Yes, it is a simple restaurant but for over 7 years now I've been ordering from its 2 branches - dubai marina and discovery gardens and the food is still the same comfort simple food which have seen only minor changes quality and price wise over the years.
My staple order here is really a staple and includes amazing flakey maida parathas, aappams, mango fish curry, chicken home curry and hot and sour soup. Needless to say this gets even better when one might be feeling extra sensitive after a late night-out ;)
Parathas are of 2 types brown wheat and normal so choose, great curries good for family..
Nice place for family to visit and must say a very affordable place. Portion and taste both are good, total value for money.
We had called for pepper mutton curry, chicken curry home style, idlis and rotis. Extremely satisfied meal. Must try if spice fan thou. Idli were vey fresh and tender too. Chicken Garlic kebab & Chicken Lollipop is a must try. Food delivery was ontime.

Basic family restaurant, with tasty veg and non veg South Indian dishes, reasonably priced, the egg curry and roast is a must try and their mango curries, fried fish and chicken chettinad are delicious, perfectly paired with fresh appams.
We tried veg manchurian , panner tikka masala, malabar parrota. Everything was great in taste. Cme in right time as well. Food portion sizes are decent.
Appa Kadai association goes long back... whenever I used to crave for some home like food, this was the place I would be as it was just the next building to where I stayed in Marina... their appams and egg roast or fish curry or a quick combo serving would take care of my dinner after a long day of work! Though it is slightly far from where I live now after 8 years in this city, associations with this place is still sweet whenever I yearn for a crab curry or a Hyderabadi biriyani or appam... they never disappoint.

I went with my family to this restaurant for the first time . The food was delicious, well served and value for money. Also I liked the certification that the restaurant got from the food department, “ A “ grade which shows the commitment and dedication of the management n staffs towards treating and serving the customer. Delicious food!! Although a traditionally South Indian restaurant, all the food is amazing. Love the butter chicken, rotis, parotta, etc. One of the best Chinese food tasted as well!
Good offering of different varieties of appams, egg masala being my fav. Cettinad chicken to manglorian fish curry everything seems to be the authentic south Indian taste. Love the spicy garlic curry which was something new from the menu.
Aappa Kadai has a good options for vegetarians..i personally like Chinese combo which comes with fried rice and chilly gobi..they are good combos..staff is very fast and polite..the ambience is good.
Family friendly ambience with good food. Tries the Travancore fish curry and rice. Flavour was very good. We ordered a fried king fish but when they brought it , the masala tasted raw. We sent it back and they fried it once more and then it tasted great! Average pricing.
Love the Chinese combo of Schezwan Fried rice & chilly gobi , friendly staff . Most favorite place & this combo is all over all time favorite ❤️
One can never go wrong when u dine at this restaurant. they have very economical combo meals of appam and chicken. have tried biryani as well. Biryani has good taste. My friend was happy with his egg masala and apam combo.

Ordered for chicken curry Homestyle with Aappam. Portion is very generous however bit spicy but tasty. Had good south indian style gravy with the Aappam. Though they have different varieties of Aappam which we do not get anywhere, i stuck to the traditional type as wanted to enjoy the Chicken curry.
Waiters are very humble and quick in service.
Service was prompt they have good menu for vegetarian . I was lucky enough to see chef making live appam as I have never seen how they make appam he was too good making 6 appam in 6 different stove.

