(التعليق الأصلي) Red dragon is one of the older South Asian cuisine restaurants in Mankhool area, and as our visit proved, still retains it's charm in terms of taste and ambience. Located in Howard Johnson hotel, it is a cozy place to have some comforting Chinese food, and served with a smile by the really accommodating staff. We began with some kimchi salad which was quite good, the cabbage was not soggy , had a satisfying crunchy texture and the salt was not overpowering. The welcome drinks we ordered were kala khatta and virgin Pina colada, both were equally delicious, with us being split on the favorites between kala khatta and Pina colada. We moved on to the soups, chicken Mai Thai being the better of the lot- warm, thick and soft pieces of chicken, this was a good start to the evening's course. The non veg starter we tried were mock shrimp salt and pepper which interestingly was made from tofu, and tasted very much like the original shrimps, thanks to the clever recipe and is recommended for the vegetarians out there. We also had the vegetarian dumplings which were brought in a tiny wicker basket and were a delight. The basket and steaming hot dumplings are insta worthy, and we spent quite sometime clicking. Chilli basil fish was our favorite among the non veg starters, as the fish was done well, the wrapping was less oily and was delicious.recommended !! We had the veg fried rice along with the Kung Pao chicken, which made for a nice combination, with the sweet and sour taste of the chicken mixing well with the rice. The desserts were lychees with ice cream and banana toffee with ice creams, both of which were good, and one of us being more favored towards the banana with ice cream, which reminded us of the south Indian banana fritters . The restaurant with it's quiet ambience is worth a visit for some comfort food with no frills, and the service is worth a mention, as the staff were really attentive and was receptive to our requests. Free valet parking available at the hotel, which is a huge plus in the area.
