other Dosas.
Perfect place to start your day.
Our Friday breakfast place whether you dine there or carry home - to us the best South Indian restaurant in Dubai. Dosas, idlis, filter coffee just outstanding.
Woodlands is one of the restaurants that I keep coming back to, because the food never fails to amaze me. Last time I had cashew dosa, but this time the server helped me decide what to get… their dinner special, Wheat Paratha with Kuruma. Surprisingly, the service has improved. The servers were attentive and fast. They served my food fast too. My wheat paratha looks different with other parathas I’ve had. It’s like a yarn playfully scattered by a kitten on the plate. It was a bit thicker than other parathas I had. The kuruma is tasty. I cooked kurma before, but this one is even better. We asked for a second serving and they served it really fast and hot. From 4/5 last time, it’s now 4.5/5.
Visited Woodlands after years. Taste and quality still remains the same. Softest idlis ever and the tastiest simple white chutney. Service bit slow. But hey the prices are really cheap..
My favourite vegetarian restaurant for ages. I have come here more times than I count!! Even at an young age, I used to visit the place with family to have there special Thali!!...Would say that its the best Thali I have ever had. Highly recommend. Decent location (parking might be a problem) and service. Exceptionally good food.
This little restaurant used to be our go to place for a South Indian breakfast - and for several years we used to always come here.
The food and service were both consistently good, and never disappointed.
The owner himself used to be at the cash counter keeping an eye on the proceedings - and would always smile and acknowledge all the regulars.
Haven’t been back for a while - as Karama spoils you for the choices available now.
I love this restaurant. I love their masala dosa with three types of coconut chutney!! Its a nice restaurant for veggie lovers. Filter coffee is awesome. But the restaurant is not properly and neatly maintained.
"This one was the least expensive but not by much. The food turned out really good. Especially coming from 3 months of Asia travel. recommendable
"
Woodlands is a great, little South Indian restaurant.
I've been going to the restaurant for years, and have received the same, amazing service and food.
The food is reasonably priced and the portions are decent.
The potato bhaji they use in their masala dosa's have to be one of my favourite, also, the chutney they serve with their dishes are so flavourful.
I would recommend trying their filter coffee, it just makes you feel good when you drink it. It's not very sweet.
Super tasty South Indian cuisine available
In this place.good table service and on time home delivery.
I strongly recommend that you can visit without any hesitation....
Sambar rice, idly sambar,Mysore masala dosa highly recommended
Have been there few times.... mostly for breakfast... a decent place for vegetarian food, both in terms of taste and pocket friendly... I would suggest to try their idli dip ( small idlies dipped in Sambar) and coffee... a small restaurant... but clean ... staff are very good behavior...
Giving 4 stars...
Great South Indian breafast, and value for money. The paper roast is quite big and crispy too, no soggy dosas here! The staff is friendly and I have been regular to this joint.
Simple and unpretentious setting with home style food. We ordered the thali and it was delicious. Sometimes all you need is a simple home style meal to satisfy all your senses. This simple thaali (which means plate in Hindi) came with 1. Yellow moong dal 2. Saambar 3. Avial 4. Potato sabji 5. Mor Kozhumba 6. Chana masala 7. Yoghurt 8. Paysam 9. Rotis and papad. Exactly what I
Absolutely love the crispy vadas along with the white coconut chutney and sambar served here. Also recommend the dosas and upma. Overall, a one stop restaurant for tasty South Indian food!!!
Food: We ordered two mysore masala dosas , the medhu vada plate and puri bhaji. They were all crispy, hot and fresh. Usually most veg restaurants make really oily puris, but their puris were crispy and oil free which made the meal all the more better. The dosa and the vada tasted great aswell. I liked their tomato chutney the most.
Price: The pricing was very pocket friendly as we got 4 dishes + 4 teas all for just AED 40.
Service: The service was excellent as we got all our dishes in under 5 mins of placing our order. The only downside was that they didnt have some of the dishes mentioned on the menu.
Overall, its a great place for vegetarian food thats budget friendly as well. I would definately visit this joint again.
Fried idli: 4/5
Sada dosa: 4.5/5
Onion rava dosa: 5/5
Onion and tomato uttapum: 3.5/5
Masala dosa: 4.5/5
Prices are reasonable and food is tasty. Convenient location. Cosy seating arrangement.
This place has been here for a long time. same place in Karama for decades, which tells a lot. They have excellent south indian food. We have their thali and dosa and idli from time to time. Service is quick and friendly. the thali is unlimted. Parking could be an issue but you usually find it closeby. A highly recommended place to go for south indian food
Still good food in karama like olden days.Good and quick service.
filter coffee and it was served in a traditional copper cup was strong and perfect.
Love the food, especially the thali. Kid loves the vada. And to finish it - filter "cappee". Staff is friendly. Only grudge is they DO NOT deliver to Mankhool. Now, common guys. Karamah to Mankhool is not that far. Please deliver.
Woodlands makes rather good dosas and vadas. Their chutneys and uttapams are average, but if you are looking for an affordable place to gorge yourself on South Indian breakfast foods, you could do a lot worse.
Service is quick and prompt. My ordered food - Masala dosa, filter coffee is tasty and presentable. Ambience is also ok.Juice is bit expensive.
Very nice food and friendly staff. Very honest too. I overpaid by mistake, the guy at the counter returned my money
Good service and nice ambience.
This place has been here since ages and the food still tastes the same! We go here whenever we are in Karama and craving vegetarian food. Their thalis are excellent and very reasonably priced. Also have had their Dosa, uttapam, and idlis. all very good. As its karama, parking could be a problem, but then you can park and always go for a nice walk as its behind the famous Karama shopping center.
Dont expect too much of an ambiance, hoever great food and great service from the staff.
I visited Woodlands Restaurant in Karama this week after maybe twenty years. I fondly remember their delicious thalis from my childhood days. Now their thali was just OK and not like the taste I remembered. However a friend recommended to try their Mysore Dosas and it was excellent. Nice and spicy just how I like and I enjoyed a lot. A quiet restaurant and good service. I will be back again for my favourite Mysore Sada Dosa and their other dishes :)
لازم اخذ منه لما اجي دبي... يلا سانقو افتح بالدمام الحين بتفتح بجدة..

Delicious South Indian food, good service and reasonably priced. Warm and humble staff at your service. I would have given it a 5 star rating but for the ambiance.
Please don't go there for the ambiance, just go and enjoy the food and the service.
Paid parking available in front of the restaurant.
