Surely should make itself in the HIDDEN GEMS of Dubai Marina , a feel good cafe with a cosy feeling , and with that we had the most delicious steak and egg sandwich , man it was so good the crispy fries fresh to the core , I think these places should visited more often , the waiter and the head steward all very curious and if like quite places with good food a sure visit , unlike the other more commercial cafe s with so much going on , anyways I ended my meal with the mostly lovely carrot cake in jar with some coffee which U will surely come back for .

The food at Elken is fantastic! I’ve wanted to visit this ‘community café’ for a while now and finally did for a late breakfast. The easiest restaurant to find in the Dubai Marina as its right opposite Choithrams, but it did take us a while to find the small staircase leading to the back of the building where you’ll eventually find this café.
We arrived at a time when the restaurant was empty so we had our choice of seating. There’s a glass separating the seating area. (One side with a children’s play area and one without.) Where we sat made no difference as we had a pleasant view of the Marina everywhere, but it did bother us that there were a countless number of flies buzzing around inside the café. (Highly unimpressed by this. We were busy fanning flies away from our food whilst eating; very unhygienic.)
I ordered a Café Latte and added caramel to it. It arrived perfectly foamy. Our English Breakfast Tea came next and we were enamored with the unique concept of timing the tea bag with several colorful hourglasses so as to avoid having your tea taste too strong. We had soon forgotten about the purpose of these hourglasses and left the tea bag in too long but our server immediately came over and removed the tea bag for us.
Ordered the ‘3 Eggs Your Way’ next and we were very impressed by how perfectly our eggs were cooked. Although, I did not appreciate the fact that we were not provided with a breadbasket and had to pay for another two slices of toast. Finally, we placed an order for the highly advertised ‘Carrot Cake’ in a jar made by Chef Azy and let me tell you this, it is one of the best carrot cakes I’ve had in Dubai. (Ironically, the other amazing carrot cake is also made at a Russian bakery.) The little carrot on top, used as decoration, looked more like a tiny chili than a carrot.
Our servers were very helpful right from the start; from asking for directions to escorting us to the door as we left the café. I would suggest bringing a family along; all will share in an enjoyable experience.

I had breakfast the other day there, ordered Poached eggs, it came very very delicious, with salmon underneath and they nice waitress asked me if I like my eggs rare, medium or well done, i was so happy for the question as i really don't like my poached to be rare, it came perfectly medium as i requested.
I had their famous English breakfast tea with all the set with the sand clock to calculate how many minutes you need to soak ur tea in the pot, loved the concept very much :)
We also ordered cup cakes, I got 4 medium pan cakes which were fluffy and a lot more than i expected, but sadly I had no place in my stomach to finish half of it even as the eggs were fulfilling and tasty, will come back for it for sure.
the restaurant view is very nice specially after the renovation made along the sidewalk, I am waiting for the weather to cool down then I will be there more often.
I loved the concept of Russian food with a twist, makes me have good variety to choose from and encourage me to try new dishes there knowing that they will be as good as the other dishes.
I believe this place needs a little more advertisements to be more popular, it is a very nice destination for nice breakfast or afternoon bite.

My love for eggs benedict is clearly increasing and Elken cafe just fuelled that fire a few Fridays ago when we headed down there for breakfast.
Sadly Elken cafe isn't located in a very easy to get to spot.
The ambiance however is very warm and welcoming, in small parts reminded me of @mozzocentrale .
Of Course to start I had the eggs benedict (who wouldn't?!) The hollandaise took a back seat and was a simple, The ham easily took centre stage – a thick, juicy hunk. Result - mouthwatering perfection.
My breakfast bud opted for the American - a complete and filling breakfast and definitely not someone who isn't hungry for breakfast, luckily that morning we went kayaking and had built quite an appetite!

In addition we thought we'd try out the granola. This is really a perfect option for a healthier breakfast - completely fresh and light!
I personally loved the serving of tea - with a cute 3 minute timer to remind you that you're tea is done! Small things which really leave a big impact :)
Elken has also recently started a gluten free menu, perfect for that area as well!
Fab place... Finally a beautiful place for a brilliant breakfast this side of the Marina. The American breakfast was spot on and the atmosphere even better.

