We always come back only to order our favourite kind of pasta, the Spicy Chicken one. It's oddly located, inside Homes r us, not the best ambience. The staff and service are slow, although the food's good and the serving sizes are generous.

Worst place ever. The worst service offered like none other. Literally placed by order at 1 and at 2:47 they cancelled my order because they literally have nothing available

Their breakfast options are great and the halloumi sandwich is amazing. They have excellent freshly-brewed coffee. The portions are generous and filling and the restaurant is very clean. The food arrived a bit late but it was worth the wait.

The First Avenue Café at the al-Fajer Complex in Oud Metha looks (and feels) very much like those cafés mall organisers set-up to fill the empty spaces between retail outlets. The ‘interior’ is presentable and clean, with a full-length counter on one end which includes a chilled display of their cakes and pastries. The menu is a collection of typical Dubai café favourites starting with breakfast and moving on to soup, salads, sandwiches, burgers and a couple of, what they call, light meals…such as the Nasi Goreng my friend ordered. Everything is cooked in a kitchen around the back. Everything except their crepes which, for some unfathomable reason, they cook in the prep area, smoking-up the entire place unpleasantly. Whilst the Indonesian rice dish my friend ordered was good (I assume that because he ate every last grain of rice on his plate), the same cannot be said for the Caesar Salad I ordered, which was so over-smothered in mayonnaise it contradicted the dietary purpose I ordered it for in the first place…and tasted ugh. Friendly service went some way towards making up for the very average food but not enough; Oud Metha is a treasure chest of hidden gems but this certainly isn’t one of them. So, unless you are stuck at the al-Fajer Complex (for whatever reason), seek other options.

Waste NOT. Want NOT.

I tried their place in June 2016, we enjoyed the pasta the most, it took us a while to realize that their place is inside Homes R Us. The service is a bit slow due to the kitchen being away and they don't have enough staff when there is many tables busy. Will visit again to try their other menu options

An amazing cafe, Grab and go, order and sit there, both ways are great!
Croissants are very tasty. Sandwiches are delicious!
But coffee is not good.
