One of my Chennai friend took me to Chennai Spice, saying this restaurant is one of her favorite. We tried mersal mutton and appam & half mutton biriyani. We parceled kothamalli mutton with appam also. Every dishes were very tasty. Average ambience and pricing. Staff were cooperative and suggested us dishes.
Will go there again to try other dishes. Though I’m from Kerala, Love the taste of Chennai.

Hi guys been here had their South Indian food here it’s decent enough you can try this restaurant it’s well decent South Indian food . 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Love this place for its simplicity and authenticity. For those who are looking for it , the name has changed to Chennai Spice restaurant ( there's another one just around the corner so you' ll have to ask if the restaurant was Al shay before). It's my third time here and I loved the food each time. In the three times I ve been here, i ve had the mutton stew, pomfret fry ( fish was a bit small) , neer dosa, appam, mota rice, prawn curry, chickken amot, chicken fry and kube. And everything was simply amazing. The service is also great and it feels just like home. Great value for money with most meals not more than 50 dhs for 2 people. Definitely would go here everyday if I lived nearby!
Good place for some nice sea food and mangalorean cuisine. I have tried mangalorean style fish curry (king fish), chicken sukka with idli and pathrade (traditional mangalorean dish)
Al Shay Restaurant is best when you need some good food quickly. I've ordered delivery many times but never dined in. The quality of food, quick delivery, cheaper rates and discount on every order is their USP which is quite appreciable.
Strongly recommended for lovers of
Mangalorean cuisine. The 'Kori Roti' and 'Ghee Roast Chicken' were both simply delicious although I didn't think the Ghee Roast looked or tasted like the authentic Mangalorean one I'd tasted in the past. It was different, but I liked the taste. Pair this with Neer Dosa - great combination! I would definitely order from Al
Shay again!
Best located restaurants in karama specialty about Mangalorean food idli sukka chickens masala dosa chatni etc I love south Indian food with coconut .....
I was introduced to Al Shay by a Mangolorean friend of mine. At first glance, it might not look like much. Don't let the simplistic, no frills interior, plant any seeds of doubt though. This place serves some of the most authentic Mangolorean cuisine. Their 'Neer Dosa' ( a uniquely thin rice flour pancake) is melt in mouth and goes beautifully well with the chicken/squid ghee roast and many of their other regional delicacies. The 'Sanna'( tastes like the soft centre part of Sri Lankan/Kerala hopper (Appam) but is more fluffier.) too, is so light on the tummy and pairs extremely well with their fish, prawns or meat curries or roasts. Roasts are semi-dry, fried preparations made using regional spices.
i love their spicy sardine fry too. The fish is shallow fried and flavoured with a masala (spice mix) that makes you want more.
On some days though, I've found the Neer Dosas/Sannas to be a bit drier and less softer than usual. That's the only complaint.
But for a Sri Lankan bloke, who loves spicy seafood on his plate, but rarely finds it cooked to his liking in most restaurants, this place is a Godsend.
Authentic Mangalorean food joint. Reasonably priced food and quick home delivery.. the perfect mix of spices!
Tried Chicken Amot with Sana :) and hamour tawa fry, both equally tasty. Can't wait to eat from here again..
Dont miss the tawa fried prawns.
Authentic Mangalorean restaurant...with finger licking dishes and amaZing sannas..highly recommended to give a try..quiet location and hygienic place without feeling a pinch on the wallet.visited many times as I love their food...
When away from home, this small restaurant in karama satisfies my homefood craving with some delicious manglorean food at a reasonable price. The restaurant in itself isn't appealing to visit however that doesn't really matter, cause the aromas that come from that kitchen are just heavenly. Tried their fish thali that was good, enjoyed the kube mutle aed 22 which is steamed rice cakes with shellfish curry, and i was the happiest it was just like my grandma would make it. I've also had their masala pappad and its so damn good. Overall yummy food, good service and great value for money. A must visit for all the manglorean-goan goodness.