Been to Elken several times. The place deserves to be much, much better known - lovely service and food that's not only expertly executed, but beautifully presented too. Like another reviewer said, their bread for entrees, is surprisingly wow. The fries crispy outside, fluffy inside, just like they should be. Flavoursome sauces on the burger or dressing on the salad ... it's the small things you notice! In fact, people pay top dollar to go to restaurants in "same same" characterless 5-star hotels .... and here's a place that's quality, low key and still keeps that independent feel to it, so the customer isn't just giving their money to some sprawling chain eatery that's too big to provide the personal touch.
Contemporary European-style interior decor, free wifi, ambient chillout music, makes this the kind of place urban hipsters would hang out in London or New York. Joggers, cyclists and health foodies passing by the pedestrianised Marina outside and dropping in from time to time.
The one drawback is that you have to find your way to it! If arriving by car, you have to find your way to the Pearl Marina Hotel building in the 'south end' of Dubai Marina and on-street parking is nearby (don't know if there is an agreement with the hotel to allow diners to park in underground car park).
At night, with the lights of the Marina shimmering on the water, this really is a great location to bring a loved one (or soon to be loved one!) :-)
Thnx zomato for the voucher,we visited thm for the dinner n njoyed the whole experience ,i think they hav menus for different climatic conditions becoz now they hav a summer menu ,to start with we had their healthy yogurt based drink with banana,coconut n lime nice n refreshing,thn we had a meditterranean chk served with fries n some greens n for mains a stuffed chk schnitzel with potato croquette n salsa ,the salsa was my fav, raw n ripe mangoes with cherry tomates yummmm,both the dishes were gud n fresh.A special mention 2 their calm n kind staffs gud job guyz.Overall gud place with gud view n food.
They've got some pretty good pastas and burgers. I'd pass on the desserts, though.

Now this is what I call a hidden gem. Elken is on the Warina walk but i have never been to the further part of the Walk, the quiter side of the Marina. One nice thing about Elkan is that everything is home made, so all the breads and cakes are freshly made from scratch and they use natural organic ingredients. The appetizer bread was really fresh and tasty. I didnt want to fill my tummy up so I limited myself to one slice. I had the lentil soup which was simply wow.For mains I had a beef burger, and wow im so glad I did, it was so fresh, the patty was so good and I think was made with herbs. It was really good and juicy, usually I find thick pattys dry but this was not at all my experience. Really good. Because I have amazing friends who dont mind me picking at their plates, I also had a taste of my friends spinach ravioli which was so creamy and rich, very tasty. I also had a taste of the tuna steak which was medium rare and so succulent, it came with mash potatoes and a stirfy, again really yummy.
The desert was amazing I had the devils cake, which is sooo huge, we actually shared it between four people. I also had a taste of the carrot cake in a jar..all I can say is yummm yumm yumm in my tummmy. Such lovely presentation and really tasty..the service was super attentive. Also they have specials such as you get a desert free if you buy a main, also there are currently some amazing lunch options available for under AED 40.They have outside seating which has great view. I hear they also have a great breakfast menu which I cant wait to try out ...Loved this place, Im definitely coming back :)

We finally went to Elken today, it's a hard find if you don't know the area. We sat outside since the weather was amazing right at the tip of the waterfront. The interior is cute and cozy, I loved the counter and the community wall. They have seating inside and some foyer seating but the waterfront seating has an amazing view and looked very homely. The ambiance is brilliant and so is the service. We ordered a cafe latte for me, a cappuccino for my mom, a mokaccino for my sister and an affogato for my brother. The drinks could have been warmer but they were still good. What I loved was the huge jar of brown sugar on the table. My sister ordered a garlic coriander potato pie and the cool thing was that they had an offer in which buy one Russian pie and get an other one for free. The pie itself was a bit bland but I loved the balsamic vinegar salad that came with it. We then ordered 2 devil's food cakes and 2 strawberry cheesecakes. I loved my cheesecake and the devil's food cake was great but too chocolaty for my liking. Definitely check it out if you are in the area.
