The time I was walking towards Vintage Chocolate Lounge, the same moment my eyes twinkled looking at the interiors of the said eatery. Elegant and mesmerizing, brightly lit, excellent furniture and fixtures with a lovely display of their signature desserts and chocolates. The staff there were courteous, and always on their feet to serve us. I was invited here for a tasting session, and absolutely loved my dining experience with them.
We were served vine leaves and an immunity booster to begin with. The vine leaves with a stuffing of flavoured rice was yummy, and the immunity booster, which was made of green apple, ginger and lemon, was really nice to have.
For the food and drinks, we tried out the following:
Orange juice: freshly squeezed, this drink was refreshing and sweet.
Passion fruit mojito: served chilled, the lemony flavour of this drink was revitalizing. It was topped with a slice of passion fruit and mint leaves.
Corn & Avocado salad: charred corn, avocado, mixed leaves, olives, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, sweet chili and lime dressing. All the items were well balanced, and the salad had a slightly tangy flavour. The soft and crunchy veggies, along with mushy avocado, turned out to be an outstanding salad. Definitely a must try.
Double dip: a platter of hummus, beetroot hummus, avocado hummus, jalapeno hummus, mutabbal and muhammara, served with pita bread. All kinds of hummus were thick in consistency, smooth in terms of texture, and were delicious. Their respective flavours (jalapeno, avocado and beetroot) were also sufficient, satisfactory and delectable. The avocado hummus featured a creamy buttery flavour, the jalapeno hummus was subtly spicy and the beetroot hummus had a lovely flavour of beetroot. Mutabbal and muhammara both were equally tasty. The pita breads served were soft and fresh.
Penne pasta with pink sauce (we requested them to skip the cheese): reasonably soft pasta tossed in tomato sauce was full of flavours, appetizing and cooked to perfection.
French fries and potato wedges: the former were thin cut, crispy, non – oily and the latter were thick cut, soft & crispy. Both served as amazing sides.
Chocolates: we tried out all the chocolate truffles; chocolate sable, white pearl truffle, black tea truffle, black pearl truffle, cappuccino truffle, hazelnut truffle, noisette truffle, pistachio truffle and salted caramel truffle. All of them were superb and flavoursome. My favourite was the pistachio truffle, as it had a filling of delightful pista.
Coconut: the cake was moist, with a lush texture, freshly prepared, it was topped with coconut shavings, and on the side there were almond flakes. The cake had a moderate flavour of coconut, it was fairly sweet and toothsome.
Jewel box: absolutely amazing, a dreamy jewel box this was. Topped with rich, thick chocolate sauce, the chocolate jewel box shell melted, and surprised us with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and malteasers inside. A bite of all eaten together was soft and crunchy. Fairly chocolatey, this was scrumptious and heavenly.
Thank you Vintage Chocolate Lounge team for having us. Can’t wait to come back and try other items on the menu.
