A long weekend in Dubai means a road trip. Spent the day in Khorfakkan and ended up here for dinner at Taj Al Madinah after looking through Zomato for options. It’s a large restaurant with well-spaced out seating and private cabins. The restaurant has been done up well with a Mughlai theme, dimly lit interiors and fancy cutlery. However, the menu is a mix of Indo-chinese selections.

We were a group of six, including children. We ordered the Butter Chicken, Taj Special Biryani, Butter Chicken, Fish Chili Dal Fry and Chicken Fried Noodles.

The Taj Special Biryani is a boneless chicken biryani, served in a copper Handi. The rice were fluffy and everyone on the table enjoyed it. The Butter Chicken was also served in a copper Handi. The Chicken was well done although too salty for our taste. The Fish Chili was very good. Done up in an indo-chinese style and very spicy. The Dal Fry tasted like "Ghar ki Dal" and was served in a small copper bucket. I would surely recommend the Dal as a must-try if you are a fan of simple home cooked Dal. The Chicken Fried Noodles were mainly ordered for the children on the table. Nothing extraordinary, similar to noodles served in other restaurants. We ordered Tandoori Roti as well that was nice and served fresh out of the tandoor.

Overall a good restaurant to visit if you are in the area. The decor and presentation are up to the mark and surely something you don’t expect when walking in. A few items on the menu did seem a bit over priced considering the serving size.
