MATSU is a Japanese restaurant located in the yas links of yas island. The restaurant is not only Japanese by name but the owners of the restaurant have brought the culture and tradition of Japan in the heart of Abu Dhabi. I found the entrance of the restaurant quite dramatic as when we watch some movie portraying Japanese culture showing barrels, Japanese style curtains with traditional inscriptions over them, cozy ambiance with those dim lights, live cooking stations etc. The restaurant has both outdoor and indoor seating arrangements with quick and accurate service.
We have always been really fascinated with Japanese soups. Let me tell you a secret we cake to know about a Japanese tradition that in Japan one drink soup after the whole meal and not before the meal like we normally do. We tried some of their chef recommended dishes and totally love the food and taste of each and everyone of it. We had kamameshi vegetable rice, spicy tuna maki, crispy Ebi maki, salmon tataki, Tofu salad, chicken teriyaki and Maguro (Tuna) Steak. The dishes were followed by some mocktails from which we had ordered strawberry cooler, passion fruit and coconut delight. Drinks were very refreshing and good in taste. From dishes, tofu salad, salmon tataki, kamameshi veg rice, chicken teriyaki and spicy tuna maki were the showstoppers first me. We also get to taste their sushi and we loved both the flavors. Their management from manager till the waiters everyone was hospitable and great in their jobs. We loved visiting them and would definitely be going there soon.
Their desserts are simply out of the world. We tried their pistachio ice cream and totally loved the presentation and taste of the ice cream. Also we got to eat their home made cheese cake which was nothing but like a butter. It was so good to be treated with those desserts. It’s a highly recommended place.

Among a flood of modern Japanese fusion experiments – actually very delicious! – Matsu goes back in history and presents a more traditional taste experience, offering authentic Japanese cuisine in Abu Dhabi. The location is splendid for a night out!. Perched on the upper floor of the Yas Links Golf Club, nestled among various rooms and open-air terraces of the mature white Spanish-style villa which makes the Club House, fresh-air dining is wonderful this time of year.

Firstly, the place is already almost authentic Japanese and the food... OMG really tasty and superb and the staff and the owner itself are amazing people. Dining and spending a time and enjoying the food and the view and the place is somehow out of the stress in the city life. By far it is one of the best Japanese Restaurant and only constraint is transportation.
Who knew we had this right under our noses, in Yas?! From the decor, the cutlery and crockery, the decor - it was an experience that had us longing to visit Japan 🇯🇵 . We received really good service, with them pouring us some special drinks to welcome us, and being attentive to our requests. They served us so graciously, and the food - oh, the food. So many sushi options, I would 100% recommend trying their platters. They also make drinks from the clouds themselves, I swear. It's truly quite an experience. And the drinks are on Zomato Gold, a huge plus! Would recommend for a date night, seated on the balcony with am amazing view.
The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. Servers were very friendly and professional and took good care of us.

We ordered Gyozas, Sake Teriyaki, Yaki Tori Negima, all of which was excellent.
On the drinks spectrum....finally there is place in Abu Dhabi serving Umeshu.... Although they can definitely up their game in dessert side.

Matus is located in Yas Links golf club 1st floor. It is a real traditional Japanese restaurant, with a Japanese owner and Japanese sushi chef. Flavors were authentic and not American/sushi style.
Service was very prompt and friendly.
Truly authentic and delicious Japanese dining experience. The staff is attentive and welcoming and you really feel they are invested in ensuring you enjoy every bite. Highly recommended.

The most authentic Japanese restaurant ever. Just what the capital needed. Set in a beautiful Spanish house in Yas Links, they will definitely take you to Japan despite what it looks like.
An omakase dinner is advised if it’s your first time.

We came for the Saturday brunch (start from AED349) and booked in advance. It was a good deal especially with entertainer app 2-1 deal. Starters were good along with sushi/sashimi and for mains both the chicken teriyaki and beef were good with the curry rice. Ended with some ice cream, cheesecake and fresh food. Service was friendly but they were full , so sometimes a bit slow. Overall, highly recommended and will be back!

Group dinner with small children, staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good, but have to say the way the Katsu Curry is served (in a bowl not a plate) was a bit odd. Portions could have been a bit bigger.

I had the chance to try this place and I am so glad I didn’t miss it. I love everything Japanese, but I wasn’t always a fan of their food till today. I tried various dishes and each one tops its predecessor. I can’t honestly remember their names, but you can check the photos attached. My least favorite was the tempora because it had no pumpkin 😋. The place was clean and the service was top notch. It wasn’t crowded, but it’s always good to call ahead and make a reservation. You have the choice of dining indoors or outdoors.