Ordered chicken noodles and Hyderabadi chicken biryani on zomato. Gave special instructions not to use tasting salt which is not good for babies under 2. Best part is they bought me with out adding colour too (which I forgot to mention). That's the reason I gave them 4 stars. Taste of both the items were good and I liked them.
Food was nice....we tried mushroom masala,Paneer tikka masala ang Kozhi Varathu arachathu with appam....the taste was nice....I visited there in friday evening....the most disappointing thinks are there is not enough service staff to the restaurant....one more think there is no fresh milk tea or coffee....
For me this place is great for one thing, the tandoori chicken. Admittedly I order from Appa Kadai just for the chicken - which is possibly my favourite tandoori chicken in Dubai. It’s not pretentious, over spiced or cooked till it’s dried out. 99% of the time it’s cooked perfectly and the price point is great. I’ve also eaten their Hydrabadi biryani and dhaal which is also good. Like I said though it’s the chicken thats fantastic.
Speciality, authentic appams and Indian street food favorites. If you don’t know your appams from your Chapatis, this is a great place to start. I love to dip the Bulls Eye appam in Mango Fish Curry - deliciousness!
We tried a delivery order from Aapa Kadai of Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani, Egg Kothu Parotta, Spicy Brinjal Curry and Egg Appam. The order came in good time and food was piping hot.
The biryani had good amount of meat with aromatic rice, the biryani should be categorized as spicy. With the sour gravy and yogurt its a great balance and you get flavourful morsels till the very end. We also had spicy brinjal curry which was again awesome. This brinjal curry worked well with the biryani too and worked pretty well with the egg appam too. It would have worked well with just aappams but oh well :)
The Egg Kothu Parotta was again pretty awesome. And a very generous portion of food. All in all the food was primarily spicy but really tasty all out. We enjoyed the order and would definitely be trying them again.
The food was delivered cold ( not even warm ) , no straw for the drink , no cutlery set , no salad . Very poor delivery standards. I have expected a better service from this place .

Aappa kadai is my all time favorite for appams. Since their marina outlet closed, we went to the discovery gardens outlet.. which is much better than the marina one!
We ordered appams, veg chettinad, garlic spicy curry and buttermilk. The appams were perfect! Crisp on the edges and soft and fluffy in the center. Both the gravies were delicious; fresh and with the right amount of spice.
The buttermilk was fresh and not too creamy. All in all, a very good meal.
The only issue was the service. When I informed the server about my egg allergy his very surprising response was - ‘Our owner has told us that when allergy cases come, do not serve them’ . This is the first time I have been told that the restaurant will not serve me on account of an allergy! We still went ahead and had the meal ( after convincing him to inform the kitchen to wipe the utensil clean) and I am glad we did as the food was totally worth it. It was the attitude of the server that was disappointing.
Besides this minor glitch, definitely the go-to place for appams.
Just loved the food. Aappam was awesome.
We ordered chicken chettinad, aappam and beef coconut fry it was very tasty same as south Indian style. Service was excellent. There was 10% off through Emirates NBD debit card. I prefer to give rating 5 out of 5.
Nice and freshly made tasty food.. not many options for vegetarians but Veg stew and brinjal curry is must try with appams .. crowded on weekends but very manageable on weekdays.. good service and great value food .. ample free parking around ..

Dinner at a friends place and they order food from my favorite place for malabar food what more can i ask for . Thursday evening got better as i relished the yummy food from this place . My friend ordered for chicken porichattu, beef chilli dry, chicken chettinad, mango fish curry, appam and kerala parotas. Food was delivered timely. Chicken Porichattu was crispy, flavorful and i love the crispy curry leaves loaded over the chicken pieces . Mango fish curry was finger licking delicious...spicy and tangy. chicken chettinad was pretty good too and beef chilli dry was also good . Though the appams didnt really taste like the way we have it fresh but yet was soft and nice . kerala parotas were lovely . Overall a perfect weekend dinner .
One best place to have Appam. Different varieties you can get. Always preferred Appam and egg curry masala.

I have been eyeing on Aappa Kadai for a long time, but the traffic or parking won’t allow us. It is always full on weekends, the good thing about it is they don’t close during lunchtime.
Crispy appams and delicious curries, what else do we want on a thursday night. Love the spice in their dishes. One of the top places to order from during weekends. Favourite items from their menu are chicken chettinadu, chicken sukka, mutton sukka, kozhi porichathu. Packed appams are not crispy though. However still very tasty. We even save it for breakfast the next day 😁.

Best Tamil restaurant near Dubai Marina/ JLT side for sure. Had a really tasty Onam Sadya & have always enjoyed their food. Sometimes they have specials during Eid like Deer, really rare and interesting.
