We also ordered a coconut elaneer pudding which was also delicious, but I felt it was overpriced at 22 dhs. Here I felt some nostalgia as I found "sip up" and "ball ice cream" which we had a lot in our school days in kerala. Expect for the price of elaneer pudding, everything else was fine.

(التعليق الأصلي) A friend of ours was all high talks on the beef chatti choru served at this restaurant. We came here for Friday weekend lunch and experienced this for ourselves ! The chatti choru is defenitly delicious. Generous quantity of beef served. The beef fry is yum! The only drawback is they have few waiter staff attending to all customers and there is a delay in getting your order ! But the food is definitely worth it for the price. The place is Zomato Pro friendly as well. You need to end your meal with their coconut pudding !

*CAUTION UNHYGIENIC* After the exhausted day, we really wanna have a nice dining experience. We really enjoyed the taste of food at the beginning, until we found the well cooked gadfly(ഈച്ച eacha) on the curry 🍛 (gravey), And guess what they ruin the mood & day. In addition they gave us 10% discount with the dirty smile for serving the eacha. We had a similar (unhygienic) experience with #MalabarParis restaurant. We got two portions of the Onam sadhya, that comes with 28 dishes. And it was AMAZING and very good portions and totally worth the price. Every dish of the sadhya tasted really good. Highly recommend this place. After a very long time I have enjoyed an Onam sadhya. Very content and in food coma.

Tried calicut chef twice, once for dinner which was Kerala parathas with channa masala, I absolutely loved that combo. Then for weekend I had the Kerala meals. A simple affair but tasty. My dad had the chicken biryani which he said was good. Friendly and attentive service too.

Arrived to the restaurant for the first time and here are my thoughts: - mango chicken: very salty and too much of coconut cream. It completely lacked the orange gist to it. - fish tawa fry kanthari: if it weren’t for the saltiness, this could have been a great dish - fish curry: good and well flavored - beef fry: a complete disaster. Had to return the dish. Why wouldn’t an Indian restaurant NOT have tea? Pretty disappointing. Service was good though.

It's our neighbourhood restaurant n we frequently take away ..kerala parotha mainly plus their signature dish(If i may say so!) Dropped in for lunch today n both me n wife tried their chicken chatti chor..the flavours were very homely n reminded me of hone food..the fry could have been a bit better(hence no 5*) I feel .but otherwise everything else was just bursting with flavour .. we really enjoined this lunch n a big plus is the friendly staff ..kudos n keep it up !

This was the first and last time I will probably order from this restaurant.. Wanted to have orange chicken and upon searching on zomato this restaurants name showed up ..When i called the restaurant they said its the chef’s special and double checked that its a chinese dish-absolutely wrong the chicken was typical south style with coconut pieces 🤦🏻‍♀️The chicken quality was bad too.. Had ordered chow mein along which had cucumber in it🤭 and didn’t taste that great as well.. The quantity of both the dishes was not great either.. Also had ordered malabar parata and they were the only good thing in the order..

After a long time we decided to go for a dine out and we chose Calicut chef alnahda Dubai. Staters was awesome specially the orange chicken tawa fry and mulakidicha fish tawa fry also we have tried honey prawns. Taste was super awesome and you can feel the effort behind every dish. Main course was porotta and beef varattiyathu and munnar chicken curry, no words to say we like all the dishes and they served with a nice smile and friendly service. Ambience is very good also the background music is the icing on the cake. I would say a must try restaurant and u will like it for sure.

It was our first ever visit to Calicut Chef Restaurent at Al Nahda Dubai though we had been hearing about it from others... We ordered two Chatti Choru and one Erachi Choru, we requested one of the Chatti Choru to be in Barik rice abd they obliged.... the dishes were awesome and lip smacking good....the aviyal, thoran, pachadi were all replenished whenever requested....so were the pappadams.... the beef fry and the gravy beef in the Chatti a Choru was awesome to say the least....the Erachi Choru was nostalgic....the food, service and even the music played was perfect....the attitude of each employee was fabulous....speaks a lot about the management too....a few jars of Kerala nostalgia sweets were on the cash counter....reasonably priced place.....deserves five stars on all counts..... the only thing that wasn’t up to the mark was the fresh line soda that we ordered as takeaway... but that’s ok.... lii ok venu experience overall.....forgot to mention the payasam was superb too...!!!!!!!!!!

