Don’t you find Friday brunch scenes to be absolutely mesmerizing? All the lovely food options help you relax, and you can actually recover from all the stress and exhaustion. So just imagine, how phenomenal a brunch with a captivating view will be. A perfect view, amazing weather, and lots of food; I am talking about a Beach Brunch that’s held at West 14th every Friday. If you ask me, a combination of the above mentioned is very enchanting. It certainly helped me unwind, and I loved the magical and positive vibes. I received an invite for a tasting session from Mona, the Marketing Manager, and I was pretty much elated to drive down to Dukes Dubai, to enjoy the Beach Brunch at West 14th.
Upon entering, you will find a bar on your right, which stretches till the end. In the middle, they have placed their breads, seafood, salad, desserts and kids section. If you step out a little, you’ll notice an area where the barbecue, live station and main course section is placed. Walking down a little more, and you can capture the scenic views of the gorgeous beach, which steals all the limelight. The restaurant is quite spacious, and has a generous seating capacity. The kids section is designed very beautifully, as it is pretty much adorable. The service was fabulous, as the staff was very friendly.
I tried out some breads, which were soft, crispy and very fresh. From the kids section, I tried out the Cheese Pizza and Fish Fingers. The base of the Cheese Pizza was soft and fresh, the flavourful sauce was very yummy and it was topped with lots of cheese. The fish fingers were perfectly fried, non – oily, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and full of flavours.
For the drinks, I tried out the passion fruit mojito, which was served chilled. It was quite refreshing, and the flavour of passion fruit was reinvigorating, and it was midly tart. It had a slice of lime present in it, and was decorated with some mint leaves.
From the salads section, I tried out the hummus, beetroot moutabel, salad leaves, cucumbers, carrots and jalapenos. The chickpeas were well – grinded, and tahini was perfectly added in the hummus. It was creamy, fresh and flavourful. The beetroot moutabel was quite appetizing, and is an awesome healthy option. The beetroot paste was scrumptious, and it indeed complemented the moutabel from start to end.
I was waiting to try out their barbecue, which turned out to be very delicious. I opted for some chicken cubes and lamb kebab. The chicken cubes were soft, smooth in texture and well – cooked. The even marination was made very well with necessary ingredients and spices, and it was full of flavours, mildly spicy, and also had a smoky flavour. I just wish they served it hot. The lamb kebab was certainly outstanding. The minced lamb, given a shape of kebab, was reasonably soft, juicy, and featured a lush texture. Made to perfection with essential condiments and moderate spices, this flavoursome and mildly spicy kebab was delectable and toothsome.
From the live section, I tried out the penne pasta in white sauce, which was quite on the dissatisfying end, due to lack of flavours.
From the main course, I tried out the jeera rice and chicken kadhai. The jeera rice was freshly prepared, and the long grain rice were tossed with cumin seeds to offer our palates a lovely flavour. The chicken kadhai featured boneless chunks of chicken which were soft and cooked very well with its gravy. The gravy was thick in consistency, and had a smooth texture. It was made with all its necessary spices and ingredients, and was flavourful and medium spicy.
Arriving at the climax, from the desserts section, I tried out the opera cake, mango mousse cake, almond cake and chocolate croissant. The opera cake which had a rich texture, had an adequate flavour of coffee. The mango mousse cake was very pleasing, and is a must try if you like mangoes. The cake had a smooth texture, and was fresh, moist and creamy. It had a pleasant flavour of mangoes, and was fairly sweet and subtly tangy. The almond cake was my favourite, as it was soft, fresh and flavourful. Its rich texture was excellent, and the flavours were delightful and moderately sweet. It was topped with a tangy sauce, so the flavours were a blend of sweet and tangy. Chocolate croissant was very tasty; it was flaky, crispy, soft, freshly prepared, and had a satisfying flavour of rich chocolate.
Thank you for hosting us West 14th team. We look forward to coming back again soon.