This restaurant in Karama serves delicious foood... When I ordered for the first time, I dint have much expectation.. But the pulimumchi n green stew, sukkga with sannna were so homely n delicious that now we order from here every other day.. I strongly recommend this place for authentic taste of manglorian food...
Authentic mangalorean food in karama. Fish thali is their speciality. Drawback of the restaurant is their ambience isnt appealing so suggest home delivery.
Best mangalorian food. The pickle they serve is awesome... love manglorian food. Tava fry fish masala is the best.. #goodfood #goodmood #foodies #livingforfood 😝🤣 highly recommended.
Ordered Kingfish Ambotik, Rawa fried Prawns and Jeera Rice.. The Fish Curry was very tasty and the Prawns fried to perfection. They also gave a mixed vegetable pickle which was yummmm. A must try place for good sea food.
This place is the best mangalorean food i have tasted actually better than mangalore. The kubbe sukka is our favorite... always grab a bowl of rice and this kubbe sukka... I think when one comes here they must try the mangalorean food...their squid, crab all of it mlore style is excellenttt... Food is not very greasy too... Beef Chili and Chicken lollipop are the only non-mlore dishes ivd tried and like!
If you like Mangalore breakfast this is the place you need to visit
You can also check the menu for dinner which is at Attached
I like idly and chicken curry there
Hamour tawa fry it is !!!!
Craving for mangalorian/ Goan food, this is the place you wanna be. Exceptionally affordable, quick service, great hospitality.
Everytime I enter this restaurant, the guy knows what I want. So basically I don't need to order.
Things to try :
Ofcourse Hamour Tawa fry
Neer dosa
Chicken vindaloo
Crab masala
Should cost you less than AED 50 for 2-3 people
Green salad comes free
went there for lunch with friends.. as recommended by a friend. we ordered plain rice , fish curry and king fish fry. felt like i was having homemade food away from home in Dubai.
For sure will go again to have this simple and the coastal food.
Very good service, nice ambiance feels like you are in konkan coastal belt of india.

The above dishes are really good in taste and the quality. The food arrives in time and the service is really good by the servers.

Food is excellent, finger looking good. Less oily and just the right spice levels. Staff are very friendly. Value for money.
Chicken sukha, fish pullimunchi, squid fry and neer dosa...yyuummm
An excellent restaurant serving authentic mangalore food. Very friendly staff. They actually make the dishes the way we want it. Beef in red pepper is good. Chicken fried rice and beef xacuti is fantastic. Very economical too.
Been to this small joint in karama and loved their food. Ghee roast is a must try along wid chicken lollipops. Beef chili is gud as well. A typical manglorean joint but good food
This is our favorite restaurant in Karama. We frequent this place very regularly cause its home style food. Love their chicken sukka, crab curry, chicken ghee roast, chicken biryani, prawns curry, dal. The list can go on a and on. It is not a fancy place like their neighbor but, any day I would go here for the yummy food, warm service and home style cooking. My son is a fan of this place especially for their chicken sukka and they make it boneless too as per his liking. Thank you for the yummy food and service!
My favorite mangalorean restaurant. Makes me remember food which my family cooks back in Mangalore. Have tasted almost all the items.
Thank u guys 😘
An awesome place for manglorean cuisine. Tried almost all dishes and I love the food from here. Feels like being home. Their service is gud too.
Had visited this place for dinner. Ordered squid manchurian which was pretty tasty. Also tried their soup which was not good.. ( sweet corn). However the mangy special Kube Mutle made up for it. Was very delicious
Fish lover..yes I am..I love dem only if the food is good and not stale..
Yesterday on d way to miracle garden, we stopped at al Shay for having a fish lunch..
It is a goan restaurant and had variety of options in d menu. The restaurant was quite empty n so I was a lil tensed if I would get to eat good fish dishes o not.. The ambience is ok just like a small restaurant..