We tried there special Chicken Orange (starter), One of the Variety dish i ever try. Its a Non-spicy with Orange flavoured fry. Yummy. Beef special also very tasty and. Kerala porotta is very tasty and nice too. Ambience and seating are likely. Staff are very cooperative and friendly. I have only one suggestion that, they should increase the quantity based on the price.

This restaurant is unpretentious . There are no airs about this place . The food is what one expects from the MALABAR part of Kerala.I ordered Parottas, Wheat Parottas, Ghee rice, Roasted Beef and Chicken curry.Everything was really pleasing to the taste buds. Like they say - you will come out not only with your stomach full but also your heart full. you will come having enjoyed a good meal. For some reason I couldn't stop missing Kerala when I tried this restaurant (blame it on the beef that I ate!). Authentic taste, definitely going back again.

Calicut Chef, amazing South Indian cuisine restaurant & is one of the best in terms of right quality & quantity of spices and flavours. They serve Chinese cuisine too. Visited this restaurant for lunch & we simply loved the food. Ambience is simple but very spacious & neat. Service is excellent. We started with Koshikodan kozhi soup, it was served hot, the Tadka of Curry leaves & amazing spices, makes it an excellent choice for a authentic Soup, very refreshing in taste. Orange Chicken, a newly introduced dish, absolutely no words to describe it, you need to taste it to experience. Very highly recommended. The tawa fried Sea Bream fish, by far the best fish fry i had. The fish was so fresh & the marination was perfect. Honey Chilli Prawn was brilliant as well. For main course we tried Fish Mango Curry ( Ayakora) & Mutton Varattiyathu. Fish curry had thick gravy which was spicy & tangy in taste. Mutton Varattiyathu had semi thick gravy & both went superbly well with Kerala parottas & Idiappam. Elaneer pudding was as its name Unique. It is an excellent authentic dessert made with tender coconut, not sugary sweet & delicious. In drinks we had Orange, Pineapple a Avocado juice, all three were very fresh. The quality & quantity of the food served here is very good compared to the pricing is something really astonishing. Manager Nikhil & Pritesh both were a good host. Do check it out !

so ...firstly, the orange thawa was amazing... mostly cuz it was a new flavour altogether, and otherwise cuz the chicken was tender n soaked in flavour... the porotta was also perfect unlike dry n stale ones u get in a lotta places... our other dish selections were also good thw staff made the experiance very comfortable and warm the seating is open n comfortable too theres a range of options in the menu too..but during lunch hours during our visit, tandoori items and some desserts werent available...but that was ok considering everything else :)

This is one restaurant which I would visit again, and again, and again.. They certainly have extremely large variety of delectable dishes, so one visit definitely wouldn't suffice. You certainly need to visit multiple times, because each of the dish in the menu is a must try. For me the standout dishes would be Orange Chicken and Beef Varatiyathu. Orange Chicken, sort of a fusion dish, mildly spiced, tangy and zesty, certainly readies your palate for the drool worthy dishes lined up on the menu. You will end up craving for more. Beef Varatiyathu is finger smacking, especially with the soft and smooth Kerala Parottas. Last, but not the least, the star of them all is the tantalizing Tender Coconut Pudding. One serving will not be enough, I bet. All in all, with the amazing ambience, friendly staff and the ever so graceful hosts, it's a must visit for fabulous food!!

Try ordering their malabar seafood soup and you will understand what I mean. There is not even a single piece of prawns in it and they use leftover fish into soup and serve. When I called their waiter and addressed the issue they are showing a piece of garlic in the soup and telling its prawns. Still they didnt even replace the soup and just walked away! No personal attention given. No wonder the restaurant is not going good.

I was trying to order from Tamarind Terrace but coz their zomato online is always off went for Calicut Chef, was a bit skeptical but ordered Kanthari Chicken Roast, Kerala Parotta and Squid rings. Though the Squid rings and kerala parotta was not upto the mark, as the oil in squid rings made me a bit nausea and Parotta was not quite fluffy, I was blown away by the taste of Kanthari chicken. I have eaten this dish in many other restaurant but first time i had the feel "This is it". Creamy and spicy the flavour of kanthari just burst in your mouth. I will order it again. My 5 star rating is only because of the Kanthari Chicken. Next time i will upload the picture.

