Seafood meals are good at this restaurant. We have options to select the fish and can ask them to fry it for us. Their poothichore was average. Very crowded on holidays.
Highly recommended for South Indian fish preparations. Gets very busy on the weekends. One should book a table before visiting.

DeFish in Karama typically has excellent and fresh seafood dishes originating from the Malabar coastline. Their onam sadhya combined traditional veg recipes with a seafood twist that really hits the spot. It even looked like a veg dish until you actually take a bite and realize it's fish 😊⠀

Their coconut milk fish curry was awesome with the other sadhya dishes but the fried chilli prawns was the star of the meal. They are coated in a spicy medley of masala and deep fried to perfection, you can't help but to reach for more! ⠀

There is no dearth of restaurants serving Malabar cuisine in Dubai, especially in Karama. So when I visited @defishrestaurant and found a (socially distanced) crowd waiting for a table on a Saturday afternoon, I was looking forward to the meal even more.
The staff welcomes everyone with a complimentary shot of ginger and lemon juice, masala lassi (buttermilk) and the traditional Karingali Vellam which is pink coloured warm water drink infused with herbs and barks that have Ayurvedic properties. These drinks are served unlimited throughout your meal.
I tried the following dishes -
Fried Chili Prawns - that were slathered with traditional Malabar spices and lip-smackingly good. Must order whenever you go.
Butter Garlic Prawns - were my least favourite dish because the garlic and cream sauce didn't work for me.
Pan-fried Sea Bream - chosen fresh from their days catch and it was delivered to our table perfectly pan-fried with delicious spices that had a flavour of Jeera/Caraway seeds.
Fish Curry - cooked in coconut and traditional Malabar spices with a smokey flavour that went beautifully with the Malabar Parotta. I would go back just to have this.
Jackfruit juice - was refreshing and had a unique taste akin to a mango and pineapple mix. Ask for it without sugar because the fruit is sweet as it is.
I am not a fan of seafood or very spicy food and yet I really enjoyed my meal at @defishrestaurant because they were able to tone down the spice levels without compromising on flavours and the seafood itself was fresh and tasty. The staff is friendly and very prompt with their service. I would definitely recommend @defishrestaurant for great tasting Malabar/Kerela cuisine.
My third visit to DeFish, and this time with my dad. We went ahead as we craved for some good Keralite food and this was the closest to my house.
We started off with a Crab Corn Soup, Spicy Seafood Soup, and my favorite starter, Fish Tikka. The soups were delicious, especially the Spicy Soup as it had a good level of spice and tanginess to it. The fish tikka as always was well cooked, full of spicy flavor, with a side of chutney.
For main course, we had Kerala Parotta with Fish Curry and Jeera Rice.
We did not have any desserts but did have a fresh glass of orange juice.
Social distancing was maintained and we were served in disposable cutlery and plates. The service was excellent and the head chef was checking on all tables. The servers explained each dish as they served, which was quite good.
@defishrestaurant is best known for its traditional way of serving food and taste that carries authentic value. The best part is they have fresh seafood you can choose from and decide what type of dish you prefer. I tried their best seller Sea Bream Tawa fry and it was very delicious and tasty. Enjoyed the grilled lobster and spicy mussels too!
Upon arrival the staff offers a welcome drink, warm zeera water and a terra-cotta pot of buttermilk, which was the best I’ve tasted so far and unlike the traditional buttermilk.
It was my first time being served on a banana leaf instead of a plate. I had ordered samudhra sadhaya which comes with unlimited papadum, 3 varieties of pickle, 4 sides, 4 curries and a choice of fish from the 2 types available free of charge. You can select a different one for which additional charges apply.
After your meal, a small cup of Kheeran is served.
If you want to experience eating on a banana leaf, you should visit this restaurant.
During the current pandemic, this was the only restaurant I have witnessed that had a long queue of people waiting their turn to get a table.
If you’re fond of Sri Lankan food, you will enjoy the dishes offered here. Though they’re less spicier than Sri Lankan cuisine

One of the best restaurant around karama . The real South Indian tastes. The quality of the food very good . The most important thing is the customer service. I have never seen this type of customer services that much they are great. When we need something they will come and ask . Sea food meals or samudra sadya was good. The fish had quality. We also ordered a spicy fish curry, but the chilly powder was burnt which we had informed the staff which they duly agreed to take care. Other than this a great experience

A really nice place for seafood lovers. The options are there, the prices are very reasonable and the service is good. The ambience is about average. They've got the fish bucket that is a dump of primarily shelled seafood ... crab, prawn, clams. Their specials of the day and the prawn fry was great. Likely to be a bit on the spicier side for many. The small shot of some kind of lemon juice they have at the beginning and the cinnamon yes they gave at the end was tasty too.

Went for the 1st time to try seafood bucket. Very unique experience, wanted to have this bucket from very long time. The flavors are ok, rice was basmati, should be small grain or sticky rice. We also took to pare parothas with it and it was very nice and soft. Iam sure the other dishes will be extra good. Should say the ambience is beautiiiiiiful, the vibes are very decent and exciting. Overall had good time.