After having a look at the menu, we ordered prawns fry, bombay duck(bombil) fry and taarli(Indian oil sardines).. When I had a piece of prawns, I was amazed..it was so tasty.. I had all d pieces myself and dint allow né one else to even pick a piece :p.. Bombil and taarli were also tasty..they were quite huge and was fried well, was fresh and dint have much oil.
Then v ordered brown rice, pomfret masala and mackerel(bangda) masala.. Rice was cooked well, pomfret masala was tasty and was not very spicy..big pomfret pieces were present and the gravy was also good.. Bangda masala was also tasty.
We still had a lil place in our stomach and so ordered pomfret tawa fry and bangda tawa fry..the the masala on d fish was so thick and red, I felt as if it had all the mirchis present in d restaurant.. However when I ate a piece, I just loved it..the pomfret was medium spicy and the masala was also good..
Overall I had a great experience.. Prawns fry is a must try here..
for all the mangys in the house! what a nice and calm place to have manglorian food.
good food good service and manglorian ambience. chicken stew is a definite try along with fish fry and fish curry. i am sure you will enjoy the food on a simple day when you wish to have a home like feel.
'Home away from home' cuisine is the best way to describe Al Shay. We have had several parties and always ordered authentic Manglorean and Goan fare from here. In fact, just last night we had a party and catered from Al Shay for 25 pax - Mutton Sukka, Chicken Curry (Manglorean style), Butter Chicken, Bhindi with Coconut, Dal Fry and 3 Starters - all delivered to our door step in catered dishes with salad and sweet dish - not to miss the Pulav, Mota rice, Saanas and Neer dosas- the food was enjoyed thoroughly by all!! 2ould highly recommend this place if you missing a good home made Coastal meal. Keep it up, Al Shay!
Good place for coastal food. Not so great ambience. Decent on the pockets as well. Good North Indian dishes as well.
Try the costal food.
Food 3.5
Ambience 2
Price -4
Going back to Al shay is always a pleasure .. So we tried the crab curry , kube sukka, prawn chilly .. With Neer dosa on the side ... yummy is all I can say .. Very tasty food ., value for money & friendly service .. It's home food away from home :)
5 step away from my building.taste was ok service is very nice ,normal taste wid normal AED price list :-) small n silent environment.......
Delivery takes more than 2 hrs. And they don't clearly tell you this. Food is good but do not get home delivery. Kubbe sukka, chicken ghee roast and neer dosa is good.
This place is really good. The staff are friendly, the food is yummy and the they live up to their 10 year old experience in the food industry ! The combo meals are real good value for money
I have a few friends who also recommended their sea food. Must try !
If you want to try authentic manglorian food this is the palce to be. Try out thier praws red masala and humor red masala fry. Typical manglorian restaurant ambience. Pretty cheap on cost as well. Value for money. One should definitely try it out.
For all you Mangs out there for the love of Mang food, do come here. I certainly was surprised at how good the food was over here. Simple, no frills rustic dining just like back home. Mang food is very tasty over here and makes you wanna come back for more. Chicken curry with roce and sannas was soooo damn good. Good ingredients and fresh food. I'm definitely going there for dinner tonight. Al Shay is simple, with nothing fancy. They do have an aquarium with really expensive fish, but thats it. The lighting is two shades too dark for me, but hey, why complain when the food is so good? Very neat and very tidy place with good service. Me and a buddy of mine were the only two people over there at that moment so that's why the service was better maybe. I would recommend that you ask for a delivery should the need for eating home style arises. Good delivery service as well. Definitely adding this to my list of regular joints when i feel homesick. I feel it is definitely the best Mang restaurant in Karama and i also feel it is very underrated. O and superbly light on the pockets!
Ringa ding ding!
I have been here many times when I think traditional indian styled fish. Here the fish is cooked/fried to perfection very tasty.lovely meals