Calicut chef is a place I order from very regularly since I live close by. Portions are generally large looking at their prices making it extremely value for money. Taste is good and after ordering over 10-12 dishes over the past 2-3 months, never had a disappointing experience. All dishes that I have ordered thus far was an 8 on 10. Their orange tawa curry and paneer tikka masala has been the best so far. Porotta too is soft and fresh. Happened to dine in once. Ambience was neat. Service was good. On the whole, definitely the best place to dine in at Al Nahda 1. At par with most others on the other side, but their pricing and quantity gives them an edge for sure

Chicken biriyani was good (no complaints for a Kerala style biriyani). Beef chatti rice combo was good, though on a pricy side comparatively. Would suggest this place is Kerala cuisine lovers.

Had heard of this new place so went for lunch this afternoon and the food experience was top notch. Had ordered for Hamoor Tawa Fry with curry on the side, Tandoori Roti and coconut pudding. Each and every dish was delicious and left me very happy. Will visit again to try other dishes.

One more added to the ever sprouting Malabar based restaurants in Dubai. 4 of us went for dinner last night and wanted something different from the same go to of chatti curry. Started with orange tawa grill chicken and it was something that appealed to the familiar masala loving tastebuds but with a touch of orange. Masala was superb but the meat did not get its authentic taste due to the usage of frozen chicken. When you go to naadan food restaurant you expect fresh chicken to be used automatically. Next we had chicken kanthari roast, beef coconut fry and another masala based chicken dish accompanied with porotta and ghee rice. Everything tasted fresh and flavourful indeed. Even the raita served along was thick and tasty, something that many restaurants miss. The owner and servers were happy to mingle with us and ask for feedback. I can see the lady’s commitment to keeping her passion for malabar cuisine and home style cooking. The dessert elaneer pudding was the only lacklustre thing that tastes stale. Please do stop using frozen chicken in your dishes soon Anyways really good food. We licked our plates clean. Would definitely visit again

We visited this restaurant last weekend just for a casual dining. Previously the joint was called Malabar Adukalla , but this restaurant has a new management and new staff and its completely different.So as always , I keep my review highlighting the Ambiance , Food , Service /Staff grading out of 5. Ambiance - 3/5 - Similar to the previous setup of MA , similar ambiance , sufficient space and good seating. Separate section for family and interior's are good. The interiors are well done with some good wall posters all dignifying the food.Food 4/5 - We ordered Chef Special Orange Chicken as starter , which I should say one of the best dishes I ever had in chicken. Marinated in orange , the aroma and taste would send you rejoicing in every bite you make. The chicken was soft and well textured. For main course we had King Fish Mango curry and Chicken Korma with Rice Puttu and Parottas... All good , but chicken in korma could have been better done. We winded up in Fried Ice-cream , which they specially decorated with a candle , knowing that my little one was celebrating his B-Day same day. Service/Staff 5/5 - Here I give them full , as they are really courteous. Good in hospitality , mannerism and attentiveness. Gentlemen attitude.. Special Thanks to them for taking good care of little one who was restless and giving them a marathon feel. Do ask for Manesh...he is good at his work.Give it a go guys........

Walked in on a late friday afternoon ..and was pretty pleased with the experience. We were served with a tiny welcome drink which was yum. Followed it up with Chicken biryani and spl allepy chicken curry with parathas which was quite good and different in taste. The restaurant appears to be quite feedback oriented as they did ask in more than a couple of times about the food and the experience. Would definitely try out the meals some other time..

This is a new restaurant which came up at the same place where different Kerala restaurents functioned earlier. I had fish curry meals and the food is as good as meals in any other Kerala restaurant. Nothing spectacular but for AED 11, they have done justice on price and quality. I saw many staff idling in the restaurant not sure why they were there. Will try other dishes and revise my rating. All the best for this restaurent to succeed.

Food quality and quantity is also good One of the best restaurants with a choice of Kerala style dinner options and they serve welcome drink also. We ordered their signature dish orange Tawa chicken, Chicken Manchow Soup, Mango fish (sea bream)chatty curry, Squid pepper rings and Appam. overall food taste was awesome. Visited this place on its Inauguration Day. The staff was friendly and polite. Ordered Orange 🍊 Tawa Chicken (their one of the specialties). It was yummy 🤤. Along with that we ordered Pathiri, Fish Chatty Curry, and Paneer Butter Masala. All the dishes ordered were tasty and delicious. Last but not the least, we ordered the naadan Chai ☕️. It was so refreshing. Will be visiting them for trying out their other dishes in the menu for sure.
