Nawab – oh what should I say? A restaurant with which I have childhood memories attached. An eatery which was our go-to-place for every possible occasion when I was a little girl. A place that has been so close to my heart since the very beginning. Nawab has always been one of my favourite Indian restaurants. So, when I received an invite to visit Nawab from Muskan, I was highly elated. I couldn’t wait to visit them; to indulge in their delicious food and to reminisce.
The ambiance of the restaurant was pretty well done. Featuring private cabins, you can enjoy your meals without any disturbance. Our hosts were also quite courteous, friendly and polite.
For the food and drinks, Muskan helped us order some of their best dishes. We started off with some crunchy, roasted papad with mint chutney, which was excellent.
For drinks, we opted for Mint & Lemon (water based, sweet) and mango lassi. The mint and lemon was served chilled with a slice of lemon, and was quite refreshing. An equal blend of lemon and mint, with some sweetness was very pleasing. The mango lassi was exquisite and sweet, as it was thick in consistency, with a smooth texture, and the flavours of mango were just right and lovely.
Veg garlic balls – I was wondering how these would be. But I was astonished upon trying them, as the taste was magnificent! Rich Manchurian spheres were made with garlic and chili paste. They were moderately soft, with the outer layer offering a subtle crispiness. The flavours of garlic and chili were equally balanced, and they were flavoursome and scrumptious. Definitely recommended!
Chicken tikka khaas nawab – one of Nawab’s specialties, these beautiful looking, boneless orange chunks, were outstanding. A smooth texture, well – made in tandoor & succulent, this dish was very delicious. The marination was tasty by being mildly spicy and full of flavours.
Lahsuni fish tikka – Another delectable dish, these chunks were absolutely tender, as we delicately sliced them. The marination on our fishes was flavourful, mildly spicy and slightly garlicy.
Palak kofte – when I said Nawab and I are connected since childhood, there were certain dishes we used to order every time we visited this restaurant. Palak kofte was one of them. Waiting to get our hands back on the said dish, we devoured the palak kofte with the breads served. Spheres of spinach were soft and well cooked with their yellow & green, thick in consistency gravy. This was cooked well with all the sufficient spices, and it was full of flavours, a little on the sweet and coconuty side.
Paneer lababar – just the way my mom makes it at home, this dish was toothsome. Huge chunks of soft paneer were well cooked with their gravy. The orange gravy was just right in consistency, and was perfectly made with all the essential condiments, and was medium spicy and flavoursome. What’s more? It’s served in ample quantity!
Dal makhani – highlighting a lush texture, neither too thick, nor too thin consistency, this buttery & creamy dal is Nawab’s masterpiece. Well – done with reasonable amount of spices, this dish was flavoursome and mildly spicy, and we paired these with garlic naans.
Bread basket – different kinds of naan, rotis and paratha, these were served warm, and were soft and crispy.
Gulab jamun – round, mushy gulab jamuns were so fresh, they were fairly sweet, and one of the best we have tried.
Masala chai – ending our meal with some good tea, this aromatic chai was neither too milky, nor too sweet, and freshly brewed. The hint of masala in the chai was quite delightful.
Thank you Nawab team for hosting us. Count me in for coming back again!
